We had made reservations for a morning tee time over a week ago, but this morning at 5:30 am we received an email telling us several holes on the course were closed or modified due to construction. Why wasn't this information provided to us at the time of the reservation, so we would have had time to change our plans if so desired. I realize they are working on the course conditions, but currently the course is basically unplayable. The only good part are the greens. they are in good shape. I only dealt with one employee, but he was friendly and extremely helpful. This was a great course in its time and the layout can't be beat. The only thing we can hope for is at sometime it will return to its past glory. For now I would recommend staying away, unless you just want to hit the ball around.

It has been a while since golf courses are opened. Due to this COVID-19 pandemic, it was great to be out there and playing the course. The course took extra precautionary measures to ensure the safety of the patrons. Face mask must be worn at all time and the carts were sanitized before the next group. This took a while because they didn't have enough workers to clean the carts. However due to the limited open courses, the Links at Summerly were slammed with so many players. We didn't get our cart until 25mins later and the pace was very slow. Once on the course, conditions were good, tee box were level, greens were majority smooth but a bit slow and there was minimal sand in the bunkers. All the holes on the front nine were playable. Back nine however were a mixed bag. Hole #12, was made into a par 3 due to maintenance. Hole #13 was completely shut down. Hole #15 was turned into par 3 as part of the fairway was under maintenance. None of these information was disclosed at time of booking and at check in time. I felt that the course should have at least let us know that some of the holes were under maintenance. Hopefully, the course will be in great shape soon

Thursday 8:10 start 54 degrees warmed up to 73 at 10:50 finish. Skipped around a couple holes to pass member groups then easy return to complete full 18. Tight cut fairways appeared dormant and dry still areas without coverage. I just play to land in grassy locations and hit approach shots from them instead of bounding through barren areas. Makes for some interesting shots. Found white tee boxes okay as was #13 greenside bunker. Greens medium speed and from previous review a few seem to be shrinking. Backhoe reworking drainages and one fairway had been aerated. Always a friendly atmosphere and a fun play when disregarding imperfect conditions which should be rated mid fours not threes.

FINALLY got a chance to get out and give the new driver a shot around the course, and I run into 2+ club winds. At least the pace of play was good at about 4 hours. Played blue tees today and the 2-some who joined me... and one of the guys was on fire with his wedge play holing out twice for birdie! I couldn't make a thing from off the green.

I'm not certain if the course at this point is getting better, staying the same, or reverting a bit.
- It looks like most of the greens are shrinking in size due to either choice to change the original layout a bit to make things harder (doesn't need it), or the greenskeeper needs some help from management to get things back under control. In addition, what was once great putting surfaces, if frustrating with all the micro breaks in them, are inconsistent and look to be at least two strains of grass ... if not three. That is disappointing.
- The fairways are somewhat improved in many areas from last year, but other areas look worse for wear. Plenty of bare spots and very thin coverage.
- The bunkers are the same as last time I played when my wedge was damaged. Lots of rocks, not just pebbles, but larger rocks. You have to be careful of your shots and make certain to move rocks. The waste areas are waste areas, but bunkers need SAND in them. I know that is hard to do when you get big winds often, but there are options that should work out there. Sadly, they aren't cheap.
- Tees will require some future work, but the fairways are a greater concern. I don't think any were what I would consider to be flat.

This is a really great layout and if the soil concerns can be worked out, it can return to its former glory. If management is reading this: PLEASE help out your greenskeeper as much as possible to make this course AMAZING again. Part 1 is done with the new sodded areas and removal of turf for a more "natural" look, now to move on to part 2... let's get the rest of the course up to par.

My rating came out lower than I anticipated more fairly 6.2. 1/29 using GK coupon $22 real friendly welcome and easy check in with directions to go when ready so started about 40 min ahead of 9 am time since it was quite open. Comfortable 340 POP with some delays hunting down a few errant shots in the sand and brush. Started out with about a 1/2 club wind that was up to 2 clubs by the back and finished the last 6 in 3 clubs. Most wind was cross with only a couple of holes where it was dead straight. As I heard quoted purportedly from some Scotsman "if its na windy its na golf" appropriate for the links design. Fairways are patchy with some very thin areas a few bare spots and then some ok grass and some areas that were sodded seem to have taken hold. Still pretty dry and dormant this time of year. No rough except for some areas near the greens but fairly dry and whispy. Fairways are bordered by bare sandy/dirt which is adjacent to the brush or gorse. Tees mostly level some thin some with good cover and some major divot damage on the 3s where it appeared the markers had not been moved on a daily basis. Bunkers were in various conditions with some good some thin. Greens played better than they looked with some having multi shades of green and some looking to be rather thin like having been mowed too closely and not recovering quickly. Speed medium fast mostly smooth. Some pins took advantage of the slope or were near change in level so a shot that was off by a foot left you 20 feet away. Grass range, basic GPS but helpful info about distances to trouble. Word from the pro shop is that more improvements are in the works.

Played here 12/14/19 with a 6:40 am tee time. This course has dramatically changed and is much better than before. Staff was very friendly and kind. Always feel welcomed here. My friend and I pre-paid on golf now for $33 which is a good price for this course. Now course conditions:

Greens- 6/10- very sandy. Almost like they were just punched. Even with the rain we were constantly cleaning out balls and putters. However speed was still good and the greens still rolled true

Fairways- Huge improvement from last time. Last time the fairways were bare with almost no coverage. This time they all had good coverage and nice grass with the exception of hole 13 Par 5 which was almost all dirt with patches of grass.

Rough- 4/10 rough didnt exist, it was almost all dirt or patchy grass. However the groundskeepers trimmed a lot of the shrubs on the OB areas so lost balls were actually easier to find. Thanks guys!

Tee Boxes- 7/10 most had coverage and were level with the exception of 2 of the par 3's on the course.

Sand- 8/10- was only in 1 trap and was able to get out of it but had to move 4 small rocks in the trap in order to hit my ball.

Water- 7/10 Water didnt seem very clean but didnt stink.

Pace of play for us was 4 hours. This is a fun course and an interesting track. Lots of burns throughout fairways and lots of golf management needed. Rack Rate is $38 which is good. I would pay $45 for it but nothing more.

Agree with weber work is under way and there are areas that show progress and also agree with sd3bs that there is a way to go. Fairways yielded lots of roll and 70% ok lies. Rough present around the greens but generally whispy. Bunkers I discovered were ok as to sand but did have lots of small pebbles. Tees were lush.
Greens had a light top dressing with a very fine sand and had been brushed. Speed was at least medium fast and rolled quite smoothly being receptive to full shots and quick for chips.Perimeter of the greens had been shaved in preparation for overseeding to increase the size of the collar and make the greens a little smaller. Did not encounter the rabbit turd invasion on the greens nor the tees but definitely saw plenty in the fairways. Got to see a nice well fed coyote on #3 and various water fowl in the lakes.
Links layout is a nice change of pace. At this time conditions are not prime but does provide an opportunity for a more historic golf experience. The Links was well worth the GK special.
Talked with Larry the GM and thanked him for using GK and he shared that there had been very few users. He also added that work on improvement will continue.

Early Sunday morning round in three hours. The staff is located in the bar now? The course is still a work in progress. The tee boxes are all very level with a many needing rabbit turd removal. The first twelve fairways have had quite a bit of new sod laid but are covered with rabbit turds. You really notice the difference in conditions from the front to back nines. The front side is in much better condition and the back reminds one of how bad this course can be. There is no rough at all, just numerous burns running throughout the layout and scrub along many holes. The traps are filled with pebbles, rocks, boulders and of course rabbit turds. Most of the traps were maintained in okay shape but all had much more than sand. The greens didn't look real bad but most were bumpy and had sections in need of care. Every green was peppered with ball marks and golfer neglect (sad). The rack rates are out of line with what is offered but any discount bring the fees in line with what one should expect. I've seen this course at its best and worst - right now it's somewhere in between. My advice is to get rid of the rabbit problem. I've never seen so much damage done to a golf course by these pests!!
