I love the layout of this golf course. When I played, they had an unusual strain of grass invading the greens. I asked the golf pro inside what the grass was, and he said it was a mexican ice plant. The grass was really grainy and made the ball bounce or squiggle off line, which got frustrating. Also, I played the Mountain 9, and the grass on the back tee of hole 8 was so long, that my brush tee barely stood up over the grass. I hope that they can improve their conditions, because they have a great layout.

Played Lake/Mountain on Saturday 26th. Nice layout, some challenging holes and smooth rolling greens. Some tee boxes need work and the course is as dry as you would expect in mid summer, but fairways did not seem to be suffering.
One thing we couldn't work out is how this layout got a 140 slope. It's not easy by any means but no way is it on the same level as Oak Valley or tougher than the Ike.

Good deal!! 35 bucks for all 27 holes - you can't beat that. The staff was very friendly & helpful. The courses are all in good condition. Fairways are lush, Greens receptive. The bunkers could have used a litte more sand but they weren't bad. It was my first time on the Valley nine. It's hard to decide which nine I like best as they all have interesting layouts. Highly recommend this track.

Played all 27 holes (Lake, Mountain, and Valley) on Sunday. We teed off at 730am and only encountered different groups two or three times all day. I really liked the greens at Moreno Valley Ranch. They are medium/fast and soft which held my approach shots. I'm used to playing in the Desert where summer brings very firm greens. There are some bare spots on the fairways but that is to be expected this time of year. Even though I shot my best 9 ever on the Valley Course (38), I liked the Lake and Mountain Courses better. The Mountain Course has some great views of the valley (especially the par 3 7th). The staff at "The Ranch" are very friendly and the food was not bad either. The only negatives were the hard packed sand traps and $4.00 for a can of beer. I highly recommend this Pete Dye golf course.

The new owners at Moreno Vally continue to do great work. Greens were very lush, maybe a bit slow but true and fun to putt. A couple have a little fungus on the edges but where they had the pins it wasnt a problem. The fairways and most of the course is in terrific shape. If they read this they need to send someone out to look at couple bunkers on the Mountain, trash and grass in there. Staff was as usual terrific. The place looks and plays fun. They are doing $35 Monday thru Friday for all 27 holes. A great deal with a early tee time. Keep up the good work.

Played 4-30-08, Mountain, Valley 9s.

Fairways: Beautiful
Rough: Little thin in spots, but playable. Usually, by this time of year the rough is 3 - 4 inches and very lush,--which makes it an even tougher course to play, but not so far this year.
Tee boxes: very nice.
Bunkers: Firm, but playable.
GREENS: Whatever is growing in them is terrible! It's not poanna, but a heavy leaf weed that makes (good) putting almost impossible. The Ranch needs to take care of this ASAP!!!
Staff: Awesome, as always.

This place is always fun and reasonable ($45 for 27 holes, $35 for old guys), but I hope they do something with the greens soon.

They had a special today (27) holes for the price of 18. We paid $ 45 bucks and had a blast playing the Mountain/Valley/Lakes. Greens were a lil bumpy but to be expected on the tail-end of aerating the greens. The Pro shop staff was very friendly and the weather was absolutely perfect 70 degrees with a mild breeze. The course was wide open we had no wait on any hole at 8:45 am today...We sneaked in a few more holes today, but keep that between us.

Played all day on 3/1. Played all three nines and then some. This place is on my new top five list for SoCal. Awesome course! Staff was great. Price is cheap. And not too far from OC. Also, I did not play well in case you think this review is fueled by that type of happiness...it is not.

To start off, the place is in great condition from tee to green. Everything is green and the speed of the greens is about 9 to 10. I think they could get the course in a little better condition, but it was much nicer than I expected as far as course conditions. The pictures on GK don't do the beauty of the course much justice. Trust me, it is a good looking course with good vistas of the valley on plenty of holes.

As for the layout...We played all three nines and then played more. In contrast to most other opinions I have read, I preferred the Lake/Valley nines. Very similar to PGA West Stadium (also by Pete Dye). Great bunkering, natural hazard areas and such. At times the design of the course feels very uninterupted, much like Rustic Canyon. As if the architect just left what was there and built fairways around it.

I wasn't impressed with Mountain nine. I think it is the gimmicky nine of the 3 nines. Definitely more elevation changes and boulders all over the place. But to each his own.

We basically teed off at 7 am and played until 515 pm for only 75 bucks. 60 is all it costs on weekend for 27 holes and then 15 bucks more to play as many as you can get (unlimited). This is a sick layout that is in great condition (8 out of 10 on condition). I can't wait to go back in a couple weeks and play it again.

Thanks MVR staff for being so cool to us, you guys run a top notch deal out there!

9AM tee time today, Lakes and Valley... They had a tourny starting on the Mountain, which is our favorite. Valley 9, it was OK,, Greens except for one or two were very good. Coots are wrecking the others. Fairways are a bit spotty, with that said the Valley is one tough 9. Long and with the fast hard greens it tests your game. Lake 9 which has no Lake is a little easier, but not much. Still one of our favorite stops. , Staff was great, lunch was also. New carts, $35 senior rate for a Pete Dye track.. This is a great course in the spring and summer.I cant explain it, but we all agreed on it. Even though its not perfect right now we would play again tomorrow if it was closer.

Played 1-13-08. Beautiful day. We played the Lake-Mountain. The Lake nine the fairways weren't great , the Mtn. had greener fairways. This course is difficult. Mostly because the greens are outrageous. I don't know much about stimpmeters but I would think these greens would test around the highest. Certainly fast as any I've played. Mind you I didn't hit a lot approach shots close to the hole today, but I 3 putted a half a dozen greens & I don't think I'm a lousy putter. The greens here are very undulating & mowed shorter than my 2 day beard & I'm not a hairy guy! Tee boxes were very good & the staff was accomodating. If you like a challenge you should find it here.

Played here on Saturday 12/15/07, and the course was in great shape. The fairways were lush and green, while the rough was dormant bermuda and brown. I like that look, and gives me a better target off the tee. The greens were perfect, running very, very fast (around 11 on the stimp) and were super smooth with no bumps whatsoever. Played the Mountain and Valley, which are the two best nine's IMO. The staff is really nice and helpful, and the price is right. I would play here every other week if it weren't so far from my house.

Mountain to Valley today. They have let the trouble areas become severe trouble areas. You can lose your ball hitting just off the fairway. Balls tend to sink in the rough. Sand traps are concrete. Otherwise course is in good shape and always an enjoyable round. Greens are undulated and fast.

I hadn't played here in several years! The course is in far far better condition than it was back in 2000. Playing early AM, the fairways were very wet, many uncut, so course played longer than I remember. (Or am I just that much shorter?) I liked the course better than I remember and for $35, it's a bargin!

Moreno Valley Ranch, a three nine holes or 27 hole course with Mountain, Valley, and Lake. A beautiful Pete Dye design in Moreno Valley.

Played here on 07/29/07, and off at 8:20am to the Valley course for the first time. I was very impressed with the way the greens, fairways, roughs, and teeng grounds are kept to its good quality and conditions. The character designs on this nine is something to see and play as it spells out lots of fun! The Lakes course is at the same good conditions and loved the way they are maintaing it. I've played this and the Mountain years ago, but I don't remember it being in this very very good playing conditions.

$60 to ride is a fair value for the round for this good quality and maintained course. Although, for the rest of the days in July, it would only cost a player $30 to play all day.

Anyway, if you have been practicing your game skills and your group is looking to play a course with good tests... Moreno Valley Ranch GC!

Played on 7/25 and have to agree with Kendall, the Ranch is back among the best in the area. The greens are back in the condition like when the Nationwide Tour played here. The fairways are great, very few over watered spots, rough is penalizing like it should be, but the greens, they are perfect. Quick, not super fast, and smooth and true. The missed putts will be due to your mistakes or the diabolical design of one Mr. Pete Dye. Greens are small but have udulations aplenty and subtle breaks or lack of breaks, depending on position on green. Mountain nine is probably most players favorite, though it is very hard to pick a spot to land your driver, and plays longer than yardage. Also many approach shots are uphill and long, making hitting and staying on the small greens difficult. Still for every really tough hole there is an easier one, with birdie possiblity to offset it. Both par 5's are three shot holes due to the routing and small greens. Valley nine has water in play and is less punishing than Mountain though a couple of the par 4 holes are tough because of their length, unless you bomb your driver 270 yards plus and straight. Moreno Valley is the only Pete Dye course in this area, only others in Palm Springs or Simi Valley but they cost a car payment to play, and at $30.00 for unlimited golf, this is the deal of the summer. One word of caution, you will either love or hate this course, many hate it because it demands so much from those seeking its pleasures, don't expect to have your best round here, not the first or even the fifth time you play here. But play it a few times and you will definitely understand and come to appreciate the genius of Pete Dye and his golf course design team. Oh yeah, and special mention to those responsible for turning this golf course back into the gem it once was, thanks and keep up the great work.

Played Sat 06/09, all three courses. Overall course conditions are great except the sand traps. They are soild hard soil. They should call them sand traps... didn't find any sands at all. If they improve their sand traps, I will give them high 8 or 9 ratings. Lake course is most boring course of all. They call it Lake course because it is closer to one of the lake in that area. If I have a choice, I will play Valley and Mountain courses. Valley course actually have more water plays. Mountain course has beautiful scenic views. Roughs are pretty tough to get out but that is one of the key attraction to play at this couse. Customer service is fair. Snack shop is just OK. Better pack your own lunch and bring lots of water bottles. We saw the cart girl once, at the club house. Never saw her again through our 27 holes. It's going to be awhile before I go back... maybe next year.
They better fix the sand traps.

While the course(s) seem to be in good shape, the "sand" traps are mostly hard dirt. Hopefully their next upgrade will be to put sand in their traps. The only other problem is the round time. We had to wait on every hole. Make it hard to keep your rhythm. We did talk to the ranger a few times about a group in front of us playing with a child. He addressed the issue, but only on the back 9. We tried to play 18 previously after 12 and couldn't finish before dark. On the Par 3's there is no "wave-up" provision, which could help.

Another issue is the amount of "blind" drives. Since you have no way of seeing the group in front of you, you end up waiting longer than you probably should until you can see them. GPS would help this.

The ONLY drawback was the wind. There is nothing you can do about that but is it did dry everything out and make the course difficult to play. I cannot wait for a calm summer day to go back out there and test my nerves on some of those holes. Worth the money, worth the effort...give this place a try.

On Dec 26, holiday fee ($55), even though at time of reservation, was told $30. The fee was exorbitant for condition of course. Sand bunkers had standing water. Low fairway and rough areas had standing water or was extremely mushy. Not good for driving cart because muddy condition worsened with each passing cart on the course. If management is going to charge $55, they must insure course conditions match cost. Desk person taking reservation must be aware of increased green fee for holiday play. Valley Nine must be improved. It is almost disgraceful for such potential beauty.

Cant complain about anything,we will return soon. The place was busy with golfers, restaurant was busy with meetings and lots of people doing business. This is a good thing, If it makes $$ then we wil have a great Pete Dye course to play. Congrats to the New Owners,, good job.

Played 9-6-06 and will agree with other recent reviews. The course is in EXCELLENT shape! The rough is high (almost lethal in certain areas) but fair and the greens are fast, smooth and true. Yes, the bunkers are a little thin in spots and there aren't near enough rakes, but they are playable if you bear down. We played the Lake/Mountain combination, and it ate us (7 - 22 handicappers) up. Make sure you are sharpened up with your driving club, because if you miss the fairway, it will cost you 1 - 2 strokes for sure. I hit driver once all day, but stuck with my 3 wood (which I hit 230 - 250) the rest. Smart move. Do not be fooled with the scorecard yardages. We played our combination from the "Championship" tees which measured out at a little over 6300 yards, but it had a "conservative" slope of 140. All-in-all, a very good course that you will enjoy, but don't expect to have your career round low round.

Played this course on Labor Day. I agree with the below reviews. This course is in great conditions. It might loose out on the bunkers a little, the sand is hard and packed down (so avoid them if you can). I didn't know they went under new ownership. But it is true they are doing a great job! This track is still one of the most challeging layouts if you don't put the ball in the right place. Just as tough as I remember it being from when I first played it in 99. Play this course for the price you can't go wrong. The owners of Mo.Val should buy Quail Ranch and turn that course around. Before that great layout goes to complete waste.

WOW!!! This course is back!!! Greens are wonderful, fairways are great, course is set up like intended by Mr Dye. New owners have accomplished what some of us did not think would happen,, a great comeback. From the moment ya park and get your shoes on a cart arrives,a polite young man gives you a choice of riding or finding your clubs at the driving range.Driving range grass is perfect, putting green is perfect, staff at desk are professional. Course is a tick away from once again on the top ten of So Cal tracks. The rough is just terrible, not bad terrible,, just plain hard. Lost maybe 5 shots to the rough,my fault, shouldnt be there in the first place, Played Mountain /Lakes,, a great day, fun, difficult 140 slope from the blues. Well worth the drive, not crowded, play it soon as we suspect the word will get out ,prices will increase and it will get crowded. We will be back soon.

I played Moreno Valley Ranch today, and it is in the best shape that I have seen it in since the late 90's. The new owners have done an excellent job on turning this place around. The greens were absoulutely perfect, running around a 10 in speed, and the fairways were nice a lush. Cudos to the golf staff, very friendly and helpful, even the Cart Crew. Played the Mountain and Valley rotation, which in my opinion is the best by far. Can't wait to go back.

Played on 6/03, Mountain/Valley. Course was in good shape, though a couple greens on the Mountain look to be in danger of getting a fungal growth, I sure hope I am wrong. Fairways are a little wet due to watering against the heat, but overall very playable. Only negative is pace of play. They rotate course start times, one Mountain/Valley, one Valley/Lake. What happens after you finish your front nine is you may hit a real snag when you get to the Valley course. Front nine, Mountain was slow at 2-1/2 hours, but Valley nine was almost 3 hours since groups were so tightly bunched. Play Monday-Friday if you are a senior, $30.00 green fee can't be beat anywhere in the IE.

Played Valley/Lake course on Sat. Overall impression of the golf course is good. Great layout - mix of flat and undulated fairways with tough roughs. Getting out from the roughs require bit more effort, try at least one club up. Bunkers are terrible - no sands but hard ground. If they improve the sand traps, I will give them very high score of 8 or 9. Pace was very good. Since it wasn't busy, we took our time to enjoy the sceneries. Sloping greens are good and give you some challenging putts. Club house is OK, I didn't really like their hotdog. Love their practice range - beautiful wide open fairway area to hit your balls. Definitely worth the green fees - $55 with cart. Cart is bit chessy. I will definitely want to go back and spend all day to play all 27 holes.

Had not played here in about two months, don't think they have mowed the rough since then. It was as deep as it was when they had the nike tour here. If you are able to find your ball, good luck moving it. Rough penalizes you as it should. Fairways and tee boxes very nice, greens a little slow for the ranch, and softer than normal, but putted pretty smooth. Overall for the $ a very good deal as course has a lot of character, and is fun to play even if your in the cabbage all day.

Played on Friday, 4/07, and was totally surprised and impressed by the comeback this course has made. The practice area is still excellent, and with a new fleet of carts getting around the course is much more dependable than before. The staff is courteous and the price is very good.

This is the only Pete Dye track in this area and it is now in very condition. Shortly after the Nationwide Tour left the course in favor of Empire Lakes the course took a rapid turn for the worse. Glad to say the trend has been reversed. New ownship has made the course once again a must play. The greens were all smooth and fast, the fairways were in great shape, and the rough was rough. Was told to beware of the rough since a qualifying tournament was held there early in the week. Still was a very good experience. Great variety of holes; played Mountain/Valley, my favorite combination. Mountain has very difficult driving holes with fairly easy greens, while the Valley is easy driving, with very udulating greens and plenty of water.

I will definitely be playing this track much more now that it is again a "must play" of the Inland Empire. Better than Soboba Springs, since the redesign or renovation, and much better than Quail Ranch. Also senior rate is $30.00 Monday-Friday.

I played Moreno Valley Ranch this last Sunday. I was tricked into playing because I have heard nothing good about it. It started out on what I thought was a bad note because there were 2 fivesomes ahead of us, but I was very surprised that the pace was fast. Start times were right on time. We were a foursome and finished in 4 1/2 hours. The course was in great shape. The greens are fast and the pin placement gives quite a challenge. The rough was a bit tall but no balls were lost. It was a pleasant surprise and for the twighlight rate and a great pace, I will go back.

Played today (02\09\2006). Playing conditions are great, but the yardages seem out of sync. with my normal shot. My distances from the tee boxes seemed shorter than normal, but my distances from around 120-100 seemed much longer than customary. Overshot a lot of greens on the lakes 9. Playing on poa ana greens is a lot different for someone accustomed to bermuda. It took me the whole round to trust my putting stroke. My playing partner and I will make this course a regular on our rotation. It has indeed, improved in the last year.

OK, this place has turned it around,, from disrepair and neglect to almost back to the Pete Dye gem it was before. The Greens are super fast, but a little hard, shots CANT be Stopped,, so hit to the front and hit it high. The fairways are almost back, the tee boxes are fine and the rough is not bad, they are working on the drainage on the Valley 9, the Mountain 9 is fun, but the greens could be softened. Sort of a catch 22,, hard fast greens, or soft slower greens. They roll true, and they are tough to read, fun stuff. Staff was great, waitress in lounge needs english lessons, menu is maybe a bit to fancy, a fun day, and the senior rate is just right. We will return.

Played Mountain/Valley weekday. Mountain is spectacular. Good fairways and greens. Greens are quick and some are quite large with large breaks. I would go back here despite the one hour drive.
Green fee included 30 balls at the driving range the day I played.

Oh!! I forgot to say I collect logo balls of golf clubs where I play & I have collected nearly 100 but with this new ownership's logo is THE ugliest that I EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE . Just 3 letters saying mvr
What ! short of imagination or money.
Surely I have prior logo ball designed with bird but for the first time I didn't buy a new logo ball.

I wanted to play Mountain but they turned to us Valley & Lake courses.Played 2/4/06 sat. as 2 of 4 somes.Overall in decent conditions but I found some wet part of fairways & greensides. Greens are pretty hard makes you difficult to stop the balls even with 3-4 pieces ball in many approach shots with wedges.I can see more vivid activity on course than before(last time was pretty desert a year ago),more people & more cars in parking.$40 twilight on weekends at 12;00 & 4;15 hours of pace of play did worth drive from fullerton ,cerritos even from palos verdes.

WOW, the difference a year makes. I played this course almost a year ago to the day, and I cannot believe the changes in the course. Everything was MUCH BETTER than the last time I played it. The fairways and greens were in excellent shape. The customer service was as good as it had been in the past, and the pace of play seems to have improved. THIS IS A MUST PLAY IF YOU ARE WITHIN AN HOUR OR SO. Any time I am in the LA/Riverside/Palm Springs area, I make the trip over to play this course, BUT dont forget to bring your camera.

I just played Moreno Valley for the last three days. The course is in very good condition, the greens are very nice to putt and hold approach shots. The owners/management are doing an unbelievable job getting this fun golf course back into the shape it used to be in. Highly recommend!

That new management and golf course superintendent are doing a great job. It is still ashame what the old management team to such a beautiful course. The superintendent should get a pad on the back for improving the conditions in such a short amount of time. Thank you

Played all three nine hole layouts last week. Played the Lakes first on the advice of the starter. What a mistake. AVOID THE LAKES NINE AT ALL COSTS. Fairways and rough had not been cut in at least four days. It was almost impossible to find any ball that was not in the fairway. Fairways were brown and had patches of dirt. I remember when this was a well maintained track in the late 90's. Apparently new ownership has come in and is willing to spend the money to revive this place. As far the other two nines (Valley, Mountain), I was pleasantly surpised at the condition of these two. for a minute I thought it was 1998 out there. Then I looked at the uncut rough and fairways and sanpped back into it. This place has a ways to go but I will be back in a few months to check on the progress.

Great course. 27 holes make each visit a little different from the last. New ownership extras, e.g., complimentary cold towels, contribute to to pleasant experience.

My club had a tourney on 24 Sept on Lake/Mountain. There were only about 3 or 4 greens that still had lots of unrepaired ball marks. Looks like the course is starting to repair them (or more golfers are starting to repair multiple ball marks). Might be the course let them go because the greens are going to be punched soon. But there are at least two tee boxes that were in terrible shape and need work. This is the first course where I saw ruts on the tee box. These nits aside, this is a great track. I'll return after the punched greens recover.

This course is definitely not worth the green fee anymore. It used to be tho. But now the greens are about the only thing that was fair but the rough was not taken care of neither is the fairway..In my opinion I think id rather spend my money elsewhere than to spend any more money here.. Bottom line.. Its not worth the money...

I heard that there is a new owner who bought the course in April, 2005 and that the golf course was getting in shape. I used to love this Pete Dye course, so I went to check it out on Monday. The old owner let it go for many years, so I stoped playing there. Wow, a lot of changes, for the better. Great clubhouse (new big screen plasma TVs, new chairs and good food). Very friendly staff. The greens were great, soft and true. Fairways were tight and green. Rough was on the high side. Bunkers and surrounds need work, but I saw maintenance crew working on the bunkers. I had a good time. It looked like this gem of a golf course is being revitalized. That's great. Spoke to the pro. He said that they just got new fleet of mowers so that in few weeks the course will look great. Oh, finally, they fixed the bathrooms on the course.
Overall, a very good experience for the price.

We have been reading all the bad things re the MVR conditions and decided to have a look,, we played the Valley / Lakes at 7 AM today. The bar and restaurant area is brand new,new walls, new tables and chairs, new carpeting new people. Very nice, the check in area is under construction, should be very cool also when done. I am sure they want parties and weddings and we hope they get them as that helps the bottom line and makes for a better golf course. Attitude when you get there is very good, all were helpful. The course, valley ..lakes was a nice surprise, greens were in great shape, good looking, soft and smooth,, soon they will be fast like in the old days. Fairways were getting there, in a week or two or right now they are fine. Rough is very rough, they havent got to that yet, but they will,, We made another tee time for next week, Pete Dye would be happy that the new owner is bringing the place back to original shape. Oh yeah, the practice putting green and the driving range look terrific, The place is on the mend, fun day. $35 for seniors, a great deal.

The staff was great, the course was in pretty good shape but it seemed way to over developed. The Mountain course was awesome, then you play the lake course and it is more like a tour of tracked homes. For under $50 the course might be worth it, or if it was in perfect shape, one or the other. Plus there are no distance markers still. After making a comment to one of the cart guys he mentioned that it had just been re-measured and the markers should be in place asap. The new management is doing a great job and they are very open for input. Either way I might not play this course again for a while.

I heard that sense the ranch changed management it has been only improving and is actually in pretty good shape; if not the best shape it has been in for ages. I am playing there Saturday so we'll see. Either way I will post an up-to-date comment next week. I hope it is in amazing shape.

i cannot believe how far MVR has fallen. what a waste. to start---there's NOTHING in the pro shop. bad omen. then the tee boxes haven't been moved in at least a week, maybe more. they were like rough, no kidding. there are weeds growing in the bunkers and all around them. surprisingly, the greens were still reasonably okay, but the rest of the course is really suffering. i hear there's new ownership---they've got lots of work to do.

Played the Mountain/Lake course 4/7/2005. Although the fairways and greens were decent, don't believe all the great things their website says about this being a great course. It is neglected badly. Starting from the bare clubhouse with no Pro-shop, terrible practice greens and an overall neglect in the appearance of the property, it is just ugly out there. They also provide yardage books on the cart, but I prefer markings on the sprinklers(there are few if any) constant guessing game. There are no marks on the tee boxes so you have to just go with the sign no matter where they happen to put the tees. No beverage cart and no Marshals. We played as a 2-some in three hours and 45 mins. That is good, but every group was a 2-some and we were rushed the entire time. Doesn't anyone even take a look at a putt? Anyway for a course that is designed by Pete Dye and the former home of a Nike Tour event I was extremely disappointed and would not recommend this course to anyone unless they are looking for an uncrowded relatively inexpensive place to play. Green fee was $40 not $35

I played this course on 3/29/05. The last time I played here was around 1998, and I had heard the course took a nose dive when Nike Tour left town for Empire Lakes. I found the course to be in not the most immaculate condition ever seen, but still a very, very nice course for the price. The crowds are not here, which is also a major plus for me. Pete Dye courses are known to be hard, and this one does not dissappoint. Deep Bunkers of grass and sand, water bordered by railroad ties and other signiture design features are present. We played Valley > Mountain... there was some kind of rain/flood damage on a few of the holes on valley, but they did NOT interfere with play. Also, the greens were areated on 3/24 and show NO signs of bumpiness or sand today. I think you can cancel your alert. Overall, well worth the value and a joy and challenge to play. I will certainly be back, and hope no one reads this so they are not in front of me!

I enjoyed the layout of this course, although the 5 hour round did get a bit much. The course overall is a good value for your money, but the course is in need of some TLC...it is showing its age, and appears to get alot of play. I played it right after all the massive rain SoCal had gotten, but the conditions I was seeing, were NOT due to the rain..they were due to overplay and under fertilizing...Again, I think this is a great layout, with some wonderful views...I WILL play it again when in SoCal...

played sat 20th, played one month ago place looked great, was blooming from recent aeration, greens were fast and smooth, now fairways have thinned out, pro shop told us that greens were perfect only to find out that all had beed verti-cut and sanded heavily! Big dissapointment from last month. Also hate being BS'd by staff, I should have stayed in bed!

Played at the ranch on Sat 29th. Valley 9 was in great shape, fairways near perfect and greens smooth and fast. low lying areas took some water damage from the recent rains, but didn't come into play unless you hit a bad shot. Mountain 9 recently aerated but still pretty good! Should be just as nice as valley in about a week. They are letting the rough grow back here, it was plush and punishing. For $52 on a Sat. morning, a great deal!!

Moreno Valley golf course is(was) one of my all time favorite golf course. Its fun and cheap. The green was well-maintained and fast enough to make me nervous in few holes. They are having a August sale at $48 for a weekend, can't much complain about their rate.
Now, let me tell you what's gone bad.
First, the traffic. Its really bad anyway you are coming from. In fact, I had to take 60E fwy first before I can detour to 10W fwy. Expect to drive....few more(?) hours.
Second, the closing of "Lake" course due to the home constructions. Not only it makes 2 other courses(mountain, valley) busy, the whole golf course is now completely surrounded by newly built home.
Personally, I do not like the golf course when it is surrounded by homes. Looking other person's backyard is not my idea of having a good view.

Played wed morning first group off, finished in 3 hrs. course has always been one of my favorites! Course condition is not what it used to be in the past, but it used to be overpriced in the past. Now it is the same green fee it was 5 yrs. ago! Classic Pete Dye design, railroad ties, mounding around greens, large deep bunkers, ect. Valley 9 reminicent of PGA West Stadium, although not as penal! Mountain 9 offers some tough and picturesque golf!!!

I had read a lot about this course, mostly that it had gone downhill, but I got to say I was pleasantly surprized. The greens are really good and very slick, but get this they hold shots!!! Fairways are a bit thin, very little rough, but the course really doesn't need it. Go with a open mind the money is cheap for a Saturday morning and we finished our round in about 3 hours and 45 minutes.

This used to be a great course two years ago, since then the conditions have gotten significantly worse. The tee boxes are in bad shape, the rough is very thin and the course overall is dry as well as wet in places it shouldn't be. Whoever has taken over that course is leading it in the wrong direction.

Really tough golf course if played the first time. Greens were rock hard but luckily they roll true.
Fairways were a little roughed up.
However, the views here are great.
Some holes are devilish but it provides a great challenge. Try it out during the weekdays and you will know what I mean.
