Played as a foursome on a weekday afternoon and paid $17 per person (includes the cart). This is a challenging course with an interesting layout but it is not well maintained. Most of the greens have lots are bare spot and are miserable to putt on. A few of the greens were in good condition. Sand traps and tee boxes were ok but lots of brown patches and bare areas throughout the fairways. If this course was better taken care of I'd come back more often. It has potential and I won't complain too much for $17.

Not a snob about golf courses...so here it is...not bad at all given the location and age of the course. Yes it could stand to be renovated, but the tee $ is about where it should be. $13.00 for a weekday tee time...(C4TT on-line)...I'll never complain about. I only had ONE green that was bad...even still, easy to read and putt on. Overall the fairways and tee boxes were in good shape. definately not and up-scale course, but well worth the cost, challenge, and fun!!

Played Sat morning July 19. Fairways were scalped, greens were either sand, burnt/patchy, or had 2 different kinds of grass on them. Not fun to putt on. Started out behind a 6 some and a 4 some ahead of them, neither groups knowing etiquette. Watched as they took practice swings in traps and didn't rake, scuffed their spikes across the greens, take phone calls when it's their turn to play, and just about every hole had pin damage when I got there. Yeah and they played the blues. This course has it's up and downs and seems to take in the beginning players. Marshall did split up the 6 into 2 3's and move them 2 holes ahead after I called from the first tee where we waited on them. Cart girl around often. Not going back for awhile.

Played here 6/14 and the course is in decent shape. The problem, as always here, is consistency of the conditions throughout the course. Greens vary in speed from one hole to the next and there are a few greens that are almost burnt out and/or seemingly under repair. All that said, however, I love the layout here and it's a good deal at $43 with cart on weekends. I wouldn't hesitate to go back again soon.

Played Sat May 31 at 9. 2 greens were heavily sanded and 1 green was half and half. They have been switching over to Bermuda greens. On #6, the uphill par 3, it is no longer a tiered green. You can't tell from the teebox but it's flat. They've taken out the palm trees and fence on the left and made it a lateral instead of OB. There were a lot of palm trees missing all over the course and entrance. Cart girl was available, but there was nobody on the course. Played as a twosome and never caught anyone. It's on it's way back to being a good course again. Good job.

Wow! Major improvements over last year! Clubhouse check-in desk was better located. Had a basket of complimentary ball mark repair tools & it appears most people are using them. The greens are way better than last summer. Fairways are actually excellent right now. I never had a bad lie when I hit the short grass. The rough is a little sparse but thats ok. The layout is demanding enough that you don't need 3" rough as defense against par. It's the best bargain I know of around here. I hope they keep improving this diamond in the rough. It has a way to go but the potential here is huge because the layout is very good.
They do need to open access to a snack bar downstairs & employ a cart girl(person). Maybe they had that earlier in the day. I played Sunday afternoon with a click4teetimes special of $15.00.

Played for the click4teetimes rate of $15 on Saturday afternoon. WOW! Without going into a lot of detail about the course, while the course (particularly the greens and the ball mark damage) could use some work, this course has the potential to offer some great challenges to the average golfer. Wind, elevation changes, variety of hole lengths, fast greens (the day we played), water, right to left holes, left to right holes, great sand -- this course is a pretty good test. But, if the course management would read this, with a little work, your course could be awesome. Anyway, you can't beat the rates and the experience. Clubhouse amenities were sparse if that is what you come for.

a challenging course that demands that you put the ball in the right place on the greens. a green in reg doesnt mean anything if you are in the wrong place. played it 1/31/08 was in good shape. it is close to my house and a good bargain on click4teetimes 15-20$ on weekdays. shape has been improving but not perfect yet. if you can score here then you aint that bad.

Played on 1/18/08 for $25 dollars. This course has an interesting layout with many challenges but its in rough shape. Greens were slow with lots of damage and MANY bare spots which made putting miserable. Fairways, teeboxes and rough were also in poor shape.

This course is tough and it seems that each hole presents a different challenge. Water comes into play on many holes and there are many elevation changes, rocky hillsides and deep ravines which will punish you if you aren't accurate off the tee. 25mph wind gusts made it even more challenging. To add one more challenge, our golf cart died at the 2nd hole. We called it in but staff never came with our replacement cart. We walked the course until the turn which wasn't a big deal but the customer service at Quail Ranch is weak.

Even though the review is mostly negative, the course has potential, and I wasn't expecting too much for 25 bucks.

It's unfortunate that this course has deteriorated in recent years, because it really is good, tough course. Some of the greens have some rather large bare spots, and it's disappointing to see. The tee boxes are a little shabby, too. Perhaps, they'll be able to get it back to its original splendor some day. As for the course, some of the greens are quite undulating, and they force you to hit a particular spot on your approach. The hills and the wind can make this course longer than it reads, so there are a few holes where it's important to give it ride off the tee...and you'd better be straight, too. There are several sneaky water hazards, so it's important to take note of those before you tee it up. On the green, it's very important to keep the ball below the hole. You'll also note that the ball tends to break toward Moreno Valley. Good luck!

I thought my wife and i had received a good deal through click4teetimes when we pulled up to the golf course and i looked out i could see the spotty fairways. The pace of play was good some of the greens were tore up and #8 had a goffer hole in it. This course is poorly maintained they need to put some of the money back into the course. We could see that it is not used for the club house or the course. I could keep going I didn't like the way the course was maintained or the colf carts.

Played 7/29, just before their plans to aerate the greens. Its good they're doing that, since many of the greens need alot of work. alot of the dead spots, and it just so happened that they chose to place the pins right in those dead spots - really messed up some good attempts at birdies. Also many spots along the course have been laid with new sod, as much of the course still needs work. Overall, still an enjoyable course and worth the price. Oh, but watch out for all the d%mn flies!

this course could have potential. quite a few holes with interesting layouts that would make 18 interesting. looked like it would be nice while driving up, like an oasis in a desert. unfortunately, the condition of the course was just terrible. huge brown patches in the middle of fairways, greens that hadn't been mown in days making them run shaggy, rough that was inconsistent, 2" in places and nonexistent in others...right next to one another! i wondered why it was only $13 on click4teetimes. no i know why.

The course is comming back nicely. The previous greens keeper let the greens die off. The new guy has been there for about a year and has really done a nice job getting them back. there might be 2 or 3 left with some dry bumpy areas but the others are in good shape. They are in the middle of replacing all of the sand in the bunkers as well (another slip up by the previous guy) and the sand is very nice on the holes that are done. Over all for $30 bucks it is a great deal and a great course for a mid to lower handicapper.

Driving 1hr/20min, It was a little bit hard to find exit to the golf course.
I passed exit and came back to the exit. The golf course is pretty good but front nine holes' greens are brown. I can say 'It was good to play."
If you are first visitor over there, be careful there are water, or OB zone, red pole.

Played on Memorial Weekend (Sunday 2:30 time)...for the $15 w/cart fee, it was great!! Several sand traps are marked ground under repair and many greens are either dried out or diseased. The greens were also very firm as they were not holding shots very well. The tee boxes are great as well as the fairways. If the greens come back to life, this course will be awesome to play. In the existing conditions, it is still worth the price if you are willing to drive out there. I'll be playing here again at least a couple more times this year.

$34.00 total cost for two (inculding $4.00 for booking thru Click4TeeTimes). The greens on one and two haven't come in yet (very sandy, bumpy and hard) and there is a temporary green on 6 but the rest of the greens are in great shape, a little fast, fairways very good, customer service outstanding. A very pleasent day well worth the price and then some.

I have played the course 3 times in the last 6 months and only once was I able to play all 18 holes. They either had the front or back nine closed for maintenance. Suggest you call before you go. Hopefully, with all the maintenance they are doing it will become better course. It does have some very intresting hole layouts.

The course is in pretty decent shape considering all the recent changes. The first two greens are new but havent grown in yet so it looks worse than it is. They held a shot from 80yds and rolled fairly quick. There were 3 other greens on the front side that had some bare spots but nothing too bad. The tees and fairways on both both front and back were in terrific shape and when those 5 greens get back in shape the course will be packed. It is a very fun layout with fairly wide fairways(not too wide) that if you miss here or there you should still have shot. Will return in near future.

This is a great track. Away from any homes and development. No two holes are the same (or remotely so). After new ownership took over, they have spent $$$$ to get this place green and it's definitely getting there. Here's the good parts: 1. Fairways near perfect. 2. Tee boxes are lush. 3. Club house is clean, but has pretty much no golf equipment to speak of. Bad parts: 1. Several greens are new and very immature. Several other greens are very spotty. 2. The rough is very inconsistent. 3. The bunkers are very firm, so don't use a wedge with any bounce.
Once this course gets into deep spring, it should be much better, but I think the greens are still one season away. Don't expect alot and you will be very happy to play here.
One other note: No matter what the putt looks like, look for Lake Perris across the way and that's where the putt will FLY to!

I love this course. It started to go bad for a bit but a new course superintendent and some hard work has really proved to be the right choice. They have really got this course in good to great shape right now. For the money this is a really fun track with some fairly challenging holes. The slow play is attributed to the SNOW BIRDS down from Canada for the winter. They are very slow and (sorry not very good) because they are usually a husband/ wife team and 5 or 6 shots from a person to get to a par 4 green just kills me. Ask the reservationists about the times around yours to make sure it is not a snow bird day. Otherwise for $25 bucks this is the best value around.

Played on Sept. 23 in the middle of several renovations. Holes #1 and #9 had temporary greens. Many of the other greens had severe damage that was covered with sand. The fairways were thin in many spots as well. Oh, and beware if you have an afternoon tee time as the wind blows rdiculously hard in that area. However, due to the cheap green fees and great conditions in the past, I will definitely be back once the renovations are through.

Not my week, played Quail Ranch for the 1st time today,8:30 tee time, no one on the course. Green fee for senior is terrific, but its there for a reason, the place is not in very good shape. I really liked the course, the scenery was terrific, lakes, brown hills, no houses, quiet, etc. However, the greens were torn up,fungus from the heat, dirt areas,a 6 footer was difficult to get to the hole. I dont blame them for letting them grow fuzzy to try to protect them, but this was very bad. The fairways were spotty but OK, be good in a few weeks maybe, bunkers did not look good but played very well. The layout is fun, driver almost every hole, the par threes are great fun. But, whoever graded this place as "great" must have been a local,or hasnt played a great conditioned course for awhile. I very much want to return if and when they get the greens back to good condition. In the meantime if ya gotta drive a ways to play I wouldnt until someone says its in good shape again. Another good sign was they had a lot of workers on the course. Things to watch out for, Markers in the ground vs stakes to the side were sometimes 20 yards different. Pace of play would be better if yardage was marked better. Last ,,here we are playing on crappy greens, and someone in front of us is spitting sunflower shells on the greens,We figure anyone that does that is just plain stupid. I am sure too stupid to bother reading anything like this site, but we can only wish bad things for this person.

Played Sun morning, pace of play was quick, we tee'd of before men's club. Course is still gradually improving, turf conditions are good, the bare spots that are there are because of maintenance, not neglect. Bunkers are much improved and greens are smooth. #9 is a temporary green as they are redoing the whole surface, they have always had a problem w/ this green so this is good! Cheap price, good conditions, outstanding layout, what more could you ask for. Maybe a Hooters tourny.

Played here Saturday at 9:30 on Click4TeeTimes for $38 incl. fee and it's a really great deal for that price. The course is green for the first time in a long time and the greens are fast and in great condition. A word of warning: Do not practice putt on the practice green near the chipping green. It is super slow and not indicative of the greens on the course. Also, there is a temporary green on No. 9 making it about 75 yards shorter than normal. Otherwise, course is in great shape and pace of play moved pretty good. I had forgotten what a great layout this is due to the less-than-great conditions that usually exist here. Hopefully they keep it in the shape it is now or keep improving in the future.

Course is improving, and offers all the challenge you could want. New management has it heading in the right direction. Slow pace of play mostly due to hacks playing the back tee's. Course is a bear from the back with many forced carries and OB. collars of greens replaced with real grass, removing the Kikuya, this keeps it from infiltrating the greens and now you can bump and run. Downside is the lack of rough, patch or bare much like General Old. Greens all break twards lake Perris. Not bad for $40 on a Sunday morning. The will be punching the greens on the 12th.

Played Saturday 3/18 7:30am. The course was in great condition and didn't seem to be affected by any of the rains. The greens were fast and very challenging......extremely tough to get approaches to stick unless you hit a high, looping wedge. (# 11 Par 3 green with pin placement in the back was murder). I loved the layout and the diversity of the par 3's.....short and long, uphill and downhill. This course is definately a must play and a bargain for $ 43 on the weekend. The only downside was the foursome two groups ahead of mine. They slowed the tempo considerably. However, we still had a great time on a good course!

Played 2/1 9:30 from Blue tees 6800+ yards. It's been a couple years at least as we gave us on this course due to poor maintenance but the new owners have made strides in improving conditions. The course layout is a very good one and rates are unbelieveably cheap....$21 for Senior midweek including cart. Clubhouse is tired and the have plans to replace. Some of the greens are quite difficult with severe breaks....#9 was in bad repair but being played anyway with 2 putt max. All in all worth an occassional play but they still have quite a ways to go.

The Quail seems to be trying to make a comeback, again! Played this course with some city slickers from the beach area and this course had them working real hard to grasp old school golf. The front nine is still quite bare in spots and the greens are rough, but overall very playable. The back nine is really in great shape the greens are very fast and true with the fairways in nice shape, it looks like they're really putting in an effort to bring this old course back to its glory days, never seen so many course workers out there in many years. Give head pro Colby a call and get in a round soon here. How's 16.00 to ride and play sound! Keep up the good work guys.

We play there 11/25/05. Entrance to the club house looks nice but inside is bad. Feel like you are in a temporary construction site.
They did not even had score cards but carbon copies.
The course layout are fine. Interesting course. Overall fairway and green conditions are fair. If they do some TLC to overall club, I would go back and play again. Until then, it doesn't worth the drive.
Finally, snack bar - FOUR thumbs down. Pack your own snack or lunch.

Absolute Garbage!!! Right when I entered the Clubhouse I was wondering how bad a day it was going to be. I found nothing that resembled a Pro Shop. I wanted to buy a sleeve of balls and only found a few gloves and some "Rental" collared shirts near the cash register. To hit balls at the range, you paid $5 for an empty bucket and filled it down by the range from a garbage can. The adventure only gets worse. The Marshal notified us that the sprinklers were left on all night on hole #10 and #18 and they had just aereated the greens and overseeded the fairways. No prob with that, I saw the alert here on Greenskeeper, I could deal with punch holes and some sand. But it seemed like they used equipment that was 50+ years old or broken. Most of the punched greens had holes that seemed to be raised when the machine pulled out. So there was virtually no chance to hit in a straight line because of the small volcanoes that were supposed to be punch holes. I don't know if it was the type of grass or what but all the fairways and tee boxes were DEAD! I've seen overseeding before, but this looks like they raked every bit of live grass off the course. A few bunkers were hard as rocks with puddles in them. The course layout is great, I can only imagine the challenge when you don't have to deal with horrible conditions. I've read older comments on the course and was looking forward to playing Quail Ranch, but I guess 4-6 months can really turn things for the worst.

The only thing that i can say is good about this course is the price..After 11 it was only 16 w/a cart..But the play was horrible, the greens were very d%mn slow...Even with the price i dont think ill ever play here again.. It aint worth the green fee even though it was only 16 w/ a cart.....

Even at $16.00 green fees are questionable due to the rapidly deteriorating playing conditions. Greens are little water hazards.

Played on 7/9 and what a difference 2 weeks can make. Will not play again for weekend rates this summer. Greens on front nine are getting a fungus or something, and 7 of 9 were actually casual water. Seriously if you were playing through the green you would have taken relief. Have never seen greens with so much standing water on them. The bunkers were also soaked and just unplayable. For the week day price of $16.00 the course might be worth the cost, but at $39.00 for weekend it is a total waste of your money. The back nine was is in better shape but save your money and play somewhere else.

Played today(7/1), the course was in great shape, and the green fees were inexpensive. What a deal! Beside the sketchy cart bridge it was an awesome round.

Played on 6/22 and found the course to be in very good condition. Some of the tee boxes were scruffy but the fairways and greens were very good. Rough though not real long is very hard to play out of, especially around the greens. The grass is either very wiry Bermuda or Kikouyu, all I know is it tricky around the greens. Greens are not real fast and it seems like some of the undulation is gone. Anyway did not seem to break as drastically as I remember from a year or two back. Green fee is unbelievably low making this the best bargain in all of SoCal. Course is very fair but very tough, some greens are easy three putts if your shot is in the wrong position. Helps you to understand why Pinehurst was so difficult.

Nice course with a very modest pro shop and coffee shop. I would suggust either eating well before playing or bringing your own food. The morining i played the waitress\cook could only take and prepare one order at a time. Unfortunately there is nothing else close by. Remember putts break towards the main road.

Quail Ranch is worth the green fees and the drive. You cannot experience this type of layout in any of the L.A. county courses. It gets a bit windy and hot, but I think it is worth the green fees.

In any condition this course is very tough, you play this track well you can play anywhere! The course offers its scoring holes but don't get too cocky this Quail bites and Beware of Snakes! a great value to test your game.

Good Challange. Green's are this course's defense...Need some local knowledge on them. Some Real Tough Holes. All in All, a real good test of golf with good conditions

Played Jan. 16, don't know if the recent rain storms had anything to do with conditions but the course seemed to be pretty spotty. Some areas on the fairways were pretty moist while others bare and dry. The greens were so-so fast and a little rough but consistant. The layout is a little hilly, and on a couple of tees its hard to tell witch fairway is yours. All in all not a bad course ,good test.

Good course but the fairways could use a little work. Greens are in great shape but fast and tricky. Overall Quail is a very fun, challenging course! Worth the drive and the price.

Played on a Thursday for $15 with cart.. Greens are in great shape. Fairways and rough could use some work and water. The course gets crowded for the Tues-Thur $15 fee.

The fairways are very poor, patchy. really need attention. Greens are well maintained, but very challenging. Course is very hilly, best to take a cart.

The greens and bunkers are in good condition. The fairways and rough have not been well maintained. The layout of the course is challenging and fun. The low green fees and layout make it worth a play but the drive to Moreno Valley may not. If the overall condition of the course improved considerably this would be a great course.

Wild course, had a great time."Cliffcooldog" right on about the greens, but in your assessment you left out small and undulated. It's a good course for a great price, good staff, good food and bottled beer. Only complaint, It's winter and it's cold......

I just played this course a few weeks ago. I think it's a wonderful course with beautiful scenery. The greens were ridiculously fast. Great for the price, but it's way out in the boonies.

Played 4-18-03 very enjoyable, tuff track, great price, not far off the 60, played early, do not think the greens were mowed that AM, needs some work, but will not keep me from going back, will be taking my Sat. boys out in May.

I have played this course a few times and I have enjoyed even more each time I go out. The conditioning of the course is not the best, but the greens are wonderful. This course is alos the best kept secret for a value round in the county!
