If you enjoy uneven tee boxes, fairways that are the same as the rough, gopher holes, water hazards without water, and loud mariachi music serenading you while you tee off and putt then this is the place for you.

The only positives are that the greens are decent and the price is low.

With some hesitation I decided to give this course a try. After all it's very cheap. First off, this course is great if you just want to practice your driving. The fairways are wider than wide. I happen to like all the long par-4's. The greens are in good condition and I'm sure that's because no body plays here.
The goods end there. This course is in horrible condition. It has so much potential, but I just don't think they generate enough income to maintain it properly. I lost quite a few balls in the fairways and rough because the grass is tall and littered with gopher holes. They should let people drive their ATV's here instead of golf carts.
$15 to play with a cart and $5.50 for replays. I'd play here just for the hell of it if it wasn't so far away. With that said I probably won't be back before this place goes out of business.

Look, last time I rated this course, I may have gone overboard. But serious attention needs to be paid to the remarks about this course. Something needs to be done. Other than the greens, this course is in detestable shape. There's no telling where the fairways begin and rough ends; there's gopher mounds all over the place, there's barely any quality grass on the course, and there doesn't seem to be any signs of work being done to improve. I mean, the fact that there were a handful of cars in the parking lot ALL SATURDAY MORNING tells it all. I almost feel sad, because I played this course alot when I took up the game a few years ago. It wasn't much to brag about then, but at least it was enjoyable. I don't even know how they generate enough revenue to keep this place open. My honest opinion - they need to close this place for a while and do a complete overhaul. Otherwise, it will remain the laughing stock of Riverside, and the entire Inland Empire, for that matter.

Plow it up and start over. Course in awful condtion. Ball washers, carts and benches don't make a good golf course. Just driving up you know you've wasted your time. The city of Riverside needs to find someone who knows how to maintain a course. Fairmont Park is just as bad.

I played 4-7-08 and I am impressed with the changes. All new carts and benches, ball washers hole maps on every tee box. The course has been re-confgured to old layout so the cart paths make sense again. The greens are good and much improved from last year and should be very good soon as this is the growing season. The tee boxes are OK not great some were pretty unlevel. The fairways are improved from last year and are playable. Very nice staff and excellant food at the clubhouse. Good effort is being shown by the management here as course is much improved and well worth the money. Keep an eye on this place. It could be most improved course in the area soon as long as prices stay reasonable. It will never be an Oak Quarry but it is a nice friendly Muni track.

Great course if you want to drink beer with your shirt off and wack golf balls occasionally. That's about all this place is good for. It's a cow pasture that looks like the cows ate all the grass. They let people bring their own beer and coolers and play w/o shirts, if that is any indication of what this place is like.

On Saturday, 1-26, I went to get a practice round in. Chose this course for its proximity to home, price & didn't think it would be crowded. There were mostly 2-somes out there & we finished 18 in just over 3 hours. Actually played 24 holes in about 4 hrs. Only come here if you don't mind a little 'ghetto golf" once in a while. The course is really shabby. Fairways are non-existent. There is not enough green grass to mow a defined fairway. It's so bumpy you better strap your clubs in tight or they end up all over the "fairway". Surprisingly the greens weren't too bad. Improved from 3 months ago. 15 bucks to ride on a weekend afternoon, I got what I paid for, barely.

I hadn't played here in years. They've changed the front nine - for the worse. Just came here cause I only had time for a quick nine. Well, it was quick as I got 13 holes in 2 hours. Course is in poor condition. It's very brown although the fairways didn't play as bad as I thought they would. Greens were slow & furry. There's a few holes you can really bang it off the tee. It's too bad they don't fix this place up. The fast pace of play is really the only reason to play here.

the staff is very friendly and helpful. the conditions aren't great but twilite with a cart price is only $15 so what can you expect. the greens are getting better, they are defenatly working on them. a good course to play for the first time or to play a quick 18 after work

OK, just to get it out of the way, this is not a great course. I played on September 23 and the grass was nearly dead, the bunkers were as hard as a granite floor, and I played miserably (OK, I play miserably almost all of the time, but hey...).

All that said, I also knew what I was getting into. I wasn't expecting to be playing Newport Beach Country Club or Empire Lakes, I was expecting a below-average muni track. Don't play Riverside thinking you're going to get a pristine experience and you'll be better off.

As for the course, the third hole is a tricky par 5 with a waste area (I think it's supposed to have water going through it) about 25-50 yards from the green, which also has a pond at the lower right corner. If the Santa Anas are blowing (like it was Saturday), the 12th hole can be a fun one to drive because you'll have a stiff wind at your back for the tee shot. At the same time, that turns into a tricky crosswind on the par 3 13th hole.

Most of the fairways are spacious, making this a good course to bomb tee shots on.

If they dropped the greens fees, this would be a decent cheap track to play. As it is, it's not enough of a course to make it totally worth $25 on the weekends.

Unless you're practicing your driving, you don't want to play here. This course is terrible. We went there 12/26/05 and the fairway grass is dead, it was light brown/ yellow in color. The greens were all bumpy! I will never again play on this course.

If you just think of it like you are Old Tom Morris and this is 19th century Scotland, you can have a great day at this course. With a price of $25 (incl cart) after 10 AM on weekends and $15 after noon, you can't go wrong. My husband and I can drive 38 miles (each way) to the course, and play in less than 4 hrs. for $30-50 + 4 gal. of gas, versus $104 and a 5+ hour round at Green River. Less frustration and far less money--just pretend it's Scotland without the sheep. There are some beautiful Canadian honkers though!!

I've realized that enjoying golf is more than just getting a good price for greens fees and a cart. Golf should feel like a nice stroll or ride in a park.

The price is cheap here, and deservedly so. Conditions are awful. There is so much unfinished work-in-progress here, some of which I think the superintendent forgot about. There are metal pipes buried under long weeds and crabgrass around some of the greens. Dangerous cart driving conditions.

I'm done going to these cheap courses just because they are cheap. A lot of people belittle the conditions at Whispering Lakes, but Riverside makes Whispering Lakes look like a country club.

Played at twilight price after work on a week day. My son-in-law's first time out on a course, it's a great place for a beginner as there was virtually no one within 3 holes of us in front or behind. Just about everyhole is straightforward with nothing fancy except some good-looking mature trees along the fairways. Certainly not high end but when you just need to get out and swing the clubs, this is the place for it - and with very reasonable prices. I'll be back for sure.

A good "Practice" Course, since there is not much trouble you can work on a various shots and not worry too much about the results. Still worth playing

The Course is getting a bit worn. The Fairways are begining to brown, but it is still a good value and a good course for beginners.

This is a very flat tree lined course. Some trees have such dense foliage, that you can easily have no shot to the green if behind one of them. A staight forward course with some wide fairways and some narrow ones. Water comes into play on 5 holes. OB on the left comes into play on 1,15,16,17, and 18. 18 is a great risk/reward par5. The slope rating should not be 112 but 120, especially with the rough being heavy in many areas. The smooth greens are the best thing about this course. Lots of sutle breaks make putting harder than you think on this course.
