CPennbo - Big Bear
Not bad for a tiny mountain course. Way overpriced but it's the only game in town so what's a local to do? Narrow fairways, thick rough. They've been doing some work off-season to improve the course but the greens are still slow and "bumpy". You can't putt here like you would on real greens. A couple of challenging holes. Water and/or creeks come into play on several holes. Weekends can find it full of folks out for fun so if quick play is your thing play weekdays. Weekends are generally very busy.

mcantos - lake forest
played bear mountain on sat. It was a brisk 40 degrees and I was using borrowed clubs because I wasn't suppose to bring mine. (Aka Family weekend) I did find some clubs in the garage and got the ok so off I went. It is only 9 holes but the fairways are wide and the greens are nice and smooth. Lots of friendly people at the course and the Big Bear area itself. It is a regulation 9 hole and if you are up here you can't go wrong by playing here.
