Wow, this course has amazingly gone DOWNHILL!!! Lets start with the tee time issue which may have simply just been an anomaly, but apparently their online tee-time booking "double-booked" alot of tee times. Our scheduled tee time was at 8:00 a.m., due to the double-booking we didn't tee off our until 8:45 a.m.

Fairways were really shaggy and at times it felt like I was in the rough instead of the fairway. THERE IS ALOT OF CONSTRUCTION GOING ON, they are placing new bunkers and so forth....definitely didn't get my "moneys worth" based on course conditions.

The greens were surprisingly in good shape...most courses have alot of Poa Annua growing out of them. Los Serranos has managed to keep the Poa Annua out and the greens are in really great shape with very little if any pitch marks to my eye. They are over-watering them due to the heat I suppose, so you must play all carry because it will not roll to the pin.

I was in a few bunkers, mostly greenside bunkers and they played pretty consistent with lots of sand to go through and make that nice "thumping" sound to get out of the trap.

The starters were pretty nice guys and they handled themselves pretty well for having a few irate golfers due to the double booking issue I mentioned earlier....I don't know, based on todays' course conditions I definitely would not come back and pay $71 (with a cart) to play this course. I was here a few years ago and many Eucalyptus trees have been cut down and lots of new baby staked trees are all over the place. Personally, I probably won't be back until 10 years from now...wait for all the construction and those trees to grow out some. Maybe then, the course will be in great shape!

the course looks pretty good. the greens are nice, number one has little holes all over it, but is still reasonable to putt on. no complaints really, course is always fun.

Took the Golf Now discount for a Tuesday mid morning tee time. Temps in mid 90's and humid. Played from the whites with a headache so not at my best. In addition, swing thoughts made results bad until 15th hole.

Greens are in very good mid summer shape with minimal damage nor divot trouble. Fairways are dry except in collection areas it is wet from the sprinklers. Traps and tee boxes were in good shape. This was my third attempt at the South and will return as I like the layout and the challenges moreso than the North which in my opinion has some wacky holes (#3 comes to mind due to the green).

Course was in really good shape. The greens were smooth and had very few ball marks. Fairways a little dry and brown, but it is hot and summer time. They didn't take away from good play though. Sand looked good, luckily I was not in them. Overall a fun time had.

PLAYED ON SATURDAY, GOLF COURSE REALLY CROWDED. 3-4 TOURNAMENTS IN PROGRESS. PRETTY SURE GOLF COURSE OVERBOOKED TODAY. HAD RESERVATIONS ON THE NORTH COURSE, BUT PLAYED THE SOUTH COURSE 30 MINS PAST ARE TEE TIME. A WAIT OF 2-3 GROUPS ON EVERY HOLE. COURSE CONDITIONS WERE DECENT. GREENS ROLL GOOD BUT ALITTLE BUMPY. FINISHED THE ROUND IN 5 HOURS AND 30 MINS

played 5-7 in the aerly afternoon. We got a killer deal from golfnow.com for $20.00. For that price I'd play this place all the time. Pace of place was really good till about the 13th hole when we fianlly caught up with the group in front of us...by group I mean the single golfer playing by himself. Course was in pretty good shape. The greens were very receptive, they rolled good, but were kinda medium speed.

Played today 5/20 7:30 tee time. Course is in great shape, lush from tee to green. The front 9 is in better condition than the back 9. Back 9 had some dry spots on some of the fairways. Greens were firm but held shots, rolled med fast. Played in 4 hours. Two marshals kept coming around to check on pace of play. We were right on top of group aheas of us. Waited to hit on maybe 2 holes. Nice day, good golfing.

Played on Saturday 5/2/08 - round took 6 hours - lots of fivesomes and pace of play obviously slow - far cry from 20 years ago when marshals at this course whipped everybody along in 4.5 hours! Overall course conditions good - overabundance of kikouya leads to not much roll in fairways and spongy lies - greens were in good shape. South is not a course for those who cannot consistently hit 250yd+ drives. Would play there again but for the pace of play.

i played this course today 4/21 for the first time. This course definitely will test you. Its long and nice. the greens are in good condition. they were soft and held shots well. i cant believe how some people can just leave their ball marks on the green. you should help keep them nice. that was the only complaint i had. Very fun course and i highly recommend playing it.

lived in chino till 25, pardon me if i drool over this gem. for any golfer south and north courses are a must play. the original gangster 7,400 course in california pre-tiger woods. south is my favorite, long and fairly wide open, very up and down with hills. greens are always nice.

north, nice and fun but the little brother to the south. if yer a 10 handicap, you'll be 20 over on south.......

ask about tournaments, stay away if yer behind em....it can take 5 + hours. get out early AM on weekend (6-8 AM). reasonable prices.

Tee boxes were terrible and there were many bare spots throughout the course. Even a few of the greens were torn up pretty bad. I am usually a big fan of this course but this is the worst I have seen this course in my 5 years of playing it.

Played 1/5/08 after heavy rain. Sand traps were still mini ponds so not really fair to rate them. Considering the rain that had fallen so recently the course was in pretty good shape. Greens ran pretty smooth, most of the water had drained although we did play lift and place. Big plus was the place was empty - locals must have been hiding from the rain that didn't come till after we finished.

course was in pretty good shape, not a lot of consistancy on the greens speed. Mix the north and south courses and you would have a killer course. But layout as it is you feel the hole you are playing is just like the last one, on occasion.

Played this AM, havent been here for awhile, more changes, more trees being planted in some of the fairways , thats good,, tightens up the place,, NEW sand in the bunkers, soft sand, ugly soft sand,, will get better when it settles. Tees are OK, fairways are the usual, some good some just OK. Greens are weird. most very lush, soft, softer, mushey, footprints leave depressions. They need to be cut and rolled, maybe like the practice greens, they were great. Staff as always very good.

Played today 9:45am start 2:30pm finish. Staff was very friendly. Got stuck behind a very slow group. Marshall suggested we skip around them, even though there was nobody else out there. Very windy day, played well though. group Played from the white tees, still over 6600 yards. smart thing with the conditions, four clubs against the wind sometimes wasn't enough. Greens had been punched probably a couple weeks ago, but were not that bad. Sand traps were barren sadly because of the recent weather, balls rolled through and out. It is very smokey out there in so cal. we should probably stay indoors!

Played 9/5 with a golf now discount. Place was deserted, except for the foursome in front of us who wouldn't let us, a twosome, play through. Would have been nice to see a marshall who could have set them straight. That said, course is in decent condition. Fairways have seen better days. Lots of ground under repair. They were punching the 18th fairway so it was lift, clean and place. Some of the greens were perfect, others were bouncy with some bare spots. All goes hand in hand with the weather. As you all know, it's a good test of golf. Just don't pay full price right now. for the $, Goose Creek is in better shape.

Hadn't played the south course for several years! I was very impressed with the greens. Some of the better greens I've played on! Fairways were either very good or non existent (dirt). The traps were fantastic. (I was in many of them) While I certainly miss all the trees which died, the course still has enough character on it's own to make it still one of the better public tracks. The rate for a walking senior is still decent, so I've have to force myself to come back more frequently.

first time on the south in a couple of years. greens very good, but very soft. there is a lot of bare spots on the fairways. the sand traps are some of the best around. they really need to work on the watering of the course. some spots are way overwatered and other spots are bone dry. you have to play lift/clean/place in some spots. overall, nice long ass course.

Played Saturday morning 8/11/07 in a tournament - day was clear and hot with only mild breezes. Course in generally good condition, greens rolled well, were pretty soft and receptive. Many have gotten smaller over the past couple years as course has adjusted to loss of all their trees. Bunkers in good shape. Some places in the fairway and along hole margins were in poor condition - sloppy wet, rutted from vehicles passing, unmowed. Other fairways were bone dry and cracked, without grass. Looks like a water distribution problem. Something new from my previous visits - a "cart guy" selling beer and who knows what else. Plenty of water available. Needs more attention to conditioning and water distribution, but recommended.

Played Sat 08/11. Started with good service from Pro Shop. We were sent out on time. Fairways are just OK. Few bare spots. Use to be lot better but must be the weather... Greens are medium speed. Soft in the morning and got better as the round progress. Bunkers are overall very good. This is long course, more than 7000 even from the blue tee. With more bunker placements, this course got little more interesting. Player with long drive will enjoy this course. North side is lot shorter course but very interesting course with well placed bunkers.

First time playing the southside of the course on 7-3. I decided to play from jacks black tee boxes(almost 7600 yards). Didnt feel like the tips played that long, since most holes are downhill. Some holes were into the wind, but some holes were downwind.
But overall, the conditions and layout of the course is decent. Greens are soft and fast. Most likely i would play here again.

The driest year on record has not affected these greens. They are in great shape. I can't say the same for the rest of the course. There are a lot of dry spots in the fairway on both courses. The bunkers are in great shape. 3859 yards on back nine from the blacks...wow! next time...I'll do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Played here 2 months ago, things have changed for the better. 7 AM tee time, finished in 3hr45min, staff was friendly. tee boxes - most of them have been redone with new sod, they were all level with only a couple of divots. Fairways were lush and green, occassional divot (I assume the walkers, which is OK, I walk also), ball rolled good. Greens were lush carpets, very few ball marks, although the 16th had a lot of ball marks fixed 8-10 while I waited my turn to putt. 17th had a few but not like 16th. One bunker I was in had decent sand, wet but will probably dry out by noon tee times. Overall a good 7.

I played both the north and south course on 4/19. I think the south greens, even though they were punched just a few weeks ago, were in just as good of shape as it's brother the north. I actually enjoyed the south a little more. You can go wrong with either course.

This is not a course review, but thought I would take advantage of the opportunity. Kevbig - I guess you were the group behind us that were always on the tee box as we were on the greens. Now I know why you did not catch up, even tho the 2nd group ahead of us was kind of slow. We should put up and "Alert! GK Member On Course" flag at the starter window so we can all meet after the round and get to know each other. Food for thought. It was an enjoyable golf day.

I guess I played right after "Bogey". Tee'd off about 20 minutes later. I asked the pro shop if I could play Jack's Blacks today and was granted permission. Every once in a while I feel masochistic and decided that today was one of those days. I haven't played the South from the tips in a while and I must say it's just how I remember it. Long, longer, and call for help long. i.e. #18 is 677 yards. Good times. Conditions were just as Bogey said. The tee boxes were perfect (I suppose because the blacks are not used very often) and the greens are almost there after punching. Another week and they should be great. But all in all I can't complain about anything except my decision to play a course that plays 7587 yards from Jack's. haha! Shot a decent score of 81 which is only 7 over at LS-South.

The course was in pretty decent shape, has not fully recovered from the aeration, staff was friendly as always. The tee boxes were fairly level with few divots. The fairways were lush, couple of thin spots, ball ran well. Started our round about 7:10 AM, everything was damp or moist. The greens on the front nine were receptive early, on the back nine they had dried and were not holding shots on some greens. They were bumpy on some spots. The rough had been cut to about 2 inches. They were rolling the greens as we were finishing our round. The pond in front of the 18th green was drained and they were cleaning up the pond scum. I was fortunate, my shot went in and bounced out onto the green, salvaged a par.

Haven't played this side for a long while. As always, the pro shop staff was great, getting us out pretty much on time on a busy Saturday morning. They aerated about 10 days ago, so I wasn't expecting much for the greens, but all in all they rolled nicely. Kudos to the maintenance staff for doing a pretty good job. Fairways were nice, some thin spots. Only complaint were the bunkers, hard mud dirt. Unfortunately I landed in a few, watch out for the wooden rakes, lots of splinters and the fiberglass ones, weren't alot better.
Thought the pot bunkers were only on the North side on 16, but they've put a few on the South side too! All in all a fun, fun day.

Weird! a month later and L.S. South is in very nice shape, tee boxes a bit rough, but the fairways and Greens were in good shape, Greens difficult to read and a few are different than the rest. They are punching the greens Sunday I think, so, in a couple weeks it will be even better. Fairways were being punched today,, In a month this place will be terrific. South is alway slow and slower, but a fun day,,, great weather. Staff as usual was great....

Played the South course yesterday Mar. 14. Course overall is in pretty good shape. Fairways were green and lush. Greens were pretty smooth until the normal afternoon slow down, but nothing to complain about. Tee boxes however were a 3/10 at best. Several were nothing more than sand on top of dirt. But that's now where your scoring is done anyway.

played mid day on Feb. 15. About what you would expect for this year. common to most courses, the fairways are pretty bare and the greens are pretty quick. If value for the dollar is a concern, suggest you wait until the fairway grass starts to grow back. But the driving range, staff and restaurant facilities are still very good.

Been playing L.S. for many years, never have we seen it in such disrepair, never. Some of the fairways are dirt, most tee boxes are just dirt. Greens are looking good, but they are bumpy and no two greens are the same. Staff is terrific as usual,, Owners should be ashamed, charging $37 senior,$49 regular, weekday rates. Could go on and on, but will not return till we hear this place is cleaned up. A little drive and you get good golf. Too Bad. A fun track when you dont have to bump the ball 3 feet in the fairway to find grass. Way too much $$ for these conditions. One of the funniest things we have seen in a long time, the fairways have no grass, I dont mean brown grass, I mean dirt, and they had a guy out there today mowing the dirt. Somthing is wrong, this isnt usual for L.S.

Played here 01/01/2007. Let me start by saying the only positive thing I have to say about this place, excluding #1-2 the greens were VERY nice. They rolled smooth and fast even though I struggled with them all day. Now to the rest about this place. Fairways and tee boxes were in the worst shape I have ever seen them. Half the tee boxes were just mud and sand. Fairways had many brown patches or just plain mud. The course conditions today were totally inexcusable. El Prado is in better shape. At $70 for this place I expect more. This place seems to be heading down hill quickly and I will not return for quite a while.

Played here today for the first time on the South Course. Really enjoyed the round and no wind which made it even better- Felt ortunate to make it over the pot bunker- the conditions were good- the greens a bit bumpy and soft other than that-nice course.

Overall condition of the course is good, not excellent. Tee boxes were recently overseeded, etc. Fairways were decent, with a few dry spots in the edges, but considering the weather lately that's not bad. Some overwatered areas, though (11 fairway). Rough is excellent (1-3 inches). GREENS were spongy and slow, but in excellent condition for such types. One can really take a run at making par or bird, even on 15+ ft downhill/sidehill putts without missing too far past. Not too many unrepaired ball marks (applause).

Havent played the South since June, what a nice surprise. Either we are getting slower or just older we couldnt remember all the new bunkers and subtle changes since last played. Greens were better than we ever remember, fast and soft. Not too many ball marks, maybe due to softness that creates a nice divot that demands repair. Fairways were OK, Everything for a 8:30AM tee time was OK. Staff as usual was professional. All the new bunkers make the course a lot more interesting. Makes the $37 senior rate more reasonable. This is good choice if ya dont want to drive, but with the current rate Goose Creek and others are in the mix. L.S. doesnt care, they get traffic no matter what. Good job making this an interesting track versus just a long track. We dont really care which side we play these days,, both are fun. We will be back.

Was really looking forward to reviewing this course but had an accident and totally trashed my rotator cuff on 10/24. Say a prayer for Golfingdude if you are a believer, praying for some good news as to severity of injury. With Multiple Sclerosis this is the only sport left for me to enjoy, and can't imagine not being able to enjoy its beauty, challenge, and great company. Praying to be able to post some more feedbacks before too long.

Played 10-18; started just after 7:00 A.M. and finished in 3 1/2 hours.
Greens are all in good condition; many bare spots in the fairways; otherwise course is in pretty good condition. Repaired an average of 3 + ball marks on each hole and did not get all of them. Too bad those who have so little regard as to fail to repair their ball marks don't read the Greenskeeper items.

Played on 10/03 first time in many years on the South. Not since they lost of their trees. The fairways are in much better condition due to the tree loss, but it sure has had a negative impact on the character of this great ole track. All fairways on front nine are now easy targets, defense is only found in the length of the holes and tee boxes you play from. White tees were at about 6700 yards and that was plenty for us older guys. If you drive the ball like us, about 220-240 these are the boxes to play from. If you are one of those that think your 240 yard drive is really 270+ you will be in for a long difficult day playing from the blue tees (7000+yards). There are (5) par fives on the track, and most should be easy par or birdie opportunity. Only number 8 is hard to hit in regulation, requiring 3 very well struck and directed shots. Greens are fair, not real large, and roll medium, play attention on how they roll on the first couple of greens and you will get the info necessary to figure out the predominant tendency; break and speed; for all the greens on the South course. Price is okay, but you must play early or expect to be on the course more than 5 hours after you tee off. An older layout with moderate fairways, small greens, and some remaining trees to avoid. A real nice mix of holes, all par threes play differently and require wise club selection.

Played on Saturday 9/2.
This course could be a nice layout. BUT pace of play is managed so poorly. I understand weekend golf is slow in general, but this place is ridiculous. Every tee box had 2 or 3 groups waiting, not just the par 3's. There is no reason for this. Golf, no matter how poorly you play, can still be played in a reasonable amount of time. It took our group over 3 hours to play the front. We left after 9...and will not return until something is done. But I guess when you have a full tee sheet every day, you dont need to care if players return. Business is business I guess.

Played in a tournament on a sunny, hot Saturday morning 8/12/2006. This is a popular tournament course and play is generally slow. Lots of work being done on the course (it's sometimes used as a major tourney qualifier) so some distraction from new bunkers and other construction. Tree disease a few years ago took out dozens of eucalyptus trees and changed the feel of the course dramatically, and many new pine trees have been planted, and some nerw bunkers put in where entire groves died. Overall a long (6 par-5s) fun muni course usually in good shape. Overwatering has been a problem for years, with many flooded, sloppy areas around the course, and almost all greens had spongy soft areas that almost drew water when you walked across them. Many fairways had scattered or large bare spots. Recent work has resulted in the removal of many of the water fountains that were scattered around the course - now it's hard to find drinking water on a course in a dry, hot area of SoCal. Overall recommended, but be aware of conditions.

Played over July 29 weekend.
Course was in decent shape, however, I was surprised by the work being done and its effect on play. Overall, it made the course a par 72 as one par 4 and one par 5 were shortened. I am quite sure the heat from the past few weeks made everything a bit brown, but the course was still wet in some places from over watering.
Many of the tee boxes had lots of wear and tear and a couple of greens were worn around the edges. The play would have been more difficult if the rough was lush, but that was OK as play was slow enough as it was without it.
Overall, I love the design of the course with changes in elevation from tee to green on many holes. The wind also plays havoc on both long and short holes and the greens.
Service was great as the starter will put you out early, if available.

I use to live in Chino Hills and Los Serranos was my home course. I moved to chino about a year ago and i've not played there at Los Serronos since.

I have to say that i was shocked. Not only at the course but with the pro shop aswell. I called to ask how the conditions and play were, they told it is in great shape, play is at a good pace. I said"sweet" ill take a tee time, not knowing that it was going to play so sh$t ty.

I would have rather have played prado, or whispering lakes.

At Least you know what you are paying for...

P.S. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE

LOOKS LIKE A 3-6 MONTH PROJECT TO GET IT BACK TO SHAPE

Played Wed 7/26 at 7:00 A.M. in 4 hours. No. 7 is being rebuilt tee to green so is closed; play spare hole next to North 18 as finishing hole. installing several traps on right side in front of green to catch the long hitters; sorta' mickey-mouse. greens in good shape, but fairways are suffering from the current heat wave with bare spots, etc.

7:30 tee time, no one in front or behind for entire round. Good for us, maybe not so good for L.S. Course is in very nice shape, greens are better than we have ever seen them, fairways are OK, everything else is fine. Staff treats us very well. We think the senior rate during the week is causing us to look elsewhere instead of stying close to home. We would play here more often but for the $$ its OK to travel to Temecula and Riverside. We really like the South and North courses but they need to look at the group that pays the bills during the week. A fun day.

Haven't played here for a few years. I found the course it great shape when I played here recently on a tournament outing. Greens were in perfect condition for this course. I've heard that the course spent some $$ renovating (or was it to just fix "problems"), and it shows, I think. Nice layout; the scenary is great on some holes. Challenging but yet not too hard. If they can just lower the weekend green fee just a teeny bit... Now I remember why I haven't been here in a few years.

Played the south course for the first time....nice experience. Course was in good shape and played the round in 4-1/2hrs. The only gripe I had was in the club house checking in. The Los Serranos web site listed super twilite at 2:00pm at a rate of $34. When we got there they charged us $47 and said super twilite starts at 4:00. So be sure to call the course prior to going to make sure of the rate they are going to charge you.

Great course- very difficult! I played from the black tees on a cold and windy day - it was a bear! The main downer was the ridiculous pace of play- there were marshalls out there who weren't doing sanything to move the round allow and too many people playing tees that exceeded their ability level!

The course is in good shape. Having not played here in four years you really notice all the missing trees which made it play a little easier than in the past. The greens are in good shape and the bunkers are great with the right amount of sand in them. Great course will be back again.

The course is getting better. There still bare spots in the fairways and rough. The greens were a bit soft but not too many divot marks. Great layout, only wish that the course was more lush all the way around. Looking foward in playing the North course with all the new changes.

We play here a lot, its a fun track, worth the $$ most of the time ,tough in certain ways, easy in others. It gets a lot of play,it has some of the best staff around,we always are treated well,always.. But,, the folks that have posted below are either blind, regulars or never play anywhere else. The South is suffering we think due to all the maintence staff working on the North, thats OK, but to say the South is in GREAT shape is stupid. The greens look Great, they are healthy, greener than we have ever seen them, but,,, they are slow, bumpy, and slowwwww and bumpy. The fairways are dry and have very large dirt areas, I mean LARGE dirt areas in the middle of the landing area. The traps are great, the tee boxes are a mess. The South is maybe in GOOD condition at best. For the $$ its OK, for the experience its OK, for a fun round its just fine. BUT, to have a first timer show up and think its GREAT, thats not fair. We will keep on playing here, its the best around except for Goose Creek,, but it has to be rated GOOD. See ya next week.

we played on Nov. 5 - we went out as 2s and the speed was about medium. There were some areas with repairs but overall looks great.
Greens were bit bumpy due to aerating the green but should be alright once they are healed. Two thumbs up for South side.
We are going out again this Saturday to try out the North side.

WHEN I WAS WAITING TO GET ON THE LIST A 3s CHECK IN AND THE STARTER SAID HE WOULD CALL ME (WHAT A JACK@#$%). THE RANGE WAS CLOSED SO I WENT BACK IN TO ASK WHEN IT WILL BE OPEN. THE STARTER ON THE NORTH COURSE WAS A NICE GUY. HE PUT ME WITH THE 3s THAT JUST CHECK IN. WILL PLAY HERE AGAIN IN AFEW WEEKS WHEN THINGS ARE BACK TO WHAT THEY USE TO BE.

Played on 10/2. Course is torn up due to designing changes. About 7/18 tee boxes are on dirt or mud. Personally, I think there should have been discount and been told of the renovations before showing up. After playing most of the LA's courses, it isn't worth the money right now. When completed, I'm sure it will be great again.

Course looked great. Few downsides: Some Fairway aeration, small holes is a few greens and some greens soft and lumpy. The small things did not overshadow the overall condition of the course, enjoyable place to play. GPS in the carts, hit off grass at the range and had some nice kids cleaning your clubs after your round. Will go back soon.

WOW! course was in the best shape that I have ever seen it excluding the greens which had been aerated about a month ago. Fairways were lush and the traps were just about perfect. A couple of tee boxes left something to be desired but still very pleased with the overall conditions. Give the greens another two weeks and they too will be perfect

Played twilight Friday 04/01/05. Good rates since they had just aerated the greens. Apparently everyone else felt the same, so the place was packed. Was in a walking foursome constantly held up by a riding fivesome, so pace was SLOWWW!
Course has benefitted from rain and fairways were so much better than last August. Forgot how long this course is, even off the blues. All in all, OK experience - but where are those pace-of-play marshalls?

They did a great job of aerifying and sanding these greens. You get a decent roll despite the holes and sand. The fairways are in wonderful shape now that everything is dry. The bunkers need more sand, however. This is a great long layout that is not tricked up much. Be aware of the water right in front of the green on the 10th, 16, 17, and 18th. The 673 yard finishing hole is a great par 5.

Interesting day on 1.16 @ Los Serranos. A 12:30 tee time turned into teeing off @ 1:30 because the proshop overbooked and it was cart path only. Very dissapointing day. Proshop was unhelpful, course was terribly slow and people were upset. Three groups deep waiting on tee boxes and the pro shop was still sending out groups of two. The course's management, or lack thereof, really needed to step up and they blew it. We only got NINE holes in in almost FOUR hours. It was beyone ridiculous and I will definitely think twice about returning to the course on a weekend or at all for that matter. Every other tee time being booked would have still been crouded given the cart path only rule but they insisted on every 8 minutes and really angered a lot of people. Marshalls were also unhelpful and no one would take responsibility. Incompetence is annoying.

Los serranos south is a long course (7100) from the blues.
It has 6 par 5's The shortest 505 yrds the longest 590.
The course layout is very interesting with many elevated greens and tees. This course requires legnth off the tee to score well, but is fairly forgiviving on misdirected shots with the exception of some tree lined fairways. The course is in very good shape and a very good value for the price. Will not hesitate to play here again or recommend others to play here.

PLayed the course today played "Jacks Blacks" over all the course was inpretty good shape. some bare spots in the fairway and rough but not terrible. The thing that was really out of place were the water hazards. they were really just swimming pools in the fairway. over all it was worth the 28 dollars I payed to play but would not pay much more than that. At 7400 yards from jacks blacks it did not really seem that long. 6 par 5s and 3 par 3s.All in all I do believe that I would not go back but it was not a wasted trip to play golf there.

Have played the South course 5 times this year and this past weekend had the course in its best condition. The recent rains helped to firm up the greens and spruce up the fairways lushness. If you like fast true greens then this is the place to play. Played on Friday and there were a lot of tournaments going, so the pace of play was a bit slow. But if you want value for the money, Los Serranos South will give you what you want.

Not worth the green fees........ Greens very bumpy, hairy, uncut and some soft and some very hard. You get better lies in rough than in middle of fairways. Many bare spots in fairways. Course needs lots of work compared to what it used to be. Many course around that are worth playing. They should reduce green fees for what the shape course is in. They say its in " immaculate condition" on their board next to first tee, but its far from that. Why overpriced for condition. Very disappointed.

Greens were OK, but tee boxes and fairways were worn out, I know its been a long hot busy summer,, but we love this South course and cant stand its present condition. Havent played the North for awhile, with luck its in better shape. Even in its present condition South is worth the $$ but, needs attention, quickly, We will go back in November, hopefully repairs take hold.

Played 12 noon today, 2 some, course was almost empty, a bit hot but the breeze helped. Was a bit worried as the reports were that the greens were bad and the course was in disrepair. Gotta say this has been fixed, greens were just fine a bit slow but smooth and true. Talked to Mr Kramer, he advised they bought a roller machine and other stuff to help with the greens. Its summer in Chino and its a bit hot but the South course from the blues is a 136 and its all you want. fun course and LONG. worth the $$$..

They have done a great job improving the overall course since loosing all the deseased trees. There's one bad tee box, always has been, and probably always will be. #8. It's not a big deal though. The real disappointment is the greens. You could always count on LS to have short, true greens. They're terrible now. You must get your mind set on "hit and hope" mode. Very high, extremely bumpy. The blooms on the poa annua were so high that I picked a bouquet for my wife. It's actually comical to watch the longer putts from the side to see all the bouncing.

Oh yeah....I forgot to mention...one of the tee boxes - on the back-side - I don't remember the hole number - was part moonscape and part minefield - simply horrible - I wish I had a camera to show you a what a REAL bad tee box looks like.

Played twilight rate on Friday the 16th - $27.00 full price - it would have been cheap at twice that price! Overall, the fairways are in good shape - the rough is - well - it's rough! It'll eat your whole ball - so watch where you land!! Greens were very bumpy - (too bumpy!) but not all of them - which made it tough to figure out the speed - they were overall pretty fast for as bumpy as they were - I played well from the blue tees - but - unless you like par-fours with long-irons or fairway woods into greens - play the whites - it's still going to be all the golf course you can handle!

Played 5/10 8:30am. Great layout for Grip it n' Rip it. Greens were very unpredictable. Sand seems to come into play all the time. Long par 3s from the Blues (What was my club thinking- I'm a 20+) 174, 184 & 178, killed me everytime. My rating was 6.5ish. Pretty tore up rough in some places, tee boxes pretty bad in some spots.
Hellava challenge, will go back soon with long irons ready for approch shots.

Played here on 5-4-03 and it was very enjoyable except for some greens that have a fungus problem or something. Nice fairways, some nice greens, horible tee boxes. All in all, I still love this lay-out.

Greens are still bumpy from aeration, and speed is a little inconsistent from green to green. Another 7-10 days and they should be in nice shape.

Fairways are nice, rough is tough with lots of clover. Avoided the sand today so no comments on this loop around the course.

Tee boxes still need a little work, especially #8 (very uneven with lots of divots).

Overall impression...a nice track for the money, especially during the week. Today's round was just over 4 hours, teeing off at 8:00. Expect 5 hours or more on weekends.

Played on 3/24 and the course was in excellent condition with the exception of the greens. Tee boxes and fairways were excellent. Greens were just aerated, so they were inconsistent and somewhat bumpy at times. Excellent staff and one long course.
6 par 5's total, so bring your drivers and fairway woods to this course. "Championship Golf and Gracious Hospitality" is their motto, it's true !

Whoever gave this course a 3.45 rating must be out of his mind. This is one of the best courses in So. Cal and served as this year's Nissan Open qualifying site. It deserves a rating of at least 8 and is one of the best values around. It is also one of the longest courses in CA and used to be the longest until Torrey Pines lengthed its South course. Blues tee measure over 7100 yards with a set of Black tees(Jet Black) at almost 7500 yards. Play the midday special for only $27 including cart. Worth every penny if you can drive it long and straight.

In wonderful condition and some really nice holes. Courteous staff. A little pricey at $65.00 on the weekend, though.
