Course was in great condition, greens rolled true, fairways were lush as were the tee boxes. Rough was a little thick which really rewarded fairway shots. Overall great experience, friendly staff fun golf.

We played on Monday, 7/28. Three of us, walking, got right out at about 11:00 and played through in about 4 hours.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the condition of this course. The fairways and rough were in beautiful condition, certainly better than I have come to expect from public courses in the $40-$50 price range (including cart).

The course features a nice layout, with several holes boasting elevated tees, a couple of challenging par 3's over water, and well-placed traps that come into play off many of the tees. Several of the holes also utilize the layout of the course and the local wind conditions to challenge your shot-making abilities (i.e. "Do I fly it high over the trap, into the wind, to that corner pin or run it low to the front of the green for a long putt"). In fact, many of the greens seem to have been designed to take these challenging types of shots into consideration. Additionally, the well-maintained rough provides a definite challenge to play out of, if you happen to miss the fairways.

Speaking of missing the fairways, I should add that the entire course is built in and around the Sierra Lakes housing complex, so many of the holes have houses lining them. If you have a tendency to push or pull badly off the tee, consider bringing some extra balls (my newcomer friend probably went through a good dozen+).

The only real negative to the course was the state of the greens. They were bumpy, dry, and just flat out bare in some areas. It looks as though they are working on fixing it, but quick putts not running true were a thorn in all our sides during the round.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. For me, feeling welcome at a course is always a big reason for returning, and the young staff members were far more welcoming and professional than at many courses I've played.

A final nit-pick. I've recently gone back to walking exclusively during my rounds, and it's a bit of a downer to have to pay a single Green/Cart fee, especially when the course is such a pleasure to walk. If they would separate it into individual Green and Cart fees, saving me $10-$15, I would make this course my new home.

Played saturday 7/19/08 noon in tournament group.Who said greens are slow.greens looks like slow but rolling true & fast.At first hole my 2nd shot left about 10 feet to birdie chance but I did 3 putt made bogey.Overall conditions are very acceptable.Goegraphic matter of 10-15 degrees hotter than L.A or Orange county is always issue for me.

Took advantage of the Donavan Daily special and the staff was very friendly. The course is in great shape except for the greens -- plenty of bare spots and the speed was unexpectedly slow. I used to love putting those greens there but I can't go back there anytime soon until I hear some improvement of their muni-course speed. Wait, I think muni ones are faster than these. Nice fairways and tee boxes. The rough requires you to bring out your best game.

played twilight 6/14. overall course condition is excellent. unfortunately the front nine greens were terrible. backside greens were better but so slow. Objective rating for the greens is F. Had Ipaid the full rate I would have requested a refund. Hopefully the greenskeeper will address the greens immediately. If not I believe business will suffer. I will not return until I see something positive about the greens. Jeff 6/15/08

Played 5/29 at 6:30 am. This course can be plagued by monster wind, but not this time. Absolutely pristine conditions. Sand traps were fluffy and compare to high end tracks. Greens were quick but true and the fairways were rewarding. The course is in the best shape I've seen. Go out early before the winds. Please fix your ball marks.

Played 5-4 and 5-11. Course just keeps getting better each week. Its being well kept and groomed. Greens are a little slow but roll very well. Pace of play was very acceptable , both days were 4 hour rounds.
All in all a very good experience

Played the course Saturday morning, 4/19. Was able to get out right away after warming up. Teed off about 6:45 and played in under 4 hours.

Overall, I liked the course. Interesting set up, the fairways were lush and the rough was difficult. They punched the greens a month ago and they were still not smooth. I played with a couple of regulars on the course who told me that the greens were usually faster. That would make them extremely fast since they were pretty quick last Saturday. Since the greens are tiered, I would have liked GPS or yardage markings for the front and back. All the sprinkler yardages I saw were to the middle.

At $74, not including range balls, it was pricey but I would go back. I would put it in Los Serranos' class with probably better conditions and larger, faster greens.

Not many players out this early. 2some and a single out in front of us. Course was in great shape. Tee boxes were fairly level, fairways were lush and rolling well. Greens were fast, a couple were bumpy but rolled true, some had ball marks from the groups ahead of us. The rough was about 2-3 inches difficult to get out but not punishing, I got under a couple of shots and did not get much distance. Bunkers were soft, couple were heavy due to watering. Finished in just under 4hrs.

Played 4-2-08.

Course is in very good shape. Even the greens rolled pretty nice, which are usually the main downfall here. The course was marshaled excellently which helped in our 3-3/4 hour round. Play early here and you won't have any problems with time, but later in the morning tee times can lead to some very long rounds.

Clubhouse people were great and having Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra playing outside the clubhouse was a nice touch!

Played 4/1 and the course was in great shape. Greens are still a little bumpy after being punched but shaping up nice. Play was a little slow for a tuesday afternoon-be nice if the marshals would get people going but otherwise a good time.

Well all i can say is that the course was in great shape and had lots of fun playing it. Arrived mid morning for my tee time, and to my surprise. I was happy to see Tim there who used to be the Assistant GM at San Dimas then moved to a course in the OC. And now he is here at Sierra Lakes. Well GK members who play here get ready for a great person in the golf shop and someone who truly cares what customers have to say. To Tim welcome back to the valley and best of luck to you there.

Great course, fairly decent pace of play. Customer is better, than before but the marshalls need to be driving around the course. People driving all over where they aren't suposed to be. I wish when a course punches it greens they would notify you when you make your tee times.

first, the pros:

i really liked the layout. it was fun, not very hard if you play smart (something i can't say i do very often). one of the guys in my group hit irons off of every hole and still scored well.

the cart girl was a regular mario andretti. sometimes you're lucky to see the refreshment cart once a round. we saw her no less than 5 times.

the cons:

5.5 hour round and the starter didn't have an accurate list of start times/groups. we were 1/2 hour late to tee off and waited on every hole. after reading other reviews, i see this isn't uncommon. i'd say this isn't the greatest choice for a weekend round. weekdays are probably better (unless you don't mind 5-1/2 hour rounds).

the greens were beat to h*ll. ball marks everywhere, not a lot of ettiquette apparently (not the course's fault really). there was also a lot of what i believe is called "fairy ring" in the greens - a disease of clover shaped dark patches you sometimes see in greens.

bunkers were very inconsistent...some were as soft and fluffy as bunkers are in florida, others were hard-packed and wet from errant sprinklers ( a pet peeve of mine, it's certainly not endemic to this course).

no clubhouse should ever have rap playing loudly in the pro shop, and the staff need to be more professional. they were a bit too casual about stopping their conversation to come to the counter to greet our foursome.

bottom line: i'd avoid it on the weekends, course condition is OK, not great, especially the greens, they need work. staff were a bit immature, but not rude. the cart girl should get some kind of greenskeeper award. layout was worth another look, but during the week.

course was in great shape, minor divot damage ond most of it wasnt repaired, but pair for this course. They sure need a starter the first tee was a cluster and their was no one to keep groups from jumping out on the back nine in frount of groups trying to make the turn. Other than that and some of their prices in the club house were exorbanant (sp?) but course was in great shape...

Played 1/03/08 before the rains came. Have played here several times before and played in rare windless conditions. This is a wide open track, but she protects herself with slate fast greens and wicked tee placements. Traps were inconsistent with some fluffy sand and others hard pan. Only major complaint was par 3 hole #6...no rakes in any trap. We got off at 7:15 so were able to play in under 4 1/5 hrs. This course is well worth a look.

I played in their "Day after Thanksgiving" 7am shotgun ordeal. What a cluster****!! We didn't get done until 1pm, come on now, six hours for a shotgun start?? They definately oversold it. How can you be so greedy and so cheap at the same time? The damm G.M. has cut things back so much, he's even eliminated the water coolers that used to be on the course. I won't even think about playing here if it's hot. Empire Lakes, Oak Quarry and Trilogy have G.M's that care about the paying public, not this one.

Played Sierra on 12/2/07 on a $49 special and a late morning tee time. It was a perfect day for golf; clear skies, no wind, but a bit on the chilly side. Played the first 4 holes at 2 under and it was down hill from there. The holes started backing up and continued that way for the rest of the round. I like to play fast and because of slow play, stupidly let a potentially best round ever slip away. Unfortunately the marshall was no where to be found until the 18th hole which was probably close to quiting time as darkness was starting to set in. Customer service at this course is not what I remember it to be the last time I played here which was over a year ago. As mentioned in some previous reviews there are other options in the area in the same price range, but with better customer service. I guess the positive side to all this is that I didn't have to pay the regular rate for the abuse!

I wish I could have had the opportunity to review Sierra Lakes as far as the quality of the golf course. I didn’t get that far. I was in possession of a free round for four at Sierra Lakes as I had won one in a raffle in a tournament held at this Fontana course. The certificate stipulated that it was not good on holidays or weekends. When I called and made my tee time a few days prior, I specifically asked the person answering if my free round was applicable on Wednesday the day before Thanksgiving. He gave me a definitive yes and took my credit card number and tee time. I invited a few friends to get up early and join me there at 7:21 AM. They live in the Alhambra area. They took time off of work and also had made arrangements for a babysitter so they had the liberty to take advantage of a free round.

Guess what happened? When I got there and presented the certificate, the desk person said it was holiday rates and the certificate didn’t apply. When I mentioned what the person had said on the phone, they said they were sorry but they couldn’t honor it that day. I appealed to the assistant manager nearby and he offered no solution, claiming the GM had chewed him out before, and he would let us on for $65.00. I told him I was not going to have my friends come here expecting a free round and wind up paying $65.00 to play in a dense fog. Heavy wind was also expected that day. He was oblivious. Let me tell you the difference between a course like Sierra Lakes and courses like Oak Quarry and Goose Creek.

First of all, the latter two courses are higher end courses to begin with. In most instances, they are less expensive and they bend over backward for their clients. I called both courses and they were both booked solid. I told them my situation and although they were really overbooked, they both offered to squeeze my foursome in at a lesser rate than Sierra Lakes. I took the Oak Quarry offer and we were put on immediately after getting the usual ride from the parking lot. The pace was excellent and it was a great day. That is why customers come back. I really don’t believe that honoring the certificate at Sierra Lakes would have been much of a stretch considering the responsibility rested with their employee. They should have honored it gladly. It is interesting to note that neither of the more generous courses charged holiday rates on that day. It was pure and simply greed on Sierra Lakes part. I will never, ever pay for another round at Sierra Lakes. Don’t go there for the customer service.

played sierra lakes for the first time today. was impressed as i drove up, nice clubhouse and most of the course was in great condition, nice lush fairways but fairly low cut rough. greens, however were in terrible condition with so many unrepaired ball marks. had a hard time putting on many of the greens due to this. what killed the round though was the pace of play. teed off at 830, didn't get done until 130. had to wait on every shot and it just got irritating after a while. unforunate, because this was a great track with a decent layout that is really not too hard and fun to play. they need to get something done about the slow pace.

As I have mentioned before, I live on the course but do not work here. I held my annual tournament here on 10/27 with a 8am shotgun for 80 players. It couldn't have been any better. SL tournament director Josh was there in the dark getting everything ready, so our event would be smooth and easy. The course is in great shape....good job Hector. Even with the public going ahead of us, it was a 4.5 hour round. Afterwards, banquet manager Guillermo provided great food and drinks to all. It's no wonder that so many groups bring their events here, this entire staff is commited to providing great service.

This seems to be pick on Sierra Lakes week, read below posts. Played 9/26,8 am tee time, got off on time, very crowded, at first tee at least 8 carts waiting to tee off, appeared to me I was at LAX waiting to take off, havent been here since Costco went in, maybe lining up is now a local tradition. Noisy, rude folks as those teeing off seemed to ignore the yakking. They stopped when we got on the tee, we advised them in a laughing way we would stand there all day, we are retired, no place to go. With that said we used to play here once or twice a month, then price went up, service went down, seems to go with sales of houses, and the some of the locals were how should I put it,, OK,, they were nuts. No class. Today we noticed cut off jeans, levies, all sorts of stuff. This used to be a classy place, not anymore from what we saw. Then the groups in front of us joined up and created a 6 some, now I could care less as long as they kept up,but no,,,they were 2 holes behind when the marshall showed up, Yup,, we called it in, and the group behind us also called it in. The greens have matured and are fun even though we fixed maybe 10 ballmarks a green till we tired of it..Played with a regular, good guy,, said they have a lot of non golfing tournys maybe one a week, all they do is tear up the place. I think its the regulars that dont take care of the place. Hummm,, paper towels in the urnial, paper towels all over the floor, it was apparent this isnt the same place we used to enjoy. We dont think we will be back. We also think they dont give a crap if we come back. Food and drink area is very nice. Golf course is fun and in geat shape to bad mgmt seems to not give a da** about customer satisfaction. It also seems that kids run the place and maybe that explains things.

Every time you hit it so was backup every you had to wait. $carts waiting at the t boxes. We where hit into twice in just 2 holes. NO MARSHALL, NO DRINKING WATER, NO CART GIRL( it just sucked) . But they give you a free hot dog. IT was worse time playing a course in probably 6 months. No one fixes their ball marks. The staff doesnt do anything with the rude people that are playing this course. Its a shame because it can be a fun course to play

A lot of areas are overwatered, damaged when a cart went over it. Lost a couple of balls on my approach shot, missed the green and ball got plugged because of areas with too much water.

Played here 8/31/07. Course conditions were almost perfect but the 5.5 hour round will make me think twice about returning. It is never a good sign when 10 carts are lined up on the first tee box. Waited to hit every shot all day long. I don't think I will return until something is done about speeding up the pace of play at this place.

This is the LAST time I well play this course! It seems like every time we play here there is a hassle with some A hole. Played Saturday 7:07 (4.5 hrs) and after being hit up on for the second time I drove back and asked if we were not playing fast enough for them (we were a threesome behind a foursome and not behind) and the A hole only wanted to fight. I told him if he did it again I would hit his ball in to the houses. Never again!

Cheeseburger..I feel your pain. I live on the course, played on Tuesday and teed off at 3pm. It was 5:45 when I finished #9 and decided to quit. The course is in great shape except for all the un-repaired ball marks on the greens. I have to agree about the people who should be playing at the pitch and putts being out here, but what is worse to me....charging what they do and allowing t-shirts and even tank tops. Even El Rancho Verde requires a collared shirt.

Ahhhh. Too nice of a day to stay inside...I thought I'd go out and get in "a quick eighteen" and work on my short game...

I was weighing my options...thought of the Goose (played my last two rounds there)...maybe Hidden Valley...

But I had the "Donovan Daily" e-mail for $39.00 including hot dog and chips...

My stomach won the battle.

The "GOOD": Arrived at 11:00 A.M. Asked the nice man behind the counter what it was like for getting a single out. "No problem...do you mind playing alone?"

Does Dolly Parton still sleep on her back?? Well...that doesn't fit...but - heck NO, I don't mind.

The starter told me that the group in front of me had "four-hole head start". I played #1 very slowly, took my time, it was cart-path only on #1...so - I took my time and just enjoyed the beautiful day. I even took the time and fixed a dozen craters on the first green...did some surgery on the poor cup (the edge was just raggedy!)

Drove off to #2. Played #2 nice and slowly....practiced some chips and putted on the nice green for about ten minutes. Looked behind me - and there was nobody on the tee...so - I went all the way back and played #2 again. Both opening holes were in VERY nice shape (as was the entire course...EXCEPT for the un-repaired ball-marks and the terrible shape of the cups!)

Now, back on the horizon, I could see that there was a twosome behind me - so I went over to play the par-5 #3. I even took my time teeing off, because the group behind me had driven into my fairway, and I let them hit before I did. Played it well...GIR and two putts. Took my time, too. Putted a few for practice until the twosome behind me tee'd off.

Went directly over to the par-3 #4...green is clear....pulled my tee shot left. When I get over to my ball....

THERE IS A THREE-GROUP BACKUP ON THE #5 HOLE!!!

Are you kidding me?????

I finish the par-3 and drove up and asked the nice guys in the twosome if I could join up with them. No problem...but so much for luxury-golf.

The "BAD": As a newly-formed three-some...we then proceeded to WAIT on every single shot (along with a back-up on every tee-box from #5 to #9.

Although the fairways are immaculate and the whole place is wonderfully green and lush...the pace of play was just nonsense. And the greens were like moonscapes. Too many un-repaired ball-marks. The greens were soft and held all shots well....putting seemed to be true, although certainly not what I would call "fast".

Also...they don't have Igloo coolers on the course any more...you have to wait until the bathrooms and drink from the fountains.

There was no cart-girl all day - and the temperature was pushing 90. Not good.

The "UGLY": My two new friends had already played the back nine. The checked out and went to the parking lot. So - I stopped to get my hot-dog (a nice-sized weenie, I must say!) and waited for the twosome behind me to make the turn.

Good move. Behind me were two really nice fellows who let me join up with them. Wonder of wonders...the group in front of me had also played the "back nine first" - and dropped out of sight. TWO groups gone - and two other groups (counting me) now became ONE.

THAT should thin out the ranks and we should FLY through the back. RIGHT?? We played #10 with no problem.

UNTIL THE THREE-GROUP BACK-UP ON NUMBER ELEVEN!!!!

Are you kidding me???? We waited on every single shot on the entire back nine!!!!!

Five hours and twenty minutes. Torturous.

We all can talk about "people who shouldn't play from the "blue tees"...but what about people who have no business being on a regulation golf course.

It'll be a cold day in hell (or Fontana) before I ever make the mistake of playing Sierra Lakes again.

Too bad...because it's a lovely track in GREAT shape.

Course in pretty good condition. Tees and fairways very good. Greens were not as uniform with quite a few pitch marks and bumps. On the practice green the ball didn't seem to break as much as it should which turned out to be a costly strategy out on the course. Course makes good use of the space available and contours, features, hazards etc are well placed to make par 3s and 5s more challenging than they would otherwise be.

I've always liked this course; wide open, not much trouble that you can't get out of, and just a fun layout. But I'd have to disagree with the previous posting... I've seen the greens in a 100% better condition. They were pretty beat up, so many ball marks! They were a bit fuzzy and hard to judge the speed, and bumpy. Played a quick round, which was impressive since I have seen this course get pretty backed up sometimes. Teed off at 2:15 with the $29 special and finished in 4 hrs. 15 mins. Well worth the drive for the after 2pm special, but I do hope they get their greens back into the condition they were in when I first played here about 3 years ago. The one thing that I've read and noticed where they could improve is there staff. Not the most professional, but what do you expect when you hire kids. If you haven't played here, I recommend it, I always enjoy playing it, even on a bad round.

played sun 7/22, walked on as single at 11:45, teed off at 12:15. haven't played here in over 2 years.. and let me say... i was impressed. greens in good shape. slow... guy i was playing with (a men's club member) said they are letting the poa grow in, so they are slow and splotchy, but roll well, and they should be in great shape in 6 months or so. i've always liked the track, so it's nice to see the conditions are improved. to address the previous poster... there are water fountains at #5 and #13 at the bathrooms, and there's even a sign in the pro shop stating so... maybe they read the review and made the sign. cart girl came around about 4 times a side. wind picked up a bit on the back... but not horrible. and it was a nice 90 degrees. btw, alot more houses since 2 years. 4hr45min rd.

Played Sunday afternoon. Course is in pretty good shape and plays well. Greens have come back a lot. Lot of fun to play, but..as usual the service was somewhat to be desired. It was 95+ degrees and not one water cooler anywhere on the course and not refreshment cart to be found. The one thing I have never cared for at this course is the customer service. If they could improve in this area it would be one of the best courses around for the general public.

The course was in great shape. Some fairways were slightly over watered but still playable. The greens ran true, playing pace was quick and the scores were good. I highly recommend this course.

- Walked on at around 2:30pm on Saturday 06/23 no waiting. Worth it for $34 w/cart. The conditions were great, any problem areas were man-made (golfers). This is a wide open course but don't let it fool you. The rough looks short but when you dig in too deep your ball will just pop up and not go anywhere. Stay out of the bunkers or you won't have a good day. It's a great course for a great price that I would play again.

Enjoyed the day, may bring a tourney here in the near future. Shot in the low 80's, which was good 4 me. Liked the layout and enjoyed the day. Only complaint was a few too many lost balls - but it is what it is. Highly recommend!

Played a couple weeks ago - forgoto post. Agree with the other reviewers, a nice place to play when the wind is not howling. (Played early - no wind at all!) Greens were reaaly nice when I played, much better than I recall. In fact the condition of the course in general was very good. Still think this is probably the most generous driving course I've ever played, so the only defense this place has is the greens.

The course was in very good shape. It is a busy course so play was a little slower than I like, several times I had to wait to hit. It is a course with enough variety to make the round interesting.

I played today May 17 and the greens have been abused. There were several groups ahead of us and I don't think they replaced one divot. This group of people think they own it. I reported it to the pro shop at the turn ( for what good it did). Other than the greens being beat up its good to very good

The course is in very good shape.
Even the greens are pretty nice even though Poanna has basically taken over (which makes it pretty tough to have a true role on your putts). There are alot of small ball marks on the greens which make me wonder if the fokes from the surrounding neighborhood are gettin on the course after hours and having a little (free) fun.
Clubhouse was very courteous and we didn't have any problems with time (3 hrs 40 min round).
Overall, very nice place to play.

Overall, Sierra Lakes is still a great place to golf when the wind is not howling.

Today was pretty calm for Fontana....but still, a bit breeier than the surrounding areas. Nothing really to be added in the way of "new and different" feedback from today's round. Course truly is in great shape, the greens have bounced back nicely from the aeration and sanding, there are still spots on the course with too much water, the tee-boxes are certainly not perfect, but level; the fairways are green and lush, people are still not fixing their ball-marks and the need for active course marshalls out there is profound (we never saw one for the entire round... and the group ahead of us got left two whole holes behind - - the twosome behind us could stand it no more and jumped two holes ahead to get out from behind these guys - we waited on virtually every shot! C'mon, folks - for God's sake (and I speak as a man of the cloth!) play from the proper tees for your handicap and experience level - and every freaking putt is NOT to win the U.S. Open, all right???)

(Yes, slow play is my pet peeve. It has kept me off of Wilson and Harding for about five years now!!)

Miracle of miracles, we still managed to finish in 4.5 hours, 10:30 A.M. until 3:00 P.M.

In other words, another fine day at Sierra Lakes.

For the Donovan Daily price of $39.00 incl. cart...you really can't beat it!

This course is playing great. The fairways are aweseome with the criss/cross lawn mowing. Greens could be so much better if people repair them. Sand traps were gritty and slightly packed. Great job with getting this course back in shape. Will return soon.

This course is very good shape, but won't be for long. Issues are slow play, divots in greens not being fixed by golfers, not raking sand traps, no marshall on course todeal with slow play from players hitting from tee boxes over their skill level. No drinking water and no cart girl. All they want is to get you on then course and get their money.

$39 weekday special, out today 7:22 AM, have NOT been here for a long time, the place is in TERRIFIC shape. Looks great from the road and looks better close up. We passed on Sierra Lakes for awhile as the greens and price were always bad. Greens have grown up, soft, thick, fast and smooth as a baby's bottom. Fairways and everything else is in very nice condition. The bad,,, lots of fresh ballmarks, groups in front of us musta been in a hurrry or just dumb-a**. We averaged repairing maybe 10 a hole. The tee boxes were covered with broken tees, and LOTS of divots not filled in with sand. SUGGESTION, as we consider this a very nice track, maybe the Marshal, he who we did not see all day, could fill in divots on the tees and pick up all the %%$##$% tees. That and $5 an hour and all the free golf at a nice place isnt too much to ask. A very nice surprise, this track is back on our list for sure. Good Job. Now if the MGMT could do this to Trilogy we would be very happy.

Ok, this course happens to be my home course so I am kind of partial to it BUT...take note of a few things.
1. If there is any doubt about wind, CALL. Do not play this course in the wind. Fontana isn't breezy, it's PERFECT STORM wind. Just call to make sure.
2. This is a very nice course, but in my humble opinion it is not worth the hefty weekend pricetag. Play during the week or take advantage of the donovan daily specials.
3. Consider playing from the whites the first tiem out. There is a fair amound of trouble off the tees that can be avoided if you tee up from the whites. Play blues or blacks the next time out.
4. Have fun, fix your ball marks and don't hit my house.

3/27 - The weather was cool at 7:30 AM, overcast, with some wind but playable. Course was in great shape. Tee boxes were level and no divots, fairways were lush and rolling with few divots that were not filled, there was some grass clippings from the mowers but did not interfere with the roll of the ball. Greens were medium to fast w/very few ball marks, bunkers were soft sand. On back 9, maintenance was filling in ball marks with sand/seeds/fertilizer ball rolled good and fair. 3 hr 20 min round.

The course was in great shape! The greens were a littlel bummpy due to an areation earlier in the month. There was no wind which was a huge plus. I got a birdie on the 9th and 17th hole. I was really please with the pace of play. The Marshal did a great job! We started around 2pm and finished right around 6pm. Oh did I mention it was a friday should i say more.

Played sierra lakes feb. 7 with the donovan daily discount. 39 bucks plus a sleeve of balls. A great deal. This was my second time there and I had a great time. The course was in outstanding shape. The fairways and rough was green and lush. Absolutely no brown or dead grass like so many other courses in the area. The greens were equally good with fast undulating greens. There was some divot damage, mainly due to the fact that your ball will release to the back of the green on shots that are not flush. So the divot on the front of the green seldom gets fixed by the hacker that's chipping from behind the green!!
Overall a great golfing experience. Two minor complaints.... No cart girl was working that day, and the pace of play was slow. We mentioned to the starter at the turn if they could kindly send a marshall around to check things out. We never saw one!!!
Get there early on a day that's not overly windy, and you will have a great time.

Played here today with an email special and didn't know what to expect based on the previous reviews here. But I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. The whole course is hard, tight and fast. Fairways are tight and your drives roll a long ways. Greens are hard and fast! The usual ball marks are still here, but I was surprised by the overall condition of these greens as they were better than what I expected. Tough day to score with the afternoon wind topping 30+ mph but overall, I give props to Sierra Lakes for the overall condition of the golf course.

It must be me!! Called Tuesday afternoon to confirm there was no problem teeing off first light on Wednesday. Got to the course and asked the "pro" if they send groups off on the back nine and was told ... NO! Well I get to #14 and there is shotgun going back from 18. Call the shop and was told that I played too fast. I told them that was not the issue. If there was a shotgun, why not tell me up front, (I would have adjusted my pace perhaps) So rather than wait forever to finish, just walked in. (Have to get to work on time) The course was in really nice condition, greens quick fairway very decent and I was only 1 over, so felt cheated that I got screwed. Would like to have finished with 2 par 5's remaining. Don't understand why they aren't up front with you when you pay your $$$

My parents live nearby so I play about twice a month at this golf course. I have mixed reviews regarding the place though overall I feel it is one of the better options in the area. I definitely agree that the greens are the biggest problem facing this course. Way too many unfixed divots, esp. on this course which is not too long, the greens face a barrage of high wedges and 9 irons putting a lot of stress on these greens. It definitely puts a lot of stress on ur short game when u know those 3 foot putts might be missed because of bumps throughout the putting line. The fairways however, are some of the nicest fairways in the area. I think this is a great course for the mid range handicapper since the fairways have wide landing areas, and the rough isnt thick at all when u miss the green. the carts used to be a problem since they would always seem like they are half charged, but they seem to have fixed that pretty well. pace of play here always varies, depending on time u tee off because of all the daily donovan coupons 85 percent of the players use. big waves of groups go out at the 12:30, 2pm time slots because of the deals. still, the rounds dont usually take more than 4.5-5 hours long and i dont recall waiting hole to hole very much. rancho verde in rialto is a great option about 5-10 minutes away if its gets a bit crowded at sierra. all in all, a pretty enjoyable round because of the good course design.

Reality is somewhere between Walter and the ones who believe he is an employee. I live on the course, but do not work for them. I always believe the overall condition of this course is always very good, with the exception of the greens. It appears they do NOTHING to help these problems. Too many tournament players don't fix their ballmarks because they are here for just one day, and this course survives on tournaments and the profits from the Men's Club fees(700-800 members). I agree with Hate3putts that if they had their Marshals helping out by fixing ballmarks on their rounds, the greens would be in better condtion. For the most part, they have a great staff who really do try to please the playing public, it's just that they sometimes have their hands tied.

Played Sierra Lakes on saturday 8-26 and the greens were terrible. Condition could easily cost you 4 or 5 strokes. Heavily tracked with ball marks and fungus. Tee areas are about the same. Lot of divot damage without repair. Hard to get a comfortable stance. This is a shame too, as this is generally a very good course and usually enjoyable to play. But for now.............??

Watch out! The previous 3 reviewers are giving great reviews for this course. Do NOT believe them -- they are probably workers for the course. In fact, check out there previous posts...you'll notice a trend for those 3 reviewers. I certainly don't believe Greenskeeper.org is a place for bogus reviews to draw in clients. This course is not up to shape and with the placement of these bogus reviews, I'm totally blackballing this course. I don't enjoy being deceived -- Greenskeeper.org has a better reputation than that. Put the effort to make your course better, not try and slip a fast one on paying customers.

What't the deal with this course all of the sudden? I loved this course, but played this weekend and was so disappointed at the condition of the greens (horrible: dried out, unrepaired ballmarks, crab crass). I know that it's a great deal for weekend twilight for $29 with cart, but letting fivesomes go out and packing this course to max. capacity does not make it for a relaxing and comfortable golf experience. Please have this course go back to quality and not trying to get quantity of players out there. Don't let this course fall by the wasteside and become just another crappy public course. The staff also, what's with hiring loud teen boys full of testosterone talking about who wants who's girlfriend (short Asian kid with spiked hair.) Let's get this back to a qaulity golf club... please. I go to enough annoying public course here in the city, it's nice to get away from that, and Sierra Lakes used to be one of those places.

Played here 6/23/06. These were the WORST greens I have played on all year. Each green had 100+ unrepaired ball marks and many dead spots. Tee boxes and fairways were in decent shape but I just could not get over the poor shape of the greens. The staff should hand out repair tools to all players in then pro shop. Something needs to be done.

I played on 6/8 in the afternoon, with good pace of play. The entire course is excellent condition, except for the greens are horrendous. Since they cater to so many outside tournaments, the greens get destroyed because those players don't care about fixing their marks.
Everytime I play here I see plenty of marshals, but they do NOTHING but drive around. If the management made them get off their butts and out of their carts, they could be fixing 10 ballmarks minimum per green. The superintendent could use the help...cause he's not doing the job! And the GM must not pay any attention to this site, or else he wouldn't have let this get so bad.

Played on 6/8 and was unpleasantly surprise by the conditions of the greens. The practice green definitely has a fungus or something and it has spread to most of holes on the back nine. Tees, fairways, and rough were in good shape, but the greens are a wreck. Starting on the 12th hole maintenance crew has tried to hide green condition with some kind of paint or something. Thank God they weren't being paid to get the greens to look like real green grass. The color is the weirdest looking green I have seen, sort of a real bright Easter basket grass green. They putt very slow though they look fast. I hope this fungus isn't like the one some years back that destroyed so many greens throughout Southern California. Remember the one that was responsible for wiping out Griffith Park and Diamond Bar? This sure looks like the same stuff. That stuff was supposedly cause by an extreme heat wave followed by outcast and humid conditions. Sound familiar??? Wait awhile before playing Sierra Lakes and make sure to ask about the condiion of the greens before booking your tee time.

Have not been here for maybe a year, now I remember why, greens are horrible, pock marked, slow, bumpy, did I say SLOW and they LOOK worse than they are. The practice green is ill, fungus or something,, should shut it down before the stuff gets in the real greens. They had us hitting balls on the range on a downslope?? What the ^%$^ is that?. The bunkers were nasty, not raked, footprints, mounds, They are good bunkers, but no one is raking, customers or staff. Fairways are great, tee boxes are fine, Staff is very good. Price at $39 for golf and hot dog is way too much for this raggedy condition. This used to be a fun good looking course, still good looking, but needs work!!! Ya can only put so much make-up on an ugly face. We won't be back soon. If I was a member I would be complaining, but I am not.

Played 4/29 Course is in good shape, but the greens are varry inconsistent! The Poanna (i think that is how it is spelled) grass has taken over most of the greens making some parts of the green fast and others a littel slower. Service is great and the carts were in good shape.

Played 4/17/06. Tee off at 1 PM with Easter Special. Course in great condition now, very luch fairway and smooth greens. Greens putt very true. Good pace of play. Finished the round in 4.5 hours. Regular weekend green fee of $72 is little expensive. Will definately go back again if there is any special.

Played on 4/12. I really like this course. Nice elevation changes, but not so severe you don't know which club to hit. The tee boxes and fairways are in pretty good shape, the greens however, leave room for improvement. There are many bare spots and bumpy conditions on almost all of the greens. If you play here you should like the track, but don't expect to hole too many putts.

I was very disappointed with the greens. not smooth! inconsistant. This course is very simple due to the generous driving areas, so the greens are it's only defense. Tough to score with bad greens. Otherwise no complaints with the course.

We Had a Great time Playing today until we were called back to the club house where we were confronted by two Sierra Lakes staff members They showed me a golf cart we drove and told us we damaged it and how we were going to pay for it.we told them we did not damage the golf cart in question and a staff member says Yes you did we know you did and we want to know how you are going to pay for this His associate tells me that his porter said there were beer cans everywhere when we only left 2 empty cans. After we were Blamed in front of about 50 to 60 people which is very humiliating to us they ask us to come into the office and tell us they will look into it and that they were not looking to Blame anyone and by talking to us they now realized that we were not intoxicated. This is by far the worst Treatment at a golf course I have been to and will not Recommend this to anybody the morning staff treated us very well and the afternoon staff treated us like dirt.this is the first and last time Iwill ever come to this course

Wow, I really liked the course. The fairways are in great shape, lay out of the course is really good. The greens are a little fast but roll very true. Played here on a Sunday with the Santa Ana winds blowing. You will really love your drives with a 40 mph tail wind. 300 yard drives were the norm, felt like tiger woods for a day. Look forward to playing this one again!

The fairways were in excellent condition. The greens were bumpy and lots of ball marks. They put out a fivesome in front of us and we had to wait for them a number of times. Pace of play was still OK. It was, as usual, a good experience.

Played 1/21 in club tournament. Course was in okay shape, fairways excellent, greens good lot of ball mark scars made them bumpy, tee boxes a little ragged, and traps inconsistent.

It was so cold and windy I couldn't play after the 2nd hole. Course is in very good condition and is worth the price with the Donovan Daily discounts.

overall the course is in decent shape. haven't played here in a while and noticed that the carts are in horrible shape, the GPS is gone, but the weekend rates are still at $72. financial problems? the greens were really slow, but easily the least amount of unrepaired ball marks in long time. at least they have started to aggressively attack that problem.

$39 plus hot dog/chips on the Donavan Daily discount is a great value. Fairways were lush. Traps and tee boxes were near perfect. Only complaint is with the amount of ball marks on the greens. I fixed 3-4 on each hole. Greens were also a bit slow. At least my cart didnt break down this time. Well worth the drive with the discount.

Rapidly becoming one of the best in the Inland Empire. Could use some help in the Customer Service area especially the Marshalls. I have played numerous rounds there and hardly if ever see one on the course.

Played Chrismas Eve, course is in great shape. The starter C.W. is great and the cart girl was very attentive and always had a smile on her face.

Played on 12/27/05. Good golf course. Greens are in terrible shape. On the #2 green there is a wedge sized divot in the middle. Pace of play was extremely slow. I spoke to the starter at the turn and he was no help. Said there was nothing he could do and that "his marshal" was on the course. My group and the one in front and back did not see a single marshal or golf course representative on the course all day. It took 3 hours and 15 minutes to play 9 holes. Customer service SUCKS here! The starter didnt even attempt to apologize or say he would locate a marshall to investigate. I won't be going back here. Its too bad about the greens condition and overall operation. I have had good experiences in the past here. This place is too far and too expensive for the quality.

played 12/24-
greens are still in horrible shape. Maybe they should give ball repair tools free with the round. The carts are also in bad shape. Seems to be some serious management problems with this course. The layout is one of my favorites, but I'm always disappointed with the quality of the greens.

Played Saturday, 12/10, in about 4-1/2 to 5 hours not too bad, only had to wait at a couple of tee boxes. Winds are horrible here, greens are horrible, carts are horrible. Tee boxes were OK and the fairways were absolutely beautiful. It's kind of disappointing to see the great views and the rolling fairways then get to the green and there's ball marks everywhere. Our cart ran out of juice at the 5th hole, called the pro shop and they sent a new one out immediately. That cart made it to the 9th and ran out of gas. Carts were beat up, torn seats, our third cart had no front bumper(probably fell off pushing a dead cart). Probably won't go back, I can deal with the carts and the greens, but the wind was way too much.

Was Scheduled to go out at 7:50am but, because the range was closed
until 8:00am and the course wide open, our foursome went out at about
7:30am. We played in just under 4 hours. The fairways in great shape
but the greens although fast, are a little beat up due to no one fixing
their ball marks. This course I think always plays fair. There was no
wind and just a great day.

I played out here 11-6-05 and the course was in immaculate condition. The greens were a little on the bumpy side, but other than that, it was as prestine as it gets... Nice track with a fun layout.

Played on Sat Oct 29. Had a 7am tee time (official sunrise was at 7:07am) and there were five groups in front of us. The first group literally teed off in near darkness. When we asked the starter what the first tee time was, he said 6:24am. Needless to say we started off about 25 minutes late. Course was in pretty decent shape. Rough seemed pretty long and there were a ton of grass clippings around, but overall, I can't complain. Greens were pretty consistent. Standard problem of not enough people fixing ball marks. Fairways were in really good shape. Can't comment on the bunkers, because I didn't get in one. But my friend said they looked fluffy, but were pretty solid about 1-2 inches down. So don't be fooled. Biggest complaint was that we only saw the cart girl once. And believe me when I say she was worth waiting to see...

Oh yeah, they took the GPS off the carts so you have to rely on sprinkler heads and the 200, 150, 150 markers on the fairways.

Played 10-26-05. We had not played here in about 8 months. Course was in great shape. Last time we played here as in the past, ball marks on the greens were terrible. Today they were not. First time I have seen the greens in such good shape. They just put a light coat of sand on the greens so they were slow but still rolled pretty true. We all had a good day, all shot under 90 with the lowest score in our foursome being a 80. I think that says it all. Customer service was good. CW the starter is great! The only screw up was that they sold us tokens for the range and when we got down there it was closed for maintenance. They did return our money. They do need to do something with the carts, they are kept clean but are in bad running condition. The carts are old and need to be replaced. We saw 2 abandoned carts during our round. The cart we had ran out of steam on 18 and barely made it back to the cart barn. Other than that a good day!

The $39.00 early bird price is great. The tees were being overseeded today and all but the red tees were on the white tee box (could not play blue or black). This track is in good shape. The customer service was outstanding.

Played last Friday the 23rd, fairways and greens were still recovering from the recent overseeding and aeration. It was cart path only and they had gotten rid of the GPS system to save a few bucks...Not enough yardage markers on the course made it a long day without GPS...The carts were pretty beat up as well, not the same carts they had before...
Not as good a value as it used to be and definitely not worth the drive from Pasadena based on the course conditions right now...I'd rather play Brookside or Whittier Narrows for about the same or less money...

played in a 2 day event 9/10 & 9/11, had checked with the course before booking the event to insure there was no maintence going on was told nothing was scheduled until oct, what a bunch of crap, fairways were scalped, ball was rolling forever guys were hitting pw's for their 2nd shots on 3 of the par 5's, no grass on fairways, greens full of pot marks, tee boxes in bad shape, and the worst part was we had to pay full price. they have gotten their last dollar from me.

Played on 8/31 and course was in very good condition. Greens have ballmarks, but that is fault of our fellow golfers and the golf course. I cannot believe how many people refuse to repair their ballmark but cry the blues when they have to putt through some. Conditioning here can be hit or miss; after 11:OO AM the wind usually becomes a factor. Good track bu
