This course is tougher than it looks and rating on the Scorecard, especially for the senior player. Although it is a shorter course it plays longer due to the St Augustine grass infested throughout. If you drive the ball and do not get plenty of carry do not plan on much roll. They keep the rough pretty thick here so driving in the fairway is a must compared to other courses. This is a tight course that is well-maintained. Greens and tees were good, but the sand traps are badly in need of new sand. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Overall, a pleasant, non-busy experience during the week.

Played this AM in great weather and POP of 2.5 H. Sr rate here is $45 w cart. Have not played here since last year and found the place in better shape than before. My friends say new management came in at about that time. Customer service great at check in. They have new carts and a very nice GPS unit on board. Starter was friendly and got everyone started on time. They just aerated last week but the greens other than being slow were very good. They were also a little soft so firing at the pin was a given all round (lots of birdies all around). Tee boxes were all playable. Fairways had great coverage but due to overnight watering were a little damp for early tee time. No doubt they are in great shape later in the day. Bunkers looked fine and heard no complaints. The course is not overly long but with the trees lining the fairways, water on several holes and deep rough it is not a push over either. Very enjoyalbe course and round of golf so it won't take another year before I go back.

Drove out to Upland for a 7:20am tee time a little over a week ago, Dec. 9th. Played in a foursome of friends. Beautiful sunny day. POP 4.5 hours.

This was our first time at Upland Hills GC, and I'm not sure we will ever be back. Not to say the course was unpleasant, because that wasn't the case. Aside from some uneven tee boxes, Upland has a fun design, solid coverage, and big greens -- but the PRICE. holy cow I can't get behind the price of this course. You're telling me that it costs the same amount to play here as it does Rustic Canyon?? That's insane to me. The value is just not there. I would say at most this course should be is $60, not $100. Not to mention that 15 out of 18 holes are lined on both sides by residential homes with little-to-no wiggle room.

Overall if you live nearby and have the money to splurge, go for it. Upland can be a fun course on a weekend. If you live in LA though, and would rather have value for your dollar, I'd recommend almost any other course in the area.

Since it's been several months since Upland Hills has gotten a review, I decided to leave one.
This is my local course, so I like to come here to practice my putting. I've noticed some good changes at Upland Hills. They have employed a starter that is keeping the 1rst tee in order, the cart girl seems to show up more than in the past during play, and the conditions seem to be consistent now. A few months back the rough was terrible, now it's being cut regularly. The greens here are always in pretty good condition. (Fix your ball marks and divots and they'll stay like that.) The fairways are mostly green with good coverage. The tee boxes have never been great here, and that's still the case. They put in a few new ones to lengthen the course, but they let them go downhill a bit. The pace here is always decent and the staff is friendly enough to make your day at Upland enjoyable. Hopefully, the improvements keep coming because it's a fun, narrow track that most folks would find challenging. Here's a tip for you on this course. You don't need to hit driver very often to score well here. Keep it in the fairway and "go low".

Saw that I had not played here since Dec 2020. So was able to get first out today and had a nice round with a local in 3 H. Was not expecting the fog and dampness today so the course was wet the entire round. Found the tee boxes all in good shape. Fairways had mixture of grass (I will call it splotchy) and because they had had a recent mower break, some areas were behind in needing a mow. They are working hard to catch up but no luck for us today. So with wetness and grass the fairways did not give out much roll but was able to get decent lies most of the time. Bunkers were playable but I do feel they need more sand. Greens had been recently aerated but had healed to about 90/95% and because they had mowed them in front of us we got good playing ones. Some rough on the outside of the fairways was damp and tall. Most fairways have trees lining them so good driving is important. Houses line the course but IMO you would need to be really wild to hit some? But anything is possible in this game. I have always liked this course and years ago played it often with a colleague who lived on the course. They took some of the course around # 9 and 10 to build houses a few years ago and 9 and 10 previous good Par 4's became back to back 3's. But they did a nice job and they are fun holes to play. The carts have a really nice GPS on them which is detailed and very helpful. Good customer service. But Sr rate is now $50 which once was $38. d%mn inflation and a few other things are also hitting the golf industry as well.

Been playing Upland for years and it's usually ok. I played this morning with two others and between us we lost at least 10 balls due to the ridiculously long rough. Ten inches or longer in some areas even just just off the fairway. If you play here and you can't stripe it down the middle, you better bring the cheap balls. What should be an easy 4 hours turned into 4 hrs 45 minutes because every group ahead of you spends so much time searching through the mess. Also noticed that the greens have so many unfixed divots. I believe this is due to players not caring about the greens because they are already so aggravated by the time they reach the green. If you can find your ball, the rough is unplayable. Come on Upland Hills, mow the rough or charge less. I won't be back until then.

I got out to Upland Hills during the hot afternoon on Friday. I played as a single until hole 14 when I joined a friendly twosome for the remainder of the round. POP was just under 4 hours probably due to the heat. The course is in decent shape with a few issues that management can easily fix. The fairways were mostly green and were good. The rough, even two feet off the fairway was ridiculously long for some reason. I lost two balls that were just off the fairway on two holes. Also, there were a lot of heavy grass clippings in the rough that also made a good hiding spot for your ball. Just mow it and it would be much more enjoyable and would also improve the POP. The mower guys must hate running over all those lost balls. The greens are pretty good right now aside from a lot of unfixed divots. "Come on you lazy people, you know who you are." Fix your divots !!!! The greens would be great if you did. I managed to avoid the bunkers all day, but they looked very playable to me. The staff was great and I did encounter the cart girl once or twice during the round. All in all, a good day at Upland Hills. CUT THE ROUGH GUYS!

Sr714/Steve and I played Upland sight unseen for our GK match on 10/24. It's a shorter course topping out a touch over 5500 yds from the blue/back tees, but the yardage is offset by being built into a development with mostly narrow, tree-lined fairways bordered by residences, making directional control more of a premium. Overall conditions were pretty decent. I don't recall any tee box issues as to level and covered, so all good there. The fairways overall had pretty complete but tight coverage. Good rollout and good enough lies, but frequently a little more cushion under the ball would have been nice. The rough was in place and varied from hacking and potential lost ball depth in a few spots to more frequently moderate and playable, but usually green with not a lot of bare areas. Similarly, the run-ups around the green were going to be on the tight side while the surrounding areas were fuller, occasionally to where the ball went deeper and needed to be chopped out. The greens still had light visual indications of last month's aeration but no impact on the roll. Stray marks not withstanding, the greens were nice and rolled somewhere around medium to medium quick. I avoided the bunkers and have no intel on them although most looked OK. As mentioned, it is a tighter layout, generally straightforward with a handful of water features tucked in. As a matter of fact, by the time you reach 18, there is a feeling of deja vu when it came to par-4s with a pond on the left, three quarters down the fairway. There is a bit of sameness to the holes that can make them less memorable, but pleasant nonetheless. There are four par-5s and I think the par-3 were fun with some variety to them. While there is some soft contour around the course, it is generally more level and very walkable. There is a putting green that you can do a little chipping on but no range currently, so that is definitely something to allow for. Per the pro shop, plans for a warm-up hitting net is in the works. Bottom line, it is basic but pleasant golf. For the drive I have to make to get there, I wouldn't go out of my way. But if circumstances dictated it, I would enjoy playing the course again. If it is reasonably convenient to you, it's worth a look.
