Yucaipa Valley is back, golf course is coming around into top playing conditions, Tee boxes have all been renovated, greens are fast and true, lots of break. The management staff, lead by Russ Davies PGA, is knowledgable and friendly. The green fees are great and the weather has been excellent. So come on out and play a top notch level course and enjoy the scenery of the San Bernardino Mountains and Yucaipa Valley. Hit it straight, and beware going downhill, 3 putts are easy if you don't pay attention!

Played Yucaipa over the weekend and was very, very un-impressed. We got there about an hour early to get some food and hit some range balls. It wouldn't be a stretch to say that the best thing about our day was the food. We ended up teeing off 45 minutes late and although the starter was very friendly, it seemed as though he was having a hard time getting the shop staff organized. We have had this problem before with having our tee time moved back or even worse getting booked at the same time as someone else. We are 3 & 5 handicap golfers and play at a fast pace, but it seemed as though the people in front of us were playing slow on purpose. We never saw a marshal on the front or back nine to help speed up play. The staff that we did talk to said that they didn't understand either why there were no marshals.
All in all it took us 5 1/2 hours to play a round of golf! The tee boxes were the worst I may have ever seen. Not an even, flat lie on any of them. The fairways were okay in some spots and chewed up in most. The greens used to be the best part of the course, I guess that is out the window as well. I am very sad to see what has happened at Yucaipa over the last year or two and don't think I will be back there for quite awhile. Even with the discounted rates they offer, unfortunately it's still not worth the hassle. I hope that they get things straightened out up there, because that course has the potential to be one of the best in the Inland Emire. I have also been a part of many tournaments up there and a lot of those groups I played with no longer hold there tournaments at Yucaipa.

Unless you like 5 1/2 or 6 hour rounds and no marshals to keep the sanity out there...Go somewhere else!

The day started off badly and only went downhill from there. Tried to check in, but they said that someone had already checked in under our name. Then, we find out we were quoted the wrong fees over the phone. Apparently their junior rate disappeared sometime last week and were charged full fee for my 13yo nephew. After that debacle got resolved, we went to the starter who was checking someone under our name (again). The group ahead was soooooooo slow. The marshall came out at least twice to speed them up, but they still kept a backlog of at least 6 groups behind them. I'm pretty sure I'm not going back.

I enjoy playing this golf course because of the friendly staff and the good serivce. The new GPS system helps with pace of play and yardage.
The conditions have improved a lot in the last 8 months with a new superintendent in place.
Bunkers are edged now and aerification is being done to soften playing conditions and improve turf quality.

I highly recommend it, it is the best value in the area and the only course that has no wind when everyone else is getting blown away.
The course sits in a box canyon and it is amazing how it protects it from the wind.

7:37 AM tee off. Course was in very good condition. Tee boxes were lush an a bit uneven, but OK. Fairways were lush and rolling decent. Rough was on the short side, maybe 3 inches. Greens were soft and receptive and on the fast side. Some of the bunkers had mostly dirt (or dirt/sand mixture). Overall a good golf outing, it was a bit slow, 4 1/2 hr round, but no waiting on tee box. $25 with coupon from LA Times, such a deal!!!!

Played on 7/18 and course was in very nice condition. The greens were smooth though on the slow side. This is a fairly well maintained golf course with good rates, don't expect anything fancy like clubhouse or food and drink choices. Mainly just golf here, course is not overly challenging but once you get to the greens you will discover the secret to scoring well here. Greens are the hardest to read from 5ft. and closer I have ever played. Not inconsistent, just odd breaks and always mainly around the cupl

Played Yucaipa Valley on Sunday 7/13! Course was in great shape! Greens were lush and fairly quick, which was nice. Fairways were in good shape, but unfortunately the golfers who play there do not replace divots or fix ball marks on the greens. We had a foursome and teed off around 9:00. We finished in under 4 1/2 hours which was pretty good considering how busy they were.
We checked in 45 minutes early to check in and hit some range balls, but unfortunately they do not have grass tees available. They had two levels of grass tees that apparently they don't use anymore. Hint to the Managament.....Open up the grass tees! A lot of us have to travel to other courses who offer grass tees and would rather make the short trip to Yucaipa. The mats were fairly new and the range was pretty busy as well. They have a couple fairly large practice greens to putt on and a very poorly set-up chipping area with a fairly large bunker next to a very steep sloped green. Kinda weird, and not a good place to practice bunker shots.
The Restaurant was small but efficient and the food was very tasty!
The Pro in the shop was very inviting and polite and we were in and out in a few minutes. We signed up for Rewards Cards, or what was explained to us as a "Frequent Shopper" card that is free and gets us free goodies.
The only thing we didn't understand about the course is why they do not have a clubhouse. They appear to be operating out of portable buildings. It seems as though they make do, but let's hope they get one built in the near future. I know I would move my golf tournament up there if they had enough room for us, for sure!
We had a great time although we did not play very well. We will be back very soon, especially now with all the coupons and discounts they offer.

Decent course with very challenging greens, solid views, & good layout.

PROS: --$ Value $(but don't play before 11am).
--Convenience.
--Challenging greens.

CONS:--Soft, rarely rolled greens/tees.
-- SLOW pace of play (they never turn anyone down).
-- Houses line every fairway (loud dogs & construction).
-- Low-quality golfers play here.

This course is in GREAT shape right now! Tees are smooth and not chopped up (though #8 was re-sodded), the fairways are in great shape, there's sand in the bunkers, and the greens are in shape and fast. It's a well taken care of course. Very nice. Walked up and teed off around 12:30 today (Monday) and took about 4 hours to play.

I have played this course several times. The course is moderately played, but generally after 12 the pace of of play is quick, especially on weekdays. It can get busy on weekends. The course is a very playable course and overall has consistent quality fairways, rough and greens. I would rate this course better than average and greens can be a challenge and the best feature of the course. Overall, a very enjoyable course and worth the green fees. I will be back to play it several times to come, I am sure.

Played the course on sat at 12:00 noon. The marshall informed us that three tournaments were ahead of us and that it would open up after the fourth hole. It took us 5hrs and 45 min but the people I was playing with were great and we were drinking beers and just having fun. After about the fifth hole, it cleared up some. The course was in great shape and for the 25.00 price with the state of the art gps system, I just thought it was to good to pass up. Plus, I hadn't played there in sometime. If you are in the area you should give it a try.

Well, I decided to try something different and venture out to Yucaipa and give this place a try. I was pleasantly surprised at the condition of the course and pace of play. Click4teeTimes got us on at 7:45 this past Sunday. We played in under 4 hours and never had to wait for any shot (was there something on TV I forgot to watch?)

Anyway, the fairways were in good shape and only a few times was I left with a tight lie in the middle of the fairway. The greens rolled pretty true and quick. They were listed as a 10 on the dry erase board and for the most part they were, but once you make the turn and deal with teh greens that have dried out from the morning moisture...I think I experienced one that was nearing 13 on the meter.

Give this a track your time and effort. If you are a golfer, you are a friend of mine, and this friend would not steer you wrong.

Played April 22. Internet special for $39 including GPS cart and lunch was a great deal. The course is fun and interesting. Everything was in great condition. The greens had pretty much recovered from aeration and were smooth and true, even though I lost the feel for the speed on the back. The houses lining the fairways are far enough back to be out of reach for the most part. If you hit it sideways the side hill lie is pretty penal. Some greens are really big with several tiers so look closely at the GPS "geen view when selecting your approach club. Staff was great and playing time was only 4:30 with lunch.

This is my home course. I play it regularly and have for years. It is a great value, particularly for weekday, twilight and internet specials. State of the art GPS on all the carts is a nifty plus that seems to help my iron play. It is a great layout, and with exception of the poa annua intrusion into the bentgrass greens, usually is pretty good shape for a muni-track. HOWEVER, the customer service stinks and has been getting progressively worse. Earlier this week I called to ask if the range was hitting from mats or grass- and was hold for the pro shop girl to inquire as to the difference from others. The primary problem is slow play and the lack of marshals. the marshall was on the first tee telling jokes yesterday.. but seven holes out stuck behind three hackers with an hole and half open in front of them... no marshall to be seen. When marshals are seen.. they will comment on everything other than slow play. Yesterday we skipped a par three to cut in front of the beer guzzling hackers.. and the course was very lightly played.. only a few groups.. we still had a four hour and forty-minute round for seventeen holes. There was another slow group in front of the hackers.. and of course, when we asked them if we could play through.. no one spoke english. This course, at least on weekends.. starts at least 20 minutes behind every tee-time I make.. and takes well over four and half hours to play. No one who works there seems to care anymore... it's great course.. but please people!

Well they are just finishing up aerating the greens which weren't too bad. It's a local course for me and fun to play with my buddies. We only paid $ 21 bucks (online special) compared to others paying almost $ 40. Well worth the price. The weather was perfect !!! The f/w's are thin so your ball gets unbelievable distance on low trajectory shots..

Hey Golf Fans!

Played this course 3/16/08. Not to many people out, guess people were watching the hoops for the big dance. Overall this course has a pretty good layout. Everything is pretty much in front of you, not too many blind shots, unless your in the opposite fairways. Fairways are hard pan, but they have always played like that. Greens are bumpy something you just have to get used too, but not horrible. Tee boxes were good, i played from the tips though not to many people hitting from there. Bunkers are a mixture of sand and pebbles don't know what the deal is. Overall the course is in decent shape for the price. It's a course that you have to put in in your rotation, maybe not your favorites, but in rotaion to save money, get in a round, and still be challenged.

Played 2/18. The hard, bumpy greens and overly tough pin placements where you had to hit the cup to stop the ball (side hills, top of ridges reminded me of miniature golf) didn't make for a lot of fun. Price was good but there are much better courses for a bit more money.

3/4/08 - My foursome plays this course regularly; it's been a while since we played here, though. The $35 fee for seniors is fantastic for a track of this stature. Take into account that the greens are bumpy because of grass invasion. This has been a wet year, too! They're not bad considering. You must get below the hole, though, or you're in for a putting surprise. And, guys and gals -- repair your ball marks. The fairways are patchy. Don't know why. Seeding? Watering? It would help if the players would attend to divots, for sure. On this day, it would seem that the maintenance crew assigned the wrong person to rake and prepare the traps for play. The starting rake marks created wide holes in many bunkers -- unfair to honest players. Could use more rakes at the bunkers, too, to encourage players to rake after play. Oh, we'll be back, for sure. The clubhouse personnel are friendly and helpful. They do like their jobs. Thanks, YVGC.

First things first . . . this is a municipal golf course. It is not comparable in any way to an equity-member country club. I have played it around 6 times now.

The greens have the same problem as just about every other southern California course, the bent grass is invaded by poa annua. Accordingly, they are not perfect. This problem is so common that many of the top PGA pros skip the California events because of the inconsistency and the bumpiness that results. The speed is not lightning quick but a decent speed. You do not want to be above the hole.

The layout is interesting with a combination of short and long holes, and good size greens with reasonable interest to them. The pace of play is pretty typical for a muni, 4 1/2 hours in the morning and unbearably long in the afternoon. The worst feature are the fairways. I don't know what the turf is, but it is not well established and thin in many places, and the players are not good at filling their divots with the sand mix. We used up numerous cannisters during the round when we waited for the greens to clear.

The pro shop is minimalist, and there is no club house, but the food is remarkably good in the snack shack. Watch out for the bloody marys, they are spicy.

All in all, it is a very satisfactory golf experience if you avoid the afternoons (because of the pace of play).

Greens: Fast but definitely not true. Very tough to make anything that breaks. (Don't be fooled by the very nice practice greens.)
Fairways: Very good shape for this time of year.
Rough: Down low because of the season and somewhat spotty.
Bunkers: Good.
Tee boxes: All good except #3 at the blue level. WHEN or ARE THEY EVER going to level that one off?
Overall: Still a very nice layout and very good customer service. Once the greens come back, it will be top-notch again.

Booked a 12:30PM tee time on golfnow.com for 01/19/07. Drove 40 miles and arrived at 11:55 and observed 8 carts backed up on the first tee. I should have known it was gonna be a bad experience from there forward. Waited until 1:10 PM when I finally went and got me greenfees refunded. What a waste of a beautiful day. It is obvious that they overbook this place. They did not even have enough carts for the groups going out. This place is a joke and I will not be back for long time.

A group of friends and I heard some very good things about this course in my hometown, Yucaipa Valley. I believe our foursome played on Saturday, December 15th, 2007. We drove well over an hour to get there, and it was well worth the trip! On our arrival we noticed the course was quite busy as it should be on a beautiful Saturday morning. We also noticed that there was nothing resembling a club house other than a few portable structures that were linked together. Now, I am originally from Yucaipa, born there......a little time ago, but I know that this course is the only one in this immediate part of the Inland Empire. I am not sure why the Owner(s) of the course have not yet invested in a building plan for creating a state of the art Club House to keep up with surrounding areas. I understand all of what goes into this process, but this course has been there for almost 8 years! I have many colleagues and business partners who frequent these areas of Southern California and I try to bring them out to my "neck of the woods" every chance I get.
Anyways...
Back to the golf course...
The dining area inside was very small and had a limited space for a very busy day of golfers to eat and relax. Although we found the staff in the kitchen to be very efficient, very inviting and actually very funny! We ordered about $60 worth of food and beverages, and this was all before we even checked in for our tee-time!
We then made our way into the Pro Shop where we were expecting to take our place in line and possibly be late for our tee-time (we were running a little late!) To our surprise we were the only group in the shop waiting. The Golf Pro was very efficient as well and actually talked two of my guys into buying new golf shoes (not sure how that happened!) He also explained that it would be a very busy day and that we should ty to get to the tee ASAP and check in with his starter. $55 per person,in an area like this is flat out a BARGAIN! With surrounding areas being upwards of $100 per person, I would be more than happy to pay this every weekend to play golf with the guys. He then directed us the the cart area, gave us some cart keys and showed us where the first tee was.

Oh, by the way, for anyone who plays this course on a regular basis....Scrounge up $40 and invest in the Yucaipa Player's Card, I believe it's the blue one. You get a free round of golf the day you purchase the card and you also get discounts every time you play no matter when it is. On top of that you get five free baskets of range balls! I believe he said the card was good for a year, but I don't remember if he said through Dec. 31st, or fiscally. Either way a good investment of your $40. They also have another card that is free that we signed up for that gives you points every time you play the course. These points add up over time and give you discounts on green fees, cart fees and eventually he said you can get a free round, and all that for FREE!

So we eventually made our way to the cart area, where we were greeted by the cart staff, who were again, very courteous and helped us load our bags up and get us headed into the right direction.

We then made our way to the first tee where we talked to the starter and were reminded of what to expect that day. He gave us some inside knowledge on the course and told us of the food and beverage staff who would be out there to assist us if necessary.

I hit a great drive off the first tee and my round was off to a good start!

The course was in very good shape, although a few patches of grass, here and there that were dying, but it's probably due to the temperature changes and the time of year. We saw the marshal several times on our first nine holes and he stopped every time to see how we were doing and if there was anything he could do for us. We played the front nine in just under two hours! We had to wait on some of our shots but that was expected on a busy Saturday morning close to the Holidays.

We decided to hit the bathrooms on the turn and then quickly get to the 10th tee box to keep our place on the course. The back nine was in even better shape than the front, although not quite as challening for us. The pace seemed to pick up a little on the backside and we finished at an hour and a half, which made for a pleasing 3 1/2 hour round. We saw the cart beverage attendant several times and bought some beverages and snacks from her. She was very helpful and also very nice.

The staff at Yucaipa Valley and the conditions there made our day very enjoyable and we be back very soon to play again! Whoever the Manager is at Yucaipa should be very proud of his/her staff and should feel lucky to have such a fine group of people working for them! I have been to well over 1000 golf courses all over the world and the hospitality that we receive when we come to Yucaipa is second to none! I guess we live in a great area, where we are appreciated and taken care of no matter who we are!

Anybody who reads this, should take some time and try Yucaipa Valley and experience it for yourself!

Thanks a Million!

Played on New Years Day. What was going to be a quiet day for the course turned into chaos as winds at surrounding courses caused players to flock to the calm breezes of Yucaipa. This resulted in extremly slow play on a day that normaly would be less than four hours. Other than that, the day was great. Course in good shape and mild temperatures. This course is a great value and well woth the drive

Played a couple of times the week or so. Truly a bargain for the quality of the golf course, the customer service, and the carts with gps. The course is forgiving overall, but a few holes throughout the track do demand your attention. If you sleep on 'em, expect to put up high numbers. Always enjoy playing here and will definitely be back when I'm in town.

Played here on Sunday the 16th. It was a beautiful day. I'd say the greens are in decent shape, not great. the fairways were in very good shape, definately not muddy, as another person mentioned. so if that problem did exist, it's gone now. and the rough, although not incredibly lush, isn't dead or brown. the tee boxes still have not been leveled though, so at times it's hard to find a flat spot to tee off from. they need to address that issue.

it seems like the cost has gone up, i never remebered paying $55 to play here. still a fun track, but i agree that the condition of the course has suffered some since billy casper took it over.

Once again yucaipa valley is getting better and better by the day! Im am very impressed with how fast the greens are recovering. I was just there last week once again and with the recent rains and the recent topdressing, verticuting the greens are almost back to normal. Way faster than i expected. Trust me on this i would defintley head back to yucaipa valley. Especially with the rates and how fast me and my buddy played, we got done in less than 3 1/2 hours!!!! p.s. remember the greens make the golf course not the rough. GO YUCAIPA VALLEY !!!!

i have to say i was impressed with the recovery of the greens! Unfortunetly they had a fertilizer burn with a strong urea content in it and due to not watering it in there were several holes in the greens in Oct. now after 2 months of recovery they look great! I would have to say by mid april due to the growth curve they should look better than they have ever been! Very worth the greens fee, and I will be back here on a regular basis!

BOYCOTT YUCAIPA!!! Played here on the 13th, worst conditions I have ever seen. The greens were horrible, diseased, bumpy, and slow.Fairways were thin and muddy in spots and most of the rough was brown and dead.Ever since Billy Casper took over the course it has done nothing but gone down hill. They need to close the course for a couple months to take care of it. I will not play this course again until I see some significant improvements. At least not for a year. Ashamed to call this my home course!

Diseased greens are an occupational hazard for golf courses and, if it is true that Yucaipa was only recently hit, they should be able to get them back pretty quickly.
However, there is no excuse for some of the ugliest, bumpiest tee boxes I have seen in a long time. They seemed to be worst on the par 3s too. Cannot understand why they would allow them to get in that state.
Between the tees and the greens the course was in pretty good shape but if I had paid more than the $25 green fee I would have felt pretty short changed.

Once again, a hearty ‘thank you!’ to Greenskeeper.org and the planners of this event. I had a great time and met up with new golfers that made the round most enjoyable. For me, those are the key points in participating in this type of event- the opportunity to play somewhere I probably would not and interact with different golfers in a friendly, competitive, team environment.
I’d play the course again. Sure, the conditions would be better after a nice spring rain rather than end of summer/beginning autumn. This is one of those times the layout of the course, esp the back 9, can override conditions. If you’re an out-of-towner like me: interesting layout/track [ups/downs, doglegs, water]- every hole seemed well thought out and offered something different. Tricky greens, also felt good shots were rewarded. The value for the course is there; cart inconvenience, etc are something I can tolerate and are potential story makers anyhow + the clubhouse was very responsive when ours went kaput.
If you’re tired of your local course/muni, check out Yucaipa- you will be pleased.
Oregonian and Bernie14- thank you for a great time- hope to see you at the next one/Rico

This was my first time playing Yucaipa Valley Golf Club and now I know why the course has won our “Most Worth The Green Fee” award for the Inland Empire 4 years in a row. Great-fair-challenging layout. Forgiving off the tee yet demanding. Well protected, undulating, large greens. Well positioned and visually pleasing water hazards. Beautiful and fun back nine featuring many mountain back drops.

As for today’s playing conditions, most of the greens are suffering from a temporary condition that Yucaipa is aggressively treating. However the greens are still playable and likely to continue to improve as they are treated. The fairways, thin to lush. The rough, lush and 2 to 4 inches. The bunkers, some well maintained and others poorly maintained. The tee boxes, recently overseeded, thin to lush, but some, hole 3 in particular, need to be leveled. As for the service, overall good and I was impressed how they handled a difficult situation regarding golf cart shortages and battery failures. The facility absolutely needs to address their antiquated golf cart issue for obvious reasons. But the staff did well to work with the situation and when our carts ran out of juice, they were very quick to get new ones out to us.

I want to THANK all the Greenskeeper.org members who showed up today for our second outing and Yucaipa Valley GC for hosting it.

Overall, for the price, this golf course is an excellent choice even on a day like today where the playing conditions were not up to Yucaipa Valley GC standards.

Many of the greens here are to put it simply, sick. Some of the greens are ok. The greens that are sick have bare spots all over them and are bumpy. The rough is thin and lush. The fairways and tees are in good shape. I can't believe how much the look of this course has changed since it first opened. (houses, cars, roads, bigger trees)

Staff is great. Lack of carts not great. Played twilight as part of GK second official -- unofficial Golf Gathering. The fun part is that we got our cart only to have it die on us at the 7th hole. Not good for the game. The worst part of the course was confirmed by some earlier players. The greens are bumpy and in terrible shape. Looks like the greens are burned. Not good. Appearently this happened in just the last two weeks. I would recommend perhaps postponing your visit for a month or until the greens return to good shape. On a positive note, you can tell when the greens come back that they will roll very well and have pretty tricky breaks if you don't know what to look for. All in all nice event. Wish I played better but at least I can partially blame the course.

Played 10-17-07 starting at 10am.

Fairways: Fair to very good.

Tee-boxes: Over-seeded but manageable.

Rough: Healthy and tall except around the perimeter of #2 where it has died-off around the fence area.

Greens: Very poor for some reason. Severe pock-marking from disease(?) Hopefully just temporary.

Bunkers: Firm but consistent.

Staff: As always very nice and accommodating.

Speed of play: Never been an issue before, but yesterday's round took over 5 hours to play. Had to wait on every shot.

Overall: I've played here for years and have always liked the place, but I'd wait a few weeks for the greens to (hopefully) recover, because this place is a nice round of golf at a very reasonable rate.

Played Fri 8/24. walked on as single, teed off right away at noon. 3hr, 45 min rd. Greens are soft and medium to fast speed. 2 or 3 of them have small holes, but not horrible. Course in great shape. a pretty good wind was going the whole round, definitely at least a club on some holes, at times 2 clubs. not too hot. good time.

Played Yucaipa for the first time this Sunday. I had a blast, the staff were friendly giving excellent advise about the course. Fairways were in excellent condition, the green were good. This place was not busy at all on this Sunday. We felt like we almost owned the course. Even without the GPS, sleeve of balls, hot dog, chips & Soda all for $35 after 11:00 with the Greenskeeper coupon, this course was well worth the drive. I will definitely come back.

This is still one of my favorite courses in the Inland Empire area. It's a great layout, beautiful course and it is challenging from the tips, but alot of fun from any tee marker. The afternoon wind makes it even more challenging. They do have a bit of a Poa problem, but not enough to affect most rounds. I played this course many times when it first opened and before they built the houses all the way around it. The views then were amazing! The course still looks great even with the housing now. Tricky greens......the course is in the foothills with the Yucaipa Valley south of you....but many putts do not break towards the valley.

With Oak Valley and the PGA courses nearby, they are usually crowded and much pricier than YVGC. Enjoy your day, play at Yucaipa! Contact me if you want a playing partner!

Played on 5/2/07, started around 4 pm, paid 15 bucks with a cart. I only expected to get in 9 holes but to my surprise we got in 18. (last hole was pretty dark though). Met up with a guy named Terry from Georgia. I guess I asked him the same question most do, you live near Augusta? Course was in good shape, greens a bit slower then normal. Still this course is always enjoyable to play.

Played on Thurs, 4/5/07. Course was in great shape. Greens were aerated about a month ago so they are plush but a lil slow. As long as they are Consistent I am ok with it. I adjusted my putting on the pract green and played accordingly. F/W's are still very fast, I really hit some monster drives on that course due to the roll and I am not a big hitter by no means. Weather was perfect and great view of the San Bernardino Mountains/Big Bear. A must play if in the area and well worth the drive from OC or P/Springs.

Loved it. We played in mid-March and I was told that wind is a major factor on this course but not that day. Green, Green, Green. They definately make the effort there to keep the course nice. It was a surprisingly quick drive from the OC too. Nice layout that is not too punishing for the errant shot and if you hit the fairways you can go low. The greens were a little slow. They have a problem with Poa there but the rest of the course made up for it.

Played on 2/25, course was crowded as expected for a sunday afternoon. The fairways are still very hard and fast, sometimes it's better to be in the rough there to get a fluffier lie. (if fluffier is even a word). Greens are in great shape, there was alot of ball divots, I blame the players on that, not the staff. Course was so crowed I asked if we could play 9 holes, knowing we wouldn't get 18 in. The Pro Shop clerk said he would just make us pay the walking rate, and not charge for the cart.. Great staff there at yucaipa. At 1:30 h only charged us 20 bucks.. Great deal for that course ! I am playing there again on friday.

It's been 2 years since my last trip to Yucaipa Valley. Previously I found the course to be in great shape with good greens and generally, a wonderful value.

While the price is still low and the customer service was excellent, I was extremely disappointed in the conditions. The fairways and rough I can understand - it's been a rough winter and courses are not doing too well. I was very surprised, though, with how poor the greens were. They were long, spongy, soft, and difficult to putt. For some reason, the greens on the front were worse than those on the back, but it was still a challenge to roll the ball.

At 28 bucks past 1pm on a weekend, it's still a heck of a deal...just maybe not the steal it once was. Pace of play was generally average, but bogging down bigtime on the par 3 13th.

As it's coming up on aeration season, I hope the greens recover well from the punching - they really need it. Good luck, YVGC!

Havnt been here in a couple of years and was very pleasantly surprised. The course was green when most are yellow to brown around now- I read the last comment on the course and true 2 differnt grasses involved in the greens but they were very true and in good shape- The sand was nice as well as the fairway- good shape
/
Great customer service! At hole # 7 and we were coming up on 3! hrs when I called the starter and within minutes the Marshall was out speaking with the slow ones- still took 5:45 to play but again really nice conditions - great value and had a great time- Ill be back

This course has low green fees for walkers. The greens seemed uneven in growth. It looks like there are at least two types of grass on the greens. The greens are normally fair but today the pin locations were on slopes and some were near the edges of the greens. Looked like a tournament setup. Even so this course is always a pleasure to play and the weather was good.

You couldn't ask for better Customer Service. Their Rewards Card is free, but valuable. The coupons are valuable, too, by the way. Every negative aspect I checked on the Rating List is the fault of inconsiderate persons who have no desire to help a course remain pristine. Divots and ball marks -- Repair!!!! I've never gone out here, when the divot bottles on the golf carts weren't full of sand and seed. And there's a refill station at the turn. Use the bottles!!! It helps everyone, even you dolts who seem to think it's not your responsibility to repair the ballmark or fill the divot. Don't drive on the edges of the Bunkers!!!! Rake the bunker as you leave. The sand in the bunkers is fine, moderately coarse. Avoid Ground Under Repair areas!!! Pick up your broken tees, and remove your reusable tees!! Many of the growing conditions are taking a beating because of weather and inconsiderate people, not because of the greenskeepers and maintenance personnel. The workers strive to keep this a wonderful playing experience.

This course is changing its complexion very quickly. The surrounding
housing and commercial influx has just about "swallowed" this good
course. It almost feels crowded out- as if the course was built after
the housing tracks. The pine and other trees are growing well and when
they become fully developed, this place is going to be much tougher.
For now, the course is very fair and still an enjoyable lengthy walk.
Tee boxes are fine, fairways good, rough medium and greens soft and
very receptive. The new GPS system still has a few glitches but OK, with
incessant reminders to fix ball marks.

A fun course that at the moment has some problems with the greens. They are severely pock-marked and have no consistancy at all. Fairways are in good shape, but the rough is pretty inconsistant. The bunkers are always in firm but good shape.

Senior rate of $35.00 is a good bargain. The course is well maintained and interesting enough to test your game. Fairways are very generous and run fairly fast. The course's first line of defense is its greens. They putt true, though can be bumpy due to extreme heat and excess watering, but they are tricky. They look straightforward but have so many subtle breaks around the hole they will drive you bonkers. From 5 feet in they break so much it is easy to miss the short ones. You won't see the break, these greens need to be played often if you want to score well. Bunkers have very heavy sand and require a good aggressive swing to escape and have a chance to save par. Nice course and value, greens are wicked.

Played last Saturday (6/10) with an early tee time. Conditions were quite good though some of the greens show a LOT of play and had erratic roll at times.

Water Par 3's are tricky and it helps to play them before. Good drives sometimes yield an undesireable 2nd shot on some holes due to some steep fairway slopes. It's all in the yardage book but I didn't pay attention to it at times and paid the price!

Overall a pretty good value for an area that's not lacking in good public-access golf (Beaumont courses). Will play with more regularity .

Great day for golf. Good greens, fast and the breaks can be deceiving. Fairways were thin but lush. Rough not too bad. The sand traps were very grainy and packed. And of course I found my way to them all day. I enjoyed the layout will come back soon.

Played on 2/25 and course was in fairly good shape. Greens were good but fairways are too short, almost like hitting off of bare lies. Ball will run a long ways, but the approach shots are tough considering how tight the lie will be, actually better coming out of the rough. The course is easy tee to green, but the greens are very difficult. They look flat but break all over the place, from 5 feet and in it is a crap shoot. Our group has never three putted so many greens, and we are all single digit players. I had one putt of about 7 feet that had at least 6 feet of break then wanted to roll forever down a slope that did not look that severe. The greens on this course are it only defense against low scores, but what a defense. Before the round is over you will be ready to eat your putter.

Played the course on January 6th. As usual the course was in good shape. The staff was very friendly and the cost is very reasonable. My only concern was the hardness of the fairways. For now I will assume it was due to the time of the year. The word must be getting out on this course because it was busy.

Hats off to the management of this course for making this a very nice round of golf. For the past 6 months, I have been playing different courses each week, and have not found a single one in any better shape than this...outstanding!! From tee, to fairways, to greens, added to the wonderful backdrop, for the money, no place can out-shine this course! Advertised as the inland empire's hidden gem......absolutely! Thanks guys for a great day!

Course is maturing. Homes are almost complete around the course but do not come into play. The trees will become a major part of the course as time goes by. The greens are huge. Must know the grain. It grows away from the mountains and down the valley. The greens are the challege on this course.

This course used to have immaculate condition, especially its greens - the quality has deteriorated over the last several months. I heard it's under new management, who seemingly is more interested in marketing efforts (i.e. coupons on internet) than course maintenance, which is dissapointing...

Played in a tourney on Sunday, 30 Oct. Course was in great shape with fast greens. For the most part, all the greens have recovered from being punched. The course is wide open on the front, but tightens on the back. Would definitely play more often if it were less than an hour drive.

Played on 10/29 and the course was in very decent shape, some of the greens were still bumpy from earlier aeration. This is a fairly easy course to play from tee to green, wide fairways and large openings to all the greens. The greens are not tricky until you get within 3-4 feet. From that distance the greens are the hardest to putt I have ever played. Putts more than 18 inches will break at least a cup unless the putt is hit very firmly, from 2-4 feet the putts want to break well over 6 inches, sometimes more than a foot. Long putts are easy to three putt because of the weird breaks around the cup. With easy greens each of our threesome could easily have broken 80 from black, with the greens, one shot 79 the others 83,84. The course is not that memorable or challenging, but is probably worth the $52.00 green fee for weekends.

Played Yuacaipa on Oct 16. I play this course quite often. The course in general is looking very good. However, the greens are really, really bad right now. They still have a ton of aeration holes, and just a lot of ball marks and scuffs all over. It is impossible to putt on them. There is no way to keep the ball on line. Hopefully they will get better soon, because I really enjoy playing this course. Play the course if you like, but don't expect too much from the greens.

golf course in very good shape, only drawback would be the greens, front nine are full of ball marks and a few were punched, back nine was much better. Greens here have a lot of odd breaks, due to the foothills to the north and require alot of study, ball marks don't help. housing development takes away from the natural beauty this course once had, but that's golf in So. Cal. still a good track not overly long but plenty of hazards to keep it challenging. When cottonwood trees mature in 5-10 years watch out! Great pace of play, definetly worth the trip

I played a tournament round with my traveling golf club on 8-6-05: Although my score was not very good, the course was in good shape. The fairways and green side bunkers were in great shape. The greens were good, but on the slow side... All in all; This course is one of the best values around and I would highly recommend playing it. Quite forgiving off the tee which the higher handicap player would appreciate; yet there is plenty of hazards and sloping greens for the lower handicap player. My personal tips: Hole #1: dont go left!!! IS OB. Hole #2: easy par 5. #4: It's longer to clear the bunkers on the right than it looks. #5: the lake IS DRIVABLE!!! (I rolled into it with a well hit 3 wood). #8, 9 & 10: Stay below the hole on the green. #13: par 3 that plays one club longer. #14: easy par 5, but 2 tiered green. # 16: par 3 that is 1/2 club shorter. #18: tough desicion off the tee; there is a waste bunker all the way down the right, but can easily go through the fairway if you stay left of it. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!

I have played this course about 10 times. THe course is great! They have a $35.00 twilight special you get a hotdog, coke and sleeve of balls. The course is always in great shape. However the green on the first hole had a ton of divot damage. The only other thing was on hole 18 the bunker had no sand. So its sill worth the green fee.

Course is in really great condition right now. Check them out for e-mail specials. There are some really good deals lately. Fun track, good players can score well, yet still be challenged. Very friendly young staff. Always enjoy playing here.

What a day for golf at Yucaipa!! The fairways were excelent as were the greens. Love to play this course for the money(34$ at noon on a Fri.) Play was fast and people actually repair their divots on the green. Wasn't too hot with just a little breeze. This course will be something in a few more years. Still a very young course. A must play!!!

The greens and tee boxes were not in good shape at all. There were many divots andbrown spots on the greens and the tee boxes were very unlevel. At some tee boxes it was hard to find a good spot to place the ball. It was a decnt value though for the price.

Played on 6/25 and the course was in very good condition. Player friendly layout with very receptive greens. The greens roll smooth, but are very tricky the closer to the hole you get. The short 3-4 footers have much more movement then you see, makes the first putt very important if you want to score well here. Great staff and price is very reasonable.

Went out as a single, at 11:00 am. Played by myself no rushing, no waiting at any time. Absolutly loved it,with just enough wind to make you think on some shots. Weather was perfect. Will come play many more times. GREAT!!!

This is absolutely the best discount course in the area. It is a little more expensive on the weekends though. It's not spectacular but the condition is very good and provides a wide range of difficulty from the relatively easy white tees to the challenging back tees. I would highly recommend this course to anyone, but don't go on thursdays (That's when I go).

AWESOME course...if i live around that area, i would play there all the time. i live about 55 miles away and it's a bit of a drive. That is my only complain about the course but i guess it's not the course's fault. My buddies and i had a great time Sunday. We've encounter a bit of light rain but we didn't let it spoil our fun. For $42 including cart...you can't beat it. The course was in great condition...fairway was nice with few area of muddy spots. Most of the greens were hugh and fast so it's very easy to three putt a lot of the holes. Gotta try the course again in the summer...it's a lot better then Moreno Valley Course which is close by...

If you are considering playing YVGC, don't. They have just aerated and the greens are in terrible condition. Very large holes, and a ton of sand. The course is very average. Could be better if given some TLC.

This course was in pretty good shape. However its under new management and you can tell. The staff was not organized and we had to wait 15min for a range basket. Also the kitchen was closed. If your just their to play golf and can deal with these minor issuse than I think its worth the drive. But bye no means does it compare to oak valley in beaumont. Lou Dominguez

Played Sunday, Feb. 13th. Unfortunately, the course was sopping wet from an early morning rain. As expected the rain softened up the greens and made them a little bumpy. Other than the wetness, the course was in very good condition. It's really important to understand where the valley is when reading putts. At $50 bucks, this course is especially a good value.

Course is in great shape. As the person who posted the feedback prior to mine said, the tee boxes had a few bare spots (seemed to still be a bit soggy-wet in places), but for the most part, i found them to be in pretty good condition - definately not terrible.
And, i always find the staff to be friendly, keeping in mind it's just a small town muni and not scpga. and, just a correction, you cannot play oak valley for the same rate, it's $20 more expensive.
but, to each his own. personally, i have not played a nicer course in so. cal. for around $40 than yucaipa.

The course is in good condition, however, the tee boxes are not kept up. The snack bar is expensive. The condition of the bathrooms is terrible. The attitude of the management staff is terrible.
I would not ever go there to play.
For the price of their green fees, I can play Oak Valley and get a better deal. I will go there.

Really enjoy this course and will (have) come back a few more times. Nice scenery but all the construction does play a bit with determining distance. There's also a fair amount of traffic noise. But a well kept, enjoyable, fairly challenging course.

Made the trip out to YVGC and it was a good time. Course was in great shape, the greens were fast and had a lot of break.

We played with a couple of beginners and behind a group that was also pretty slow, but the wait was never too long. Finished in 5.

Definitely worth $50 on the weekends.

The course was in great shape and the price, with the Golfextra discount can't be beat. It is a very forgiving course, but the greens are super tough to read. All breaks happen right around the hole making those 3-foot par savers anything but gimmes. The last four holes are the best four finishing hole located on one golf course. They are fair but tough, birdies are there but so are bogeys or worse if you take them for granted.

Course was is good condition, greens are still a little slow due to aeration about 2 weeks ago. Green fees are a little bit high since course is sort of plain. A word to the wise, do not take any short putts for granted here, 2-5 footers are extremely tricky to hole.

I hadn't played Yucaipa Valley in over a year
and it was quite a surprise to see the amount of perimeter housing that is still under construction. They still have plenty of
room for the course without "crowding"and
it still has a feel of "roominess"(aka) you can
still take it back and have a good swing at
it. Overall, and especially for the money, it
remains one of the gems of that area which
includes Oak Valley and SCPGA!

A fun and fair course if you stay in the fairway . We played early in the morning and the rough had not been mowed and was wet. Very difficult to get out.

The greens are lightning fast and lots of difficult reads.

We thoroughly enjoyed our round and will definitely play again despite the drive from Orange County.

Played 10/26. Thankfully, all of the smoke was blowing away from the course. Also, we didn't get much wind. I agree with the commentary from past posters. Maybe the greens were a little dried out because of no humidity, but they were lightning fast. You were basically dead if you got above the hole. Loved the course layout. Every portion of the course was in excellent shape. Great value. The fairways were wide, but you needed to be on certains sides to have a good shot into the green. Need to putt better, but I'll return for sure.

This place is wide open. On many of the holes you can have clear shot from the other fairway. I don't know if I was playing the same course as acesari. If you play from the back tees length not accuracy becomes important beause the fairways are wide. The course was in good condition. The greens were a little fast, but fair. Many of the bunkers on the course seemed to be placed in good locations with sand that was consistent and soft. Very well worth the time and money.

Is acesari serious about this course being close to houses and the street???? Each hole is extremely wide open with houses at least 50 yards from the fairways and only on about 5 holes at the moment. Course is in great shape. Stay below the hole on the greens cause they are QUICK. There are no flat putts here. Good place to play. Iwill be back.

Go play this course before all the housing construction is done. Very playable course for all levels. Tough greens with subtle breaks and undulation. Many 2 to 3 tiered greens here, lightning fast if you're not below the hole. Wide open fairways on most holes, you can definitely grip it and rip it as long as you don't slice or hook too much. Good food at the snack bar, good customer service, the beverage cart drove by 5 or 6 times today. Pace of play is great at 4 hours with hardly anyone around on a Friday afternoon. The course is walkable. Very reasonably priced. Reminds me of Sierra Lakes without the GPS. Needs more yardage markers for riders though. GPS would be nice. Overall a very positive experience. Above average layout and good customer service.

The course was in decent shape, However this is no shade as the trees are not yet mature. Many homes have been built on the course, They are in my opinion far too close to the fairways. WARNING!!! If you do not hit it straight it is possible to hit a home or even a car as it passes on Yucaipa Blvd.

It is nice to play a course that is not so crowded on weekdays! Even though the course is fairly new they don't charge 50 to 100 dollars! Thank you Yucaipa Valley! If you are a spray hitter, look out. The course is not narrow at all, but if you get too wild you can make some big numbers here. (plenty of OB and water) The best thing about this course is the greens. They are in great shape. Finding the right line and pace is not easy. Golf carts really beat up the fairways making them thin. I think the course should keep the carts off the fairway for a while.

Played 5/13 and the course was in great shape. The fairways were well marked with yardage on sprinkler heads and just off cart path. The sand was some of the best I have seen since it was soft not fluffy. The greens are still a little young, but held most approach shots. BTW, don't be worried about hitting the driver since there is very little trouble. I'll be back sooner than later.

Played on Feb 23. Sure it's out in the middle of nowhere, but it's got grass on the fairways, consistent greens and it's a pretty good test of golf. Beware of the new bunker they're building on #5. It's already the #1 handicap hole, and they're making it narrower off the tee.

Worth the 70 mile drive from my home. Overall excellent condition for young course. Not punishing off the tees. Approach shots and greens make the difference. Finding your ball is straight forward - no wasted time even well off the fairway. Only so so hole is #8 par 3. # 13 is a gut check. # 18 a good looking hole. Blue tees plat about 6,500 yards but because of elevation changes, effective yardage is longer. Black tees are about 6,750 yards - playable distance because there are no forced carries. Only problem with black tees is the attention you get from other golfers around the first tee. Sand traps have good, consistent sand. Seem well maintained by staff and other players. Clubhouse is a temporary building. Staff is friendly. Snack bar is adequate. Course makes the point that the wind doesn't howl like at the courses in Banning and Beaumont. Played twice - so far they're correct.
