First time playing this course on 10-4. Course conditions is ok to good, greens are slow and a little bumpy. Layout is not so great. This course is more like an executive course since most par 4's are around 300 yards. So many better courses in san diego i rather play

played over the weekend. as you look at this course from the freeway, its true.....quite a few uphill downhill lies. course fairways and tee boxes in great shape. greens were in good shape with some brutal pin placements. nice roll though, medium speed. thought for the price this course has improved since i last played it. would play again. pace a bit slow, but ---- happens. hope it holds up through the summer. i think this summer heat will slam alot of courses this year.

Played on 2-23-08 for the first time, with a 2 for 1 coupon so it was $45 each. Let me just say it is not worth the $80 regular saturday rate for non-hotel guests. The course is a good challenge, it rewards accuracy off the tee over length, if you miss the fairway on many of the par 4's you have no chance of reaching the green due to heavy rough and long lines of trees. The greens are large and getting your approach close can be tough. The fairways were immaculate and you were guaranteed a good lie if you hit it straight, the greens were a little slow and soft because of overnight rain but ran true and the rough was pretty brutal. Holes 7 & 8 are very difficult par 4's which will leave you with a great feeling if you walk away with par. #16 is a short par 3 but don't be fooled by the yardage because if you miss the green par it's a real tough up and down. All in all, a fun course to play and the fairways were magnificent.

Course is in great shape! Best we've seen in a very long time and rates are very reasonable. Marshalls are not helpful, so a little slow play in afternoons.

Doubletree GC is prepping their course for overseeding. Fairways are all brown and thinning. Lots of grass clippings everywhere -- they are in the process of picking them up though. The greens were aerated a few weeks ago and are getting back into good shape. Don't forget the DT Rule of Thumb: Almost every green breaks toward the freeway!

Doubletree just aerated and sanded the greens this week, so they're quite bumpy and unpredictable -- especially in the early mornings when they are still wet. A few of the sand traps need some grooming work. Otherwise, this continues to be a well-maintained, fun and challenging course for the average golfer. Still one of my favorites. That said, D-tree only gets a 50/50 "worth it" rating today because of the aeration and as do so many of the courses here, the staff doesn't tell you this before you make the tee time and drive up to the course.

The green is good but the fairway and rough have many bare spots. Nobody likes to hit a splitting drive and only to see his ball stay on the dirt! Three greens are closed and they stick flags 20 yards in front of the greens.

Played 7/6 @ 10:30. Got a $19 email deal w/ a cart. They have been punching 3 greens every week for the last month. Course is in pretty fair shape. Greens can be frustrating depending on where they put the pin. No real complaints. They do need to work on the bunkers (no sand, just dirt).

Played 7/15 @ 12:30. Got paired up w/ 3 hackers. Tumbling the ball off the tee all day. It was BRUTAL!!! Anywho, the course is in pretty good shape. Greens were rolling nice (med-fast). Tee boxes were decent. Don't get much roll on your drives ("Kakillya" grass). Definately worth the $30 I payed.

golfers beware!! i recieve e-mail specials from this golf course.i finally get the chance to use one, drive 35 minutes to get there well within the alloted time frame only to be told i have to pay the regular green fee.that is a classic bait and switch.i thought golf was about honesty and fair play.i guess doubletree plays by different rules.they should be ashamed of themselves.

Doubletree is a chalanging golf course short but mature trees and narrow fairways make it dificult to score low.

Almost all Greens run to the East or the Freeway.

Played as a sigle on 3/31/07. Course is in pretty good shape. The greens are healthy but WAY SLOW. I spoke w/ to a guy in the Pro Shop after the round & he said they are trying to get rid of the Bermuda in the greens. Thats why they are uncut. So if you like SUPER SLOW GREENS, this is the course for you.

Played Thursday afternoon, Sep. 28. Got a really nice online rate. Got out on time and were able to maintain a quick pace of play, which I totally dig.

Course was a little beat up, but not too bad. Greens could use a little work, as some were very fast and others slow. Hard to really put together a decent round when the greens are so different.

All in all, an enjoyable round on a decent course.

My first time golfing in San Diego. Had a meeting and decided to stay after to play a round. I love the layout. The course was on the dry side. Greens were pretty good, soft medium fast. It reminded me of Diamond Bar right next to the freeway. Sandtraps were packed and over watered. Fun in the sun. I bet you this course plays better when it is more lush.

Played Doubletree Saturday, June 24th. Got out a little late, but not too bad. The course is in pretty good shape, and the staff was helpful and knowledgeable. It was a hot, muggy kinda ugly day, but the carts were out and around every other hole. NICE!

The fairways are in really nice condition right now. Grassy and firm. Greens could use a bit more maintenance BY THE GOLFERS, but rolled true. Good course, nice facilities, good round.

Played Doubletree on Sunday 4/30/06. Course is in excellent condition for a track that gets played as much as this one. Got out ON TIME, played 18 holes in under five hours, courteous and helpful staff...what else could one ask for? Great value for the price.

If you haven't played the Doubletree, you should. The course really is beautiful, it's close to most everywhere in San Diego county, and THE CART PATHS HAVE BEEN RESURFACED! Hallelujah!

After reading Ipeefreely's comments, I decided to make another trip out there.

The greens are still slow - but they keep getting better with each week that goes by. Number 9 is still very slow. They rolled pretty true but somewhat inconsistent from one green to another, but better than they were when I played there a few weeks ago.

I got out on Friday at 1:00. Played 18 holes in 3hrs 30min with another single. Fairways were in good shape, fortunately I can't report on the bunkers. Paid $40, which seemed right.

Well... as Ipfreely noticed... there were some pretty contradictory reports about the greens. I played there again Sunday the 12th. We went out right after a large Jr's tournament, so that could accout for the set-up. The greens were EXTREMELY soft and slow. Stand anywhere on the green for more than a few seconds and you'd leave a clear footprint that didn't spring back. This made for some lumpy putting. They were, however, still in good shape. The only exception was the par 3's, where some of the sodding/repairs still haen't completely taken. The main problem with this course, again, is the way it is run. The round was brutally slow, even though there were holes open. The marshall(s) never seemed to do anything. They also went out at 4:20ish, IN FRONT OF US, and started pulling the pins. There were still 5 or 6 groups on the course that would have finished. Also, the kid in the pro-shop ran my Bank Card twice and said it was "declined". So I paid cash. When I checked with the bank monday, I found out that my card had been charged twice for the round. The people at the DT have been totally unresponsive and unwilling to help with this issue. Like I said before, this is a decent course for the money, but it has to be one of the worst run golf courses I've ever encountered in my life. I won't ever go back... unless it's to beat my $320 out of somebody.

how is it that suntower plays on jan 17th and says "greens smooth and firm" and rexballard plays on Feb 6th and says"worst greens he has ever seen" kind of contradictory isn't it?

The layout is challenging and the overall condition has been very good, 90% of the time.

VERY GOOD value for the green fees charged.

Well I decided to play here one more time and take advantage of the $29 twilight rate. Unfortunately so did a lot of other people. Needless to say it was a ver slow round, which was compounded by the fact that the course seemed flooded with people who didn't know how to play golf. Some holes were like combat zones - with balls flying in from 2 sides. The greens are still a pathcwork - very uneven from one hole to the next. Slowest and bumpiest greens in the county. I think it will take several more months of sanding and rolling before they are consistent. Until then - I suggest the course implement a 2 stroke rule to get the pace of play to pick up.

To be fair, the fairways were in great shape as were the bunkers. The longer par fours (all over 400 yds), with the exception of # 7 which is an uphill hole with the fairway sloping from right to left. You really want to hit the fade on that hole.

I can't explain how bad the greens are. I'm concerned that this nice and inexpensive local course is not goint to survive on account of their greens.

Played MLK Day. Got off late since there was a 'cart key' problem. 4 groups waiting on the tee with 2 holes open in front. Then our cart died before we hit the turn. Round was brutally slow (5+ hours), but it was late on a Holiday. Course is in greatly improved shape. Greens are smooth and firm. Fairways are green. T-boxes are MUCH better. Good play for the money, and still easy to get a tee-time. Seems like there's always some kind of screw-up when we play there though. Maybe it's management.

If you played here over the Summer you know how bad the greens were. Well, they are slowly coming back. They have been working hard, but it is like having brand new greens on 80% of the holes. Consequently, they roll pretty slow. The greens on 16, 17 and 18 are still coming in and look a little like a pathchwork quilt. They will get there by Spring. Not bad for $29 on M-F.

Played here early morning. This course is rated too high I think. The greens were not that bad, front 9 is worser than back 9 some greens had brown spots. Especially 9 the semi downhill par 3. The fairways looked great. The practice facility is awkward. Great for short game but no true driving range. The cart person was a GUY....hahahahahahaha

Great deal before 9 a.m. After 9 a.m it's regular green fees. The course I thought was tough when 1st playing here, but now It's pretty wide open except for 17 and 18.

For those who haven't played this course, beware: the 8+ rating this course currently has is too generous (in my opinion). Although this is a decent course, I certainly wouldn't rank it among the top-5 courses in San Diego County.

The course is overseeding so the fairways and tee boxes were hairy. The greens are in fair shape--it looks like they were punched about 2-3 weeks ago--but they were very slow. In a few weeks, the conditions should be very good. The layout here is not exactly memorable, but the course does have some elevation changes with some fairly tough holes mixed in with some short par-4s. The holes near the freeway are very loud--its difficult to even carry on a conversation with those you are playing with.

The GPS system on the carts only worked periodically, which was frustrating because the course appears to lack any other yardage markers.

Pace of play was terrific. Our foursome finished in just under 4 hours and we never saw a group in front of--or behind us. I can't remember the last time that happened on a weekend.

There is no driving range to speak of--just a few nets and a short-game practice area.

Carmel Mtn. Ranch--on the other side of the freeway--is a better course.

Third time I've played this course....and for the third time, the greens had just been aerated and sanded! Sheesh. Otherwise, I love this course....well maintained, interesting layout, and plenty challenging if you want to score well. Anyway, if you want consistent greens, wait about two weeks before you play here. Then they should be tops!

very nice course... i was impressed with how nice the fairways and greens were maintained... the only negative thing was at times i felt a bit crowded... although the fairways are wide, there are multiple fairways next to each other (separated by trees), so you are always aware of players in the next fairway (especially if you aren't the straightest hitter! :) )

Was there in August 03. Frankly, I thought the course was kind of a cow pasture compared to other courses in the area. The fairways had many bare spots and parts where that kikuyu/crap grass mixed in to the fairways. Reminded me of San Clemente Muni. in terms of condition. Reasonably priced though.
