Played Monday morning first off. Course just reopened and is still under construction.

I will start with the have put a lot of money into the course. They have added lakes, bridges, tee boxes and sand traps. The course was in great shape and obvious it hadn’t received much play. Keep in mind it still is under construction and the 13 hole was closed for resoding. But they have a spare hole available so you still play a full 18. The construction doesn’t really affect play, it was only an issue for one hole (5) but they were looking like they would be done with that area in a day or so. I think it will be done in about 6 months!

Tee boxes were immaculate level with almost no divot damage. Also new tee boxes on many holes. Fairways were green and lush with no divot damage. You also got a decent amount of roll. Rough was low but still present and lush. Sand was a mixed bag as I played early and it was still wet. But they have added numerous traps in the course, mainly in the fairways. Greens were awesome. Great condition with no ball marks and fast.

I have played this course a lot over the years and it is a relatively easy resort style course. It’s nice to see them put a significant amount of money to make it better. They have tried really hard to make it look nicer but also more difficult. I would imagine they are adding somewhere around 300-500 yards to the course with new tee boxes. New sand traps in the fairways will also make it harder.

If you get the chance to play I would give it a try. If you don’t mind a little of the construction then go for it. If the construction scares you give it a few months.

Golfed Fathers Day, 0830am and played in 5 hours. I didn't know ahead of time but the course is doing a Major Renovation and completely renovating several lakes into one big one, resulting in a rerouting of the holes. #4 is completely closed and #2 and #3 have been shortened to teeing off from fairway and a temp green built in the fairway, respectfully.

The greens were all in really good shape! More on the slow side except for like 1 or 2 greens. No divots really to speak of and pretty smooth.

Sand Traps were two types, fresh powdery white sand or hard compact sand. To me it seems like those are getting renovated as well and in-progress. Unfortunately I hit the old ones when I did...

Fairways and rough were above average with some typical bare/thin spots here n' there. But overall more on the lush side. I was impressed given its June.

Tees were standard, some had a bunch of divots and some did not.

Singing Hills is doing as best as they can with the Renovation by providing a temporary scorecard with new yardages and slope, even reflected on GHIN! They also have a bunch of signage for each hole you have to make an adjustment for. Still can't wait to play again

Played the oak course today. It is going through major renovations. They have closed a couple of holes. Added a temporary par 3. They are moving some major dirt and looking to add some very nice water features. Must be a pretty major investment, which is good to see.

Course was in good condition. If you don’t mind some holes shortened and a couple of temporary greens. I’d say 14 of the holes are good and not affected. They were in good shape tee to green. Sand was good and greens rolled well with just a bump or two.

No discount in green fees for the construction so be warned. I would say still worth playing if you can’t get a tee time nearby.

Played here 9/18 with GK members Jon P, Nat P, and our friend Bert A. on a picture perfect day in East San Diego County with a 9:51am tee time. It had been years since I had played Sycuan and even longer since playing the Oak Glen 18. It was nice to come back and see the property again. Conditions today were a mixed bag and from what I overheard at the turn, the Willow Glen side is in far worse condition, so happy to have gotten out when and where I did.

Tees: The first tee box was about as chewed up as I have ever seen a 1st tee. The original white tee box appeared to be under repair but where the markers were set up was a total mess. The rest weren't as bad but plenty of them were below average.

Fairways: Good to great shape. They were visually nice and the roll was good. I don't remember any bad lies that were the fault of the course, however that was only because I didn't land in the numerous areas under repair (some roped off).

Rough: Penal under the oaks, not so much in other areas. The rough wasn't as bad as it could be but it was thick enough in some places you could easily lose your ball.

Sand: Was only in one bunker and it had sand; that's about it. The sand wasn't fluffy, leaning more towards hard panned.

Greens: The highlight of the round and a surprising one at that given that the practice green directly in front of the clubhouse was a shaggy mess! The greens on the course were medium fast, smooth, and had some tricky breaks. There were a handful of greens that had some damage but the greens keeper did a gob job with pin placements.

ETC: Carts seem new with nice seats, Shark Bluetooth systems, and good GPS. Staff was friendly and got us out on time. One particular issue I DID have was the marshal out this day. He tailed our group on more than once occasion and asked us to keep up with the group ahead (nicely) but without realizing that we were indeed a shot behind them. This happened again with his timing most inopportune as he rolled up on us the exact moment the group ahead got into their carts; annoying particularly on a 5 hour round and tee sheet packed to the brim. Recommended if you can get out for under $75.

Played Oak Glenn today as part of the Veterans Tournament (Hero Tour). Great course, only thing was that there was major tree trimming happening on the back 9 (12 or 13) that required the tee boxes be located at the "top" or furthest out part of the fairway. No "hey heads up" or anything about the trimming. Also, the fact that they had us travel under the large tree that they were trimming and between the tree and the chipper. A little dangerous for my liking. Other than that, really good course.

After playing Oak Glen this past Monday I felt compelled to do something that I have never done on GK, write a review. I have played a significant amount of golf at Singing Hills over the past 40+ years and have always been pleased with the condition of their courses. On Monday, however, I experienced a golf course that was in abysmal condition from tee to green. There were weeds and bare spots everywhere including the greens. My guess is that Sycuan Casino has experienced large revenue losses during the pandemic and had to significantly cut the golf course budget. I would avoid this course until their significant maintenance issues have been resolved.

Played in an event today and teed off a little before 10. Staff was great at check in and the girl at the turn was very friendly. Played pretty close to 4 hours so not too bad considering it was a little toasty in the sun. Unfortunately this is about as positive I can be about the course.

The greens were S-L-O-W. I think I have played punched and sanded greens that rolled faster than this. They were also over watered like crazy. I left some pretty sizable ball marks in those greens. We were teeing off on 17 and saw a guy watering the green on 11. Why? I have no clue. Did it need water? Absolutely not. I know because I left a crater the size of the moon on it. Putts were wobbly and slow. Did I mention they were slow? The practice green, forget about it. That thing looked like it hadn’t been cut in weeks.

Fairways are not good. I hit a good iron off the tee on 12 to the exact middle of the fairway only to have to hit off dirt. There are some good areas but it’s not consistent at all.

Rough is non existent and you’ll encounter grass, patchy grass, dirt, animal burrows, fallen trees, etc.

Tee boxes are bad too, unlevel, bare, patchy grass. I can’t remember what hole it was (6 maybe?) but there was literally no grass where we teed off from.

Bunkers were fair. Sand was a little firm than I’m accustomed to but it’s more like a cat litter type of sand.

This is probably my first bad experience here and I’m willing to overlook it but it is going to be a while and need to see some better reviews before I’m back.

Played yesterday New Year's Day. Taylor in the proshop was very accommodating. I walked on as a single and he got me out with another twosome very quickly. $45 holiday rate for walking is a good deal for this course. POP was 4.5hrs, teed off around 12:30 and finished in the dark. Starter was great, as well.

Played the blues. Teeboxes were no issues. Fairly level with normal divot damage, but no problem finding a good place to hit. Fairways were pretty good. Decent amount of roll out and I had good lies all day. I was in one greenside bunker and it was pretty hard underneath, but not a huge issue. Greens were a mixed bag. Some held shots and others didn't. They were pretty quick and smooth. No major problems. Rough wasn't too penal, but lots of leaves made finding your ball difficult.

I like all three of the courses at Sycuan. The back nine at Oak Glen is really awesome, lots of picturesque holes with great tree placement and great routing. Always an easy recommend, but their rack rates tend to be a little pricey.
