From the moment you arrive here, the feeling takes hold, this is serious golf and when you finish you will know that you just played one of the best courses in CA or anywhere else for that matter. There are many golfers who have never played here, it's not that well known but it is a MUST if one wants to experience the Central Coastal feel of CA. Is this in the top Ten hidden gem courses in the USA?

Course is in fantastic condition. They have added lots of new sand and the fairways are clean and smooth. The greens are rolling slow but true which means you can attack the stick. As always La P i... Continue »

Played Monday morning, 6/19/06, on a clear sunny day with light morning breezes that increased as the day continued. I’d heard a lot about this course and wasn’t disappointed – holes sprawled across rolling CA foothills with no surrounding development, visually attractive course in great condition. Greens and fairways were in great shape – greens were receptive and rolled well. A ‘throwback’ type course in that there is no yardage book, no GPS, so you must play the course a few times or go around with a veteran to know where to hit the ball, such as how far needed to carry a trap off the tee, etc. Several holes have big oak trees in the middle of the fairway – attractive, but on those doglegs, which side am I supposed to hit to? Just had to guess (not always correctly). Once out on the hole, sprinklers were marked and there are 150 yard posts, and the greens are depicted on the scorecard. However, I went out as a single behind a tournament group, so I was guessing on where to hit it on many holes, and play was VERY slow. No cart girl on this Monday – don’t know if they even have one. With wind picking up as the day went on, the last four holes, playing directly into the prevailing wind, can be very difficult. More room for error off the tee on the front side. Highly recommended – just come prepared for the conditions described.

You will not find better conditioned fairways anywhere in the world. Greens are good but not unbelievable - rough is excellent. Too much sand (too fluffy) in many of the bunkers. Always a fun but brutal course to play - If you haven't done your scoring on the front nine, don't expect things to get better on the back. One of the better values in CA.

This course is the absolute best value in California. Only Spyglass and PGA West are harder, and if the wind is blowing (which it usually does in the afternoon) play for bogeys and pray! Great layou... Continue »

This course is the absolute best value in California. Only Spyglass and PGA West are harder, and if the wind is blowing (which it usually does in the afternoon) play for bogeys and pray! Great layout. Fast greens. Incredibly long from the back tees. Not crowded when I played it either.

Took up golf 2 years ago for retirement. Started here and love it. As bad as I am at the game,it is a great place to play. Staff and course excellent. Always well maintained. I play 5 courses around here and this is my favorite even though it so hard. It makes you think all the time and the pin placements can drive you nuts. Play it once and you'll be back. I'm glad I live here.
