Played saturday 04/13 with a good group of buddies. We were lucky enough to tee off early and beat the majority of the weather. Course itself was as you'd expect from American Golf. Mediocre.

Greens were okay - bumpy and a bit shaggy. Very inconsistent - practice green was fast, actual greens were SLOW. But - with that said, they were very receptive and you could spin the ball as desired. I like to play the one-hop and stop chip and it was definitely doing that quite a bit. Boxes (backs) were hit and miss. #1-3 were great, then came some "meh", then there were a few that looked like they were abandoned years ago (thinking #10 & 12 specifically) and are turning into a goat pasture. Didn't find any sand, but playing partners said it was hard under a very thin layer of soft stuff to make it look soft. Could have been the weather, so wouldn't hold this part against them too much.

Will definitely be back...very walkable and easy to get a bit of exercise in on.

Played 9-13-23 early morning walking for $35 and finishing in around 3 1/2 hours as a threesome. Tee boxes were okay with decent coverage on most of them, and some thin and bare spots on others. Fairways were in pretty good condition for the most part with a few minor thin areas, but mostly good lies with decent roll out. Rough was mostly semi-thick with some thinner spots, and some areas that were a little thicker. Was in a couple of greenside bunkers that had a decent layer of brown sand that was nice to hit from. I did notice that a lot of the fairway bunkers had weeds growing in them around the edges. Most of the greens were in just okay condition, they were inconsistent in firmness ranging form soft to firm, rolling on the slow side and a little bumpy at times. They did have a sign in the pro shop saying the 9Th green was damaged, I guess they mean by damaged that it was in very bad condition with a good portion of the green being sand. the 10th green was only in a little better shape than the 9th and the 11th was very bumpy with some bare spots along the edges. I only play here about once a year now hoping the the condition will improve. Guess I'll try again next year.

Pace of play was great. Walked the 18 in under 4 hours. Fairways were green and there was always grass to hit from. Rough is patchy in places but is getting better. Sand was soft and easy to get out of.

Now the "other"...greens were rough. They're better than a few years ago but not great. 14 has a big trench under the grass where your ball just dies running right through the middle of the green. They aerated 9-11 and out the entirety of silverstrand beach's sand on them. Literally need a lounge chair, sunscreen and a beach ball cause youre not going anywhere putting on those. No mention of this at all. Not at the register, not at the starter, not in the "ambassador" driving around looking at the ground. When I called about it (since their website says they're not punching until the end of sept) they couldn't care less. Recommended they at least tell people and the lady behind the desk was flippant at best. Saw another group we knew on 17 (they were on 2) so we gave them a heads up...said that not a single person told them either...Plenty of time between when we called and when the group checked in. They also deep punched the fairways and fringe. Again, no mention on the website or in person.

As you may have read I have not been very positive about the conditions of this course and maybe those comments reached the right people as River Ridge has done a 180 on course conditions. Greens are back to the way they were and rival many of the local country clubs. Running smooth and fast. Fairway have nice coverage and provide goods lies. Rough is filling in and not very penal. Tee boxes are good and much improved since the last time I played. Bunkers still need a lot of work, but I've been told this will be addressed in the coming weeks. Glad to see this course returning to its previous stellar conditions.

Played in a tournament today on Lakes. Not sure any maintenance has been done since last weeks city championship. Tees had not been mowed, sand traps had standing water, little sand and weeds growing in them. Seems since the management doesn't care about maintaining the course, players don't either. Unfortunately was in several unraked bunkers, even though players walk right by the rakes. Fairways were decent, although they had several uncut grassy areas and/or weeds. Greens were uncut, bumpy and very very slow (maybe running at a 6). American Golf has one more year on there contract, and I don't expect them to do anything to improve the course conditions. Between Buena and River Ridge, not sure which course is in better shape. Save your golf money and play one of the other neighboring courses.

The greed of River Ridge's management was evident today. The lakes course should never have been open for play. Standing water or severely wet fairways and rough. Traps were muddy lakes. We damaged the course just walking (sloshing) through every fairway. Holes 11-13 were closed. May need a week to dry out

Played RR Lakes today Thur 7/28, 8*00am. As always, the weather was beautiful!

Played RR Lakes today Thur 7/28, 8*00am. As always, the weather was beautiful!
The course has greened up, much more watering being done & it looks great.

The Tee boxes are huge, one can always find a decent spot to hit from.
The Fairways are really nice, a bit wet here & there.
The rough was not terribly penal, unless getting way out in the weeds.
The Greens are very good. To be picky, wish they were faster.
Collars mowed really short. Putting from 10-15' off the green very possible.

The drink cart came by a few times. The crew at check in are always good.

Carts are nothing special, no GPS.

Huge grass driving range & nice short game area.

Grill is very good, basic stuff done well & reasonably priced.

Overall I recommend. Beat the heat on a course that's in prime condition.

Play day was Saturday, 03/12/22 about 9:20 am with a little bit of a breeze but not bad at all under s sunny sky. $50 greens fee + $16 to ride. Our pace of play was great even though it was a busy day on the course- four hours and a couple of minutes or so. The staff at the pro shop were helpful and the course marshal was thankful for our timely rounds. The greens looked fast but were just okay. There were a few ball marks but it wasn't why it's a little bumpy at times that day. Esthetically, it looks nicer is all I'm saying in all of 18 greens. The medium firmness of the greens were consistent throughout. The two bunkers I was in were okay- it probably could use more sand but it isn't bad to get out of. The teeing grounds were level and had patchy grass. The fairways were closely mowed and there were some deep unattended divots in mostly the short par fours. The roughs were low and were not penalizing at all. I've only played the old course course a couple of times before and I vaguely remember some of those old holes, but anyone who played the old course can sure tell the difference in design. I'm glad to have finally seen the new design. The review comes out 4.1, but I thought it should have been at least 5.0

Had not played River Ridge for a while, so made certain on my trip up north, made certain I included at least one round here. Very much enjoyed the round, brought back many fond memories.

Had not played River Ridge for a while, so made certain on my trip up north, made certain I included at least one round here. Very much enjoyed the round, brought back many fond memories.

Course is in overall nice shape. Greens rolled well and were very receptive. Good coverage in the fairways. One bunker I found had well raked sand and enough of it. Few bare spots in the rough, but no big deal. I have to admit I miss playing the original course
