Played here today with a 10:30 TeeOff.com "Deal" time for $52. I'd seen them announce on IG that their bunker renovation was complete, which seemed to be the primary knock against this course for the past couple years. Checked in and was sent over to the tee on time, but then the starter accommodated a few guys who had 10:30 and 10:40 times to play together and knocked me back to 10:40. No big deal, and the 10:30 group ended up being surprisingly fast for how novice golfers they seemed to be. Minimal waits all day and total POP was just over 4:00.

Course conditions are wintery but decent. Greens are smooth and sneaky fast. My entire group had a hard time getting putts to stop near the hole. They were about medium firmness and almost always ran out some on most full shots. (One of the guys in my group said he believes these greens are a combination of real and synthetic grass. I agree there were some weird spots that looked sorta like fake grass or some sort of fungus, but I'm not sure they were synthetic. Anyone heard of that? He said Monarch Dunes does the same thing.) Citation (orange here, but blue in general) tee boxes were mixed quality; some good, some needing some TLC. Fairways had good coverage of colorant-treated dormant bermuda. The rough does not have the colorant and is fluffy deep bermuda in spots and thinner bermuda in others. Sometimes balls were hard to spot in the fluffy stuff. I was in one bunker and it was good.

This was my first time playing here. Hard to imagine the PGA Tour played this course at one time. It's very run down/rough around the edges feeling, and there's a weird smell of manmade lake/stream water throughout much of the course. The greens are fairly interesting with quite a bit of back-to-front slope on nearly every green, putting a premium on placement of your approach shot. I'm glad I've now played it but I doubt I'll rush back again anytime soon. Good value for the price I paid, though.

Played on Thursday, 11/11, Veterans Day, with a 7am tee time. I'll start with the positives: (1) $44 is probably the lowest you can pay for a prime tee time right now in Vegas (2) Incredible friendly staff, I wanted a drink and hang out after 3 minutes of talking, fantastic group (3) POP, finished in 3:20 as a three, with a single/couple stalking us the last 3 holes (4) Bunkers are being renovated

Conditions wise, I cannot recommend this course unless you're looking for a cheap, fast round with little care of conditions. Tee boxes extremely long and need of a cut. Fairways were spotty, with areas of grass and large areas of hardpan, thin, dirt areas, like 60/40 grass to dirt. Bunkers are all GUR, so free drop! Bunkers have been a big negative over the years here. The greens were super long and slow, like watching a 1960s US Open slow. Seriously, you could of warmed up on your carpet before going to the course.

I want to like this course so much. Outside of a couple of plain, flat, straight holes, plus the worst 10th hole ever, the course has some great bones. The fairway mounds on 4, the signature 17, and an 18th similar to Goose Creek (except its 40-50 yards longer and a par 5, but the same feel), shows it has potential. The course just needs a cash and love infusion to pull it together.

Nice grassy area to hit from on the range, putting green was representative of the course conditions and there was a good-looking chipping area there also. Practice balls were in very good shape.
Fairways were quite nice- easy to hit from with just a nice little "fluff" to the lie.
Greens had some scruffy patches at times, but very consistent speed from hole to hole and putted medium/slow. Fairly level, very firm surfaces without many undulations made for easy alignment and very few ball marks were seen.

Cons:
$5 for 25 warmup balls is about double the price of anywhere else that charges for them.
Tacked on "convenience fee" to make tee time reservations is unheard of elsewhere.
Site says "under OB Sports management", but no points were added to my card and no discount was offered anywhere, unlike every other OB Sports venue.
Rough is tight, firm and not extensive- miss the fairway and there's a good chance you're going to end up on dirt, gravel, or both.
The few greens perched near water might as well have the lake right up against them as any miss on or close to the edge of the green on the water side will not stop rolling all the way down into the hazard- which is hidden on #10. I landed a shot inside the right edge of the #9 green that trickled off and down into a sand trap- and then kept rolling all the way THROUGH the sand trap for another 30 feet or so until it went into the lake on the far right.
And those "sand traps"...
There aren't any. They're true hazards. Bunkers have hard, baked bottoms with even patches of dried, cracked mud in some. No sand. Weeds and grass are growing in some. Seems like there's been no maintenance or upkeep whatsoever for some time and they've just been left to erode and decay.
SLOW PLAY?! Either they allow 6-somes at Stallion Mountain or they don't, but there's no marshal to find and ask. No other course in Las Vegas even allows 5 people, but we caught up to a group of six on the back-9 (we believe the 2 groups that were ahead of us got tired of waiting on them, too, and passed them up) and our last 7 holes for the two of us was nearly 2 1/2 hours of waiting and waiting...and waiting....
Liked the fairways and the greens were good enough, but... no, can't recommend this track. It's a shame- the potential is there.

Played 6-29-19 around 5pm for $20 as a single and finished in 1 1/2 hours with the course pretty much to my self. Tee boxes were in good shape with nice coverage and mostly level. Fairways were very nice with good lies and decent roll out. Rough was cut down pretty low and starting to get a little thin and brown. Was not in any bunkers but they looked okay. Greens were still healing from being punched so they were slow and bumpy. Overall course is in just okay shape.

After not playing in the Vegas area in 21 years it was good to be back. I played Stallion Mountain due to their 30$ rate at 9:30 and the close proximity to The Club At Sunrise. On other websites this course got not so good reviews. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the conditions were and how enjoyable the course is. The greens are a bit slow. But they are nice as you get a true roll. With the exception of thin fairways due to cart traffic the course overall is in good shape. The back 9 is a little more demanding off the tee than front.

I had the opportunity to play this course on 4/19/19. I took my dad out around 11:30 am on a Friday afternoon. Had no tee time, just showed up and the pro shop said, "go on out to the ball boys and they will set you up." We were teeing off literally after we left the pro shop. The cost was $60/per player ($120 total) which included a cart with GPS, cold towel, and cooler with ice. As soon as you drop the clubs off you are greeted by the cart attendants. They take your bag and strap it to a cart waiting for you as soon as you leave the pro shop. Everyone on the course is very friendly. Got paired up with two members and they were in a match game so I didn't really talk to them. The fairways were immaculate. I've seen greens similar to the fairways at this course. Rough is non-existent, only a secondary cut then cart path. I love these dessert style golf courses. The bunkers were compact but had enough sand to get out. Everything about the course layout was challenging but very playable. The one caveat was the greens. They were in bad shape. Maybe it was because of the different type of grass they use here but they looked like mini weeds growing into each other. They were very receptive but putting on them were very very tricky. The grain of the grass dictated a lot how the ball would roll more than the break and the speed. They looked fast but they were extremely slow. I had a hard time finding pitch marks on the green but our playing partner said don't bother, "they heal themselves". Also, most of the greens looked diseased with dark black patches. It was a shame to hit a nice drive and a second only to struggle hitting puts. I have to state this, driving the ball off the tee is a premium, a couple of the holes run along the driveway of the entrance so if you have performance anxiety maybe this course might be too challenging for you. I did notice the ball travel and roll a lot further on this course. I normally drive it around 250 yards but I was getting tee shots of about 270-280 yards with my Project A and Cleveland Custom XL drive. I have to say this course has so much potential if they fixed the greens. I would definitely play this course again because my brother lives behind the 4th hole so access is not a problem. Also, twilight M-F is only $30 for non-residents which includes cart (they don't allow walking at any time), which is cheaper than my local course (Whittier Narrows). On the weekday there is no one playing on the course after 3 pm. Whenever I am visiting my brother in Henderson I will be playing this track.

Upon arrival, the views are nice as you drive past holes 10 and 13. Unfortunately you need to watch out because they are close enough to the road that it is very possible to get hit by a shanked ball.

The bag drop was well manned. All the golf carts are parked neatly and wet yellow rags are neatly hung in the same spot, both sides, of every cart. Looked cool. Nice bag guys, who double as the starters.

Nice check-in desk staff.

The course is in great shape!! The fairways, sand traps and the greens were all excellent.

This course offers a little of everything. Some narrow holes and some wider ones.

The carts have GPS and coolers on them, but no USB ports.

Because the course is located off of Flamingo, there are some really cool holes where you can see the Ferris Wheel and some of the strip.

Bottom line is this, Stallion Mtn. got a bad rap for a long time and I will definitely come back and play. Totally worth it.

A little bit of changes from playing it 2 weeks ago. Fairways are thinning out and bare dirt in a few areas. Hopefully they don't lose them completely and the rain helps. Greens were running smoother and a little bit faster, now a whole month after being punched.

Drink cart was around 3 times after starting around 8. Played in about 4:15 after letting a 2some through as we grabbed food at the turn. Course runs through a residential neighborhood but houses are well hidden by plenty of trees. Wide open fairways, little elevation changes, and some deep bunkers. Nice variety of par 3s, with 2 over water. Course was 27 holes originally, but they kept 1 nine, and combined the other 2 for 18. You have to detour to the clubhouse if you want to grab food between 9s. Carts have a decent GPS attached.

Played yesterday 07/13/18. It has been monsoonal rains here lately and many of the holes are very sloshy and muddy. Winter rules should be used at many spots in order to not tear the course up.

Played yesterday 07/13/18. It has been monsoonal rains here lately and many of the holes are very sloshy and muddy. Winter rules should be used at many spots in order to not tear the course up.

The greens were nice in decent shape, but were very slow. Golf carts have very nice GPS and they supply towels, which I love. Sometimes it's the little things.

Staff is very nice and accommodating. I had a loose driver head and the guy in the clubhouse did everything he could to try to fix it for me. Kitchen staff was cool and food is always ready fast.

Two weeks ago, it was a very good deal for the money. Yesterday, because of the sloppy conditions, I would have thought about it more. But, I still enjoy paying $39 so that helped in the decision.
