2nd day of our golf trip up to the Central Coast. My wife and I thoroughly Monarch Dunes yesterday, and we had an equally good time playing Cypress Ridge today. Absolutely beautiful course running thru a nice community. Houses line most of the holes. Different layout and challenges from yesterday, quite a few doglegs and blind tee shots. The greens were in great shape and were ridiculously fast. Fairways were green and tight, only a few brown patches here and there. Rough wasn't too thick, could salvage the hole if you landed in it. The sand in the bunkers was actual sand and not gravel or dirt. No real complaint here except that we never saw a beverage/snack cart the whole time. We usually bring snacks and water, so it wasn't a big deal, but if you go there empty, could make your round a little uncomfortable.

Played on 8/4 as part of our annual 3 day trip to central coast. This was our second course to play and it was in great shape . The tee boxes were level with little or no damage the fairways were in very good shape with almost no bares spots. The putting greens speed were consistent from green to green. There were a couple of places were they did have a little too much water on the fairways and some in some of the areas of the rough. Pace of play was not a issue and the weather was cool on the front nine and warm and sunny on the back nice all in all very nice track and look forward to playing it next year. Worth the green fees and the staff was friendly.

Went to Central Coast this weekend for a quick golf trip. We played 3 courses. This was course #2. We played on SAT, 5/5 in the afternoon.

We arrived to jammed pack parking lot. They had a international junior tournament here and a men's tournament, so the 1st tee time available was 3 pm for the public. Customer service was fantastic, however, understaff for the tournament. Give the young lady and guys some help in the club house. The course was in great condition. Fairways and greens were lush and tee boxes in great shape. Greens were medium quick @ a 9.5. My only complaint was unrepaired ball marks on the greens...mainly from the hackers in the men's tournament in front of us. IF you cannot hit a tee ball more than 150 yards....play from whites. Pace of play was 5.5 hours and we did not finish the signature hole...#18. Will come back, but not when the course is this packed!

Almost every time I've played along the Central Coast, I've been paired with local players. And almost every time, they've asked me "Have you played Cypress yet?" It seems to be the most popular course in the region, and now that I've played there I can understand why. I really loved this course.

Having recently played Moorpark CC, I have to say I'm now a big fan of Peter Jacobsen's course design skills. He also crafted this layout that is rich in Central Coast charm. Most every hole is lined with big cypress trees and there are a plenty of eucalyptus trees as well. The front nine is pretty tight and hilly, with a lot more changes in elevation than I expected. The back nine opens up with a little more of a links style design (mounding, fescue-lined tee boxes, wider fairways). Both nines very different. Front nine is gorgeous setting for golf, reminiscent of Monterey/SF courses.

I just walked on here yesterday morning and they got me out right away with a threesome of regulars (all residents of Cypress Ridge community). $90 is a bit steep for us outsiders, but they do seem to offer a lot of good deals that keep the locals coming back. That seems to be true of a lot of these Central Coast courses. We finished in just about 4 hours on a beautiful day on the coast.

The course was in really nice condition. Fairways were a little firm here and there, and there were some bare/patchy spots in the rough, but overall pretty lush. Greens were in great shape, also very firm and fast. Like Hunter Ranch, stay below the hole here, too! I can definitely understand why this is a local favorite. Look forward to playing here again someday.

This was the last of the three day Golf Fest we had in Central California...and the best conditioned course! Cypress Ridge was $90 on A sunday at 9 AM...a bit steep but worth it as it turns out. Greens, Fairways and Rough all in excellent condition. Greens were a bit slow but that could be I was still remembering the glass fast lightining speeds of the Monarch Dunes course a day before... Starter was helpful with some local knowledge tips...all employees were helpful. Pace was slow due to a lot of golfers but still enjoyable. The best course of the three I played this weekend. All prepped for Torrey Pines-South on September 3!

Proshop: small, like really small... the proshop, bar and foodshack were all actually in the same building...err, a better word is room, they were all in the same room.

driving range: pretty good, balls were "floater" golf balls because of a small lake/ big puddle... so dont be surprised if they dont fly as far as the ball u normally play.

practice green: well kept, rolls true and pretty close to the speed of the greens on the course.

the Course.. the lay out is fun, nothing to exciting or challenging... pretty straight forward type of course where what you see ahead of you is exactly what you get. No gimmick holes, which i think is great. The greens are pretty consistent across the course, the fairways are nice, not thin or anything... though they had just been plugged so there were lots of dirt plugs everywhere.

this is definitely a course worth playing at least once... its fair and fun and straight forward... great course as far as scoring opportunities go. Also, 7 is blast, easily reachable with the driver from the tips so Eagle is a real chance, birdie is a must.

no real complaints... but nothing too fancy.

The central course is beautiful, and this course fits right in. The central coast is in an "afternoon discount" war. YOu can get a super deal in the afternoon at just about every course. Give this one a try.

Just came back from our Central Coast Trip. We went Friday, July 30th and played Monarch Dunes, Cypress Ridge (Friday), Hunter Ranch, Morro Bay (SAT) and La Purisima (Sun)

This was our course #2 on Friday. They are running a $25 special after 3 pm. Got there (at) 4:00 pm after Monarch Dunes. Got to the 1st tee and there was a 5 some, so the marshall allowed us to skip a few holes ahead and come back and play the 1st 5 holes after we finish. Clubhouse was not as nice as Monarch. Golf carts..were growing spider webs on them. Greens were firm and fast. Conditions were a touch nicer than Monarch Dunes although the views were not as scenic. The layout of this course is pretty unique, but similar to some of the courses we play in the Inland Empire in Los Angeles. Trees are in play on a lot of holes. We burned through 18 just before 8:30 pm. Will try this again with more time next time around.
