Played in late October 2011. And absolutely loved it! Top class facility all the way (Other than the range being tiny, and off mats). The course is a must play and a classic american golf course. Mackenzie was an absolute genius when it came to golf course design and this one doesn't disappoint. Staff is a little on the snooty side and also tried to charge me full price when i secured a hot time on their website, other than that the marshall was awesome, and the course condition was as good as anyone can imagine. Keep it under the hole, A MUST PLAY.

Now I know what all the fuss is about this course. This course reminds me of another course I love (Scioto Country club where Jack Nicklaus grew up). This is a traditional American design with some of the largest greens. Starting from the opening hole to the finishing 18th, this course has it all. Elevated tee shot, uphill hole, down hill hole, 3 tiered greens, long par 3, short par 3. This is very fun design. Pin placement can make this course very difficult. I never had a 150 foot putt uphill on 3 tiered greens until I came here. LOL. I loved the layout and will definitely play it again. Only thing I can pick on would be that the greens were still recovering from the aerification from few weeks ago.

Magnificent course that should be on every serious golfer's must-play list. Generous fairways but you better be dialed in on your approaches! Greens are fast fast fast from the wrong areas. Spectacular design with many memorable holes. Walk and take a caddie, if you can - mine probably saved me at least 5-10 strokes between pointing out lines and reading putts. They also have some great stories about the course, Mackenzie, and pros who have played the course.

played 3/17/10. course was aerated 3/8, they have a special post-aeration rate via golfnow, $110, i believe until this weekend. But greens were still pretty bumpy - looked like either 3/8" or 1/2" holes, roll was decidedly muni like. seeing as that's much of the "fun" of pasa, it was a letdown. Tees were also punched/sanded, but not a big deal. they are also doing a lot of work - day we played, they were installing new irrigation/drainage? stuff on 9, which meant about 10 guys were chugging away with heavy equipment while we played the hole. overall the golf experience was about a C+ compared to the pasa i've played before. if they continue the ncga $175 rate, it would be an easy choice to pay the extra scratch come summer for better playing conditions...

Played last Sunday and what a glorious, sun-filled day amongst a week surrounded by rain. Outstanding treatment of bag guys, proshop personnel. You can tell the guys are proud to work here. Course was a little soggy, not a lot of roll on the fairways but the greens were fine. Work is being done to some of the bunkers but with all the rain, that's to be expected. The front bank on 18 is tarped, due to too much rain but the rest of the course is outstanding, as usual. The NCGA deal here has been a huge, huge hit and it has been extended to April. Unbeatable deal right now for a Top 100 golf course. Julie Inkster came out in the afternoon after we finished and started off the No. 1 tee to play a round of golf. She's totally cool. Can't wait to get back..

I played this course on Sunday, 9/6. This being a semi-private course with members who own shares in the company, general public was allowed on the course after 10:30 am. It seems that the recession has also hit the Silicon valley, because there was no problem getting on the course after the member tee times, even with the reduction in green fee (NCGA and SCGA members get to play for $175 with cart instead of usual $220+30 cart fee). As for the course, this couse is nothing less than spectacular. There is no single hole alike, every single hole makes you think, the scenery around the course is nothing less than beauty, and course architecture shows the genius of Dr. Alister Mckenzie, yes, the same architect who designed the Augusta National. This is a course that tests your skills with slope above 141 from the tip, but the course has plenty of holes that rewards you for playing smart and taking calculated risk - the hallmark of good doctor. Pasatiempo has been at the top of my favorite course list as it has been on the Golf magazine's top course list year after year, and everyone will agree once they play the course - the weather's not bad either as it was a clear Santa Cruz day with light breeze and 75 degrees - I think it was 95 degrees when I left Los Angeles yesterday.

Played this at the end of May. The course was amazing and the round was very memorable. I keep thinking about going back to play again. One of my favorite courses in the world.

I mostly agree with Callykid /Corona's review (July 2008), except I think Spyglass is perhaps as good as Pasatiempo, and Pacific Dunes is better. (Played Pasatiempo in 2007.)

Other than that, like Callykid, I think Pasatiempo is better than Pebble and Riviera, if you measure the quality of all 18 holes.

As Callykid said about Doak's renovoation, the before/after photos are very striking.

Played this course today on a beautiful, clear sunny day. It's everything we expected. This course is annually ranked among the best in the country. There's nothing I can add that's really new...you won't be disappointed. Conditioning is immaculate, greens are tricky, but every hole is interesting and unique. It's a flat out Alistair Mackenzie masterpiece. The experience was all the more interesting, as our group followed Aaron Oberholser and his girlfriend (who also has a great swing btw).
