The greens were excellent the fairways good and the sand was crusty but playable.
Never had a bad lie but saw some dry spots, anything outside the fairway was hard pan or gopher holes. Fairways were mostly generous except for the few tight holes. Course has lots of elevation change. I definitely felt the walk but not a deal breaker. However the first time playing this course I think a cart would have helped shave some strokes. Some hidden creeks,with no water in them come into play as well as blind shots and some sloping fairways. If you don't hit it straight walking around looking for your ball on the blind holes could be a pain. The par fives are getable and I was out of position on most of them. The greens were smooth with good pace and subtle breaks. Fun course in a nice setting that is worth checking out.

Round 3...Spring Hills! I got here around 3:30 and the first tee was wide open. $45 that late in the afternoon felt a little high. Whatever groups were out on the course were spread out nicely. I played through a few groups on the front and then joined another single for the final few holes once we caught other groups ahead. Otherwise, an awesome 2.5-hour pace! The course was in pretty good overall shape. Feeling like a broken record with the water conservation, but pretty much the same deal here. Good and green, but far from immaculate fairways, greens and tee boxes. Spotty rough that's mostly brown and/or bare. I wasn't in any bunkers, but they looked decent. Spring Hills was a pleasant surprise. I really enjoyed this course. Old design, so it has some quirks. The first hole is one of the wackiest openers ever with a 90+ degree dogleg right and semi-blind approach. Lots of side-hill fairways and narrow landing areas, so always aim to the high side to avoid major trouble. Definitely a target course and not very long, so not everyone will enjoy it like I did. Might be a bit too funky for some folks. The setting is gorgeous in a beautiful rural valley. Course is definitely "out of the way," but I can see why it's one the locals seem to frequent it as a hidden gem for the region.

Played Spring Hills last Saturday for the first time. It is a deceiving course, it looks very plain jane when you drive in the parking lot but that is not case at all. I like the layout and would have played better if I had read the yardage book, like I said it is deceiving. The greens were excellent smooth, true and quick. The people running the course including the grounds keepers are very friendly. If I did not live an hour & ½ away Spring Hills would be a frequent course for me. If you go to check Spring Hills, I recommend 2 things buy and READ the yardage book and add a burger to your round, I had the salmon burger and it was excellent!

Short course but a good layout, requiring smart shot placement to score well. Fun track especially if you're not looking to spend a lot, and not expecting too much as far as overall condition. The greens are normally the best part of the course, and are generally receptive and true. Course is located in a quiet and beautiful part of Watsonville, CA surrounded by fruit orchards and flower farms. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
