Example #386 on why GK is so great: Heading into the week of the GK plays at Mt Woodson, I was able to make plans to meet the Pisarski brothers for lunch and then a round with Alex after and get a message from itslikeimsayin asking if I want to meet up for a round on Saturday. Awesome times!
I learned 2 things this weekend: 1. I need a break from the driver, my confidence in it is starting to wane. 2. The next time I have to chip off kikuyu it will be too soon. Hate that stuff.
Friday afternoon at Black Gold with Apisarski. Driver fail all day and horrible front 9. Back 9 was very good for scrambling. Birdied #11 with a 3 footer after thinking I was going to dunk it for Eagle. Finished the back with a 46 to save the round.
Saturday morning at GC of California with Mark. Again, driver was horrendous. A back 9 47 did not keep me under 100. Only bright spot was on 18. Pushed it right into the rough about pin high with a front hole position. Tried to hit a high flop only to see it flop about 3 feet to the upslope of the grass bunker. Pulled putter and holed an awkward triple bender that hit center cup.
Sunday at Mt Woodson. You would think being told "you don't need driver but for a few holes" would do me good. Nope, because I don't listen. Tried to hit driver way more than I should have and ended up with a 96. I also found out what Poison Oak looks like, but not in a bad way.

Played at my home course yesterday, in the ash and smoke, wore a mask the whole round due to that.
Shot a top 5, maybe top 3 career round.
74, with a record 5 birdies, no doubles, one bad 3 putt. Left a few more birdies out there.
Thinking:
#1 has to be even par 72 at Wildhawk
#2 is 9 over 79 at Pasatiempo
this is #3.

Starting from hole 1: Birdie, Eagle, Birdie, Eagle, Birdie.
I have never heard of any golfer being -7 after 5 holes?
The goal has always been long and straight! But since I can no longer hit them long, hopefully straighter could be achieved more than occasionally?

Played Old Ranch Friday with my boss and had a rough front nine losing golf balls. If there was a hazard I would hit it. Started the round dbl dbl. topping the first shot of the day is a good way to not impress your boss.
The Good for the day was the par three's I hit 3 GIR and made par on all 4 of them.
The bad was the par 5's I lost a ball on each one including two on one of them.
Score was a 87 adjusted 85.

followed up my 74, with a 73 on Sat. Same course
was 2 under through 14. bogey free.
15: approach short a little more than a yard. I usually only putt from the fringe, which is usually less than a yard. I decided to putt, up the hill, about 40 ft. left it woefully short. 3 putt bogey. should've chipped. I let the score get to me.
16 par 3 routine par
17: i label this hole the 'card wrecker'. 350yd par 4 dogleg R with a tee shot over water (150yd carry) and the lake runs all along the right side to the hole. the first time I broke 80 a while back, I was even coming to this hole. Hit 2 in the water. 8. Finished double on 18 for a 78.
So that is always in my head when I tee off here under pressure. I pull my 5 wood into the trees left, manage to stay inbounds. Hit a hero shot just short of the green. 30 yd chip to 10 ft. burned the edge for bogey.
Well, I can still shoot even par... but nope... hit some bad shots on 18 par 5, and got a well deserved bogey....
so finished 3 of 4 holes bogey after bogey free golf.
Still my best score at my course.
Riding this wave as long as I can.

It's my birthday on Wednesday and I'm going to play as much as possible around it to celebrate.
Saturday 8/22 - best round since my comeback at Simi Hills with a bunch of buddies, 81 with nothing worse than bogey, very pleased.
Monday 8/24 - played Simi Hills again with Sr. Men's club, frustrating day giving away too many easy chips - 88.
Tuesday 8 /25 - Knollwood CC with BigIsland818 and a friend, blew up a couple holes, played well overall - 87.
Playing again tomorrow at Simi Hills. Goal for the day, 84...we'll see

So my son continues to like golf and he's about two months into it now.
We went to the lower desert and played Eagle Falls.
I played the 6140 yards and he played the 5729 yards.
Some might say it's not as fun to play the short tee, but it was a lot of fun and less stress for me while I caddy for him.
I shot 81 and he shot 92. So In a matter of short period, he has gone from 132, 103, 103, 95, and 92.
At this point, scores really doesn't matter much. I'm just having the best time in golf with him.

Talk about frustrating ... the Tale of Two Nines hit me this weekend my first ever play on the Chino Creek 18 at El Prado. We got switched over last minute (see later review) from Butterfield Stage to Chino Creek, but I was excited since I'd never played it before. Got off to a great start with a super-scrambling par on the first hole, followed by another one the second that was much more conventional. Kept hitting the ball pretty well to shoot a nice 6-over 42 on the front. Then somehow my body decided it did not know how to hit a golf ball anymore at the turn and started off quad, double, double and knew I was in trouble but thought I could right the ship. I could not. Ended with dreadful 9 on the last hole even though I was dead center of the fairway after my first shot knuckled into the creek and I took my drop. The damage? A painful 57 on the back nine to shoot 99 overall and my brain is once again mush.
