I finally got the ok from my doctor to play golf again and I am heading to Scottsdale in a few weeks.
I have played all the major courses out there and was looking for a high quality course that maybe new or just renovated.
Also, what do you believe is the best place to play in Tucson ? I am thinking of making a day trip out there.

Thanks

I love Mountain Shadows, an 18 hole par 3 course that’s really fun.

In Tucson i always liked Randolph North (cheap), Arizona National (middle), and Starr Pass (more expensive). Have heard excellent things about Sewailo but haven’t been able to play it since it opened.

Tucson:

Definitely the Lodge @ Ventana Canyon, both courses.

Courses rotate between public/private every few weeks, so one should always be accessible to the public. Both very fun Fazio layouts that have been in near immaculate condition when I have played them. Both are among the top 12 courses I have ever played considering layout, condition and price.

The goal has always been long and straight! But since I can no longer hit them long, hopefully straighter could be achieved more than occasionally?

If you enjoy getting kicked straight in the face, Sewailo or GC @ Dove Mountain are good choices for such masochism in the Tucson area.

I was in the PHX area a couple years ago and really enjoyed Las Sendas GC, in the eastern foothills.

Back in November I played one in Fountain Hills called Desert Canyon that is pretty fun. Not really a desert course but I was able to find a decent rate significantly under the top tier courses.

With all the Arizona trips you've done, Kevin, I bet you've played dcon's suggestion of Las Sendas because it was highly ranked for a while, but I really didn't like it much the one time I played it. I remember lots of funky angles and blind shots.

I played StarrPass in Tucson once many, many years ago (when it was still a TPC) and liked it.

I'm sure you've played it but if not Quintero is a top choice.

1. If they're back open to the public, Wickenburg Ranch is absolutely worth the drive northwest of Phoenix.

2. I loved GC of Estrella. Nicklaus Signature design. Pisarski01 didn't fully agree on his recent visit.

I don't know how to highlight your recommendations and give each of you a reply, but I thank you very much.
I have played most all of the courses you suggested with the exception of Mountain Shadows and Desert Canyon and they are very good choices.
In Tucson, I have played Sewailo and I am going to play Dove Mountain.
I am going to stick with my favorites of Grayhawk, Troon North. Taking a trip to Tucson one day and play Dove Mountain. My last day on my way home I usually play Wickenburg Ranch but am going to play Quintero again It's been six years since I played there.

Thanks again
Kevin

P.S.

Maybe someone can teach me how to highlight your comments
