I'm going there first weekend of October.

Please give me some recommendations.
I'm looking for 2 courses plus a short one.

Thank you!

Tough time of year to come out here ... over seed and those that are not are starting to scalp the bermuda the week before over seed. Have to really take a look at the over seed dates. One of the Wekopa courses would still be good and the Legacy Golf Resort would also be a good choice.
AK Chin Southern Dunes might be another.

I ran into this exact problem when I chose to visit the Phoenix/Scottsdale area 6 years ago in October and played We-Ko-Pa (Cholla) and Longbow. You can probably dig up the reviews, but at that time both of these courses (goes double for We-Ko-Pa as they have two 18's) let their turf dry out and conditions were pretty bad understandably. The one course that was excellent though was Dinosaur Mountain Golf Course at Gold Canyon Golf Resort (they also have two 18's but Dinosaur Mountain is the better one to play). The tee boxes from what I remember were hit or miss, but as you can see from this photo I took, just about everything else was still very green and it's actually a fun layout east of Phoenix but within driving distance (less than 30 mins from SkyHarbor).

QUOTED  I'm going there first weekend of October.

That is a tough time to play in Phoenix because of overseeding. Also I'm a little behind in posting overseed alerts as so many golf courses use the GolfNow EZ Links call centers in Phoenix/Scottsdale which makes getting through to golf shops very difficult to confirm info. There are other resources online for overseeding but I've found many of the dates they post are off. Anyway, next couple weeks I'll be grinding away on the alerts and will get many more posted. WAIT to book any tee time as long as possible so I can get more alerts posted for you. You'll want to avoid golf courses that are going to overseed a few days after you plan to play them because many times they dry out the golf prior to closing and conditions are not good.
