QUOTED  ...I lost my Ben Hogan Sure-Out sand wedge recently when I left it hy the practice green at Alhambra. Forgot it, drove back for it, and it was gone. About 50 feet from the golf shop and my name and phone number was on the shaft, so someone liked it as much as I did rather than turn it in or call me. I'm considering picking up another one and have several on watch at Ebay.

Sorry to hear that Kevin; you'd think that seeing the owner's name and phone number on the club would be enough to make someone think twice about keeping it for themself. Hope you're able to find a suitable replacement.

As I alluded to in my original post, the Sure-Out is a relic by today's standards yet I've lost count of how many strokes it's saved me over the years. Not something I would hit from 75-85 yards out but an absolute charm around the green.

QUOTED  [Posted By Nickesquire on 02.28.2020 11:12 AM]

Had a 1 iron in my first Ping set, Karsten I's...Loaned it to a guy on my Jr. College golf team who was having trouble hitting his driver. He hit it well, never got it back.

Still got the only 1-iron I've ever owned...a Ram Tour Grind model from the early/mid 80s; decided to keep it when I sold the full set of irons many years ago. Absolutely love the thin top-line and 'butter knife' profile...definitely not for the faint of heart. It was the best option when a tee shot demanded precision and accuracy over distance...especially into the wind...until hybrids arrived upon the scene.

That 'butter knife' probably has a sweet spot smaller than a pea! ;-)

Used to play every Saturday and Monday with GDR23 back in the day. We loosely had about 6-8 others that rotated in/out to make up a steady 4some most rounds.

Semi regular A lost a wedge. A few weeks later, we are playing with semi regular B, who is hitting a new wedge. Semi regular A says, hey, that's the wedge I lost! Semi regular B not only made no attempt to turn it in, he had reshafted it, regripped it and changed the loft. Totally lost respect for semi regular B and never have played with him since.

The goal has always been long and straight! But since I can no longer hit them long, hopefully straighter could be achieved more than occasionally?

i bought a Ram Zebra putter in 1981 and still putt with it today. If I remember correctly, I think I paid a huge price, somewhere around $85 for it. LOL I truly love the feel and the shape simply works for my eye.

A fellow duffer in our group back in the early 90's got himself a zebra. He would own that putter...stand over a long putt and say "I'm just gonna Ram this home". ;-) I remember having zebra envy.

You've more than got your money's worth out of that putter. Some have poured thousands into many putters in their lifetime, and still aren't satisfied. Cheers,

My Cleveland irons are named after the president at the time - Grover Cleveland.

My woods are all petrified aaaaaannndd...

My 1 iron doesn't refer to the loft but instead it's a build number by the St. Andrews Golf Co.
