Love these kinds of topics. My list isn't very long (I need to know more rich people). Think I go...

1) Bethpage Black, NY - options everywhere and my god, the green complexes - #15 is the hardest hole I've ever played
FAV HOLE: #4
2) Bel Air CC, CA - it's just a perfect
FAV HOLE: #11
3) Chambers Bay, WA - the most fun I've ever had on a golf course. I hit a 170 yard 8 iron that ran along the ground for 120 yards - on purpose - on #16
FAV HOLE: #7 (or #4):
4) The Country Club (Brookline), MA - my high school team played away matches against Brookline High
FAV HOLE: routing changes for Us Open/Amateur composite so I'm not sure
5) The Ranch, MA #7 on Best Courses you can Play in Massachusetts - great layout.
FAV HOLE: #5
6) Gold Mountain, WA - Tougher than Chambers Bay.
FAV HOLE: #16
7) Torrey Pines South, CA - no disrespect, I just never loved the layout but can appreciate it for the beast it is.
FAV HOLE: #13
8) Granite Links - #18 on Best in Mass list.
FAV HOLE: Depends on composite
9) Goose Creek, CA - nothing I dislike about Goose Creek. If it were in a smaller state, it would make "Best of" Lists.
FAV HOLE: #12
10) Ponkapoag GC #1, MA - Course I grew up playing. They just redid it (thank god). It was in shambles for years. If you're from Massachusetts, you like Donald Ross. Anyone from Mass will tell you, "what a pile of sh*t (because of the conditions) but WHAT A LAYOUT!"
FAV HOLE: #3

Order may vary

St Andrews Old Course - it was just magical the first time finished at 1030 pm after walking on the evening we arrived course nearly empty
Muirfield - brilliant day all around 36 holes (18 alt shot match) and great lunch in between jacket required with members telling tales
Carnoustie - topped one barely off the 1st tee in front of a huge crowd then striped second to a round of applause
LACC North - friends dad worked there and snuck us out one day
Cypress Point - another magical day and 15 16 17
Sherwood CC - friends dad is a founding member probably played it close to fifty times all for free and twice a few holes with Wayne
Pebble Beach - expensive yes but played with my best friend as graduation gift
Kingsbarns - I know it was manufactured mostly but still spectacular

Eaton Canyon - stop laughing it was my first course down the hill from our house and will always be in my heart
Altadena - again stop laughing it was first course where I broke par a two under 34

La Purisima , Hunter Ranch, Morro Bay just because they get me out of this d%mn Valley heat

Others played - Crail both courses, Pasatiempo, Makena, Kapalua, Gullane 1 and 2, La Purisima, Laughlin Ranch and almost 200 others - I lost my list awhile back and can not recall the exact number due to some incredibly forgettable tracks

I was hesitant to participant in this topic because I did not want to appear boastful or appear I am simply "name dropping" Like Keith, I have played a lot of different golf courses. (I am well behind Keith however as I am still a bit short of 800, unlike the 874 Keith has played) But David Connally indicated he would be interested seeing my picks, so I thought I'd go for it. Actually I will make two lists. The first is a list of courses I could play every day for the rest of my life. The second being what I thought were the "best" courses I have played. ( A few on the first list could also be included in the best courses list)

Favorites in no particular order

1. Harbour Town Links Hilton Head SC
2. Tournament Club of Iowa Polk City Iowa
3. Pebble Beach Pebble Beach CA
4. Whistling Straits (straits) Haven Wis.
5. Merion Ardmore PA
6. Pine Dunes Frankston Texas
7. McCormick Woods Port Orchard WA
8. George Dunne Oak Forest IL
9 Bear Creek Woodinville WA
10. TPC Stadium Course Ponte Vedre FL

Honorable Mention: Kayak Point Standwood Wa Golden Ocala Ocala FL Lawsonia Links Woodlands Green Lake Wis

Best Courses in no particular order

1. Cypress Point Pebble Beach Ca
2. Oakmont Oakmont Pa
3. Balturol lower Springfield NJ
4. Oakland Hills Bloomfield Mich
5. Medinah #3 Medinah Ill
6. Chicago Golf Club Wheaton Ill
7. Winged Foot west Mamaroneck NY
8. Pinehurst #2 Pinehurst NC
9. Olympic Club San Francisco Ca
10. Riviera Pacific Palisades Ca

Honorable mention: Homestead cascades Hot Springs Vir All four Bandon Courses Firestone south Akron Ohio

I have been most fortunate to have played so many wonderful courses, but there are a few which continue to elude me. Augusta National, Pine Valley, Sand Hills, and St Andrews. I suspect after I complete my upcoming trip in August to the Northeastern part of the county, which will include Bethpage black, and Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs, pus whatever other courses I end up playing, I'm certain my lists may need to be amended. (I hope)

Great topic, hope it brings back lots of great memories for everyone; two groups for me, National, and California...#1 Medinah #3, #2 Seminole, in Florida, #3 Cog Hill #4, Muirfield Village, #5, the former Playboy Club course in Lake Geneva Wisc., the Brute. and the Briarpatch, the number 2 hole on the Brute ran along side the Bunny Hutch, it was the slowest playing hole in the world. I will let everyone fill out the rest of the details for themselves, #6 Brighton Dale, Wisc, #7 Pine Meadow, #8 Firestone, #9 Thunderhawk, and #10 Waveland golf course in Chicago, where I grew up, a 9 hole muni, but, you can never forget where you first started...The California list... #1 Los Angeles North, one time only, but, truly a fabulous experience, #2 Aviara. #3 LaPurisima, #4 Pauma Valley, #5 San Diego CC, #6 Santaluz, #7 Torrey Pines South, #8 PGA west stadium course, #9 Industry Hills, both courses, and #10, The Golf Club of California ,my home course....Many, many, many, years ago, I did get to play 36 holes at that place in Georgia, I do not have the words to describe that day, it is still fresh in my mind 40 years later...stay healthy, drive safely, CGG...

Great topic. I have no idea how many courses I've played in my 38 years of golf...nowhere near weber and sixpez, though! My list is as follows:

1. Pacific Dunes - Bandon, OR
2. Bandon Dunes - Bandon, OR
3. Tiburon Golf Club (Gold) - Naples, FL
4. Dunes Club - Myrtle Beach, SC
5. Rams Hill - Borrego Springs, CA
6. Old Macdonald - Bandon, OR
7. PGA West Stadium - Palm Springs, CA
8. Caledonia - Myrtle Beach, SC
9. Sandpiper - Goleta, CA
10. Iberostar Playa Paraiso - Cancun, MX

Honorable Mentions: Valencia CC (Valencia, CA) SilverRock (Palm Springs, CA) Rock Hollow (Peru, IN) Rustic Canyon (Moorpark, CA)
TPC Treviso Bay (Naples, FL) Pineapple Course at Dorado Beach (Dorado, PR) True Blue (Myrtle Beach, SC)

I really want to go to Ireland/Scotland to play. Everyone I've met that has played Royal County Down says it's best course they've ever played. I want to find out...
