Fun way to cap off a great series of outings this year that began in the beginning of May (NorCal, CentralCal, Palm Springs, Vegas and then San Diego)! Really appreciate everyone that came to a GK Plays outing this year, we’ll likely have one more in December at Rams Hill. Although with the amount of prizes Linksoul and Golf Moose showered on us it sure felt like a year-end outing. Big thanks to sponsors. And an extra big thanks this time to Jeremy at Golf Moose that in addition to providing us gift cards, also set everyone up on a Golf Moose polo.

Thank You to Omni La Costa Resort for hosting our outing. Your service was fantastic as usual. Next time we’ll hopefully time it better when you are not in the middle of irrigation maintenance and turf scalping. I understand superintendents sometimes decide on maintenance procedures with little lead time. Likely well after we booked. Still a very fun layout and great course.

PS: No photos this time, it was a pretty hectic start with almost everyone arriving very close to the shotgun start due to heavy traffic and then a quick exit as the Vue restaurant needed our seating for their reservations. I was hustling like crazy. Just no time to snap photos.

These outings mean a lot to me and one of my favorite parts of them is meeting GKers I’ve been wanting to meet for years. I had a great time and looked like everyone else did too. Again thank you everyone for coming to this one and any others!

GK Plays Reflection Bay Golf Club Las Vegas is in the books. Our smallest outing to date yet given all the fun we had, amazing service by Reflection Bay, incredible golf course and awesome prizes, you would never know it.

I need to first and foremost thank GK’er Kevbig who works at Reflection Bay Golf Club and saw to it that we were treated extra special. From the moment I began organizing it to when we left. Service was exceptional from the entire staff all day long. When I came in as the last group there was a long table set up for all of us in the restaurant and all the prizes were beautifully displayed (thanks to Kevbig’s friend Lexi). Kevin even hooked us up with some free drink tickets.

Also huge thanks to AndrewZ28 for setting us up on awesome Linksoul golf apparel to give out and to GolfMoose for the $25 gift certificates.

Biggest thanks to everyone that came out, most of whom made a road trip weekend from SoCal. I know it’s not easy to commit to weekend golf in the heat of Summer in Vegas. Everyone was in super spirits.

We started 2018 GK Plays outings at Rams Hill and ended it there. Just a fantastic course. And although the greens were not in typical Rams Hill pure shape, the rest of the golf course was phenomenal. Beautiful weather and wonderful service. We’ll be back again in 2019!

Real glad I decided to do a double-shot year end GK Plays. Originally I planned this Omni La Costa outing for November but scheduling did not permit. Turned out we timed it perfect with great weather and playing conditions (still having nightmares about the long rough although – LOL).

I took a chance scheduling this in the heat of summer in Bullhead City but luckily the weather cooperated and the golf course was about as green as I’ve seen a desert course in the middle of the summer in a long time. Fantastic golf experience.

Was great how we had 6 players to jump in the last week bringing our total to 13 players. Linksoul and GolfMoose provided great prizes as usual and some GK’ers got to discover Laughlin Ranch which IMO is the hidden gem of the southwest right now. You can bet we’ll be having another outing here again. Next time likely in the early Spring so those of you that did not participate because of the heat, you’ll have an opportunity to enjoy it with pleasant temps in 2019. However, get up there and play it before that, you won’t be sorry.

Hey Everyone!

A day late in recapping our GK Plays than normal for me so my apologies. I already read some golf course reviews about the day which are greatly appreciated and instrumental to my efforts to organizing these outings. More reviews the better.
I think we really made the right call having this Sunday as opposed to Saturday. It’s my understanding the weather was very winding the day before and the area was a madhouse with the Stagecoach music festival. Instead we caught perfect weather, little crowds and beautifully maintained golf course.

We even had our 3rd ACE in a GK Plays by Nickesquire (Nick’s 2nd Ace ever).

Hey Everyone!

Another great outing and I really appreciate the support in coming out! Big thanks to Linksoul, Cleveland Golf/Srixon, GolfMoose and others. That was one loaded prize table!

Desert Willow Resort treated us terrific and their service was excellent. I like the added touch of providing us 15% off discount off any posted rate they have on their website for a future tee time. It was also great of them to set us up in an enclosed semi-private room when they anticipated the rain (although it barely rained). But I have to admit, like most of you, I was disappointed by the unexpected small tine aeration and bunker condition. I was made aware that the bunkers were to be prepared for a May renovation about a month ago but had the impression the bunkers would play very firm and would still be properly maintained which IMO they were not. Seems they had not been machine raked/turned in long time. As for the greens, this was most disappointing. Although in good shape overall, they would have been exceptional despite the recent small tines aeration had they been cut and rolled that morning. I understand the logistics of turf management and wish Desert Willow Golf Resort would have be able to proceed with small tine aeration after our GK Plays or a little more in advance of it. I can’t blame the tournament director I work with on this. He simply has no control over when a minor procedure to the greens it going to take place. Many times a small tine aeration is done with no advance warning.
Despite this let down in conditions not meeting high expectations I thoroughly enjoyed my day. They are great longtime supporters of GK and wonderful people to work with. It’s also a fabulous layout.
Our PGA WEST Greg Norman GK Plays is right around the corner. Less than 3 weeks. There are spots open so please join us. I’ve already called them and they said they won’t aerate the greens until June 20th.

Originally planned for 28 players, decided to give 32 players a shot and increased to 36 players with not a single cancellation...way out in Borrego Springs CA. 470 miles round trip drive for me from Ventura County yet not as far as Uncleddboy23 who came in from Peoria, Arizona. El Nino decided to makes us a little nervous early in the week but come Sunday it was nice to play golf. The course certainly lived up to its billing, the Rams Hill Staff was super accommodating and friendly, everything about the day was wonderful. It goes without saying Rams Hill is an annual stop on the GK Plays outing schedule.

Thanks everyone for coming out. Big thanks to GK’er AndrewZ28 for hooking us up was so many LinkSoul.com beautiful clothing. Hi Everyone,

This was our first attempt at a low cost GK Plays and I considered it a success. Being it was a Friday afternoon on a popular course with beautiful weather, I anticipated not the fastest pace of play. But overall I really enjoyed the playing experience. Judging by the many reviews already posted which I very much appreciate (and so important for GK) looks like most agree.

Have to say after the round was a blast too with most GK'ers being able to stick around. Big thanks to LinkSoul.com GK’er AndrewZ28 for hooking us up with all the great gear and discount purchase cards. Also big thank you to TLink.com for coming on as a new sponsor. I tried out the TLink on the course and found it very accurate with yardage. We’ll have many more to give away.

Something that really impressed me with Green River Golf Club was how accommodating they were. They had everything set up for us perfect making my life easier and what most of you don’t know is they kept the bar/grill open just for us as it normally closes around 5:00pm. Their service was excellent. I even got to talk with the GM and Superintendent before the round.

I was not sure how well received an outing like this, on short notice, high priced and long drive would be embraced. Well 19 out of 20 players and a bunch of fun was the result. Thank you to everyone who participated!

In my opinion, and my review will be more detailed, PLEASE remember write a review…fantastic layout and service but the drought has had an impact on the playing conditions of the fairways and aspects through the green. Although still in good shape overall, having played Sandpiper many times, it’s always been in much better shape. I think the coming El Nino rains are going to have a very positive impact on Sandpiper. We will be revisiting Santa Barbara for an outing coming in Spring.

I was concerned about the scorching heat wave but everyone showed up, stayed well and enjoyed the day. Afterwards I introduced our “Everyone Wins a Raffle Prize” process and proceeded to act like Santa Clause for the next 45 minutes. What a great time it was playing the course and hanging out in the Redhawk Golf Club Cantina. Good food and drinks. It was buzzing with us GK’ers talking and laughing it up! – To think how much fun just 20 GK’ers can have. Love it. Thanks Everyone!

I want to say right from the start, thank you everyone that came out! For close to ½ of the field this event was pretty local. For me, a 3 hour drive…but worth it!

Lots of new players for this one and some longtime GK’ers I finally got to meet.

I loved this entire event. I know the pace would be considered slow but I hardly noticed being surrounded by so many great people. The golf course, being my first time playing, exceeded my expectations in conditions and challenge. I definitely want another crack at it.

Got to give a big thanks to sixpez who handled all the scores inputting and with helping out with the prize table. Knowing I had that added help allowed me to socialize more at event which is my favorite part and not to mention be relaxed more on the course.

It seems I was the only one immune to Pete Dye’s diabolical intentions with the design of the Stadium Course. I managed to play the same ball the whole round, not have single penalty and never find any of his bunkers. But I believe I was more lucky than good as I only hit 3 greens in regulation in regulation but somehow always missed the greens in the right places.

I need to give another big thanks as always to TheBigDog who set up the score sheets for us and wish he could have made it.

I’ve been reading your reviews, really appreciate them and know it is those reviews that bring more awareness to GK allowing us to make these events possible to begin with.

- Our December Palm Springs event is our biggest every year and our best attended. Once again we will be at the beautiful Indian Wells Golf Resort, but this time playing the Players Course. The course should be in fantastic shape from overseeding and off the cart paths. After golf we'll be in a private room enjoying a delux Southwest Fajitas Buffet. For this outings I'll have a bunch of new GK SWAG with our new logo. If the stars alighn it will also be the kick-off for the new GK Mobile App. We will be doing a special closest-to-the-pin contest on hole 17 called the "Balata Hole" where you will be required to play a never hit HT-90 Maxfli Tour Balata to win a dozen GK logo golf balls (thank you GK'er Isoceles who donated the balata balls that had been sitting in his garage, never opened, for over 20 years). Being its the last outing of the year, I'll be unloading lots of prizes.

It was unseasonably cold and there were some unexpected twists this year but in the end it turned out to be a very successful GK Event again.

First off to anyone still concerned about member dconnally, he is fine now. I just want to express my deep sincere thanks to everyone that came to his aid.

I want to thank Paisano for all his help running the Hopkins Golf wedge contest and of course Hopkins Golf for being so generous to donate a couple of their excellent clubs. Also thank you to everyone that helped at our awards/dinner. I always know all I have to do is ask and GK’ers don’t hesitate to assist. And as always a big thanks to TheBigDog for setting up our spreadsheets.

Pretty crazy day but wow, with all the commotion this was by far our best scoring event…not an easy course at that!

The dinner was delicious with plenty of food, deserts and drinks. Indian Wells Golf Resort did a great job with the service as well. Actually they did a super job all day long assisting us with everything.

I’ve read many of your reviews already and can’t express enough how much I appreciate you writing them. If we did not write many reviews after our events, we would never get the great deals. It’s that important. Positive or negative…please express yourself.

I am working on our 2014 event schedule now. Please stay tuned to the GK Events page for updates. Almost certain we will be back out to Palm Springs in May 2014. There should be one or two events before that.
