Greens were fast and furious all round.

The courses in N CA are far superior than 80% of the S CA courses. I can back that up after playing in S CA for 24 years.

I am looking forward to playing Yocha Dehe soon.

Played today in another beautiful weather day in Napa. $50 Sr w cart of course a rate which was well worth it.

If you think Eagle Vines is a great course, wait until you play this one. One next door to each other. A great way to spend a day playing 36 holes.

For those of you who suffer from no tee times come to N CA. The courses are wide open and available. I am shocked that these courses are so uncrowded unlike S CA.

Once upon a time this course was a 36 hole complex. It is now an 18 hole only. And its claim to fame IMO is their par 3's. Six of them. And guess what 6 par 5's. All 6 par 3's stand out but only IMO does 1 par 5 really stand alone.

Tee boxes were all clean, level and playable.

Fairways are wide, generous, good lies and fantastic roll out. And stay in them you don't want to be in the rough. I even found myself in trouble on a few Par 5's thinking that I could not reach the hazard and would be safely hitting 2 and then 3 into the green. But the rollout was more than I expected. Something to remember the next time I play here.

Rough was wicked. Hit into it and you will spend a lot of time looking for your ball. In fact I never found two that went in and I was certain were they went in. No luck.

Add in the many OB areas, like vineyards, water, creeks, culverts in front of greens + the rough and you have a disaster of a round by the time you end. Oh yeah many trees on all the par 3's.

Traps were the one negative on this course. They were all hard and crusty and obviously need work.

Every Par 3 is either below the tee box, circled by a vineyard or has water in play. #8 their signature hole has an 85 yard green that goes left to right and has numerous undulations. It is also several hundred yards below the tee box. And if you miss the green, good luck the rough is DEEP. Oh and yes there of course bunkers.

But before # 8 there is #7 a 582 yard Par 5 from the tips and has a green that is about 50 to 60 yards above the end of the fairway, which is almost impossble to see and the green is 75 yards long from front to back.

I totally enjoyed the course. Many of the holes seem easy to navigate but the first time player will be shocked to see what is around the next corner. Its a fun couse to play and I highly recommend it if you are in the Napa area.

Yes Silverado is right around the corner. But I guarantee you you will enjoy these two courses equally if not better and your wallet will thank you.

Great customer service from the pro shop. Excellent Yamaha carts but no GPS so bring your own. No cart service that I saw today. Bring plenty of water.

Lunch was simple fare Hot dog and Hamburger cold draft beers. More fancy options available on lunch menu. All good as was the waitstaff. Check-in easy in pro-shop using golf moose voucher and directed to the first tee for the MGF afternoon round here. So we didn't use the large grass range. Today weather ideal for PM play. POP was 4.5 Course was busy and weather partly sunny.
Comparing to the nearby EV which we played in the morning and honest assessment is that Chardonnay is a notch or two up in most areas. Greens are fine rolling smooth medium pace. They are large with the scorecard showing 6 hole locations for them. One or two clubs difference from a center of the green yardage to a back or front pin. Fairways tight lie drives rolling out well. The rough and edges of the course are more kept and less weed crabgrass spots as compared to it's next door neighbor.
A solid public course that I enjoy playing. Like a fine wine it gets better with time. The scenery and routing are terrific. Still learning the bounces and the lay-ups which require the players attention.

Late Thursday morning tee time at CGC. Course is in a great setting in the middle of wine vineyards. Tee sheet was completely full and they were hosting the PGA Drive, Pitch and Putt competition. As we were walking up to check in one of the participants had just won and she was on cloud nine, nice to see some good junior players. Tees, fairways and rough had good coverage. Rough was thick and hard to hit a wood or hybrid out of. Greens were smooth and held shots. Traps were kind of hit or miss with conditioning. Layout requires some local knowledge and green complexes were tough, lots of elevation changes on the greens had many chances at three putts.
POP was 4.5 hours, all on course amenities were open and staff were very accommodating.

Love this course and try to play it whenever (11/12/2020) I'm in town to pick some wine. Played with three locals that were lots of fun. Course is in nice shape as it always is.

I play here often - Course is great condition for winter and no rain-all good lies in fairway - greens always great shape and roll pretty true - rough is short - got behind tourney and almost 5 hours - usually only about four hour round-one of the good things about it - all grass range - nice people - go have fun.

Played 7-23-19 mid morning for $60 including cart joining another single on the second hole and finishing in a little over three hours. Tee boxes had good coverage but I did have to search for a level stance on most holes, maybe it was just where the tee placement was. Fairways were very nice, lush with decent roll out and very nice lies. Rough was in good condition very lush and cut to about two inches longer than fairways. Was not in any bunkers but they looked to be in good shape and well groomed. Greens were very nice, rolling medium pace and smooth and holding shots very nice. Overall course was in very nice condition. Fun scenic layout with a nice variety holes to keep you interested. Not a fan of 6 par threes but I like 6 par fives.

Played Chardonnay in late April for the first time in several years. A fun layout with 6 Par 3's, 6 Par 4's, and 6 Par 5's, which you don't see every day.

Staff and Facilities:
The pro shop was well stocked, with a friendly staff. The beverage cart was running until 4PM and the turn snack shack was open. Great service and food was good.

Course and conditions:
Course was in excellent shape as the spring rains have really greened everything up. Greens ran a little on the slower side as they had been punched and sanded 3 weeks prior and were still at the very later stages of coming out of it. Fairways were lush green. Tee boxes in great shape.

I'd highly recommend playing here if in the Napa area.
