Silverado north course is a fun course. It's always exciting to play where the pro's play. Silverado is home to the first PGA event of the season, the Safeway Open, and it's kind of cool that they leave the 18th green grandstand up all season. It feels like you're walking right into a PGA EVENT. So, course feel rates a 10 right away. The course is not as challenging as you might think for a PGA Tour event, it's a resort course after all, but with Johnny millers update and attention it's a quality experience. Conditions are very good all around. With all the rain lately it's been cart path only for months, but I'd suggest walking anyway. It's very walkable with minor elevation changes. These days you have to stay at the resort or put together 12 guys to play, which is what we did. So, with our own mini tournament and a group deal that included the famous burger dog (same one as the Olympic club), it was a heck of a good time. Nice 19th to wrap it all up. The course will play wet for a while, but they've been able to cut the rough and maintain traps decently. Greens are superb and tee boxes just fine. Pace of play is comfortable. Only downside is the driving range was closed, but short game area is open. If you're an NCGA member and don't want to get 12 guys together or stay there, a little expensive, look into the weekend net tour events. Several offerings at a reasonable price.

Played Silverado Resort as part of my Northern CA golf trip. The course, from the moment you walk in, presents itself as top notch. From the Grand club house and customer service to the ease of check in, and then out to the warm up facilities everything here is top of the line.
The starter is friendly and gives excellent advice for first time players. Fairways are very lush yet still have a bit of descent roll to them. Sand bunkers are deep and very penal in nature. You will not find many fairway bunkers here just ones located in strategic places to catch drives that have gone astray. Fairways are a mixed bag of tight and generous landing areas. The one main defense of this course is the mature trees that line each fairway causing you to think before each shot and shape several into the large greens that have several breaks and many with two breaks. Greenside bunkers here are deep and very penal and a short side is almost certain bogey. The sand is white and fluffy with a 4 inch base, rough here is also penal at 3-4 inches and very thick.
The double dog leg 5th is to me the hardest hole on this truly great course, with tight landing areas and bunkers that catch misplayed shots your looking at certain bogey to land in the deep and well placed fairway bunkers. Water comes into play are several of the par threes and requires you to carry the entire shot.
At just over 150.00 for a round it can be a little expensive but for a golf trip it is well worth the price and I would certainly play again if I have the chance.

Fairways thin and wet so the ball lands and stops. Rough lush with long grass due to the rain. Sand was wet as well. The course does present well and would be a sufficient challenge when it dries out a bit more. Layout not bad (yawn) with many interesting holes, some greens being quite tricky. Good resort F&B with roomy practice area and putting greens. Very good customer service. With a member the rate a reasonable $40 walking. Otherwise pricey.

Played this course on a sunday twilight for $85. That's an OK value, but no great shakes. This is a ho-hum track with forgettable holes. I know it's hosted some senior events and is well respected, but come-on. There are a lot of great courses in the bay area at that rate, just not in Napa Valley. I will say the greens were in excellent condition and the course has a few good, long par 4's on the back nine when played from the Blues. Just the same, don't get caught up in thinking this is a great "tour" track. You can go down the road to Eagle Vines which is a GREAT track at about the same price.

Fairways were in bad shape, but the greens were quite nice. This is a nice, old-school course: No gimmicks anywhere; trees that look like they've been there forever; nothing fancy.

I played the course for afternoon twilight on weekday. I had not been here for some years and hod great memories of this course. This time I was shocked at the condition of the fairways.....it was like a suffering muni course.....like SkyWest in Hayward. I dont know what happened here. It may be there fairways have a disease but nobody seemed to know and the pro shop naturally said nothing . Fortunately the greens were fairly nice, and the snack shops out on the course still make those great hamburgers and hot dogs. The twilight was quite good at only $40. including cart so all in all, it wasnt a bad deal. I feel pretty sorry for the members , et al, who now probably cant sell their memberships and the condo owners cant sell their investments either due to the poor conditons of the course.
So sad.

The greens are the highlight of the course because they are in great shape and true.. The tee boxes are in fairly decent shape. If your in Napa go play Napa Valley GC, Chardonnay or Eagle vines..
