Played today, Sat. 9/29 at about 11:30am. Paired up with three others on a light play day, with no one in front of us, and POP was 3hrs50mins. Friendly greeting in the pro shop, first time here, so the gent gave me a yardage book. Carts are older, but in good shape, but did not have GPS.

After seeing Johnny's previous review from last year, had hoped for better conditions than I came across today on this Ted Robinson, Jr-designed course. Looked a bit tired and uncared-for in a number of spots.

First two greens had burned out areas right in the middle of them. Others had some bumpy spots. For the most part, however, they were the feature on the day, providing a good challenge, being firm and very fast in spots w/extreme slopes that will take your ball off the green, even on what you might think is a good shot. A very good challenge.

I think the course has endured some hot weather, but it is hanging in there. Some burnt out areas, mostly in the rough. Fairways were pretty inconsistent, but did provide decent roll-out and were wide enough. A few holes had narrow openings from the teeboxes due to trees near the tees framing the shot. Tees were mostly level at the white markers.

Bunkers were a bit wet from the day's mist and light drizzle (the course needs it), and did encounter a few, with the sand being dark grey, heavy sand. Found four traps, ended up in 1 footprint.

I think the course is OK, but nothing to write home about. Very good value at $28 on the weekend, including cart, so would not hesitate to return at that rate. Would be better if the rough was longer/more penal and the traps had better sand. About on par with Bennett Valley, imho. Would rather play Windsor GC, Rooster Run, Eagle Vines and Chardonnay, and of course The Links at Bodega Harbour in the Santa Rosa area, but the price is tough to beat!
