I've owned my GolfLogix for about one year and when it works well, it is great, but I have had to wait for 2 major firmware fixes to solve "locking up" problems with the unit. Initially, they did not know what was wrong and just sent me a replacement unit, which entailed set-up/download work for me and solved nothing. Even after the initial "fix" I still had occasional problems--one day it never found the satellite at all even though the course was loaded into the unit. The staff on their support desk are helpful and knowledgable, but they are not the programmers who fix the software/firmware problems. It is working fine now, but it's been a tough year and lots of hassles for me to get to this point. » Close

OK here's the scoop. While this little gadget won't fix your slice or dreaded snap hook, it will however help greatly in the club selection process and course management. I picked this brand for a few reasons. First for it's simplicity. I don't want to have to push a bunch of buttons and worry about operating this thing while I'm trying to focus on golf. After 3 rounds I've got a routine. Typical par 4. Standing at the tee, I check yardage, distance to any hazards then press the enter button which puts it in "Distance of Last Shot" mode. I walk to my ball, look at it again to see the distance and press the enter button again to put it back to regular yardage mode. That's it. You don't need to hit anything if you don't care about the last shot feature. To get it working for your round I turn it on when I get there. It knows what course I'm on and where I'm at. It's that simple. Another reason I got this one was the annual fee of 29.00 for unlimited downloads seems better than those other ones and also the fact that it's made by Garmin who also makes GPS for the car. I figure they're not going anywhere and will stay in business.
The down side is that when you tell your buddies about the 280 yard bombs you've been hitting you will know it's a lie rather than a little harmless exaggeration!
Will this save strokes? YES in the long run absolutely. Oh and for all of you that were reading glasses and worry about have to wear them to see the screen, No worries. I wear 1.50 power and have no problem seeing the smallest print.
So there you have it. Get one. It will make you a smarter golfer. » Close

I was SOLD on the customer service @ Garmin long before I purchased the device! I am a golf Caddie in Southern California. I purchased this item because it was so FREAKIN easy to use! I NO LONGER will need a laser finder, look ALL over for a sprinkler head that may have a yardage listed or a yardage book. During the round, there are NO EXTRA BUTTONS to push, NO SCROLLING, NO TARGETS TO AIM AT! It is so accurate, the most deviation is 1-2 yards, yardages are given to ALL bunkers Left & Right, yardage to carry the bunker, water hazards and yardage to the end of the fairway. First time using it I scored a 67 +2 over (PAR 65), I had NEVER seen the layout. Easy to download courses & make changes right from your computer! It's worth the $29.95 annual fee...Have access to 15K courses WORLDWIDE TOO! » Close
