This is the second city course Ive played on Oahu after Pali. This course is a solid option with a local rate of 32 dollars to walk on the weekends. The course plays longer than the scorecard states but is still a little bit short around 6000 yards par 71. The course is green right now after recent rains. Greens were decent, fairly smooth but definitely on the slower side. This course has variety of holes with some short gettable par fives but also a few long par fours. Course was slammed while we were there and got finished about 5.5 hours after our original tee time. I heard this is abnormal from everyone I talked to stating pace of play is usually fine. Would definitely give the course another try for the affordable price and solid conditions tee to green. No snack bar, no restaurant open, broken vending machine, bring your own snacks and drinks and plan ahead.

Played golf up at Mililani golf course for the first time two weeks ago. The course is located in neighborhoods in the middle of Mililani. It definitely has the feel of a local spot and city course. Proshop is pretty bare bones but they have a restaurant on site that is actually really good. Solid driving range and good practice putting greens. The course punched their greens recently I think around the second week in September and they were still healing but looked like they’d be really nice in a few weeks. More of a tree lines course than you see in other areas of Oahu, pretty open off the tee and areas to miss. Greens had a little slope to them and there were some nice par threes. Fairways were full and in nice mowed shape. Not a lot of heavy rough. I wouldn’t say the course is too tough but could be enjoyable for any level golfer. Would definitely head back once the greens heal to play it again.

Played Ewa Beach Golf Club this morning 8/27/22 for the first time. Course is very close to the ocean but you wouldn’t know it based on the layout and design. This is a very challenging layout, especially the starting holes. The fairways are very narrow, the rough is long and lush, and the greens are FIRM. Condition wise this is one of the best I’ve played in Hawaii. I’m not sure a high handicap golfer would have as much fun here as at a course like Koolina or Kapolei because of the difficulty but a better golfer will really enjoy the course. I’d highly recommend playing here, 75 dollars weekend resident rate. Out of state gets pricey over 150 I think so that’s pushing it.

Drove about an hour to the north shore to play Turtle Bay Palmer course for the first time. I will start by overall saying based on past reviews and pictures this course is on a downslope. There are numerous brown and dried out spots in fairways currently. The greens have some patchy areas where they’ve lost grass and there’s some light sand on them. The bunkers are okay. The rough is pretty short and patchy in areas. Local twilight rate isn’t too bad under 70 bucks but the guest rates are out of range right now. The front nine is nothing special with layout similar to most courses out here, a lot of water especially on the par threes. The back nine definitely is the better nine and has a variety of pretty interesting holes and some photo worthy spots. Kinda a bummer there’s such minimal view of the ocean when the property owns so much ocean front land. If you live locally to the course it’s not a bad option but all the press about this being a past top 100 public course for the US is long time gone as far as I see it and not worth the trip from Waikiki.

Side note the Fazio course which I played years ago is closed but sounds like it may reopen sometime soon this year, currently pretty brown and not maintained.

Played for the first time today. Really fun layout, I really enjoyed the front nine it is really long from the tips and the views were great. Some really nice green complexes framed by palm trees. Greens were punched about 3 weeks ago so hard to judge them at this time they’re slow and bumpy with brown spots. The fairways were great for the most part very full and lush and mowed nicely. Not much rough out there. They have the red bunker sand that is a little bit like dirt in spots but it played pretty well actually. Would definitely recommend checking it out if you have time and are looking for a little more variety and design with rolling hills and trees.

Played Kaploei today at twilight first time out here. Course hosted the LPGA Lotte Championship in 2021 and has a nice driving range and great giant putting green when pulling in. Very nice clubhouse and facilities overall. This is a Ted Robinson design and if you’ve played one you’ve played them all. The front nine is mundane with the exception of number 9. The back 9 was actually a really enjoyable layout with a lot of water features and exceeded my expectations. The greens are in exceptional condition and rolling about a 10-11 which is as fast as I’ve seen on Oahu so far. The fairways are mowed very tight and have great coverage. Rough is thick and shaped well. The bunkers are a little below average shape and I’d expect a little better for a course like this considering the rest of the conditions. Overall it’s a solid course with great conditions that is an excellent value for locals and a little overpriced for visitors. I wouldn’t recommend this course if you’re on vacation looking for something special to play, but it’s a solid local option.

Played this morning for the first time. Got out as a twosome by ourselves which was great. The course has phenomenal land and a front nine that has a layout and scenery that rivals any course I’ve ever played. The back nine has some solid holes but the finishing holes were a little lackluster compared to the front nine. The course punched their greens recently and are still recovering so didn’t get a good feel of how the greens normally play, in another 3 weeks they should be good. The fairways have good coverage, a little thin in places. Rough is long and lush is most places. I’d highly highly recommend coming out and playing this course if you’re on vacation and looking for a great course for around 150-180. Local rates are a steal at 45-65.

Recently moved to Oahu and this was the first course I have played.
It is a good resort style course that winds in and out of a housing track for the most part. It is a Ted Robinson design which always are fairly boring and straight forward layouts to me, although there are a solid grouping of par threes at this course with some nice water features. Most of the par fours and par fives blend together without much distinction. It is a generally wide course off the tee and not too challenging. The green complexes are good with some definite slope to them. Conditions were good with full fairways, great tee boxes and nice bunkers. The greens had full coverage and were smooth but were definitely slower than what I'm used to seeing. If you're in Hawaii for vacation I definitely wouldn't say this course is one you need to check out, but as a local spot it's not bad.

Played twilight out at Mesa Linda on 3/30/2021. I was just trying to get 9 holes in after work and was able to do so in about 2.5 hours... super slow for a course this length. Waited on every shot. Pace of play was terrible but conditions were solid. Greens were in really nice shape, smooth, medium-fast and firm. Fairways had good coverage but a mix of bare spots as well. Rough is patchy with some thick spots and plenty of bare spots. The one bunker I was in had good sand actually. Tee boxes were definitely better than they usually are out here, less beat up, mowed and was able to find some real grass. For the price I think its a great value in Orange County but the POP is always a struggle.

Played the South course at twilight today and man what a treat. Pristine shape right now. The fairways are firm, full and fantastic to hit off of. The rough is good, not overly long but penalizing in certain areas. Bunkers are good. Tee boxes are near perfection. Greens were firm, smooth and medium speeds. Absolutely worth getting out right now if you can grab a tee time. Caught good weather and a beautiful sunset out there. Tough to beat the location.

First time out at goat hill this morning. Had wanted to check it out for a while, with the kind of publicity this place gets for its vibes and style. I knew what this course was about but was not as good as I was expecting to be honest. The second and third holes both had mud for tee boxes so on number two we hit off a mat. On three the hole was played from a temporary 175 tee instead of par four. The fairways and rough are about as bad as you can find at a course in business except number ten which looks recently resodded. The saving grace is the green complexes are good, small, sloped and in fairly good shape, being pretty smooth and medium speed. Our round took 4 hours and 20 minutes for a course measuring 4400 yards which is an absolute joke to me. Our group almost got hit multiple times by errant shots. There are also 3-4 blind tee shots where you can’t tell if the group in front of you has cleared the fairway or not, which I thought was pretty strange. Luckily we came down to play Torrey pines and this was just an extra round, would’ve been pretty bummed to drive down from OC for this place. I have plenty of friends who enjoy this course though, don’t know if we caught it at a bad time or just not my cup of tea, probably both.

Played twilight at the Ike course yesterday, snuck all 18 in just in time. One of the few courses that I've been able to get a tee time at lately. While I think the Babe course is one of my least favorite layouts in So. California, I feel the opposite about the Ike and really love the design.

The tee boxes and bunkers were about average condition, didn't think about them one way or the other. The fairways are dormant and very thin in many spots where its close to hardpan. Rough is patchy, some spots are thick some are absolute hard pan. Highlight of the course is 100% the greens. Wish people would repair their ball marks out here, because other than that, the greens are pretty much perfect, veryyy fast downhillers, rolling smooth, receptive and able to spin back mid irons. They have very reasonable twilight times and pricing here, may need to make more drives this way in the future. Very challenging layout but also a good mix of birdie holes out there too.
