In celebration of Greenskeeper.org at its 10 year anniversary Fear, Bray33, and I played the 12 hole par 3 course prior to the Old course on Saturday, September 29, 2012. This is a fun course to play and it is challenging for sure. The first 4 holes were played in a fog and you could only see about where the greens were located not to mention the flag! A shotgun start at 8:00 and we were off and laughing about where our tee shots ended up until the fog burned off. The course makes you plan your shots and some of the holes were quite long making you pull hybrid clubs instead of irons! I did not play this course last year but that will not happen again because it is just so much fun and a great warm up for the Old Course. Join the rest of us next year and you will be glad you did.

Several GK members played La Purisima Golf Club on Friday, September 28, 2012 in a warm up round. There were two groups, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. I played in the afternoon group with John_T and Rob1563 from Las Vegas who joined us for the weekend. The course staff was great and the food in the restaurant was very good. The course is tough and you soon learned to stay in the fairway because the rough was brutal! The fairways were a little tight due to the heat of the summer but otherwise OK. Tee boxes were level and in serviceable condition. The greens were quick and difficult to read but I managed to make a few putts. Overall the course is very challenging but interesting. I did not get to finish because of darkness and having dinner reservations with 9 other GK members in Buellton. I played 15 holes and I will be back to play the course again. Highly recommended for a complete test of your game!

While driving home from the GK Plays Stevinson Ranch,we made a unanimous decision to stop and play super twilight at Ridge Creek Dinuba! This was great because I had to miss the GK outing there a few years ago due to having the flu.

We arrived about 4:45 and they got us out on the course at 5:00. We skipped #1 due to two Father/Son carts just teeing off – we simply had to get going! We played through to #13 and the sun was nearly down so Johnny said “let’s play 18” so we went cross country and picked up the cart path to #18. It was very hard to see but we finished the hole and headed out on the road again.

Thank you Ridge Creek Dinuba for getting us out so quickly! This course is in very good condition and is similar to Stevinson Ranch conditions. A good time was had by all of us! When was the last time you saw a fivesome play 14 holes in 2 hours and 35 minutes on a Saturday? LOL!

I played in the GK event on Friday, May 4, 2012 at Robinson Ranch (Valley) under blue skies and mid 70 temperatures with a slight breeze that picked up on the back nine. I am always impressed with the staff at this golf course being attentive from arrival to departure. The course is in great shape with lush fairways and tee boxes, good sand in the greenside bunkers, and greens that are in great condition with few ball marks. Only the fairway bunkers needed attention as they were a little bare. This course is always challenging and visually exciting with its elevated tees providing panoramic views of the valley. JohnnyGK and TheBigDog put on another great outing and their efforts are greatly appreciated! I just wish I could find my game…..I know it’s around here somewhere! LOL!

I played in the GK outing on Saturday, April 21, 2012 under unusual weather conditions! It was HOT! However, the course is in such excellent condition you forget about it after a while. I have played here a few times now and I have never been disappointed. The staff at Eagle Falls continues to be courteous and helpful from arrival to departure and that is a big plus in my opinion. The greens keeping team keeps this jewel in tip-top shape. Props to them and Willie for providing the best golfing experience in the area!

Kudos to JohnnyGK for arranging another outstanding outing for our members!

I would be remiss if I did not thank my playing partner dralchien for keeping watch on me when I flamed out on holes 11, 12, and 13 from the heat. I was forced to take double par on those holes but got a re-light by 14 after cooling down enough to finish. The good doctor kept encouraging me and exclaimed “Jesse you’re back!” when I could again drive a golf ball off the tee! It is this community coming together to enjoy the game and helping each other when needed that keeps me attending these outings.

All told it was a great day at a great course playing with some of the best people I have had the pleasure to meet. I enjoyed playing with Johnny for the first 4 holes before he left to attend to other things. Thanks Johnny! Now, if I could just cure my pull on #1 it would be miraculous indeed!

I recommend this course to everyone I meet because I know they cannot go wrong by playing here. I just wish I could come out more often but that is left to the future. Also, for those sitting on the fence about joining us at a gathering – you are missing out big time! LOL!

SilverRock Resort in La Quinta, California. Played Sunday, 12/11/2011 in the makeup GK outing from last May 15th when outrageous sustained winds of 60-80 mph forced an end to what started out as a pleasant day! However, this day the golf gods were totally with us all and it was one of the best outings one could have imagined. The outstanding staff at the course made the day a special one. If they were trying to make up for what Mother Nature dished out last time they succeeded! JohnnyGK put another notch in your belt for this one, buddy! The golf course is in pristine condition and will be even better in the coming weeks when the balance of the maintenance is completed. The areas under maintenance are NOT playing surfaces but peripheral grass and plants. This is a tough course but one that rewards well struck shots. Visually striking, the holes range from average to way tough! Fairways were lush, tee boxes were in good shape, sand was wet on a few holes but playable overall. A good time was enjoyed by our group and we were treated to a Mexican buffet at the clubhouse after the round. The hot food and the camaraderie made it all worthwhile at the end of the day! Come play this course in prime time. It will test your skills while providing a beautiful backdrop all around the course. I dare say we will be back to play this one once again in the future. What say Johnny?

Eagle Falls in Indio, California. Played Saturday, 12/10/2011 with GK members Sbogey, Cpennbo, kviser, Moneysworth, and Fear. We teed off on time at 10:45 after the starter paired Fear and I up with Don and Danny, two good golfers from Seattle, Washington to make a second foursome. Kudos to Willy and his staff for treating us right and providing a course that was stunning to view from every tee box. The course is in the best condition I have ever seen it; Truly picture postcard perfect! The fairways were so lush you wouldn't want to mar them with a divot! Greens of velvet that rolled fast and true and showing evidence of the care that players were taking by fixing their ball marks. Sand was great and I even looked like I knew what I was doing when the ball was out in one! Tee boxes were in great shape and mirrored the care displayed around the course. The weather cooperated with a nice 77° day and very little wind. Although the course is beautiful, it is no pushover either! You had to make your shots count to avoid the hazards! Steve, thank you for setting this outing up. It is very much appreciated by all participants. I recommend playing this course to anyone who wants to have a PGA quality round with good friends that you will be talking about for a long time! Best rated. Highly recommended. Come out and play this course! You will not be disappointed, trust me, I know!

Desert Dunes in Desert Hot Springs, California. Played Friday, 12/9/2011 with GK members kviser and Moneysworth. We had an 11:12 tee time but the starter got us out earlier. Near perfect weather and just a gentle breeze made for an enjoyable round with good friends! The course's staff and the cart girl were friendly and helpful with the cart cart girl making regular rounds just when you needed more refreshments and/or a snack! Course conditions overall were good. I was surprised to see more than a few ball marks on the greens due to players not making repairs - too bad, it really is a nice layout. Greens surface bumpy from ball marks and recent aeration maintenance. Fairways were in decent shape. Rough was not too penal. Lots of dunes guarding the approach to the greens hence the course's name. No opinion about sand in bunkers because I can't remember being in any (A rare occurrence!) all day. Pace of play was a little slow at times but all considered a day out playing with your buds trumps the minor issues. Recommended with the reservation that the regulars do their part and fix their ball marks and divots. It was a great warm up round for the rest of the weekend to come!

Played Saturday, May 15, 2010 in the Greenskeeper outing. Course staff was first rate from bag drop to seeing us off to the parking lot. VIP treatment all day! The course was magnificent and the weather was nearly perfect at low 90's with a wisp of cloud cover. There was virtually no wind due to the location of La Quinta being behind the mountains. This is a very challenging course for low and high handicappers! The fairways were lush and I was amazed at how few divots there were on this course. The greens were smooth, firm, and did not hold shots well; Best to chip on close and putt out. Putting speed was approx. 9-11 I would say for most greens. My singular complaint was the wetness under the surface of the sand in the bunkers. It was a struggle to get out with a SW made for fluffy lies! The tee boxes were lush for the most part and looked to be level. The maintenance on this course is the best I have seen! The course design is visually intimidating so pay attention to the GPS for clues on what is up ahead. The flyover display as you approach each hole is very helpful in planning strategy. A tough course but fair in that it did not present blind shots, etc. Prior course knowledge or playing with someone who has played here can help a lot. The day on the course and the award ceremony ably handled by JohnnyGK and Robstretch put the finishing touches on a memorable experience. Highly recommended at this time of year while it is not too hot!

Played on Saturday, April 24, 2010 in the GK outing. Once again JohnnyGK and staff provided another great venue to test your skill and patience! Very much appreciated.

The course staff were very friendly and accomodating to our group. This course meanders through the foothills of this small mountain town and the experience was one of serenity. I think I remember an airplane and a truck or tractor but that is all except for the ribbing coming from some of the greens!

The fairways were firm which provided aid with rollout on drives. The greens were also firm/fast and had some tricky breaks that required close study for successful putting. The greens would not hold a pitch shot so chipping or bump and run became the preferred approach. Tee boxes were level and in good condition. Sand traps were sparse on actual sand seeming to be loamy soil and difficult to escape from once in one! Overall the course is challenging with mature trees and very dense brush to capture errant tee shots!

This course is recommended for its challenge, serenity, and excellent course staff to take care of your needs.

Played Thursday, February 25, 2010 in the GK outing. Perfect weather with very little wind. Fairways in good condition with good rollout. Rough not too penal as far as length but some areas clumpy and hard to advance the ball from the low spots. Tee boxes in great condition. Bunkers slightly firm but not packed and getting out not a problem. Greens were on the quick side and unpredictable at best. Great course and facilities and would recommend to anyone looking for a challenge!

Played in TheBigDog's outing on September 17th. This was my first time playing a TPC course. I was not prepared for the back nine even though I was warned it was going to be a tough one! No. 15 is 500+ yards and all of it blind! The tee boxes were in good shape. The fairways were in great shape considering the time of year! I can't speak about the sand bunkers since I was not in any of them! Wow! That's a first! The greens were fast and got faster later in the round. A very challenging course indeed!

This is another well organized outing by TheBigDog with assistance from JohnnyGK. A Special Thank You to cafootdoc for allowing us to get our collective feet in the door — So to speak! The TPC staff were very friendly and helpful. We welcomed some new members who I am sure had a good time. If you get the opportunity to play this course, do so. You will have to think your way around this course, especially the last few holes!
