Played mid-day Friday the 13th! And it wasn't bad luck. Partly sunny start It did drizzle on the back 9 but not enough to soak through your sweater.
Course overall in good to great shape. On holes 10 and 11 some fairway areas re-sodded and marked accordingly. Tee boxes level. Rough is manageable in most areas, thick and plush in others. The greens while rolling well had quite a few ball marks repaired and not otherwise no complaints. Subtle breaks need good feel and reads.
Covid-19 protocols and a security gate set-up near casino. Guard there to take your temperature before the drive to bag drop.
The NorCal weather has transitioned courses naturally into fall / winter playing conditions.
As always this track is a recommend.

Played Sunday 11/8 early (8:30) shotgun as second day of a stroke play (net) tourney.

What a difference a day makes weather wise. Saturday was cool mostly sunny breezy after a cold front pushed showers through with Friday night rain. Sunday the winds picked up out of the WNW (Fall was ushered in) It blew 20+ all day with gusts to 38+mph. Yikes some players shy away from that kind of blow.

The trees were raining golf balls! Yes the Monterey pines were giving back what they took over the summer. Nice bonus finds as those not with an identifying mark went in the bag.

POP was 5 hours due to the wind and hole everything out. The greens would fool some in my group as few times as they are slick and quick. The ball was oscillating on the green.

All course conditions excellent like other reviews concur. See Blackhorse reviews too as both courses are similar in conditions. All areas rate high and worthy of the ratings.

A few holes had tree work being done and debris on ground was free drop. A few areas between holes roped off also free drop nearest point of relief areas.

On my annual list for a reason. It's fine fine.

Played 11/7 11:30 start after an evening of rain. Probably a gully washer as the loose dirt on side of cart paths ran over cement when draining. You could not tell on the course with exception of a few areas of bowled grass without bunker. And a few bunkers showed evidence of it too. Otherwise course overall in exceptional condition in all areas. The redesign years back must have included sand cap as drainage was excellent.
Covid restrictions no inside dining and mask requirements.
Greens slick and fast. Fairways tight rolling out rough enough to pay attention to.
Views of Monterey Bay and it's a course that has the look and the challenge that any golfer would be pleased experiencing.

Played 10/26 second round of the day walking this one. Finishing half hour before sun setting into the Pacific.
Have been on the course before for Mecum car auctions in August and was looking forward to playing the classic design. The Hyatt Regency is right on the course if you need close quarters.
Prior two reviews properly describe playing conditions. The greens are small and on the faster side of medium speed. Held shots well. Lush and green like the fairways.

Played the final day of the course's season 10/18/20. Second group of day out at 10:10
Greens a little faster than normal.
Fairways had been punched late September and recently the areas around the greens and bunkers not fringe. Some par three white tee boxes (#8 for sure) need some over-seeding.
Had a great season here taking advantage of a ten play package usually offered in the early season. This was the second year using that plan.
Let it snow soon...

High ratings in all areas at this ocean-side gem. Played 10/11 8:30 on 225 mile 1-way day trip ride from Sacramento, and it was worth it.
Driving Route 1 past Marina and Seaside at sunrise Monterey Bay in view mild temperature gentle breeze. Just as we got to the SB parking lot the fog came in quickly. Played the first 3 holes in pea soup by feel and general direction from Alex only one of our group with experience here. Sun came out warm partly sunny the rest of the round. Nice as can be.
Greens rolled well maybe a touch slow as they had been liquid fertilized recently. All conditions excellent.
First tee area can be a little crowded. PPE protocol being followed.
Nothing more to say than highly recommend.

Played 10/4/20 early the dew was heavy on the grasses front 9. Course conditions overall very playable. I didn't lose a ball which doesn't often happen in my round.
Greens healed from aeration rolling a bit slow and bumpy allowing for aggressiveness with the flat stick. Alas held birdie-less. Two triples kept me out of the 80's
Fairways nice. Sand traps wet and footprints in most need a tilling.
Good service fast POP and it's a recommend as a lower difficulty rating and slope course. Busy when we finished most carts out on the course. Practical Covid rules.
Ok Fun.

Putting in my 2 cents to go along with the other GK reviews from Saturday 9/26.
Have had the course on my want to play list for a long time and interest increased with Mpisarski01 rating this it so highly.
It is more than I expected. Plenty of acreage so there are no holes forced into the landscape. Robert E Cupp (opened 2005) had all kinds of room and used it wisely. A fair test for any level player with many sets of tees and lots of room of the tee. The woods give up a few lost Pro V's and TP5's if you go in there looking for one of you own.
Just a neat experience from the time you check in at the security gate. Personal service from the bag drop to getting a ride uphill back to the parking lot from the "lake house" clubhouse over looking the 18th green after the round.
A NorCal / Reno NV / Truckee CA area must play for the golf aficionado. On my top ten list of courses I've played.
Highly recommend *****

Played Friday the first round of three in a row. 45 min to an hour drive north of Truckee CA.
Course has a simple efficient clubhouse and check-in driving range close to first tee. Course is very green and lush. Little smoke this day made it a perfect autumn Sierra golf day.

Mix of local and resort players and a friendly feeling atmosphere. We played white tees joined by Gk'er Steve. Fairways are like carpet the greens rolled well hardly a ball mark to be found.
A bit tight through the forest and resort rentals. At 6000+yards felt like moving up to a shorter tee box would have been better for our 20ish indexes. POP at our own and just a beautiful relaxing round of golf.

I know it's off the beaten track but if in the area its a thumbs up Recommend.

Played in a Senior tournament 9/22/20 mid morning sunny skies breezy. Good to have the recent smoke from wildfires out of area and enjoy first day of Autumn.
Course is still like the past two reviews overall. Tee boxes (whites) level need to grow in grass sparse on many. Many areas of the course in need of attention some fairways thin with brown areas others plush and tight lies. Rough deep in most areas. Bunkers not being maintained due to Covid we played as lift clean and place per rule. Otherwise played ball down and did not get many lies I didn't deserve.
The design is the courses attraction and the green complexes are terrific. Rolled good and smooth aeriation coming soon. Challenging holes that go through the valley with homes surrounding course but not close enough for me to bounce a ball off any.
Customer service great and pandemic protocols in full effect. First time paired with a new friend (stranger) in a cart with a plastic barrier between us hung by bungee cord. Worked good. He wore a mask all day I put mine on and off as a courtesy first few holes. Only awkward in spots where for POP purposes I walked to my ball and he drove cart to green for example.
Idk enough about that. County rules followed if that gets course open I'm ok with it.
A Troon managed course that is not like higher end Troon facilities course condition wise, but is in staffing and service. A course to play when in the area not a destination like Yocha Dehe nearby. At the right value it's a recommend.

Played early 9/20/20. Interesting 18 hole executive course (par 58) at just below 7000 ft elevation North of Lake Tahoe. Course winds through a neighborhood of homes sometimes on the sides of holes. Very hilly with some forced carries and most with at least one place you'll most likely lose your orb hitting it there.
Tees a little scruffy with some top dressed. Greens rolled well not perfect but playable in the medium to fast range consistent and similar through the 18. Fairways good on the four par fours. Spots a little wet from watering.
Overall a good quick paced round on a good layout with good service. The clubhouse has been rebuilt and remodeled since a fire last year. Snack service doesn't open until 10 so early players plan accordingly.
Our playing partners were first timers and didn't know the course was mostly par 3's until after playing the short par 4 first and three par 3's in a row.
Witnessed my friend Todd's first career hole-in-one on the 10th hole (186 yds) That made the round memorable as the last time we played it in 2017 eclipse.

Out early under smoky skies and a few ash flakes from Frenso area fire. The sun took some time to break through (couple hours) staying red for the front 9. Since this is my 6th review of this venue in a row I will be brief.
The course was very watered and too much in a few areas but with the hot dry summer that was ok. The course seemed greener than usual with the smoky cloud cover and my maui jims.
Played with a first timer and a third time playing the course fourth. Enjoyed their perspectives and distance off the white tees. Pack of 6 coyotes spotted on 4th hole. Looked to be three generations, and 5 deer teeing off on the same hole.
Greens have quickened since last round and have spots of brown from ball marks and more than necessary unrepaired. But rolled well damp at first to dry the last 6 holes.
Not hard to recommend and staying with that. Staff is friendly and 5 star.
