This course should not be open right now. It is in terrible shape and unplayable in many areas.

One month after aeration and the greens are still horrible. Fairways are also very thin. Tee boxes aren't much better. The locals here are baffled at why this superintendent just cant seem to keep this place up. Seem's like he's in over his head. This is my 40th playing here at my home course and they desperately need to do something about this position. We have never seen a super struggle so much for so long.

One of the best layouts in Los Angeles but in poor condition. POP was good at 7am on a Friday but the conditions all around are poor. Tee areas are uneven, fairways are bad and so are the greens. Rolling about 7 and bumpy. Couldn't help noticing the locals I was playing with disrespecting their own course and not repairing ball marks or divots. Pretty sad to see this at one of my past favorites. If I were LA I would keep a look out for these kind of players and ban them.

Played 6/8 and the course is much better on the playing areas after watered. Greens are pretty good and fairways are much better. Lets hope they keep it this way for awhile.

Concerning both South and North courses. I play here a lot because it's cheap for locals. This review is for the tourist because the locals already know what's up here now. 2 years ago we changed greens keepers. Both courses started slipping condition wise. The greens keeper claims he is removing the rye grass and trying to speed up and firm up both courses. The result has been dead grass and big bare dirt spots everywhere. He made this claim to me over a year ago and the conditions are still there. Greens are hit and miss daily. Some days they are great and some days they are lousy. I have 3 PGA tour pros for clients. All 3 said last years Farmers open was as bad as they've seen these courses. Although the place was drenched with water to cover up the bare areas before the tournament, the ball sank to the bottom in the rough and was unplayable (but looked good). If you are a tourist you will pay $239.00 to walk the south and $180.00 to walk the North. This is an honest review. This is how the courses are now and will probably be for at least 2 more years. This is my 32nd year playing here at my home course. Personally, I'm completely bummed but it is what it is and it should be known before a person travels here specifically to play these courses.

Played in late March and the course was in real good condition. I feel sorry for anyone coming to Monterey and missing this place. This is one of the best courses in MOnterey. You miss this place when yer here and you blew it. The new layout is awesome.

Played late march. Course was in decent condition and no complaints about the course. One problem we did have is paying for a guaranteed finish time and we finished in the dark. Really pissed about that. This was my 9th time and it was still worth it as I got my 10 yr old g-daughter on video on the famous 7th green.

Course is in decent condition but play is SLOW. They have jacked up the greens at this course so much with the renovation people take forever putting. Pace of play is nearly always 5 hours plus UNLESS you get off at 7am or earlier. Fairways are a lot firmer than they used to be and so are the greens. Takes a great shot to hold the greens. My advice, get a real early tee time or wait on every shot you hit all day long.

Course is in better condition but soaked. You will play in 5-6 hours and will be on cart paths only. You will see golfers looking for balls in the rough all day long. Good luck.

Played 11-17. Not quite back yet from maintenance but worthy. Probably one of the best designs within 50 miles. Most of the time this place is in real good condition even around well played areas. They must have a great maintenance team. Like a golf calendar on every hole. Beautiful curse.

Played here as usual yesterday. Place is being prepared for The Farmers Open. Greens are a little bumpy and there still bare spots everywhere, especially in front and around almost every green. I truly feel sorry for the people paying tourist rates of 230 bucks for this place. This place has slid in the past few years. It's a great course but has poor maintenance. Bunkers are a little better than in the past though. Unless people put the pressure on the kid in charge of maintenance nothing will change.
