so for the last month I have been playing here on the weekends after 5pm and the fee with a cart is under 30.00 and wkds is under 25.00. the course is in really great shape and with the hotter weather in San Jose where I work, coming home to light fog or temps in the 70's and playing a round in just over 3hrs is great. the staff there is always top notch while the snack shack and cart girl don't stay that late you can still get stuff from the bar. the bar is huge as they cater to weddings and events there all the time. the pro shop is well stocked and even has really good rental cobras to play if you didn't bring clubs. the course winds in and out of the local houses there and has some big elevation changes so walking is possible but the back 9 is for billy goats...lol the fairways are lined with huge eucalyptus and redwood and pine trees. there's no water on the front and a small pond on the back. thats not to say there aren't enough other hazards out there to get you. its a great course and I'm not sure why it doesn't seem to get more attention as to how good it is. but that's OK with me. there 2 putting areas and a small driving range too. so if the heat is too much to bear in the bay area give this track a chance to show you a good time, Enjoy....

WOW... there's a reason this course is rated one of the best courses to play in northern ca. its a RTJ design and it shows. I found all the holes interesting and the club house and staff are just as good. the driving range is great to start your round off with, and club house has awsome food. I played here in the heat, really hot, like 104* and the course showed no signs of drying out. the green here are FIRM... like one poster said, "The term "ball mark" is replaced by "minor dent" on these greens...sometimes it's hard to find where you came down." this is the only thing I had to come to terms with. and did I mention they were FAST, there fast, really fast. the layout through the houses is scenic and OK as I got the feeling sometimes I was in there backyard teeing off...lol but for the most part you will find it a great track. the locals who live up there are super friendly and love there course, and it shows as they always replace divots and marks. if your up in the gold country and want a fine course to challenge your game, this is it...
the carts have GPS on them and for 1st timers you'll find that its a great help to see where to go, as some holes laying up is a must. I can't wait to go back and play there again in better temps....

- I got to play here back to back days this weekend. I played after 5 which is 28.00 w/cart. the course was empty and I was able to finish no problem. this track is in and out of houses along most holes. while the fairways are generous if your OB its usually in someones backyard and you shouldn't go looking for it. the course had lots of elevation changes and lined with huge eucalyptus trees. the greens showed some play on them which I expected as I was the last one on the course. the sand traps are great and will test your game. a lot of holes play longer than they seem for some reason, maybe due to the fact that the use valleys and elevated greens to change your view of them. for the twilight rate and Internet specials this is a real bargain. the club house has great food and drinks there's a 2 putting greens and a small driving range too for warming up. if you want to beat the heat in the afternoons this is the place for sure. the course marshall was great too, he stopped and talked with me on many holes and one point I thought we should just play together...lol, a great course on the coast to play if you get a chance.

played here again on a weekday. the pace was great, and the course overall with all the heat we have had is really good. the greens were smooth and good too. I got there early this time and got to use the driving range and practice area which is nice. I still say this course is a lot of fun to play and has a few interesting hole for sure. again course mgmt is golden on certain holes as you do not need to drive the ball far. so play smart and you'll have fun for sure...

played last thurday 26th,
the course has no coots, but the geese are thick, and the greens show it. while were on the greens too, they were horrible and bumpy. they were soft which was OK, but they were to soft. footprints and bumps everywhere. made putting a nightmare. this was the 1st time I have played here without the wind and it was just hot this time. the course plays a bit different without it too. as it was hot, I rented a cart, and there were 3 in our group. I was last man out and they charge you full rate for a cart 25.00... ouch. for locals they get a better rate and the twilight is good even if you don't live there. if it wasn't for the greens and geese I think this course could be a lot better. OH, on 18 when your walking to your tee shot. if its center or left side, beware. the driving range is there and there's no fence and we had 2 balls all most hit us, and there isn't any FORE, cause they don't know your there. the mgmt really needs to put up a large net to stop this or someone is going to get hit seriously. that it for this time....

thur 12th I played here in the afternoon, and the coots are gone...
there are a few geese still but the big coot population is gone...lol the course is in really good shape and I would have had more fun if the wind had not been blowing so hard. when the bay wind blows it makes this course play a lot harder. the staff here is great and gal in pro shop is super nice. the practice area is even better too. although the driving range hits into the pm sun and is hard to see your ball at times. the food and restaurant is great too. and the local rate and twilight rate is really good too. I heard they want to fill in the lakes on the course to stop the coots and birds. i think this is a bad ideal, just let dogs loose and scare them, they will learn. but overall this city muni course is a good one and if the wind isn't blowing its awsome.

sat, 14th and I had read a few reviews about this course being slow and not worth it, with a few other bad things... well I have to say to start with the pace of play was awsome, 4.25hrs with a stop at 9... the pro shop staff of keith/scott were great too, gave a few tips about the course and even took care of us as one of our players was late. the course overall was super, the greens were med fast and no divot marks... this course if you haven't played it requires a bit of local knowledge for about 5 holes as you can do better if you know. but if not the card shows pics for that.
I have to say the morning was quite and nice and the range is great too, but by the turn it was really busy. they have a nice par 3 course too. now for the clubhouse, the food I had and saw was really well priced and big portions. I had a turkey/cheese for 4.25 and it included potato salad too, nice... I have to say this course is allot of fun and has some really interesting holes and given the condition of the greens and pace of play, it was great...
the twilight is the best deal I think, as I was leaving there seemed to be no one on 1st couple of fairways...
ps, the only reason I gave it 3 stars for worth the fee, is that there are other courses around that are just a bit cheaper than here for weekend play.

played here on friday 6th and the course was once again in really great shape. the greens were really good too. the traps were good with some heavy sand in places but stay out of them... the fairways look good too. the pace of play for a Friday were sometimes slow but overall we still got all 18 in and we started at 4:30pm. if you have never played here there are spots you have to walk a long way between tee boxes, like 3-400yds, you have to cross a large creek to get there 4 times. a push or pull cart makes this easier, but a cart will allow you to relax a bit more. the course has a practice range for warming up and 2 greens for putting. the clubhouse is really nice and well priced. the pro shop staff is very helpful too. this course has only 2 par 4's and the rest are par 5's and 3's. as the name implies it has water. there are lots of water crossing and lakes that run along the fairways or are in front of the greens. this course is plenty challenging and the par is 68 and is about 5300yds long. if its windy in the afternoon this course will challenge the best golfer out there...
the twilight on weekdays is the best round for the buck at 23.00.

I just want to thank everyone who has posted a golf review as of lately. the reviews have been very informative and have been better better than some of the one line reviews from the past or others areas get... people do read these post and your thoughts about the course, staff, clubhouse and such are helpful too.
I know there's many of you who never post on the forums and because of that I just wanted to say to you, THANK YOU.......

I played this course on a Sunday am and the pace of play was great. the course overall demands some course knowledge and definitely some course mgmt. there are lots of huge trees there that can block your approaches to the greens as well as any shots you thought you might have. there were a few holes where a 3w was much better to lie up with, than blow out the fairway or go to far. some of the greens are crowned and they were firm the day I was there, so it was better to adjust and let the ball roll a bit. while they were firm they were really fast too... I mean really fast. then the last thing is the sand traps. there are a number of greens that have 3 or 4 really deep or high faced traps. while the sand it great, plugging a ball on the face if your short is something you will not soon forget...lol overall the course is fun and has lots of challenges. its not the most scenic or best place as its right next to a freeway and the noise is sometimes heard.
the pro shop is small with a few items and the bar has a really great biscuits and gravy if your hungry. they have a driving range which is a dirt field, you get to hit off good grass, but the balls are out of the lakes and don't fly real far. but at least its an area to hit off the ground and not a mat. I would play this course again as it had challenges that I want to beat next time.

played the course again today on Friday and while it was packed and seemed like it was slow, we finished in just under 4.5hrs. the greens today were great. and some were really fast. they hold long shots just fine now and putt great as the sand is all gone now. the valley was windy again and this course had only a slight breeze and was perfect for play. the overall course is in great shape right now and is worth the afternoon rate for sure... if you play here course mgmt will reward you every time. cause the rough and off the fairways will only add #s to your score, play smart and you will have a great day. course food is always a bit high and if I give can give you one tip, bring your own food. the price of some of it was a bit high I thought, like 4.50 for a dog...
but on the up side is the clubhouse is HUGE and with 3 TV's on golf you can relax and chat and see some golf too... once again the course played very well and sand is in perfect cond. I know cause from the 2 times I tested it today it was great....lol

called the pro shop, 2:30 on a Fri, Terry the starter said is wide open...
got there before 3 and this course got a huge face lift 7yrs ago... and the layout is basically the same, but has better rough now and greens. there's a great practice area and driving range there, with 2 huge putting areas. the club house is huge with banquets up to 200+. The course was in awsome condition and the greens were fast and still a touch firm as they were sanded 3wks ago. as I played the course, I just couldn't help remembering what it use to look like and how its change for the better. the pace of play was really fast, just over 3hrs, and while the valley was windy as hell, this course had but a breeze. the twilight rate was really great too, like 26.00 and only 23.00 after 5pm up there. here's another thing that was just awsome, its in a little valley up there, and there's a park on 2 sides and horse ranch on the other side, ITS QUITE.... no city noise, just wild turkeys gobbling....
the course is fairly wide open and had a good challenge for your game, as it not only lets you rip it, but pays to have good course mgmt too. overall I give this course 4 out of 5 stars. its not pebble, but its a great place to play golf and enjoy the hills, peace and quite...
