Enjoyed an excellent GK / GM Outing at the Bear. Jack really outdid himself with this one!

I can best describe Bear Creek GC as a fun Players Course. BCGC is a mature very well-designed course that places premium on accuracy off the tee and into greens. The course features a clear definition between its mid-sized fairways and greens, and rough areas; there is well placed bunkering on all fairways and proximate to greens, along with some strategic trees and water hazards, all being punitive to wayward golf shots, but still a treat for the eyes.

The course is generally flat but does offer elevation changes from tee to fairway and green, on many holes, along with some great views of localized mountains and housing. The course plays like a true Championship Style layout. If you miss your mark, you will be punished by Jack’s design. The course played its yardage for the most part, and I emphasize this is a Ball Striker’s Delight, without being a target layout in any way.

The course was very well manicured and in above-average condition. The course layout is rated a 5 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.5 out of 5. I note the following:

Tee Boxes: Level and lush, no damage. Above average condition.

Fairways: Green at times tight. Above average condition.

Greens: Green, medium-fast in speed, with medium softness. Noted a bit longer and slower than in the past. Speed at about a 10.5. No damage observed. Excellent condition.

Sand: Well maintained and medium to soft in texture. Above average condition.

Rough: Well defined from the fairway and green collars but not too overgrown, about 2 – 4 inches. Very grabby at times. Above average condition.

Waste Areas: Observed on various holes and did not offer much opportunity of recovery due to the overgrown nature. Above average.

Driving Range: The range is excellent, hitting off mats or a tight grass surface. Situated on a flat section of the facility and hitting into a grassland with green markers at 100, 150, 200, 225, and 250 yards. Range ran out at about 275ish. Range balls were your typical ranger, generally in good condition

Practice Putting Green: Ample and very well maintained. Surface speed was consistent with the the course greens.

Chipping Green: Also ample and very well maintained. Several pins noted to work on the short-game, along with sand bunkering.

POP: 4.75 hours – No wait was encountered on any hole. We were slowed down a bit due to the cart path only rule requirement of the day, which did not bother me.

This track truly is a masterpiece. Its layout is spectacular, and the use of the topography and land could not be better. If looking to join a quality golf club with the emphasis on Player’s Type Golf Course, this is a great one to be a part of.

Really enjoyed this course and certainly wish I could play it more often. If I lived closer, this would be a club I would consider joining. I fully endorse playing this track when given the opportunity. Very much looking forward to my next visit here.

Thank you Johnny, and GK for this outing!

San Vicente Golf Resort is a mature parkland style course that was recently renovated to achieve greater playing potential. This newly renovated golf course utilizes excellent creativity throughout its topography to provide a top-level playing surface, while providing gorgeous views of the natural terrain and stunning surrounding mountains.

This golf course was previously a Ted Robinson-designed golf course with renovations overseen by Andy Staples. The course is nestled in the backcountry of Ramona, and its characteristic challenge is a competitive 18 holes with a par 72, and yardages measuring from 4,483 to 6,822 in length.

SVGR features large mature trees, strategic bunkering throughout, along with occasional water hazards. The course is primarily flat with some limited elevation changes from time to time. The course is surrounded by beautiful nature, and limited single-family dwellings.

SVGR places premium on accuracy off the tee and into greens. The course defends itself with well positioned bunkers, medium length rough, and medium speed sloped greens. There were a few doglegs, but no blind shots that I could recall. For the most part, the course played in a forthcoming manner, that required some limited shot shaping off the tee. The course played its yardage, fairways offered some roll out on drives and approaches. The course was very well maintained and in above average condition. The course layout is rated a 4.33 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.25 out of 5. I note the following:

Tee Boxes: Level and green, no damage. Conditions above average.

Fairways: Generally green, lush, and defined from rough. Conditions above average.

Greens: Green, medium in speed, and on the firmer side. Speed about a 10. Conditions above average.

Sand: maintained and at times heavy, and consistent throughout the course. Conditions above average.

Rough: maintained and defined, about 3 – 4 inches. Conditions above average.

Waste Areas: noted on a handful of holes and well maintained with overgrown nature that offered little to no recovery potential. Conditions above average.

Driving Range: The range was average and adequate for a pre-round warm up session. Hitting off mats with some range balls showing high mileage. Range descends into a patched-grassed valley with various markers from 100 - 235 yards.

Practice Putting Green: large in size and in excellent condition. Speed was consistent with course.

POP: 4.25 hours – no wait was encountered on any hole.

Other: Bar, restaurant, and the golf shop, were all very nice, and are certainly recommended. The service received at all was excellent.

Really enjoyed this course and I strongly endorse playing SVGR. This course offers a fair test of golf for any level of golfer, that comes with a great surrounding environment, top tier customer service, and delicious food / drinks before and / or after the round. I believe this is a great place to visit and I will again be playing at SVGR when given the opportunity.

Enjoyed an excellent GK / GM Outing at WRGC with excellent playing partner Gary.

I can best describe WRGC as a fun Players Course. WRGC is a very well-designed course that places premium on accuracy off the tee and into greens. The course features clear definition between its mid-sized fairways and rough areas, well placed bunkering on fairways and proximate to greens, along with strategic water hazards, and fast greens.

The course is primarily flat except for 7, 8, 16, and 17 which do offer elevation changes from tee to green, along with some attractive views of localized housing and orchards. The course plays like a Championship Style layout. Wind speeds were calm, peaking at 10 -15 mph when gusting. The course seemed to play it's yardage for the most part. The course was well manicured and in above-average condition overall. The course layout is rated a 5 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.5 out of 5. I note the following:

Tee Boxes: Level and lush, no damage. Sometimes the grass may have been a bit longer, no more than ½” an inch too long. No effect in this regard. Above average condition.

Fairways: Green at times tight. Above average condition.

Greens: Green, fast in speed, with medium softness. No damage observed. Speed about an 11. Excellent condition.

Sand: Well maintained and firm. Above average condition.

Rough: rough was well defined from the fairway and green collars but not too overgrown, about 2 – 4 inches. Very grabby at times. Above average condition.

Waste Areas: - Waste areas on various holes did not offer the opportunity of recovery due to their overgrown nature. Above average.

Driving Range: The range is excellent but hitting from mats. You are on an elevated perch hitting into a grass valley with green markers at 100, 150, 200, 225, and 250 yards. Range ran out at about 300ish. Range balls were your typical yellow rangers, but in good condition.

Practice Putting Greens: Both practice putting greens are ample and very well maintained. They seemed consistent with the speed of the course greens.

POP: 4.25 hours – no wait was encountered on any hole.

The WRGC facility included a bar / restaurant for members, snack bar at the turn, and a very nicely stocked pro shop. Service received was excellent. If looking to join a quality golf club with the emphasis on golf this is a really good one.

Really enjoyed this course and certainly wish I could play it more often. If I lived a bit closer, this would be my club due to how much I enjoy the track. Had the pleasure of playing at BHGC with Johnny, Ron, and Wendy. An incredible Sunday with solid golfers and excellent playing partners! As always, BHGC was an excellent golf experience! It is Real Vegas Golf, Baby!

Upon arrival to the moment I departed, I received excellent service. Upon arriving I was greeted, and my bag was taken by bag drop. At the snack bar and pro shop, the service was also warm, receiving, and outstanding overall. The snack bar had good golf course typical food items, and drinks for days, a bit on the pricey side. The pro shop was very well stocked with merchandise and very nicely kept.

This was a very fun golf course that required better than average shot execution. I played from the Bali Tees with wind speeds between 5 - 15 mph. I felt the course played it yardage for the most part despite the limited wind conditions.

The course was well manicured and in very good condition overall. The course layout is rated a 5 out of 5 (great use of the available land), conditions are rated a 4.5 out of 5. I note the following:

Tee Boxes: Level and lush, no damage. Excellent condition.

Fairways: Green at times tight, no damage. Excellent condition.

Greens: Green, fast, no damage (11 in speed). Excellent condition.

Sand: Well maintained and firm (appeared like new sand was recently brought in to refill bunkers)

Rough and Waste Areas: Rough not very penal (1 - 3 inches) - Waste areas were large with hard sand, rock, and various types of plant life. Well maintained and attractive to see, but not fun to hit from.

Driving Range: Hitting into a 20 yard net off a turf surface. It worked for warm up, but a driving range would have been nice. It was nice for what it was, but certainly not a highlight if you enjoy the pre-round driving range experience.

POP: 4.5 hours

The course is a flat hybrid desert / tropical style track that has been enhanced with creativity and theme to make it a golf oasis along the South Strip of LV. Despite being generally flat, there were plenty of fairway undulations, and tee box and green elevation changes. Most holes have great views of the surrounding strip, which add a bit of nostalgia to the golf experience. The course itself is certainly eye candy to the golfer's eye due to its well-presented layout.

If playing here, you will need to hit fairways to keep your score reasonable. Premium is placed on hitting a good tee ball, to have a shot at the green. On most holes, if you miss the fairway, you will likely not have a shot at the green. Fairways are not too tight. Greens were usually medium in size and medium to firm to all shots. Both greens and fairways were strategically bunkered for protection, with greens often crowning to the terrain. There were also a few lakes / water hazards that keep you in-check on some holes, they were certainly attractive hazards.

The practice putting, and chipping green was great, as was the scene and vibe of the golf course, per the usual. We started on time and noticed 1 Marshall on the course during our round. Certainly, a must play golf course if in LV. I will absolutely play next time I visit LV.

Thank you, Johnny and GreensKeeper.org for this Awesome Outing!

Had the treat of playing at CGCC with Johnny, Ron, and Greg. A Most Excellente Monday with solid golfers and excellent playing partners!

CGCC is a parkland style golf course that features mature trees, strategic bunkering throughout, fairway mounding and moguls, along with water hazards that are traditional of Ted Robinson Design golf courses. In many ways this course reminded me of Marriot Desert Springs – Palm Course in Palm Desert, CA.

The course is primarily flat but does offer fairway undulations throughout, which keep you in-check. The course is surrounded by various dwellings, which appeared to be for high quality living. The course is certainly walkable.

The course primarily defends itself with well positioned bunkers and beautiful water hazards, medium to fast sloped greens, and funneling wind conditions. The course was always fair and played in a “what you see, is what you get” manner. The course played its yardage, fairways offered moderate roll out on drives and greens held approach shots well. The course was very well maintained and in very nice condition. The course layout is rated a 4.25 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.5 out of 5. I note the following:

Tee Boxes: Level and green, no damage. Conditions above average.

Fairways: Generally green, lush, and defined from rough. Condition above average.

Greens: Green, medium-fast in speed, with medium firmness. Speed about a 10. Condition above average.

Sand: maintained and soft. Condition above average.

Rough: maintained and defined, about 2 – 3 inches. Condition above average.

Waste Areas: - Waste areas were noted on a handful of holes and were maintained with overgrown nature that offered little to no recovery potential. Condition above average.

Driving Range: The range was very nice, hitting off an artificial turf surface. Range is flat with various markers from 100 - 250 yards. Range balls were decent Callaway range golf balls. I also noted a very nice chipping area and practice bunker.

Practice Putting Green: Large and in excellent condition. Speed was consistent with course.

POP: 4.5 hours – no wait was encountered on any hole.

Other: Beverage cart visited our group three times during our round. The golf shop was top tier.

Really enjoyed this course and I strongly endorse playing CGCC if given the opportunity. This course is a fair test of golf that comes with a great surrounding environment, beautiful water features, that are situated on a very nice track. I note the members here are spoiled by this well-kept wonderful golf course! I will play again if given the opportunity.

Brief Course History:

Founded in 1921, The Saticoy Club was the first private club in Ventura County. The golf course was designed by William F. Bell and offers a spectacular, classic 18-hole Championship Golf Course. The course is quietly nestled in the hillsides of Somis, California. The club has hosted many U.S.G.A. Championship Qualifiers and SCGA Amateur Championships.

Playing Experience:

Had the pleasure of playing The Saticoy Club with Johnny, Ron, and Mark. A real Treat of a Thursday with solid golfers and excellent playing partners!

As for the course, The Saticoy Club is an incredibly designed Championship course that offers a wide array of golf holes that are always interesting and challenging. The course is built onto a scenic mountainside that runs proximate to several Avocado and Citrus orchards, and features views of localized mountains, and all the way to the Pacific Ocean. This classic beauty features large mature trees, strategic bunkering throughout, several elevation changes, along with occasional water hazards. In some ways it reminds me of Pasatiempo GC which is an AM Design.

The Saticoy Club places premium on accuracy off the tee into mid-sized fairways, and into small to mid-sized greens from the fairway or on par 3s. The course defends itself with well positioned bunkers, medium length rough, fast sloped greens, and funneling wind conditions. There were a few doglegs, but no blind shots. The course was always a fair challenge but required the execution of quality shots at all times, as being offline here introduced difficulty to achieve recovery, as any real championship course should. The course played its yardage, and fairways offered limited roll out on drives and approaches.

The course is very well maintained and in overall excellent condition. The course layout is rated a 5 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.9 out of 5. I note the following:

Tee Boxes: Generally level, and always green, no damage. Conditions above average.

Fairways: Green, lush, and defined from rough. Grabby with limited rollout. Conditions excellent.

Greens: Green, fast in speed, on the medium to firm side, and very tricky to read at times. These Greens are a true test. Speed about an 11. Conditions excellent.

Sand: Maintained with excellent consistency. Conditions excellent.

Rough: Maintained and defined, about 3 – 4 inches. Conditions excellent.

Waste Areas: Noted on a handful of holes, and such were maintained with overgrown nature that offered little to no recovery potential. Conditions excellent.

Driving Range: The range was scenic, hitting off an artificial turf surface. The range places you on a mountain top hitting into a valley with various greens and markers that are situated in an area that is fully grassed, with markers from 100 - 225 yards. Range balls were quality Callaway golf balls.

Practice Area: I noted a very nice chipping area on a lower tier away from the driving range. Conditions excellent. Did not use.

Practice Putting Greens: Two mid-size practice putting greens were noted, both in excellent condition. Speed of the practice putting greens were consistent with course.

POP: 4.5 hours – no wait was encountered on any hole. We paced ourselves accordingly.

Other: Noted a beautiful clubhouse, restaurant, and golf shop, all were top tier.

Conclusion:

I don’t have enough positive things to say about this incredible course, it is a True Golf Experience. There are very few courses I can think of as far as layout, conditions, and environment that would be better. I strongly endorse The Saticoy Club and will never miss the opportunity to play here when it is offered. If I lived within 15 miles of this course, I would become a member, it is Golfer’s Dream! This course has lived up to every expectation, and I now list it in my All-Time Top 10.

Thank you Johnny and GreensKeeper.org for this GK Outing!

Those participating in the upcoming GK / GM Outing will be in for a very special and memorable day.

P.S. Bring your golf game!

Had the pleasure of playing at LC Legends with The Amazing Johnny, Awesome Phil, and Gary the Great. What a Treat of a Tuesday with solid golfers and excellent playing partners!

As for the course, LC Legends is a mature parkland style course that features large mature trees, strategic bunkering throughout, along with occasional water hazards. The course is primarily flat with some limited undulations on the front nine. The course also features a slender wash that comes into play on at least 6 holes. The course is surrounded by various condos and / or single-family dwellings, which appeared to be for quality living. The course is certainly walkable, but there is often a long way to commute from green to tee box, notably on the front nine.

LC Legends places premium on accuracy off the tee and into greens. The course primarily defends itself with well positioned bunkers, medium length rough, medium-fast sloped greens, and funneling wind conditions. There were a few doglegs, but no blind shots that I could recall. For the most part, the course was always fair and played in a “what you see, is what you get” manner. The course played its yardage, fairways offered little roll out on drives and approaches. The course was very well maintained and in above average condition. The course layout is rated a 4.25 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.33 out of 5. I note the following:

Tee Boxes: Level and green, no damage. Conditions above average.
Fairways: Generally green, lush, and defined from rough. Grabby with limited rollout. Condition above average.
Greens: Green, medium-fast in speed, and on the firmer side. Speed about a 10 – 10.5. Condition above average.
Sand: maintained, but not always consistent from bunker to bunker, as some bunker sand was soft and other was gritty and hard packed. Condition average.
Rough: maintained and defined, about 3 – 4 inches. Condition above average.
Waste Areas: - Waste areas were noted on a handful of holes and were maintained with overgrown nature that offered little to no recovery potential. Condition above average.
Driving Range: The range was very nice, hitting off an artificial turf surface. Range is flat, fully grassed, with various markers from 100 - 250 yards. Range balls were quality Callaway golf balls. I also noted a very nice chipping area and practice bunker.
Practice Putting Green: Not too large, but in excellent condition. Speed was consistent with course.
POP: 4.25 hours – no wait was encountered on any hole.
Other: Beverage cart visited our group four times during our round, always with a smile. Bars, restaurant, and the golf shop, all were all top tier. As were resort amenities and its landscaping.

Really enjoyed this course and I strongly endorse playing LC Legends. If in the area and looking for a fair test of golf that comes with a great surrounding environment, top tier customer service, and delicious food after the round, I believe this is a great place to visit. I will again be playing at LC when given the opportunity.

Really enjoyed Half Moon Bay Golf Links with a Thu. morning tee time. We played it from the tips and wind speeds were about 10 - 15 mph with limited fog...

What a great golf ecperience! WOW!

The course was in very good condition and very green. The course layout is rated a 5 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.5 out of 5.

I note the following:

Tee Boxes: Level and lush, no damage
Fairways: Green and at times tight, no damage
Greens: Green, firm, very fast, no damage
Sand: Well maintained, both soft and hard
Rough and Waste Areas: Tall rough - waste areas are very penal on stray shots
Driving Range: No driving range on premises. Nice chipping area and practice putting greens. Warmed up at Oceanview Diving Range 1 mile away. Recommended.
POP: 4.5 hours - waited briefly on 4 holes

The course is an ocean links style track with several holes running along the Pacific Ocean cliff line, remaining holes are inland with most offering beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean; local forestry, or Ritz Carlton facilty. The course offers a some suttle elevation changes and a couple of blinds shots that keep things interesting. The layout is very scenic, challenging, but fair.

This course requires accuracy off the tee as you hit into mid to wide fairways that are lined with very heavy rough, bunkered, waste areas, trees, cliff sides, and / or the Pacific Ocean. Every tee shot is reasonably unique, with variant views.

Greens tend to be medium in size and run very fast (11 - 11.5), often breaking towards the ocean, and always held good shots.

Both greens and fairways were strategically bunkered for protection, with a lot of bunkering noted throughout the track. Course plays longer due to heavy marine layer, played shots 5-10 yards longer than normal yardage with good results.

Very nice pro shop and an excellent restaurant at this facility, along with the Ritz Carlton. Recommend eating at the facility, food was excellent. Service received was really good too.

We started on time and noticed 1 Marshall on the course. No slow play issues.

All in all, this is an amazing golf course that plays like a true championship links course. Views are unforgettable and the finishing 3 holes will leave you buzzing for a while. If you are ever in the Bay Area, and playing decent level golf, this is a must play.

5 Stars for Me! One of My Favorites!

Awesome T - Thursday at Encino... This is my preferred LA City System course and really enjoyed my round and the course itself. Encino is a mature championship style course that features many large mature trees that line fairways. The course is flat and great for walking. It's close to 7,000 yards from the tips, which challenges you to bring your long game.

Encino has reasonably wide fairways that are lined with rough and trees. Greens are large and were fairly soft. Bunkering on this course is primarily greenside. Despite its generosity, this course demands that you hit the fairway, or you will be blocked by 50+ foot tall trees and in 5 inch rough. Really love the give and take of this course.

The course plays about 5-10 yards longer on most shots due to the heavy SF Valley air, and due to the fact that the course is at baseline level proximate to the Sepulveda Basin. The course was in good condition for LA Muni standards. For my taste, the course layout is rated a 4.5 out of 5, conditions are rated a 3.25 out of 5. I note the following:

Tee Boxes: Mostly level and lush, limited divot damage. Grass a bit long at times.
Fairways: Green generally, very limited bare spots and divot damage.
Greens: Green, slow in speed, soft, and a bit long cut at times. Speed about a 9.
Sand: Maintained, medium-firm, and heavy.
Rough: Maintained, about 3 - 5 inches.
Driving Range: The range is off mats but very solid. The course also includes 2 nice chipping areas and a practice bunker.
Practice Putting Green: Reasonably large and in excellent condition. Speed was consistent with course.
POP: 4 hours – no wait was encountered on any hole. Thu. 8 AM
Other: restaurant and the golf shop are good to go if the services of either are needed.

Given the conditions recently encountered, I won't turn down playing Encino. Looking forward to my next outing here in the near future. Thank you Encino!

Got to play SGCC again, and was again impressed by its condition and maintenance. Another Classic Beauty in LA County!

SGCC is a mature championship style course that features large mature trees that line fairways and well placed bunkering. The course is completely flat and not very long, even from the tips, about 6500 yards. As with other reviewed LA private courses, the land use is maximized to accommodate the golf course. This course runs through localized housing, so if playing here stay in play, or you may cause property damage.

SGCC offers narrow fairways that are lined with rough and trees. Greens are generally small in size and firm. From tee to green this course calls for accuracy over distance. The course has tall grabbing rough and is well bunkered on fairways and along green sides. Mature trees can also block you out if you miss fairways. The course played it's yardage, fairways offered as little roll out as I have seen. The course was in excellent condition. The course layout is rated a 4.0 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.75 out of 5. I note the following:

Tee Boxes: Level and lush, no damage. Perfect.
Fairways: Green and lush. Almost perfect.
Greens: Green, fast in speed, and on the firmer side. Almost perfect. Speed about an 11.
Sand: Well maintained, soft, and heavy.
Rough: Well maintained and defined, about 3 - 5 inches.
Driving Range: The range was very nice, but short. Hitting off tight grass, but no driver or woods allowed if you hit over 250 yards.
Practice Putting Green: Not too large, but in excellent condition. Speed was consistent with course.
POP: 3.0 hours – no wait was encountered on any hole.
Other: locker rooms, bars, restaurant, and the golf shop, all were excellent, as expected.

Will certainly not pass up playing this close to immaculate conditioned track when given the opportunity. It is always in excellent shape, and a challenging yet fun test of golf.

Excellent day of golf at Oakmont CC.

Enjoyed a round of golf at OCC, and all I can say is; She is a Classic Beauty! OCC is a mature championship style course that features large mature trees that line fairways strategically. The course is primarily flat and includes a large wash that comes into play on at least 6 holes. This is certainly a walkable course for all.

Like most private courses in LA County, the land use is maximized to accommodate the golf course. OCC places premium on accuracy off the tee and into greens. The rough on this course will kill your score if you miss fairways and greens. You need to avoid it at all cost, or pray for good lies. This course puts real emphasis between its narrow to mid-sized fairways and rough. The course is also well bunkered on both fairways and along greens. Greens were fairly firm, always held good shots, and ran fast.

The course is primarily flat with the exception on holes 1 and 3 which had mild elevation changes. The course offers views of the Glendale Mountains and localized housing, which are both very attractive.

The course played it's yardage, fairways offered very little roll out on drives. The course was very well manicured and in excellent condition. The course layout is rated a 4.25 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.75 out of 5. I note the following:

Tee Boxes: Level and lush, no damage. Perfect.
Fairways: Green and lush. Almost perfect.
Greens: Green, fast in speed, and on the firmer side. Some of the best greens I've played, almost perfect. Speed about a 11 – 11.5.
Sand: Well maintained, soft, and heavy. Explosion approach needed.
Rough: rough was brutal by design. Very well maintained and defined, about 4 - 6 inches with bury effect.
Waste Areas: - Waste areas were noted on a handful of holes, and were well maintained overgrown nature with little to no recovery potential.
Driving Range: The range was also very nice, hitting off an artificial turf surface on this day. Range is flat, fully grassed, with various markers from 100 - 250 yards. Range balls were premium Callaway golf balls, very posh.
Practice Putting Green: Not too large, but in excellent condition. Speed was consistent with course.
POP: 3.5 hours – no wait was encountered on any hole.
Other: from locker rooms, bars, restaurant, and the golf shop, all were top tier.

I love playing here when given the opportunity, this course is always in excellent shape, and offers a formidable test of golf. It defines itself well as a Classic Players Course. If given the opportunity, don't miss out on playing OCC.

Enjoyed a Terrific-Tuesday of Golf with the GK Gurus at WRGC. I can best describe WRGC as a fun Players Course. Here’s my take:

WRGC is a very well-designed course that places premium on accuracy off the tee and into greens. This is not a golf course that can be negotiated with if you're too arrant with the golf ball. The course features clear definition between its mid-sized fairways and rough areas, well placed bunkering on fairways and proximate to greens, along with strategic water hazards, and fairly fast greens on this day, which I have seen faster in the past.

The course is primarily flat except for 7, 8, 16, and 17 which do offer elevation changes from tee to green, along with some attractive views of localized housing and grape orchards. The course lends itself towards a Championship Style layout, certainly a treat to play.

On this day wind speeds were calm, peaking at 10 -15 mph when gusting. The course seemed to play it's yardage for the most part. The course was well manicured and in above-average condition overall. The course layout is rated a 5 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.33 out of 5. I note the following:

Tee Boxes: Level and lush, no damage. Sometimes the grass may have been a bit longer, no more than ½” an inch too long. No effect in this regard.

Fairways: Green at times tight, some very limited areas were undergoing sod repair which appeared to be maintenance related.

Greens: Green, medium-fast in speed, and medium softness as all good shots checked and spun desirably. No damage observed. Speed about a 10 – 10.5.

Sand: Well maintained and firm. Rakes were present.

Rough: rough was well defined from the fairway and green collars but not too overgrown, about 2 – 4 inches. Didn’t experience the burying effect in the rough, fortunately.

Waste Areas: - Waste areas were abundant on various holes, and did not offer the opportunity of recovery from such due to their overgrown nature, not to mention the possible presence or rattlers.

Driving Range: The range is stunning, despite hitting from mats. You are on an elevated perch hitting into a grass valley with green markers at 100, 150, 200, 225, and 250 yards. Range ran out at about 300ish. Range balls were your typical yellow rangers, but in very good condition. Hitting from this range was a real treat, if you enjoy the pre-round or post-round experience of hitting golf balls.

Practice Putting Greens: Both practice putting greens are ample and very well maintained. They seemed faster than the course greens, and more like the speed I have encountered when I previously played here.

POP: 4.5 hours – no wait was encountered on any hole; it was simply our group’s own pace. I enjoyed the group's time, certainly.

The WRGC facility included a bar / restaurant for members, snack bar at the turn, and a very nicely stocked pro shop. Service received at these venues was excellent. I met the Membership Director – Janet, she was very professional, warm, and welcoming. If looking to join a quality golf club with the emphasis on golf this is a really good one, you should give Janet a call or email.

All in all, really enjoyed this course and certainly wish I could play it more often. If I lived a bit closer, this would be my club due to how much I enjoy the track and the strategy of playing it. It certainly suits a player's eye, with no holes that offer deficiency, granted some are created better than others, with most being better.

In conclusions, I certainly endorse playing this track if given the opportunity. Looking forward to my next visit here. Thank you GK for the outing.
