Played the Vineyard Sat at 8*30. Very much the same as my last review in Nov, except for the greens. Tee'd off on time. Check in easy & friendly.
This course is generally forgiving with larger greens. Some contour to them so keeps you on your toes. The last 4 holes are all over or around water with the signature 18th Island hole waiting with a blast of wind in your face! A great place to play, especially in Summer when the cool breeze is welcome.
Carts are basic, no GPS.
Tee boxes are pretty good. Good run out on the tightly cut Fairways. They are greening up after dormant winter, but they are never "Lush" here. Rough just a weedier version of the fairways at this time, not very penal at all.

The Greens were recently aerated (3/21-22 according to GK, Gracias!) They seem to have been punched with smaller holes & the Crew have done a good job in filling them in. Overall a bit bumpy & tough to stop a shot from distance on them. The Good is that they are in much better condition than I would have thought after only 10 days. I look forward to putting on them in a couple weeks. Good Job RR! Areas around the Greens are decent with a few hard pan lies & mostly tightly cut collars.

Bunkers could use some more sand, but that applies to most courses.

Overall a fun course that should be in great shape after the greens finish healing. I recommend.

Played Harding on Sat 3/12 in a Tourney. Tee time 9*10. POP was ok for a sat mid-morning at 4*30.

Some Tee boxes were a bit uneven & beat up, but not terrible.
Fairways winter thin, but consistent cover, lot's of runout.
Bunkers decent.
The Greens, WOW Fast! Balls rolled nicely, but don't be above the hole. Great shape. One exception was the 5th hole, a Par 3. Hole placement was on a slant & the ball couldn't stop near it. There were more 4 putts than anything else, some folks had to pick up after numerous putts up & 20' roll back off the green.
Collar areas are good. The rough was cut low, not penal unless you reached a mishmash of bunchy grass or weeds. Still, not bad.
Overall, the course is in really nice condition. I recommend if your able to get a Tee Time. (Aeration in about a month.)

I played Hansen Dam last Sat. The course is in good winter condition.

No issues with the tee boxes, some chewed up but always found a good spot.

The fairways were real nice, good coverage. Winter thin, good runout on drives.

Greens are in good condition. Slower than most would like, but it probably helps pace of play. Collar areas are mixed bag, some bare some good. Shaved back enables TX wedge from 10 yards or so if the wedge isn't working.

Bunkers are fine. Not CC deep soft sand, but consistent muni bunkers.

No drink carts here. Snack bar (can't call it a restaurant) no bar area, no TV's in the small indoor area. Has basics & ice cold schooners.

POP was almost 4.5 starting at 9:00am. Group in front got 2 holes behind by 7th, finally got moving after some heckling. Still slow. No Marshall here. Driving Range (Mats) & decent short game area.

I still really enjoy the Dam. Fun course, not killer tough & a bit easier to get on then most city courses.

I Recommend.

Played Tierra Rejada Wed 2/16, 9*20 time. Overall the course is in good condition.

Senior Rate $47 riding is good.

Check in easy, staff friendly. The tee boxes were a mixed bunch, Many were very narrow & not level. Why they have them 8' wide when they have ample room is unknown. Also grass was a couple inches deep on the tee's.

Fairways were pretty good, hard with great runout, but still good coverage.
Rough was mixed, some deeper & penal.

Greens are nicely contoured, really nice roll. Green & collar areas were cut short & FAST! Santa Ana's were quiet today but have made greens hard. Above the hole can be deadly.

Carts basic, no GPS but they have an app with GPS.
No drink cart that I saw today, but restaurant open. Very good grub & beer!

Played RR Vineyard on Friday 11/19, 9*40 Tee Time.

The course is in really good condition, much better than mid-summer.

Tee boxes are generous in size, always a decent place to tee it up.
The fairways are greener & in much better condition than mid-summer when they were so dry. Still good runout.
Rough is slightly higher cut of fairway fading off to mixed bag of grass/weeds. Decent enough.
Greens are the best they've been since Amer Golf took over. Seemed a bit faster & they rolled really well. No excuses for bad putting.
Collar areas cut low, no check on short shots. One can putt from yards off if the chips aren't working.
POP was a bit slow, 4 hrs 40 minutes.

Drink/Snack cart available a few times. Lunch & beers in Grill afterward very good & reasonably priced.

Played the Dam on Sat 11/6. I've probably played it more than any course, so it's not new to me. For those that haven't played, it is an LA City course in Pacoima. Gets less play than the Encino courses. I think it's a good test of Golf & a fun course.

Some Tee boxes had been punched & fertilized, not a problem finding a good spot, more visual.
Fairways are very good, didn't see bare spots. I think recent cooler weather & rain has helped.
Rough is usual Muni mix of slightly higher fairway grass giving way to grass/weeds mix.
Greens were great, med speed. They are large greens, so lots of room for imperfect shots.
Like most courses there are more ball marks than there should be...
Collar areas were mowed down, & in good condition allowing my shanking partner to putt from 10 yards off at times.
Greenside Bunkers are mostly fair with just a bit of softsand on top of hard stuff. Fairway bunkers looked harder.

Overall really nice condition for a muni!!

POP was slow, it could have been because of a brutal low morning fog. So bad that one couldn't see more than about 70 yards at 8*30 tee off. Fog lifted shortly after, but pace was killed. 4:40.

I would like to support the Restaurant, but it's little more than a snack shop. I believe it opens at 8 or 8*30 so early birds bring your own Java. Most of it is closed off. No bar area anymore, no TV's . We wanted to have a couple beers & lunch, but watching football wasn't an option, so we went elsewhere.

Customer Service was fine, Shark Experience GPS & Bluetooth speakers in carts.

I'll be back.

Played RR Victoria on Sat 10/30, tee off 10am. Very cool day. POP was around 4:20, good for that time on a Sat. The course is in overall good condition & I recommend it.

The Tee boxes were good enough, always found a flat spot. Fairways were mostly good with some areas a bit thin, but not a big problem. Rough the usual mix of thicker fairway grass & weeds, leaves ect. Not very penal. Greens were very nice, healed from aeration. Med speed, looked a bit thick/hairy, but still not slow. Bunkers kinda typical muni, hard underneath a thin layer of sand.

Carts don't have GPS. Didn't see cart girl but the halfway house was open. Pretty much back to normal as far as Covid goes. Divot sand on carts, rakes around bunkers.

Love the layout & the weather is generally unbeatable. Good Customer Service.

I'll be back!

Played Riverwalk Wed 8/25. Walked out as a single, 11:00am & was paired with a volunteer Marshall, nice lady. later joined by another single.

POP was nice. Tee boxes are fine. Fairways are mostly good, although they were re-sodding parts of a few. Rough was mix of long grass & some bare areas. Typical muni in that respect. Greens were good, rolled well, med speed. Bunkers were mix of some really nice new looking sand & some harder packed dirt/sand.
Overall very playable for a decent rate (senior 60!) Lots of water keeps it interesting. I rode, but it is walkable. Now 18 holes, last time played a few years ago was 27 holes.

I recommend, it was fun.

Played Legends on Friday 8/21. Overall the conditions are great.

Tee boxes level & good turf.

Fairways; Plush, plush, plush! Sweet to play on.

Rough; is not killer penal unless way out, then could be really tough.

Bunkers; only blemish, are mostly hard with too little sand.

Greens; medium fast & beautiful. Held well hit irons. putted perfectly.
Collar areas also nice.

Customer service is great. La Costa is running things the way they should be.

Drink cart out & about. Resort has great food & drink.

I recommend this course. Lots of fun!

Played Thur 8/19. Aviara is one of my favorite courses. But it is in DISMAL condition.

Tee boxes area fine.

Fairways have numerous thin & bare areas, not what is expected on a 5* course.

Rough; Terrible. Dead grass, torn up dirt areas. Unacceptable, especially from this course.

Greens; Hit & miss. The good ones are fast, but many have a fungus causing bare spots. Some Greens have partial aeration. Areas around the Greens were dead too.

POP; was decent, 4:15. Drink Cart out & about.

Customer Service is still great. Restaurant is open, we had 1 beer & left for more reasonably priced eats.

The other 3 players with me are probably soured for good, too bad for what should be a great course. Can't recommend in this crappy condition at nearly $200 fee.

Played Tierra Rejada on Wed 7/21. Nice 55 & over discount $45.
The course is in great shape! Beautiful day for Golf, Tee time 8*20 as a 3some.

Carts, no GPS although they have an app you can use with the phone. I used my own.

Tee Boxes never an issue, good coverage, pretty level.

Fairways are really nice, low cut. Drives run well. Divot mix on carts.

Greens are med fast. Very few ball marks. Undulating & fun to play.

Bunkers are best I've seen recently. Good sand with rakes.

The rough longer & tougher in some areas. Good coverage through out.

The Bar & Grill was open & doing good biz. Good service through out the facility.

POP was just under 4 hours.

Some peeps just don't like the course, it is a bit billy goatish, especially front 9. That said I like it alot & highly recommend it. Wonderful condition!

Played Balboa 7/13, 8*00am Tee Time. LA City still using 10 min tee times, works out beautifully! Easy check in, got out on time.

Last time I played here, year or so ago, it was bad. Much improved.

Tee Boxes were in poor condition overall. Need leveling.

Fairways were ok, mostly lush with some bare or dry spots. Much better than last time out.

Rough is not great, lot of dirt/weed/hardpan/gopher damaged ground, especially further from the fairway. Still playable.

Greens are BIG. They are the highlight of the course. Med speed, mostly flat but decent roll.

Areas around the green are mostly Kikuyu grass. Very sticky stuff. Chips don't get through it. Shaved areas can be putted through. Thick stuff like a bunker shot. Very good condition.

POP was 3:45. 4some following 3 2somes, best pace ever on a City course.

No refreshment cart. Restaurant is open, I didn't use it.

Overall, it was fun to play this less challenging course. Nice day on the links, close to home.
Wouldn't drive far to play it, but glad it's here.
