Rode the blues on Friday January 25, late review. POP 4 hours 9:50 tee time as a foursome. Course hasn’t changed since my last review. Tee boxes, lush and even, fairways great, no bad lies, greens really fast, it was windy so putting was difficult. I was in one trap and it was ok, this was the only negative. Rough was not an issue, really never is on the hilly courses. Had a burger after and it was ok, view was nice on the patio so that makes up for it. Customer service at restaurant was good, pro shop is ok. I got the Groupon deal for $55 with 20% off so it was $44, which is a deal. They used to be on GolfNow, but have been taken off. I asked the Proshop if they’d be back on and he said probably not. For $55 I definitely recommend, but not the rack rate. Too many good courses to pay rack rate anywhere.

Rode Desert/Mountain at 8:45, POP 3 1/2 hours as a foursome. Tees and fairways have not been mowed due to the rains and they are in need of a trim. Greens were smooth, the ones that had been cut were good, others that had not were rather slow. Traps were wet with standing water, but to be expected with the rains. We had the course to ourselves so a lot can be overlooked when this happens, never waited, never rushed. Customer service here is always fantastic. They are beginning the build for the resort soon and I’m sure it will improve more. I’d like to see some group golfer/Groupon/GolfNow/ tee off specials at this course since I’m so close. I definitely recommend if you can get a foursome as there is a discount. I believe it’s $55 during the week with a foursome and I recommend it at that price.

Out to Ojai to play Soule Park. On another miserable 75 degree so cal day. Course was packed, they were running 45 minutes behind so my 12:16 tee time turned into 1. Needless to say we didn’t finish the round before dark and we only got in 16, POP was horrific and this is why I don’t normally play the weekends. However I do like this course, greens were fantastic, tee boxes, fairways, average, rough, virtually non existent, sand excellent. I do recommend this course, just not on the weekend at 12. Actually I don’t recommend any course on the weekend at 12. We had a burger in the bar after the round which was excellent. Customer service on all levels was excellent.

Took the hour drive to Ojai. Today’s conditions definitely made up for yesterday at Knollwood. Today was absolutely perfect. Yesterday we almost died from hypothermia, today high 60’s with no wind. POP a little over 4 hours only because we caught the foursome of millennials that started 4 holes ahead of us. On a side note, if you are a beginner the blue tees aren’t for you and there are others on the planet, not just you. Back to the review, course was fantastic. Staff is top notch, best I’ve had in awhile. Course was in great shape, tee boxes level, fairways lush, sand great and greens were perfect. I would highly recommend this course and I will definitely be back. The Ventura, Santa Barbara area is really underrated as far as golf is concerned. It really is worth a golf trip if you aren’t local. Rustic Canyon, Moorpark CC, Olivas Links, Glenn Annie and Ojai are spectacular courses that won’t break the bank.

First off at 6:37, extremely windy, cold and dark. Used glow balls for the first hole. POP 3 hrs 30 minutes. If I’m gonna play Knollwood I’m gonna be one of the first groups out, if not it’s not worth it. Tee boxes and fairways were average, but the greens were worth the greens fee, they were fast, firm, but held shots too. I love the layout at Knollwood, it’s not overly difficult, but good to test your game. Although we almost got hypothermia it was worth the early start. I don’t mind the cold, it’s the wind that sucks. I will definitely be back for an early round soon.

Played today for the first time, $25 GolfNow deal. First no one should complain about any So Cal golf course right now. The weather is amazing and we are lucky to be playing. Having grown up in the Midwest this can’t be emphasized enough.
Upon entering the pro shop we were greeted by Carl who was extremely friendly and told us we could go off early if we wanted to. The pro shop sets the tone for the round and a friendly employee is abig plus, think chik fila lol.
Rode the blues at 10:22, POP 4 hours, no waiting just a relaxing round. Tee boxes were ok, some not level and they have my favorite weed, I mean grass, kykui. Fairways are hit and miss, some lush, some not so great. Rough was the same as the fairways. Greens were slow at the start because they hadn’t been mowed. By the back they had been and they were perfect. The greens are definitely the highlight. I found a lot of traps today and they were very good. You can see they are definitely working on the course. Overall for price, conditions and layout I highly recommend.

Took the hour and 20 minute drive to Goleta on a Group Golfer deal for $39. Rode the greens(blues) in 4 hours and 15 minutes. Tee boxes were level, a couple of thin tee boxes. Fairways were lush, there is no rough to speak off. The greens were fantastic, rolled true, not many ball marks, held shots. Customer service was great and the other golfers on the course were great. This was my first time playing and I will definitely be back.

Every review of this course is the same, the course is fantastic. I played on Friday morning, POP 4.5, due to slower foursome in front of us, but it happens, they were the only setback on the day. I got a tee off deal and paid $30, which a complete steal for this course. If you hit the ball in the fairway you won’t have a bad lie, I never have. I take the hour drive from Santa Clarita to Ventura, but if I lived closer I’d play it everyday. Yes it gets windy, but it works to your advantage as well. Hole 16 is one of my favorite holes. You also don’t get hilly lies like some of these tricked out mountain courses. If you want affordable golf, the way golf was meant to be played I highly recommend it.

Group golfer deal for $34, can’t beat the price for this course. Pro shop staff extremely friendly, checkin was easy. We came with two foursomes, POP was under 4 hours, tee boxes, fairways, rough, lush. The greens were fantastic, rolled true, hardly any ball marks and I know about the greens because I had 40.....yes 40 putts. I really like this course, the rough is rough and you will be penalized if you are in it, but the landing areas are generous. No gimmicky kykui green weed grass either. I will definitely be back and I recommend the course.

I haven’t played Sand Canyon CC since it was Robinson’s Ranch. I live close and want it to be back to how it was when it first opened as RR. The reviews have been good and my friends said it was back. I’ve played a lot lately and played TPC yesterday so I had a good comparison. The staff at this course is by far the best. Mark in the pro shop was great, cart girl great, as well as the restaurant staff were the best of any course I’ve played. Now on to the course. We played desert and mountain, valley closed for maintenance. Desert was recently overseeded so the fairways and tee boxes were long, but green and lush. The greens rolled true but also were a litttle long. It’s obvious desert and valley are getting maintenance, but in a month the course will be fantastic. I didn’t like mountain and I still don’t. The difference is clearly visible in that it seems that they don’t water it the same as desert and valley. This course will punish you if you don’t hit the fairway and the landing zones are tight. POP was 4 hours and we played the desert 9 again from the blacks which was fun. All that being said the course is back, the combination of customer service, which frankly is missing at most businesses, and the course improvements make this a good course. Please just don’t play it Friday mornings as I don’t want it too crowded lol.

Sometimes the golf gods come thru and today they definitely did. A fourth cancelled on a friend of a friend and I got asked to play by default lol. Everything about this place is fantastic. From the clubhouse to the practice facility to the course. As far as the course, tee boxes lush, even. Greens fantastic rolled true. The fairways seemed to have been recently overseeded and it was cart path only, no roll and they needed cut, that’s to be expected. Will I play again? Absolutely if someone asks me because I can’t afford it lol.

Not much to add from the previous review, but this is my favorite course. I love the layout, POP- 3 1/2 hours tee boxes level and lush, fairways to me fantastic, some may find them thin, just hit down on the ball. There is no rough, hazard, and the greens were perfect, but I’d hate to see them in the summer, midday. If you can get a deal I highly recommend this course.
