Played early on a weekday. A cool start with the marine layer intact and a breeze from the west. We finished in three hours following local singles. That was the highlight of the round POP. The conditions are not up to par and the preceding review is more critical than mine here.
The fairways are shaggy and many varieties of weeds infested throughout. The rough is lengthy and grabby. Tee boxes shaggy some un-level. Bunkers mostly wet firm and un-kept.
The greens slow with decent growth and coverage.
Overall the course is a step or more back from it's prior conditions. Seems to be trending towards less than more. It's a challenging layout with length variety of holes.
Still enjoyed the round, it's golf mind you. As I was playing and looking things over, it seems the maintenance staff is lacking numbers and resources. Many workers out there early but too much work needs to be done in order to get the course conditions to match the rack rate green fees.

Played 7/1 early and warm for Truckee (54) start. Was anxious to play for the first time this season and was pleasantly surprised with the good conditions.
Greens were a little slower than normal and once I got accustomed to that they rolled mostly smooth and true. Tee boxes had been large plugged awhile back good coverage. And the bunkers have been machine groomed. Mowers were out doing tees and the surrounds.
I thought given the huge snow this year the course came through great.
It was busy and still busy when I went back yesterday for some putting on the very large practice green. Monday before the 4th and the tee sheet was full, starter busy at 5pm and after for $50 twilight rate as many as you can get before sunset.
Recommend always.

Early start Sunday as we prefer, in the 2nd spot as 3 behind a 4-some. If we switched order from the start instead of at the turn POP would have been better. One of the 4 took a a break on the front, sitting down while waiting to putt out one hole.
Course is in ok shape but I have to report that it has not matured through the spring as expected. The routing and design is not matching up with great conditions expected at this price point. The on-line booked rate at $70 senior was changed to $65 at check-in. Not sure if it was the troon advantage (not a troon tee time) or a condition adjustment.
Primary reason for my lower rating in this report the greens.
They have not healed and come around to pristine as expected. In fact the first few have areas on the fringes of turf replacement. Sadly, it's been noticeable to me the last six months or more since the fall aeration processes. Rolling with speed and break but not the smoothness and excellence of past years.
Irrigation has a couple spots over watered soggy in the fairways. Everywhere else in good shape. Last week multiple tournament play days reported by the local single who joined us.

Raised the weekday rate = to weekend $17 to walk 9 holes.
Greens ok medium speed still see aeration holes here and there.
Most noticeable through the green was the areas you don't want to be and shouldn't for the average player a little shaggy taller than normal grass. And the course is wet. Seems a controlled or not irrigation of almost too much water in areas. . Many drainage areas damp and or muddy as well as a few tee boxes. It was hot last week. Cooler this week. Formula to grow green grass the layman thinketh. See how this theory works out next week. We showed up late for our time. (third guy long distance) and were accommodated behind the periwinkle Sr. group. That was ok pace for our group of three FUN! 2.25 POP

Sunday for a quick early out 18 and home for the PGA.
Checks all the boxes for a short course. Fair and good greeens cold beer and the clubhouse improvements with a re-visit to confirm my previous review.
It's all that it should be. And for our Sacramento area the driving range is almost always hit off the grass not mats. I think that's important for those who use a practice range extensively.

Don't need to write much about the course condition. Generally better than good moving up in all rating areas (except for white tee box on 14 unlevel) for a great value track that should be attractive to most players seeking a good time.
7:26 tee T; clubs in trunk 10AM POP 2.5 hrs.
Guy in front of me checking in; " I drive extra to come here because you keep things so nice". He brought along his wife as "his caddie". We were second out following two with them behind us on the front. She didn't have to carry as he had a push cart for her use and she was allowed to use a shopping app on her phone. He had the course GPS on his. She pushed the bag in the caddie role he walked along beside her. It is just FUN!
Clover mix in the fairways in spots. I'd say play it down cuz nothing was "perfect" but all fair through the green. If say an event play.
Greens great right now. tad slower than medium nothing to fear here slope or tricks. Bunkers good with the new sand. The thin to win most effective escape.
Out of the way great place to play. Noticeable former (last few years) areas of dry beds are now more ponds than vernal pools. Therefore to the eye the property looks healthy and fresh right now.

Thought I was fortunate to snag the first tee time out on Mothers Day 5/14 6:30. When we drove in, the parking lot was MT I mean no others, with the exception of a couple left overs from the night event in the overflow area. That was a strange twilight zone feeling. Went to the pro shop to check-in, it was open but nobody inside.
Found out we were the only tee time until about 9am with the exception of the employee and his group who were a hole or two behind us. With that on to the golf. Spectacular day for it! The Bev cart met us on 16 going backwards. I mentioned not many behind us and she said that 134 players on the tee sheet this day. Busy when we finished as was M-day brunch in the restaurant and golfers were bustling about. HAPPY DAY MOM!!!

The course is in overall good to better condition all around.
The bunkers the exception. Mud puddles in some, others damp, many perfect.
The greens which make the course imo are coming along as I've previously described. First few holes I was fixing 4 or more ball marks not my own. The aeration holes healed and the speeds are increasing where above the hole doesn't take much to get the ball rolling. The adjustment to more break less speed a useful skill.
The rough deep and lush enough to hide your ball.
The fairways are a trim away from great and offer roll out for the low stingers.
Conditions improving each week and playing the ball down a far test through the green.

The 9 holer is playing ok. Overall good conditions getting better. Had been rained out of two tee times here in the last two weeks. The greens slower and bumpy due to the aeration. Fairways are not in play it down conditions but good coverage. Bunkers had water in some most raked and machine worked when possible.
When the greens are "normal" they make the round more fun.
Good vibe here and close enough to home makes it a go to course when 9 holes i$ the agenda.
$16 to walk fits. $5 draft pints. the snack bar can be accessed after the 3rd hole. Signature 4th hole is par 3 downhill over the pond.

Weather break to mostly sunny skies got us out for the early Sunday golf.
Saturday's early round was a washout. Read my previous review from 2019 for the course details. Happy to report significant improvements to the facilities evident as soon as you drive-in.
Since my last visit the pro shop / snack bar has been updated. Completely new building. Spacious dining area inside for after event gatherings as well as patio areas overlooking the course and small practice green adjacent to the 1st tee box.
Tied my personal best 18 hole score breaking 80 for the first time this year despite 6 doubles and a triple! Did I mention its par 58? :)
Greens sized hole length appropriate good shape rolling decent pace. Just slightest evidence of spring aeration. Fairways good coverage rough penal enough but es-capable. Trees in the right spots.
The 7th hole is railroad tied par 3 water surrounded. similar to 17 TPC Sawgrass.
Cool short track with good conditions.
The driving range a short walk from CH is large has large grass hitting area. I don't recall ever seeing mats used here it's a large level practice tee.
I'd say this is golf at the grass roots level that appeals to the beginner as well as a challenge and change of pace for the experienced. The routing can be peculiar for the first timer. After #1 easy to go to #8 tee to right; two is left. 6th tee box is next to 5th. 11th RS of driving range. Get that right and it's a good walk spoiled. I'll be back soon!

First out today. I wonder if I mention that if the course operator reads it and deduces my ID. POP as three player 3.25 hours.
The aerated greens (4/10) are healing nicely. Slower and sightly bumpy as expected. I had the occasion to check the practice green Saturday.
Tees also have been aerated and the fairways are a little longer than normal. Evidence of fertilizing recently. The rough has been maintained and consistent, medium depth, playable.
All in all the course condition I'd describe as poised and ready for a few weeks of sunny weather. With that and normal maintenance and it will be all systems good to go. Getting better daily to the excellent conditioned course it is known for.
Early out. Didn't see the beverage cart on the back as we normally do on weekend play.

Played Sunday early. Sunny and mild.
Still seeking a area course that is a value for the green fee paid for a prime time weekend slot. This one at $70 not so much.
Asked about the green conditions when I called for the tee time. All good I was told. Many areas on the edges brown and dirt. Putted ok at medium speed.
Fairways are good, ball sitting up. Sand ok not recently maintained.
Rough thick and lush. It was cut this week but was too long and brown rows wet grass hid many balls going there. Annoying to say the least.
Oak trees that have fallen years ago the trunks still are left in the areas of play for the duffer. Other more recent trees still in progress of removal. Not polished but playable.
Overall conditions marginal for this price level imo.
Great pace of play and I love the design. Busy parking lot when we finished.

The Poa greens are a little slow and show some seeding. Giving them the adjustment to speedier length in increments over the next weeks. Pro shop reported.
Overall coming into shape and compared to higher costing and rated courses in the area more than holding it's own condition wise rolling into warmer spring weather. (finally)
A track where you won't have perfect tight lies every fairway. enough defintion where you'll get roll out in the short stuff and the rough just high enough to hold you up.
Good value (golfmoose) good service easy choice.
