Played mid-November with the usual group. Course was in pretty decent condition. Grass was pretty green throughout the course. A few bare spots, but that is to be expected on a muni. Greens were very inconsistent; some were very fast, some were very slow. All were in good condition, but it was difficult to get a good rhythm going when similar greens behave drastically different. Tee boxes were good, some bare spots, but all level. Also frustrating, from about 75 yards in on almost every hole, the fairways were extremely tight lies. They were lush, there was definitely grass there, but it was very hard to hit down and through the ball, the dirt was so hard packed beneath the sod.

Pace of play wasn't horrendous for a Sunday morning, but it wasn't very good either. We were a fivesome and stayed right on top of the foursome in front of us and ahead of the foursome behind us. We waited on almost every hole and almost every shot. Finished in about 5 hours, which is not ideal, but I have certainly played slower rounds here.

Customer service was pretty blah. Not great, not terrible. Some people were having issues with the starter. I didn't really have any problems, except for them being behind. Cart girl was around 3 or 4 times on the front nine, but not once on the back nine. Waitress and Cashier in the bar/grill were great and very quick with our orders.

Driving range is is pretty limited. Putting green is too small.

I'll be coming back!

Played on Saturday 2/12 with my father and his friend from Law School. Got a 9:04 tee-time and was paired with a single.

I guess management really got the message. Customer service had improved drastically from the last time I played here. Starter checked us in and sent us to the 1st tee promptly, and the marshals really seemed to be doing their job patrolling the course. Pace of play was an issue on the front nine, but it really opened up towards the end of the 1st 9 and on the back.

Course was in some of the best conditions I have seen it in. Greens were in great condition and were extremely difficult. Very challenging, but definitely not impossible. Fairways were very firm, especially inside 100 yards, and it definitely caused our group some problems.

Very impressed with the turnaround this course seemed to make from previous years. Gone were the downright rude and careless staff members, and management really seemed to have control over operation of the entire course.

Course in good shape for the summer. Greens in good condition, fairways in typical Westlake shaoe (OK), rough non existant, and sand in good shape. Tee boxes tend to get either bare or shaggy.

Never my first choice, but I don't mind going out to Westlake every once in a while.

Really a fun layout and enjoyable round. Entire staff, from starter to cart vendor, to cart girl are top notch. These guys really know how to run a great affordable golf course.

One downside...The greens are a little disapointing. They continue to be really brown and dry. I know its really hot, but it seems worse than just heat. Maybe fungus or some other problem. Who knows. They still arent horrible, but I would expect them to be in as good condition as the rest of the course.

I'll definately be back to rustic canyon.

Course is really in Fantastic Condition. Would play here more often if it wasn't so hard. Big time target golf. The forced carries arent that big a deal, none TOO long. But a slight mi sh$t or faulty alignment and you're in an environmental area. Don't get me wrong, i love tough courses, but Angeles can get frustrating at times. Be prepared to bring a variety of shots with you as you will be forced to use them all, and than some.

Still great track, great conditon. When I get to be a better golfer, I'll come back.

Fun course to play if you can get a time early in the morning. Even than, prepare for some long rounds. Pace of play has always been a problem, and will continue to be a problem as long as the city keeps jamming people on.

Still, I enjoy playing here. Course is always in decent shape...nothing to rave about, but always playable. Greens roll pretty true...would be better if people were more cogniscant of their fellow golfers. It's a fun layout. back to back par 5's thrown in. Don't see it a lot, so it's a fun change from some other courses.

After a while, not being able to see the landing area on a hole gets annoying. Yeah, course knowledge helps at De Bell, but it gets infuriating when you hit a great shot only to have the ball not be there when you get down to the fairway. Is it the people? Other golfers? I have no idea.

Besides, pace of play is a huge problem at De Bell. Be prepared to wait on almost every shot. They really jam in the tee times, and they continue to book large groups of slower players together. Again, I have absolutely no problem with Women golfers. its just a fact that the Majority, not all of them, are going to hit it shorter than most men. Thus when you have 3,4 or 5 groups of women back to back, it causes a back up around the entire course for most of the day.

De Bell, stop jamming in the people and do a better job managing your golf course. maybe than I'll come back.

Fun layout. More fun than harding, and a little longer and tougher to boot.

First. FIX YOUR FREAKING BALL MARKS!! Greens would be an 8 or 9 out of 10 if people were not such a-holes. God. Its not that hard. Yes, golfers are to blame, but the golfcourse shares some responsibility. Have the starter remind EVERY GOLFER to repair ball marks and fill divots. SELL OR GIVE AWAY DIVOT TOOLS! Give a little how to pamphlet at the first tee.

Besides that everything was in good condition. All tee-boxes, fairways, rough, sand in summer condition, but not too many bare spots. Good job their Griffifth Park. The greens...not so much.

Played TwiLight 6/23.

Course continues to be in better-than-espected shape. Greens are in very good shape. All run true and smooth. They could stand to be a little faster, but beggars cant be choosers. Fairways, Rough, Traps, and Tee Boxes all in very good shape for a muni.

Can't beat it for $7 super twilight. Only complaint...WHY ARE THE SPRINKLERS GOING ON WHILE THERE IS STILL PLENTY OF LIGHT OUT?!?

Played Thursday 6/21 in the a.m.

Fun links style course. Very large greens that weren't very aesthetically pleasing, but all rolled true and fast. TOO MANY UNFIXED BALL MARKS. Unbelievable.

Fairways were very nice and well manicured. Rough was penalizing, and on a few holes made it very tough to find your ball. Not their fault, I should have kept it straighter!!

Bunkers were tough design wise. They were in very poor condition though.

Course has a lot of waste area and environmental safe zones. Keep it in the fairway.

Don't be tempted to play from the blues or blacks. While yardage may not seem like much from the whites or reds, many holes wll challenge you with fairway bunkers, deep rough, and waste and brush area.

GPS was helpful with the yardage. Very basic. If you've never played, buy a yardage book for $5. No course map on scorecard or GPS, and some holes were difficult to decide were to hit to leave a decent second shot.

Played 6/2.

Good: Greens were in very good condition, escpt for, ahem, UNFIXED BALL MARKS. Rolled nice and true, medium-fast. Fairways were nice and green and lush, except for a few spots were some different kinds of grass were starting to grow. Rough was penalizing, and traps played well. Staff is very friendly, Fee is reasonable.

Bad: Bring your driving range mat with because these are the worst tee-boxs in southern california. Does the staff not understand the concept of moving the tee boxes a few feet each day? Heck, with the amount of short irons, move them a little at 1:00 too. So many unlevel tee boxes, severe divot damage, EVEN THOUGH MIX IS READILY AVAILABLE.

Fun course though. Hit it straight, or else...

Played Twi-light Saturday 5/26. Tee-ed off around 2.

Course was in very good condition. Tee Boxes were all very lush and level. course does a very good job. Box full of divot mix canisters on 1st tee, most holes had divots, but golfers do a good job filling divots and maintenance looks like it was rotating location well.

Fairways and rough all lush and green. Again, lots of divots, but 80% were filled with the mix they provide. Very few bare areas.

Greens ran kind of slow, but still smooth. Only downer...FIX YOUR FREAKING BALL MARKS!!!! How hard is it, seriously? If you're good enough to hit the green, you should want to fix your ball mark. Hell, I enjoy fixing my ball marks...it means I did something right!!! I could understand if its a beginer hitting a lucky shot, but there were so many ball marks, it was unbelievable.

Customer service was great. Saw cart girl at least 7 or 8 times. Great pace on front nine, slowed some on the back. Good price for twilight. Easily got in 18 for $33.50 with cart. Will walk next time, short course.

Overall, very enjoyable round. Fun layout, lots of elavation changes. Choose your shots wisely. Will definately be back.
