Great day out in the desert today. Rams Hill is always a great play and with GKers even better! Conditions were splendid with lush green everywhere to be seen. Very consistent conditions, like always, all around. Restaurant is open but for to go only of course. Go now before the end of the season, they close for summer.

First off at twilight they take your temp when you arrive. No carts today unless you have a handicap placard. They said maybe next week as they are under staffed to handle all that. Course is in very good condition although the greens are slower than they were a couple months back when they were lightning! Worth playing, but it's walking only without a placard!

Went off at 6:50 for a GK Cup match with lotrgolfer Matt. A bit of fog for the first couple holes but burned off quickly then warmed up nicely into perfect golf weather. The course is in excellent condition right now as you would expect a few weeks after a PGA tournament. Rough has been cut back to a good, still extremely penal, length. I like it better out here when you don't have send out a search party for every shot that doesn't find the short stuff!
Tees: level and nice
Rough: 3" and thick
Bunkers: full of fluffy sand
Fairways: lush and tight
Greens: running quick and smooth and well struck shots will spin and stop
Customer service: check in fine, saw a snack cart a few times
Recommendation: YES, for city residents and out of towners as well.

Played with the gurus on a beautiful day. Perfect golf weather. First time here and the course was all I thought it would be and more. Very challenging in a super fun way. Not many straight forward, hit it there and that's it shots. The ball was almost always in for more of a ride than that! Conditions were very good, can't wait to go back!

Spur of the moment after looking at Torrey, Balboa, Coronado . . . all busy. So I went to Admiral open for whatever. 6 carts waiting on the North so I asked about the South. Went off at 12:16 finished right about 4.
Tees: Good enough
Fairways: thin with bare areas, the guy I played with said they play winter rules 365, so bump it into some grass, thin, but green
Rough: variable, mostly nonexistent
Bunkers: very nice from what I could see
Greens: highlight of the course, running mostly smooth, much quicker than the practice green, downhillers could get away from you quickly
Layout: basic golf, but interesting enough to keep your attention, you still have to execute your shots
Overall: A good fun play worth playing, just don't expect to be wowed

Went off first at twilight yesterday 1/22. Finished in just under 4 hours without a wait until the 13th. Course is in really good shape in all the areas one should be playing from. Tees, fairways, rough, bunkers all in good shape with greens being in excellent shape. The greens are really fast (Torrey fast), smooth and tricky right now, such a pleasure to putt on! A little soggy in places, but a good play right now.

Went off at 10 am on the dot, finished at 3:20.
Weather was blustery.
Fairways: almost perfect
Rough: brutal
Bunkers: full of white fluffy sand
Greens: fresh top dressing had them a touch below fast, 10.5 maybe?

Went off first at twilight, only made it to 16 with reasonable light. Cart path only and the group in front of us weren't really golfers.
Course was in good shape, but a bit soft and wet. They had just mowed most of the rough (lots of cut grass laying on top), but finding balls was still quite a chore and advancing the ball from it was extremely difficult. Greens were nice (too many ball marks, fixed a ton) and the bunkers were mostly in good shape. Not much run out in the fairways.

Chipping area was closed as was the North side putting green. I long for the long, warm, dry days of summer.

Sorry for the late review, I've been brooding. Played at just after 8 am on Friday the 13th with Gary, Sal and Johnny GK. I found the course to be in better shape than my recent round a month ago with the greens and bunkers being the highlights. The course is filling in and the back 9 fairways needed a good mowing. I like this course and hope it stays around and is maintained. It is challenging with a good variety of holes, centrally located (less than 10 minutes from my house), with a good driving range, restaurant/bar and affordable.

My rating came out a bit low, I would say more in the 6.5 range.

Last chance to play, possible, for the next week or so, so I went out at 11:37. Course is in good, playable condition with fast, good rolling greens and bunkers in great shape (the two highlights) the rest of the course very playable with some rough spots here and there. Lots of roll out on fairways but still great lies. Get out there!

Went off (11/12) at 11:20 finished just before 4, no waiting just tough conditions. They are in the middle of overseeding and there are bare areas, wet areas and many roped off areas (CPO). The greens were mostly nice with a few still showing signs of being punched, but mostly ran fast and smooth. Bunkers, mostly, at least the ones I was in, were nice to play from. Hopefully everything will turn green and plush soon!

. . . this course, from the Blues, can play rather long and tough with the wind, forced carries, water, tight landing areas and sloped FAST (at the moment) greens, but is fun and challenging. Great deal on the GK coupon!

Played 10/29, at 11:10 with the GK coupon, great deal! The course is in good playable shape all around with greens still being a bit bumpy but running fast! That's not a good combo. The greens are already tricky, then add a bumpy surface (still recovering from being punched) while running really fast and . . . makes for tough sledding! Bunkers are maintained but firm without a layer of anything soft. Tees are a on the chewed up side. Fairways are mostly nice and good to play from, some tight lies here and there mixed with some soft wet areas in others. Not much rough to speak of but what there is is sticky. Staff is great, POP was right around 4 hours, weather was perfect so it was a good day to play. Fun course with lots of different challenges that will eat you up if you are off.
