Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii!Played today. 70 degree day with 15-20 mph winds. Sunny and pleasant.
Fairways - generally lush, and running relatively fast.
Rough - slowly growing back after dormancy during the winter
Greens - hard and relatively fast. Rolling true and really enjoying putting on them today.
Greenside bunkers- was in 3 bunkers, and all had great quality sand.
Conditions overall... excellent.
Now the bad. I've been playing here for many years and I consider this my home course. Pace of play has been just horrible the last several times I've played. Had mid morning tee time and it took over 5 hours, on a Tuesday morning. I have long given up playing here on weekends. Course staff was out to move people along, but it was just unacceptable. In my opinion, both Robinson courses are just plain too difficult for most people. These courses are very narrow with numerous shots that involve a forced carry. Players are spending prolonged time search for balls, which quite honestly, will not be found in the deep desert. Also, having played many times with good female golfers, I believe that the forward tees are still too long for many women (given the narrow fairways, doglegs and forced carries). Also, I find way too many men are playing black and blue tees and they have NO business doing so. Full disclosure, I am a mid single handicap golfer and shoot 75-80 on these courses. Even though I can hit a driver in excess of 250 yards, I never have felt qualified to play the tips and will often play the white tees and still feel challenged.
Clearly pace of play is an huge issues everywhere , not just here. However, it would be great if the management could figure a way to have people play just a bit faster ( less than 5 hours is a start). The layout and course conditions are really good and hard to complain about.

Sunny 68 degree day. Windy as per usual. 15-20 with gusts up to 30. Started on the back nine. Grass range in great condition. Love the chipping area. In general , the winds comes down from the highest end of the golf course (13th green) and funnels down towards the front gate. However the winds seems to swirl and change directions on the front nine more than I remembered in the past. Greens firm, fast and true. Maybe a bit too fast given the windy conditions. Hard to hold greens down wind, even if landing short of the green. Black/blue/white tee box on hole 2 under construction. No problem, gives the opportunity to drive the green from the red tees. Fairways, hard and sparse. Rough, dormant and sparse. THe 2 bunkers that I hit into had consistent sand quality. Overall, had a good experience and will continue to play here on a regular basis.
