Played today and I was disappointed with the playing conditions. It looks like the summer heat has taken a tool on the PGA of Southern California golf courses. The fairways were lush in most areas, soggy in some areas, and dead in others. I was told that this is because the turf is a type more suited for cooler temperatures and that they will improve in coming months. The greens rolled pretty good although a bit slow for my tastes. Not as many ball marks as I expected based on the previous comments. My advice is to wait a month before playing PGA of SoCal to let it recover.

I agree sparky. I used to play Sierra Lakes once a month a couple years ago. The ball marks damage was there then but nowhere as bad as it is now. With such a glaring problem that's been going on for years, you would think the course would have done something effective to address the problem. But it goes on and on and on and on. The greens are not very resilient to impacting golf balls, hardly anyone fixes their ball marks, and the course appears to not be making an extra effort to fix the ball marks themselves. It’s like nobody cares and its shame because Sierra Lakes is fantastic course but with the greens in the state they are in, it leaves a bad taste in peoples mouths. I know it’s costing them business because it’s kept me from the playing the course as often as I used to. I think they should have their marshals monitor the greens as much as they monitor pace of play. Have the marshals watch out for golfers not fixing their ball marks and then reprimand the golfers who don't.

Last year we vowed never to play The Palms again because the playing conditions we’re deplorable. Nice folks, good service, but not worth the green fee. THIS YEAR for whatever reason we gave the course another shot and playing conditions were significantly improved. Seems they have a new Super that turned things around. The Palms is a challenging course with a relatively flat front nine and hilly back nine. It’s not as an exciting layout as the others courses in Mesquite but the price is right and place is wide open. It’s NOT a must play but it’s certainly a fun play. I believe it was the first course built in Mesquite.

Showed up as a single today and got right out. I thought the course was in excellent condition with exception to the sand traps. I’m not happy about the home construction. The course will never be the same. Still a great track although.

Course was in good shape today but the views were limited by the weather. Greens playing well. Liking the rate reduction to $45. Good call mochs.

Played this weekend. Fairways were a far cry from immaculate! Still many thin spots. They need more time to recover. Greens recovering nicely aeration. Customer service outstanding as usual. One of my favorite courses. Still too many ball marks. Come on people lets take care of this gem.

Played Twilight today at the Quarry and had a blast. Course was in great shape. Fairways seemed a bit thin in places but that’s my only complaint. I think timdhealms description is right on the button. Couldn’t have said it better. If you haven’t played this course you’re missing out.

Played this morning, the course is definitely still in recovery mode. Greens still a bit bumpy and the fairways very shaggy. Always a fun layout. Will be back in a few weeks to try again.

The greens are punched, the fairways being worked on, they had us play the back nine twice today. I had no problem with that since I love the back nine! For those looking to play the course for the first time I suggest playing else where until the fairways are back to normal and the greens have healed. It's a great coures I highly reccomend - but not right now.

This is going to be an awesome golf course once it matures. Played it for my first time over the weekend. Fairways and greens were rock hard but in good shape. Really like the layout. I think there are some better courses in the area at this point. Definitely worth a peak for those who need a fresh track.

Played the Lakes today. Greens are completely healed from the aeration and rolling true. Place is in great shape with very friendly service. Short yet challenging golf course. Keep it dry on the back nine if you want to score!

Played the course for my second time today. Was impressed again. Greens appeared to have been aerated recently but rolled very true. I found playing it a second time did wonders for my score. It’s a flat course but you’ve got to know where to place it off the tee. The trees really come into play and approach angles are very important. Snowmaned #16 the first time and again today. Starting to wonder if driver is not the club here and maybe I should hit a couple well placed iron shots to put myself in position for a wedge in. Just a fun golf course worth the drive and green fee. I’ll be back!
