Played Grizzly Ranch on 08/16/2023. Course overall was in great shape. A few fairways had areas of wear, divots and showed thin spots, although overall were plush. Greens were in good shape, soft and receptive to all but the most thinned wedge. Tee boxes overall were fair, mostly level with good grass coverage. Bunkers had decent amount of course, heavy sand, not the fluffy sand some tracks use. Very nice driving range setup, and putting practice area.

Course plays shorter than yardage shows as it is at 5,000+ feet elevation. I used 10% as my distance bump (150 in flatlands goes 165 here, etc.). We played the green tees which were 6,782 total.

Many of the holes require a tee shot to be positioned on the correct side, or short of areas that runoff. Notably hole 12 (621 from green tees), which unless you are the longest of hitters, or playing a forward tee box is not gettable in 2. I hit 3 wood, 4 hydrid, 52 deg wedge to get on the green in regulation. This hole is cut into three segments by a ravine at about 265 yards from green tees, and then again in front of the green which requires the correct shots off the tee. Unless you carry your driver 310 in the air, you have to lay up off the back tees.

Some fun par 4 holes, numbers 11 and 15 are drivable. Hole 11 is 267 but surrounded by bunkers, and 15 is 301 but is protected by a sharp false front so unless you fly it on will roll back down the slope, ask me how I know...

Overall, a very nice course to play and the staff was wonderful.

Played Bodega Harbour GL in Oct 2008 and was very pleased with the updates Kemper Golf have made to the course.

The last time I had played there was Nov 2005 and was not pleased with the conditions, especially the bunkers. Very poor drainage, and the rest of the course was just average in condition.

Well, let me tell you, their updates make it a very enjoyable round of golf. They have replaced all their greens with bentgrass and even though they are somewhat firm right now, the pace and smoothness make it enjoyable. They bunkers seem to have been reworked also. I played on a Sunday morning after a storm had blown through on Friday and Saturday AM, and did not have any bunker issues (Standing water, moist spots etc.) The sand was nice and fluffy.

Overall a good choice for a round of golf. Especially if the wind is down!

Whoa!!!...that is the reaction I would say is most common when seeing the course for the first time. Even if you have seen the course in photos...seeing it in person is a whole 'nother experience...I played on Sunday 03/05/2006 at 11:30 am...great weather that day, about 65 degrees, with only a light breeze. The course was in wonderful condition, and I agree with the other people who have played this course and noted that it is smart to choose the correct tees...since on a few holes the tee shot is hard to judge...even with the yardage book. An example is hole #2...I thought from the Blue tees I could hit driver...and I could, had I aimed over the mountain on the left...I ended up running through the fairway. A neat side note was seeing all the white specks (golf balls embedded) in the above mentioned mountain on the left side...also the Drive Thru snack shack was a first for me.

It is a MUST play and now it is time to start planning the next trip to Mesquite...which is only about 1 hr 20 miinutes from Vegas BTW.

PLAY THE WOLF!!!!

Overall a very good golf experience. Excellent views, nice challenge on most holes, good variations. Excellent greens, rolled true...get the yardage book from the pro shop, it helped me have chance at birdie on 4 holes (only converted 1-darn). Played this course 2 days after some rain and the traps were hideous...standing water, drainage pipes sticking out of them...not very nice. Luckily only had 2 sand shots during my round. Wind is a huge factor here...always seems to blow hard. Again in summary, worth the drive for those who do not live near it.
