Played on 1-7-09. Course in good shape for this time of year. Greens were more than tricky. Extremely difficult to read and extremely quick...everything breaks hard north to south. Fairways overly generous in width but closely cropped chipping areas and undulating greens more than compensate for the feeling of hitting it on a driving range.
Value for the experience: 2nd best in Ventura county, just behind Soule Park, which also was redesigned by Gil Hanse. Helps to play with someone who knows the course.

Even with a dry & fire laden summer, the course features lush fairways & rough, and smooth/true greens. Wind is always a factor at this course just north of the Santa Rosa airport but that fact notwithstanding, all the par 3's are challenging and demanding. Play gets a little slow in the summer what with the occasional 2 6-pack foursome ahead of you but in general, the pace is steady with few backups. A couple of risk/reward par 4's make this former Nike tour stop worth the 4 1/2 hr - 5 hr round.

Played 1-14-08. Greens in very good condition even with all the rain in NORCAL last week. Fairways were very soggy however; playing from the Blues added another 200 yds to the layout w/o roll. Lots of standing water in bunkers and many traps were unplayable. Recommendation: Wait until you get another 2 weeks of dry weather.

Course is in excellent condition and well designed. Fairways and rough were well maintained and fair. Because of the warm sunny weather, it was very crowded...almost a 5 hour round as a 2-some. Greens were very bumpy but quick. Always windy but for the money, one of the best golf bargains ($33 w/cart) in Northern California...superb design/quality experience.
