Having just started playing golf in 2013, the Cimarron Boulder course was one of my earliest 'big' challenges, and I was of course not up to the task. So when I knew that I was coming back again for the first time in a very long time, I was very excited, and the course did not disappoint.

This is not your typical Palm Springs course loaded with strategically placed palm trees on every hole, tricked-out water features and manicured cart paths. It's a little more rugged and bare-boned than that, but still has its own aesthetic, mostly in part due to some of the best snow-capped mountain views in the Coachella Valley. There are no trees, only one hole where water comes into play, and a large wash bisecting the course that can easily tractor beam your wayward shots right into it.

But don't let that scare you off. The course is still a very fun challenge, and right now the conditions are very, very good. You will have some intriguing options off the tee and will be using every club in your bag as you navigate the bunker-pocked fairways squeezed by the wash and OB pathways lining the course's perimeter.

Fairways are great with super lies all day long, and the rough is thick and challenging. Tee boxes (we played the blue tees) were in fine shape, as were the bunkers with good sand but did find a small smattering of small rocks in some, but not unlike the wash area - rocks are pretty prevalent there so consider shots wisely.

Greens were really great. Speed was tricky and seemed to speed up later in the day, but very firm and not at all gimmicky. Very few awkward tiers to deal with, but no shortage of knee-knockers when chipping or pitching on as the ball seemed to roll forever and be very difficult to stop near the flags. But good putts rewarded - as it should be.

POP was fine all day as we were behind the other Guru group and playing our GK Cup match, which also made the round even more fun because of the good company and compelling match. We had cart service as well throughout and warmup facilities were very convenient and more than adequate.

All in all it was a great day with pleasant weather and super fun golf. Worth the two-hour drive and worth your business. They're taking good care of Cimarron right now and it shows.

Played our forth match of GK Cup on a beautiful Sunday afternoon with GKers Matt, Jerry, Robert and myself. Very friendly staff especially the younger guy at the counter, they couldn’t have been nicer. The course looked to be in great shape, fairways were excellent and bunkers were great to play out of. Either I couldn’t figure out the greens or they were slower than they looked but I couldn’t get a ball to check on any of my pitch shots but it just wasn’t my day. There were a lot of waste bunkers and dirt paths which there were rocks under the dirt path, so lesson learned, don’t hit it over there lol... As for our match, my back had been killing me all day and I was no help to my partner Robert, plus Matt and Jerry played very well so we lost the match, sorry partner. First time playing there and I thought the layout was great and I would love to go back when I’m feeling better. Thanks to Johnny and everyone else who made this round possible today... Highly recommended..

Great to play in Palm Springs always. And first time with Johnny! Pace of play was great. The fairways were in great condition but you still have to hit it straight! Watch out for the wash on the first hole if you’re a big hitter as it runs across the fairway. A lot of the holes it’s on either side of the fairway so better pack a desert rock club! Also some holes have a walking / bike path so be aware as it’s right in the edge of some fairways. The sand traps were consistent. The greens ran true, but slower than they looked. Even for a Sunday it wasn’t bad even though crowded...didn’t have to wait on many holes at all which is nice. I would definitely play here again!

Played 11/14/20 as the second group out on a absolutely gorgeous morning. Cimarron(Boulder) is in the best shape I have ever seen it in. I hadn't played in years, and today I was blown away by the conditions. The greens are in great shape, they rolled smooth and true. The fairways and rough were very good, not too many bad lies out there, unless you end up in the wash that runs throughout the course. The cart girl makes a mean Bloody Mary but we didn't see her til the 15th hole. Not a big deal for me as I don't really care about having drinks on the course. The check-in was fast and easy, the staff is really great. We were on the course playing as soon as we were ready. For $75 on a weekend, I highly recommend this course. I would play here again.

Played the Boulder course a week after it came out of hibernation. Fairways and tee boxes are immaculate. Nice sand in bunkers. Greens while smooth rolling remain sloooow. Strangely for as slow as the greens were, they had signs ant and noticeable runout after approach shots or pitches. A bit pricey at $79 weekday am, but that’s probably the going rate in the PS area once the season starts up. Friendly check in and Cart girl, did not stop to eat.

Played 8/5 for 36 holes at Cimarron Pebble&Boulder(in that order), with one of the ironmen of GK, Nickesquire! He must have somehow known that I needed some stick time playing with the FFlights. Well, I jumped on his spur of the moment offer and hauled @$$ to Palm Springs. My iron play is coming along, this helps, thanks Nick.
I agree with Nick's reviews, so I will just add a few of my comments...I was new to Cimarron, and found check-in was efficient and customer Service to be great. The pro shop helped us between rounds and between 9's for reasonable requests during C19 conditions. I really appreciate the cart shop topping off our ice chest for the last 9, it made such a difference. The cart GPS worked good and all hazards and boundaries were clearly represented(this is something I appreciate more than most as I'm not really a good fairway splitter and new to these courses). I only lost one ball the entire day, so kudos to the GPS and Nick's caddy advice! Cimarron is very quiet and away from distractions...relaxing, even though it is close to the airport. Lots of wildlife. Very few fellow golfers that day, even though temps were down at least +10 degrees from just days before. This allowed us to play a very comfortable pace for shot planning and execution.
The afternoon breezes showed up and came into play, but they were at fun airspeeds for mostly tail and head winds on Boulder. The greens had been punched in the recent past, but they are healing well and rolling good. Reads to rolls, no surprises and pretty straight forward. I left about 8-10 putts just inches short of the cup, no fault to the greens, all me and the tuning that I keep doing with my putter. These were fun rounds at lower cost and in decent conditions...high value. Recommended.

Rode the Blues (6328/69.6/117) with FirstFlightFX-101 twilight. No POP issues, we had the course to ourselves in sunny, increasingly windy conditions in the low 100's. We walked the last 3 holes because the carts had to be in by 6pm. Thanks to Chuck for a fun round! Bermuda tees mostly lush with most divots already properly maintained. Bermuda fairways were mostly lush with few unfixed divots. Bermuda primary rough is mowed down and not very penal. However, if you miss the grass rough the native areas are 50/50 on whether you can play your ball even if you find it. Sand traps had good quality sand but were not well maintained. Too many footprints and unraked areas to be considered good. Bermuda greens were fairly smooth/firm and putted medium speed. No huge slopes or tiers on these greens, but there is rarely a straight putt anywhere. No on course services with COVID-19. Excellent customer service from all encountered. Carts have GPS to the front/middle & back of the green along with hole tips. No Starter, Marshall or Drink cart most days. Restaurant onsite was closed. All grass range open. Fun course in good shape. Recommended.

Rode the Blacks (6782/71.6/122) as a single in 2H, 45M mid day on a GN Hot Deal. The weather was clear, fairly calm and in the low 100's. COVID-19: Mask only @ check-in. They provided ice chests & ice, but restaurant closed. No rakes, divot mix or any on course services available, including bathrooms. First time here in almost 2 years. Fairways 2-4 are more level than they were before they were washed away and rebuilt after the Feb 2019 flood. They no longer lean toward the wash, which is a plus. Reasonably wide open, flat layout with few forced carries and not overly tough for the average golfer. I enjoy this course as a change of pace, a solid mid level alternative for the Palm Springs area that is usually in decent shape. Today was no exception. Firm and plenty of tan areas, but the course is very playable. Bermuda tees, fairways and rough all have good coverage. Semi lush with a few brown/thin areas due to the heat. All are mowed close. Traps had decent sand, but contain too many rocks and unraked areas to be considered good. Bermuda greens were firm and putted medium speed with few ball marks. Customer service was good, quick efficient check-in. All grass driving range. Course not overly busy this afternoon. GPS on the basic carts to the front/middle/back of the green and tips to hazards. Recommended.

Finally got out to play Cimarron Boulder this Sunday mourning.Greeted by the ever friendly Joe, the cart guy and ambassador to golf. Got there at 6:00 am for our 6:40 tee time.As required, everyone wearing their masks and keeping distant. In general, I've seen this this course in better shape for this time of year but considering this Covid 19 put a stop to the world,it's not bad at all. Bunkers in real good shape and fluffiness for no rakes, a few dry patches on the fairways, and I mean a few. Now the greens, Slow, and real slow. Nice and green and not fuzzy but just slow.it took our group a few hole to get used to it. We used the underpar deal at 39.00 for a 2 , and there's nothing that can beat that deal.
