For many years now that I could remember, it seems that the two front nines of both the North and South Course has had some issues with their fairways... (just east of clubhouse.) It's been patchy and browning year round. It's wierd because it's isolated to that area alone. Everywhere else is fine... I wonder what that is.

I remember my first few times there when they were playing only both the back of each courses. They'd start us off on 10th South and loop to 10th North which are both on the west side of the club house. It was nice and I thought that was a good thing... but then we wondered why and saw the fairways on both fronts of North and South and it had long brown streaks of dead grass on fairways. What was that?

Anyone know the story? In any case, I hope it gets better and better.

I know that this year it was do to the torrential rain storms they had late this winter. Washed away seeds, seedlings, soil, etc. They were hit pretty hard because of the way everything drains. Sad.

But you are also right that it's often these fairways that seem to have trouble anyway. hmmmm...

Played Terra Lago today and found the same situation. Maybe worse than ever. I see the same thing. The back side is in great shape but the front is trashed. A lot of the greens were in bad shape as well today. My wife thinks it may be a fungus or something. Don't think it would do any good to ask the course cause they don't seem to be very forthcoming with their guests. Had the rudest marshal ever today. At least they did seem a little concerned about our complaint so we'll see.

You are right. There are several holes on the front side of both courses. The 1st and 9th on both and the 8th on the south.

There are several challenges with any of the courses east of Monroe. From that point east you're at or below sea level making the ground salt an ongoing problem.

Terra Lago dumps tons of water on their turf nightly to try and keep the problem at bay. That particular area of the course has really dense clay soil that's just a fright to grow good turf. The only way to fix that is by rebuilding the area and adding a bunch of new soil. Since the course along with everyone else is on a tight budget so for now we just have to live with it.

If you can overlook that and some of the thin greens, it's the best value in the valley. Since I live close by, I take advantage of their player's club. For $29/mo I can use the practice facility anytime I like for as long as I like. If I want to play, I just have to pay cart fee ($15) and wait for twilight. I also get two draft beers included with the $15 (or you can get two of any other non adult beverage). Since I work, I couldn't play much during the day anyway so this works out great for me. If I don't get out to play or practice much, I'm only out $29 for the month.

The course is working on it's image and hospitality. If you sign up for their weekly email, they have great specials as well.

For $29 a month, it wouldn't be difficult for me to look away!

Anyway, I didn't want that comment to be my opening line, but I have you to blame for that great tip! I wish I'm there often enough to take advantage of it. But don't be surprise if you get an e_mail asking to join you one of these days.

It's amazing, that course. . . Mostly not long, but it can cost scoring plenty.

You know what I'm thinking is the executive muni east of Monroe (I want to say Jackson & 42nd), it is an older course and has always been mushy over watered at some lower spots. . . no, they don't seem to have any problems, but you touched on the water pounding of the west 9s of Terra Lago. Hmm. . .

Anyway, I wish Terra Lago well to get things going. . . I hope they do. I like those two courses. I also like their clubhouse. . . oh, and I used to take advantage of the breakfast and a round for a steal! Food is good, too.
