Rode the Golds (6401/71.0/130) as a single twilight in slightly less than 3H using Forelinx. The weather was clear, breezy and in the 90's. There are a few problem areas but overall the course is in decent condition heading into hot weather. The course plays very firm, resulting in more roll than most would be accustomed to. The tees were mostly lush and almost none needed divot repair. The fairways were just okay, good coverage, part lush, part thin with a few bare spots. The rough around the fairways is mowed down low. Mostly a combination of lush/thin, very playable with good coverage and occassional bare spots. The sand traps were very hit and miss. A few were very nice, well maintained with good quality sand. Most were mediocre. A few were hard pan. The greens are transitioning back to Bermuda. They were smooth, firm and putted medium speed. You really had to pay attention if there were patches of Bermuda between your ball and the hole, because where it has taken over for the winter rye it is much slower and more grainy. Schmidt/Curley layout that is challenging yet fun. Many undulations on the greens and large swells around the green complexes make for challenging chipping. This course would be difficult to walk as numerous tees are a long ways from the last green. GPS on the carts. Good all grass driving range with a couple of practice holes is a +. The customer service was excellent from everyone encountered. The course is very playable, but is beginning to brown and is very firm throughout. I like this layout. Recommended.

Round two of the Indian Wells trip was the second 18 of the day at Terra Lago, this time on the South Course. After finishing on the North, I had a really good sandwich for lunch in the clubhouse, then went out to the starter and got paired up with a threesome within about 10 or 15 minutes. Conditions were very much the same to me on the South as the North, very good greens, fairways, and tees, with decent rough as well. I don't think I found any bunkers on the North in the morning, but I do remember finding a fairway bunker (I believe it was the 16th hole) on the South that was in very good shape, not thin and not heavy and very pleasant to play out of. I enjoyed my round on the South, but I think I like the North little bit better. I know this is predominately due to pace, which is always going to be slower in the afternoon. It took around 4:40 to play 18, with a fair bit of waiting on many holes. I'll chalk some of that up to the wind as well, which had picked up a bit in the afternoon. Still a very pleasant round, and I bet if I had played this one in the morning, I might feel a bit differently.

Rode the Golds (6401/71.0/130) early morning with Steve and Chris on a GN Hot Deal. CPO, which contributed to the almost 4.5H POP. The weather was partly cloudy, breezy and in the 60's. The tees were nice. Lush and almost none needed divot repair. The over seeded fairways were good to play from, mostly lush. The rough around the fairways was a combination of lush/thin. Okay coverage but you could end up with a poor lie or be in as good of shape as in the middle of the fairway a foot apart. Several sand traps were lakes after yesterdays downpour. The ones that were not under water were in remarkably good condition considering the amount of rain yesterday. The greens were EXCELLENT. Firm and medium fast with few ball marks. Many undulations on the greens and large swells around the green complexes make for challenging chipping. This course would be difficult to walk as numerous tees are a long ways from the last green. Good all grass driving range with a couple of practice holes is a +. Carts have GPS. The customer service was good from all encountered. Enjoy this Schmidt/Curley layout, challenging yet still fun. Recommended.

Played here 1/8 for $45. The starter was nice enough to let me go 30 minutes early, and I joined a couple. The course is an interesting layout, with more undulation than most of the courses in the area. Most of the fairway lies were fairly thin. The sand traps were among the worst I've played, with a thin dusting of sand on top of what seemed like hardpan, almost impossible to hit a decent shot--twice I chipped from traps.
The greens were the best part of the course, firm and fast, with a bit of undulation.

Played here 12/29/18 with a friend and a 7:08 tee time. Starter was friendly however the guy who distributed carts had a terrible attitude. Now course conditions, Tee boxes were perfect! everything level and plush. Fairway were above average and green and had some good roll to them, they were pretty hard and the greens were excellent. Rolled true but some were faster than others. Judging speed was very difficult. Don't let this course fool you it's extremely tough. Worst score I have shot in over 7 years! If you're not on the green on hole #12 (par 3) and you end up in the sand, unless you're a PGA pro there's no way you are getting on the green it's so steep it's insane! Saw the cart girl twice and water was clear but did stink on the course. Pace of play was 3.5 hours for the two of us. Price was $62.00 since we were staying at the resort. Great course but extremely tough and we also had to deal with 50mph gusts of wind and 30+ sustained winds and 38 degrees when we tee'd off. Fun but very hard and frustrating at times. Course is beautiful!! I suggest the north course though, looked much more fun and even more challenging!

Played with sixpez and Nickesquire Thursday morning. Was my first time playing Terra Lago after all these years. It pleasantly surprised me. I knew not to expect excellent playing conditions typical of the higher end Palm Springs golf courses which I have been accustomed to playing. Also the South golf course was fresh out of overseeding. What surprised me was how interesting, challenging and flat out fun the layout was. As a first time player that loves shot value, this course is loaded with them. Risk/reward tee shots, intimidating bunkers, lots of doglegs, forced carries over water, tough green complexes, hazards on both sides of every hole, elevated tee shots, a fantastic signature par 3 … a blast.

As far as conditions, very good. Interestingly is after the round I talked with the Superintendent who informed me the greens are not overseeded with rye but rather poa. That they are tiff bermunda surfaces that do well the majority times of the year but need a cool grass added for winter play. This explains why the greens rolled so well. They are basically all bermunda with some poa sprouting through. I was told the greens right now are as slow as they get and to expect them to gradually become faster and firmer. Makes me want to head back there for sure. With all those undulations and tricky pins, must be diabolically fun when they are running faster.

Fairways in very good shape mostly lush with some thin spots. Rough mostly lush greenside and adjacent to the fairways with occasional thin/bare areas. Bunkers, well groomed but in many cases very firm and depleted of quality sand. Fairway bunkers overall in poorer shape than the greenside bunkers. I did find a couple in decent shape and got used to the firm texture. Tee boxes in very good shape with exception to the gold tees on the 17th hole.

Service was friendly and excellent all day. After the round I grabbed a bite to eat in the restaurant. Decent burger with tasty fries and great view of the signature holes on the North Course.

Overall, I’d play the South Course again and want to try the North Course. If the track was manicured better and in the kind of conditions of a PGA WEST, Desert Willow Golf Resort or Indian Wells Golf Resort the layout would be on par with most of those playing experiences. Granted the courses I mentioned do have higher levels of service and amenities but my point is this place has great bones with a ton of upside potential. It looks to be moving in a positive direction. CHECK OUT the photos I just posted. Recommended.

Played here this morning with JohnnyGK and Nickesquire. We started around 7:20 and enjoyed a nice relax pace after letting a couple twosomes through. At the moment, both courses are open, though North is shutting down for its overseed after this weekend. South just came out of the overseed and that's why we opted to play it. As Nick noted, the course was in pretty good overall condition and definitely better than when I was here last summer. It's still a bit rough around the edges and it may never be completely pristine like some courses out here, but the fun/challenging layout and unique desert setting help balance that out. The tee boxes were mostly quite good with just a few a little thin on the overseed coming through. Same with the fairways. There were a few small sandy/dead spots here and here, but mostly nice lies throughout. The rough mostly okay. There was some obvious storm/flood damage on the front nine where some mud and water washed through lower-lying parts of the course, but nothing too bad. The greens were good with the bermuda still holding strong as the rye starts to come in. A little slow, but should smooth out as the season progresses. I was only in one fairway bunker and it was fine. All bunkers seemed a bit hit or miss from what I observed, though. Though this place is a little rougher around the edges than some courses in the valley, I would still recommend either TL course. I've always said that these are two of the more underrated designs. I also contend that South is way underrated compared to North, which typically gets more acclaim. Both offer a unique and mostly secluded setting with the rugged desert all around, and the layouts are very interesting, challenging and fun. Definitely far from your cookie-cutter "Palm Springs resort/community" courses, and I like that. Seems the management has this place headed back in the right direction and I'm excited to see it. Thanks to the staff for having us out today!

Thanks to Terra Lago for having us out! The weather was clear, calm and in the 70's. This Schmidt/Curley layout is challenging yet fun. Many undulations on the greens and large swells around the green complexes make for challenging chipping. There are a few problem areas but overall the course is in good condition just out of over seeding. They have taken out many of the dead bushes around the fairways that used to be unplayable since i last played here 2 1/2 years ago. Now, much of that area is dirt/sand with a few bushes. Good change for POP. The tees were lush and almost none needed divot repair. Only #17 was in poor shape. The over seeded fairways were lush, very nice to play on. #8 had some bad areas, but the rest were lush with excellent lies. The rough around the fairways was a combination of lush/thin, very playable with good coverage. The sand traps were very hit and miss. A few were very nice, well maintained with good quality sand. Most were mediocre. A few were hard pan. The over seeded greens look nice. They were smooth, firm and putted medium speed. Played on Saturday 1/20, used Golfnow Hot deal for $40, definitely worth the price. Course is in pretty good overall condition. Played the Championship tees as this was my first time playing the course and the wind was 20-30 mph, so didn't want to kill myself from the tips.

Teeboxes were nice and level. Not much divot damage and had great coverage.

Fairways were excellent. Divots were kept to a minimum and repaired for the most part. I had great lies all day.

Rough wasn't too penal, it's pretty much all dormant Bermuda or bare ground, not too difficult to hit from.

Sand traps were kind of a joke. Big rocks all over the place and many waste bunkers. Be careful if you get in a bunker right now. They have a little soft sand on top, but the rocks and hardpan about an inch deep will hurt.

Greens were in pretty good shape. They are diabolical fast and I couldn't get a read on them all day. They are firm, but they hold a well struck shot. If you miss hit a shot, it's not going to sit and will roll out with ease. They putt true, but good luck if you're downhill.

POP was 4hrs, never an issue. Saw beverage cart once, but it was on hole 2, I wish it came around again, especially on the back nine because there isn't a convenient snack bar at the turn. Customer service was just fine, no issues.

Overall, I like the layout. It was definitely challenging with the wind. I will go back, for sure. I wouldn't pay $75-$100 for it, but for this time of year, I got a pretty good deal.
