Played in the Golf AM Tour this past Sunday the 29th of October 2017. It was in pretty good shape with the exception of some bare spots on the front nine's fairways. They were allowing us to roll the ball tee to green on the 8th and 9th holes. As this was my first tourney and I had butterflies galore, my score didn't reflect the effort for sure! LOL!! It is a very challenging track, we played the gold tees, and for $130 for the tourney I felt it was o.k. The greens were the biggest issue as they were terribly hard to read, but one secret is, everything breaks to Indio down the valley to the Salton Sea. Once I figured that out my last 7 holes were a bit easier and my belly felt a whole lot better. It has some punishing holes so bring some game, this place will humble the best players from the tips (black tees). As for the traps, well maintained and not to bad for consistency. Overall maintenance was very good.

Played on 8/12/17 with my friend Larry. Pretty humid and windy which made things interesting. Wind was at least 2 clubs on many holes. Took us right at 3.25 hours to get around, and a nice group of 4 let us play through on 15. Played the white tees which are only about 5850 yards. I prefer something more in the 6300-6500 range, but the spread is 5850 or 6400. The partner doesn't dig the 6400, so 5850 it is.

Tee boxes were nice with good coverage, level and easy to find a decent spot to tee it up except the par 3's. Par 3's were not level and had plenty of damage between the markers.

Fairways were in good shape. They were not real green, yet provided good lies when in the boundries. Never had a bad lie in the fairways. Some areas were a smidge tight.

The rough was non existent to nasty. Thank god they decided to pull most of the barranca out that lined the holes/fairways. Ball eating stuff that made playing this course miserable and SLOOOOOOOOW when straying off line. Kudos to the management for tearing that stuff out.

Plenty of bunkers and waste areas to keep you honest. The sand was hit and miss in bunkers. Most were hard packed or had a hard crust on top. I had a lie in one that broke the crust and was a fried egg. Never seen anything like it in such a hard surfaced appearing bunker. The sand under the crust was pretty decent.

The greens were very nice. They were accepting of a good shot, with minimal rollout. They were rolling pretty fast and smoothly. Some greens had some bumpy spots, not many. Not many unfixed ball marks which was nice. Always like a course that has a pin sheet and staff that tells you the pin placements!

Staff I saw was good and helpful. Nice to see that after my last outing here that was not so good. This is another course that has a sign, no carts in the parking lot. It would be nice if you could take the cart to your car on hot days to unload gear. There was nobody in sight when dropping the cart off.

I enjoyed most of the round and would play here again if the price was right. Lots of short holes that will punish you with small misses. We'll probably play again during the summer.

This course like the North is a fantastic fun layout. But....It is spoiled by always playing off hardpan. Almost all approaches require high lofted shots. It is very hard to do that with no grass under the ball and hard ground. Some of the bunkers needed all of my strength to get the ball out. Fluffy wet sand is simply brutal. It is not just here but at many desert courses the course designers need to take into account cart traffic creating hard ground from which to play. Something is wrong when you rather be in rough where there is some grass under the ball. Maybe in the winter the ground is softer? But I can't afford the rates.

Snagged a GN hot deal for $25 at 7:08. Good deal for an early morning round on what is anticipated to be a really hot day. I ended up teeing off by myself at 6:45. Played through a threesome and a twosome, and then had the course to myself for a 2-hour round.

The course is in okay shape, for the most part playing better than it looked in places. Tee boxes fine. Fairways light in color and firm/tight. Some dead spots here and there, but I always had good lies. The rough was cut down to nothing and there were some noticeable dead spots scattered throughout. I was in several bunkers and I thought the sand was fantastic. There are a lot of waste bunkers here, too, and those are much more wild in appearance. The greens were receptive and rolling pretty well at medium/slow speeds. Again, playing better than they looked at times.

I wouldn't expect pristine conditions here this time of year and I get the sense the courses were a little rough around the edges this winter, as well. What I saw of North looked a bit nicer than South, though. Overall, the whole place feels a little long in the tooth. My cart barely made it around the course, the cart paths are pretty beat up and the course just feels a little more ragged than the first time I played it 6 years ago. It's too bad, because I really like the layouts and desert setting of Terra Lago. I think they are vastly underrated courses for the valley because they offer something different than the cookie-cutter "Palm Springs" style residential courses. Would love to see this place rejuvenated. That all said, it was well worth $25 for a prime morning time. I wouldn't feel great about paying too much more than that right now, so your enjoyment may be relative to the price you pay.

The south course is not worth playing. Just skip it. I played the first five holes in 2 hours and was waiting on every tee box. The sand traps were gravel pits. No beverage service and conditions were spotty everywhere. There was a guy with a speaker and music you could hear across fairways and greens. Don't get me wrong, I carry one too, but keep it respectful guys. It was also mostly Whitesnake, so I'm thinking the golf gods were sending me a message. Maybe I forgot to fix a ball mark earlier on the north course.

Played the Golds (6401/71.0/130) using Forelinx. Played as a 4some with Don, Ron & Paul in 4.6H. The weather was clear, breezy and in the 80's. 1st time playing here, the course layout is very fun and the conditions were good to very good overall. There are a few problem areas and this course is NOT in as good of condition as it's sister North course. However, the GUR's are well marked and maintenance has obviously been ongoing. The tees were lush and a few needed divot repair. They needed to be maintained lower IMO. The over seeded fairways were lush, very nice to play on. Not quite as good and more GUR areas than the North course. Also a decent amount of unfixed divots. Several of the greens had the thickest, lushest rough closeby that I have played out of since relocating back to So Cal from Oregon 1 1/2 years ago.The rough around the fairways was a combination of lush/thin, very playable. The sand traps were well maintained with good quality sand. The greens do not look as good as the North course greens. However, they putt almost as nice. Medium speed, smooth and firm. An oddity on the Terra Lago courses are that there are no fringes/aprons around the greens. 1" off the green and you are in the rough, and while it's not U.S. Open deep, it often takes putter off the table even if you are barely off the greens surface. This course would be difficult to walk as numerous tees are a long ways from the last green. The customer service was excellent, especially Brian in the Pro Shop and Steve the starter. Really enjoyed the overall experience, and absolutely look forward to coming back here and playing both courses again.

After reading the most recent review I wondered if I was playing the same golf course. The green on hole #2 was half sand NO grass on 1/2 (really)? This was unacceptable for the cost of play here. The rest of the course was very nice and green. The greens in general are just ok, they seem to have as much sand on them as grass which makes for a lot of unpredictable putts. The north course seems to be in better overall condition. If you are driving out for the day you would be advised to play elsewhere for your money.

Played 1-23-16 joining a three some and playing in 4 1/2 hours. Tee boxes were in good shape, mostly level with good coverage. Fairways were for the most part in good shape with a few roped off areas and an occasional bare spot but mostly lush. Rough was dormant and easy to hit from. Found one sandtrap that was semi firm but still ok to hit from. Greens were in real nice shape rolling on the fast side and very smooth. Course may not be in as good of shape as some of the other courses in the area, but still worth going out to and fun to play.

Played on a great day for golf in the desert, in the low 70s with the sun hidden by thin clouds all day long, and the extra humidity preventing that dried out feeling I normally have after a round out there. The tournament I was in started around 10 am, and although we caught up to the group in front of us a couple of times, overall we were moving pretty briskly for weekend golf, getting around in 4hr 45 min or so.

The course itself was in pretty good shape. There were several holes on the front side where ground under repair was marked out on the fairway, but the ground didn't look that bad. I'm not a big fan of the front nine, because there's a multitude of tight holes that feature a concrete sluice that runs down the course. The back nine feels more open and natural. The course features a lot of heavy bunkering, and the rough is shaved down around the bunkers so your ball tends to spiral down into the sand. The greens play on the fast side, but were holding approach shots nicely. There are a lot of false fronts, so take the extra club and get on the correct shelf. No GPS on the carts, which is a disappointment for a course of that price. Customer service was very nice and friendly throughout, with two different beverage carts going around and three or four different marshals also making the rounds. The range is huge and is well-kept with grass tees. I wished I had found the practice chipping area that was tucked behind the range ball shack, only noticing it later after I had finished the 11th hole. Overall a nice, target-golf course, but I'm always willing to pay the extra $10 or so to play the North course.
