Played here, first time, on Saturday 4/28/18. Overall impressions: a very good option in the Coachella Valley, very large resort property and a fun, challenging and picturesque layout in very good condition. Reasonable priced at this time of year ($79 830am Saturday). No issues with tee boxes. Flat, level, and clean. Fairways were excellent, great coverage on throughout the rolling moguls (emphasis on moguls). While you usually end up in a fairly flat lie, the fairways are anything but flat. Generous but you can lose sight of your ball as it rolls up, down and over the moguls and depressions throughout. Somewhat sneaky water hazard placements on 6 and 16...beware as our group lost (2) big drives to water hazards which are not visible from tee. Bunkers were all in good shape. Most that I noticed were quite deep and mission was to get out and move on in most cases. Good sand fill in all that I saw. Greens were also excellent, but with most courses I played in Palm Desert area, I have trouble reading. I usually look for some kind break only to end up with a straight roll out. When I played straight, seemed to get a subtle break. Course or condition not to blame, user error. Very smooth, but I think they played a bit slower than they appeared. No complaints. 6-8 very picturesque holes, with water features and blooming flowers. (2) par 3's (3 & 17) are all carry over water, challenging and fun throughout. Sensible layout not unnecessarily tricky, which winds around the JW Marriott Resort grounds. A few holes with homes along the fairway but unobtrusive. Some traffic noise from nearby surface streets. Bag drop up top, pick up phone for pickup, and 2-3 minutes to get bags down to loading area. Very nice grass range, with good sized putting green. I did not see a chipping area, but may have just missed it. Saw Bev Cart, aka Ambulance, several times during the round. Bananas and apples offered at first tee and on course. Very enjoyable day. Highly recommend.
