GK Plays Reflection Bay! – Here’s a review from a group organizer’s perspective.

Reflection Bay’s group/tournament services and team were excellent lead by Head Pro Kevin Eng and Tournament Director TJ. Organized and professional from the start with a straight forward group sales agreement. Prior to the outing TJ provided prompt replies to all my questions as there were many given this was my first outing since COVID-19 started. On the day of play I arrived to find everything set up perfect as I requested. This was a straight tee times outing because of COVID-19 precautions (no shotguns allowed). All players had their own golf carts and needed to sign a waiver in the proshop. Carts and contest signage was accurate and had our logo on it. We were pleasantly surprised by a special coupon the golf course gave to each player prior to the outing for a deal on merchandise. Due to COVID-19 there was no on course food/beverage services however the golf course provided free bottled water/ice prior to teeing off and at the turn. Players were encourage to take as much as liked. During play their GPS system regularly reminded groups that were falling behind pace their status to keep our outing flowing better. The GPS system is excellent with accurate yardages and no advertising to distract. After play they set up a separate room for our group with tables social distanced and an outing menu. There was wide variety of choices to eat and drink. The food was delicious and served quickly. Unfortunately one of our players suffered heat sickness but the staff of Reflection Bay promptly provided the proper care to help with the situation. The entire staff was dedicated to making our day excellent. After last year’s outing I said I would come back the following year for another…that holds true again.

As far as the golf course, fantastic design to play that appeals to all skill levels. Challenging yet fair. Very scenic with beautiful surrounding terrain. Always kept in excellent shape although this year due to COVID-19 the golf will not be overseeded so come winter/early spring it will be dormant. This is an exception not the norm. What this does mean is the golf course will be in excellent warm weather turf conditions all the way through October and not have to close down for overseeding.

The only drawback was there is no driving range at Reflection Bay. On a positive note they have a nice practice putting green located near the 1st and 10th tee to keep things organized. They also have some hitting stalls to get your swing loose.

I was lucky enough to play here last Saturday. Easily one of my new favorite courses. There are so many beautiful water features I couldn't help myself to take pictures like tourist on a tour of the homes in Hollywood.

The golf carts were cutting edge with touch screen if you wanted a particular distance. Wonderful luxury leather seats. The cart would yell at you for playing behind pace and shut down if you drove into a 'no-no' area. The only thing it was missing was a electrocution feature if your BAC got too high, which would of been handy.

The not much of a practice facility, hitting into nets like Monarch Beach Golf Links. Golf balls were worn and black. It didn't matter too much for me, I toed a few balls and headed to our first tee box. Just a heads up if you are the type of golfer that needs a bucket before playing.

The course was in great shape, greens rolled fast, smooth, and true to line. Fairways were cut well, rough was managed good, fairway bunkers were well manicured. Greenside bunkers could use more sand in them but not awful. My favorite was hole 14, 528yrd par 5, has a stream the runs along the right side. As you drive up to the green and pass some palm trees you are greeted by a siiiiick cascading water fall. Its a challenging course but not so much that you don't have fun.

Pro shop and cart workers were fantastic. Filled the cart with ice and complementary waters before the round and refilled the ice at the turn. I don't remember seeing a mobile beverage cart on the course but the bar is located in a premium location for the start and turn if you wanted to grab something quickly. Toilet paper in the club house is single ply. After the round was greeted by staff to clean club heads.

This was my first time to Reflection Bay and I was very impressed with every aspect of the experience. From check in through the after-round lunch, the facility was top notch.

The location of the course is beautiful. It is surrounded by Lake Las Vegas, which is much larger than I thought it would be. There was a lot of recreational activity going on in the lake, and it was fun to watch people goofing off while I hacked away.

The course was a lot of fun. The tee shots weren't too tight, but there were lots of water type penalty areas scattered around to keep you honest. The fairways were very nice, with plenty of coverage. The rough was a fair length; playable, but long enough to affect shots. The sand was Covid impacted, but I have no problem with moving my ball to a representative spot in the sand. The greens were very nice for summer, and that's the most important element, to me.

Many thanks to Johnny for setting up another great outing. Reflection Bay is one of many courses I probably would never have played without his tireless efforts.

Played the GK Plays event on Saturday, 7/26. Gorgeous weather with early tee times was perfect. Course was in typical Reflection Bay condition, which never disappoints. Lush fairways. Rough was about 1-2 inches, just enough to cause issues. Greens were smooth and running about "9.5-10" according to my source. Perfect speed for me. I was in only one bunker and it's the one marked GUR so it was perfect for me. Did not look like anyone else in our group had bunker issues. Overall great conditions. Service was spectacular. Carts with GPS and a cooler filled with water, which can be topped off at the turn. While no drink cart on the course, the bar was open before and at the turn. After the round, we went to the banquet area for food and drinks. I went with the Philly Cheesesteak, which was delicious with homemade chips. I will admit I'm a huge Reflection Bay fanboy but it never disappoints whenever I play. It's the 1st course I recommend in Vegas (without a Cascata/Shadow Creek budget). Must play in Vegas.

It’ll take me a couple of days to catch my breath and get caught up on reviews from this past weekend. I’ll start with Reflection Bay. This is my second time playing this course and it may just have become a regular stop on my Vegas rotation of courses. Mainly because of all the great water features. As many know, I love a course with water features both internally and externally and Refection Bay fits the bill perfectly. The course opens up with a pond right in front of the first tee box that leads into a stream that follows the left side of the fairway. From there you get treated to some rolling hill terrain with another couple of water features until you come back around to the lake. Hole 8 & 9 are right on the lake’s edge with the greens being stuck out on the waters edge. Absolutely beautiful. The back nine has multiple water features mixed in throughout and then 17 & 18 finish up back on the lake’s edge. Because the finishing holes approach from the opposite side, the lake is now on the left and prevents the holes from being a been there done that feeling.

The clubhouse and pro shop are situated to overlook the lake for some nice views during a post round meal or drink.

Course conditions were very nice all around. Fairways were excellent. Easily an 8 or 9 They provided a good balance between offering good roll out yet a nice cushioned surface to hit from.

Greens were just a touch below the fairways being in the 7-8 range. They rolled smooth at a medium-fast pace. Some of the greens did have some different grass growing around the edges. Not sure if this is a seasonal grass change over for the high heat summer or some sort of disease. It seemed to always be on the edge of the green and didn’t affect any putts.

Tee boxes were also well manicured being level and lush with very few divots on the senior tees.

Customer service was excellent all round with attendants making sure your single rider cart was well stocked with bottled water before the round and at the turn. They were then ready to greet us at the end and wipe down our clubs which I always appreciate after a nice round.

I should be getting out to Las Vegas more often now that the Raiders are there. And on Sundays when everyone else is at the game, I’ll be at Reflection Bay!!

Played on 2/28 as the 1st course of a weekend Vegas buddies trip. Teed off a few minutes ahead of our 12:50 tee time. There was a slight back up on 6, but course moved along and the back 9 opened up. Finished right about 4 hours. An absolute joy from bag drop to the 19th hole. Course was in immaculate conditions. Level, damage free tee boxes. Lush fairways with some nice afternoon run. Rough is still dormant, but green is starting to peak through. Bunkers were in good shape with plenty of medium heavy sand. Greens were awesome and FAST. Service was what is expected from a high end resort course. We pulled up right behind a group of 12, all wearing Loudmouth (awesome!) outfits and doing parking lot shots. The attendant stopped by our car after we dropped our bags, asked our names, and our bags were off the rack before we walked in. Enjoyed some pre-round food and post round drinks in the bar/grill. The outside staff is probably my favorite, just friendly and chatty. Easily my favorite Vegas course, and the 1st I recommend when anyone visiting asks "Where should I play?" Conditions are always great, nice views, and the back 9 is such a blast.

Thursday January 16th… Had a great time at Reflection Bay with JohnnyGK and Rob1563. The course was in excellent shape with smooth fairways, quick greens and beautiful water and mountain views.

The practice area featured only mats and nets for full shots. However, the chipping and pitching area allowed for a good warm up on those all-important short shots.

We teed off on number 10 and took our time…taking pictures and letting a couple of groups play through, yet finished in well under four hours.

While all the holes were fun to play, the par three 8th and par five 9th, which ran along Lake Las Vegas, provided a truly memorable finish to our round.

Service was terrific. The staff was very friendly and helpful handling our clubs. And the free beverage after the round was a great way to end the day.

Played a GKguru round with JohnnyGK and LarryTee on Thursday, 1/16. 11am tee time off the 10th tee and finished at 4 hours, letting a couple of 2somes play through on the front.

Reflection Bay has easily become my favorite Vegas course. Conditions are consistently great. Today we had smooth greens, lush fairways, and nice, medium heavy sand in the bunkers. The rough is dormant Bermuda, which really makes the course "pop" from the tee box.

Customer service was excellent, from bag drop to grill to drink cart and finally the cart drop, just friendly staff with great service.

Reflection Bay is the 1st course I recommend to anyone making a Vegas golf trip. Great course with some fun holes and excellent views.

Best way to cap off some travel is golf with GKers at a great golf course! Good times with rob1563 and LarryTee in Vegas yesterday.

Caught some beautiful weather and Reflection Bay was in excellent shape as always. I say always because I’ve played the golf course in the Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter and its always in great shape. Green roll smooth and medium/fast. Fairways whether overseeded or summer bermunda are lush. Bunkers always maintained excellent. Service, facility and pace of play excellent.

Yesterday the golf course had the classic beautiful dark green fairways framed by dormant bermunda rough (see photos I just posted) and played firm. Super fun with all the contours out there. Greens smooth and mostly fast. Fairways lush. Tee boxes lush. Bunkers contained quality sand and well maintained. We teed off the back nine first because of an earlier frost delay which I actually like how the golf course sets up that way better. As a threesome we hardly ever waited, in fact let some twosomes play through. Constantly saw the friendly on course food and beverage service. Beautiful views of the surrounding mountains throughout. I love this golf course.

Highly Recommended.
