GolfSoCal promotions is offering an outing to the public for $115. Has anyone played it? Is it worth that price?

+ Big name designer (RTJ), more elevation change than is evident from the road, been around 50+ years.

- All kikuyu (!), pretty high degree of difficulty, but greens are not that tricky.

I played in an SCGA shotgun outing a few years ago, teeing off ~9 or 10 am, for ~$80. Wind is a big factor here and later afternoon will def. be a factor.

I used to play it a lot and definitely want to get back out there someday. $115 is decent considering it includes lunch, reception, etc. Just be prepared – it's tough!

I've played there a dozen times. Yes, it is worth it.

Nickname is "Mission Impossible". I wouldn't say impossible, but just dang hard.

Considering the going rate of most private clubs when they have "member for a day" deals or SCGA outings, I'd say that price is pretty good for MVCC. Heck, it's pretty reasonable considering typical OC course pricing. Speaking of Strawberry Farms! (Might as well include Oak Creek and Tustin Ranch in the same conversation of nearby courses also not worth $100-plus at any time, ever.)

Mission Viejo is a fantastic course. Plus, think of the gas money you'll save playing so close to home!

Oak Creek runs circles around SF and TR layout and conditions-wise and is still 50 dollars overpriced!

"Golf deals" in South Orange County havent been easy to find. Havent played MVCC but have been told its currently in great shape. But if anyone is interested in Strawberry Farms, Costco has a nice deal right now:

Last time we were at Costco my wife and daughter came up to me with that 2xStrawberry Farms offer and asked me if I wanted that for my birthday. I said no thanks. It isn't worth $75 per round.
