I was very reluctant to list this, but today I was able to complete the 10,000th round of golf (18 hole courses) since moving to California in 1970. I am proud to have finally reached this goal, which I have been chasing for a long long time. This represents a large portion of my life, and I feel fortunate that I am lucky enough to have had the time, money, and a wife willing to allow me the ability to achieve this milestone.

I have every score card ! Some day, when my golfing days are over, I will take great pleasure looking over what has been a great ride, and a wonderful way to have spent the greatest portion of my free time. When I think of all the places golf has taken me, the great people I've met and the pure pleasure of playing this fantastic game, can't think of anything which I would have rather done!

A heartfelt congratulations, Weber. Quite an accomplishment indeed ... and one that only golf nuts like us can appreciate.

That is an astonishing amount of golf. I know I haven't played 10,000 hours of golf, let alone 10,000 rounds (maybe 10,000 holes? Maybe...). Congratulations on such an amazing milestone.

Tons of respect, Weber. Imagine trying to get a non-golfer to comprehend and appreciate what 10,000 rounds of golf represents. I can barely absorb it myself. Truly amazing!

Pat.

wow... 10k is quite a feat and investment in and of itself.

That means you would have had to play one golf course a day for almost 27 1/3 years (no holiday) to make 10,000 golf courses! Wowzers. Almost 35,000 hours LOL.... almost 4 years of golf at 3.5 hour per round since we all know you play at the crack of dawn.

Here's to another 10k? Health wealth and wife willing

Very impressive. About 44 years of golf. About 228 rounds a year. About two rounds every three days. My back is sore just thinking about this.

Inquiring minds want to know:

How many aces, eagles, birdies, average score? Any double eagles?
How many drivers, sets of irons, putters?
What course did you play most often?
Any major gaps in time due to injuries or other?

Cal Ripken is jealous. He would have had to play almost 62 seasons to get to 10000 games.

Congrats.

jeroethel,

Thanks for the congrats, in fact, thanks to all the GK'ers for their kind words.

To answer some of your questions: I've had 12 aces, 84 eagles, well over 10,600 birdies (5.8 %) according to my computer. No double eagles. (Came close a couple times) Too many clubs to count, except for putters. (Basically have been using the same Arnold Palmer putter since college)

I have played 5213 rounds at the two Coto de Caza courses, but as far as "away" rounds, my top 5 are: Los Verdes 140, Rancho Park 132, Recreation Park 126, Elkins Ranch 117 & Los Robles 107. Have played over 700 different courses, many just once. Average score is 77.78

I have been blessed with good health. Since moving to Coto de Caza in 1996 I have not gone more than 3 days without playing golf. (That includes a hernia in 2009 and fracture of my rt foot in 1997) I played with the cast for about a week, then cut if off because it was too restrictive. My wife was furious!. Really can't recall prior to coming to Coto, but I'm positive there were longer gaps, but nothing more than maybe a week or so

I only have 93 cards which I kept before moving to So Cal from Chicago. I have no idea how many rounds I played there. Took up golf at age 11 and moved to L.A. when I was 22, so I have about 11 years of golf which I can't account for. I would guess I played maybe 30-40 rounds per year back then???
